This breed is not for everyone. I had 2 of them and this is what I learned. High energy. They are working dogs! They are not hyper, they need stimulation. Lots of play time and exercise. Very strong, very smart but stubborn unless you establish yourself as the alpha. Training is a must. They are prone to deafness, especially if one or both eyes are blue. Fast learners, very food motivated, very easily hurt with too much verbal scolding. And they are clowns. 😅They are velvety soft, but are prolific shedders. If you raise them right, you will have a pet that you will never forget, a real buddy, and cry like a baby when they leave this earth. They require a real commitment. But if you're up to the work, are high energy yourself, you will never regret your spotted best friend. I still get teary eyed whenever I see one. 😢❤

@inezrosario226 😭 so right. We found a "wooly" dal puppy in the shelter 20 yrs ago & brought her home. I think she was mixed with a poodle be pack before it was popular. She was quite the escape artist, the most protective & playful dog. She got lots of exercise with 2 kids. We had her 12 yrs & I tear up thinking of her

No response needed I just felt compelled.
Today is the day we say good bye to our Jack Russell Terrier. So I came here to remind myself we had given her such a happy home and life... And how much these dogs need us.
It's heartbreaking to say goodbye and I would give anything to see that smiling face and wagging tail one more time.
She was the joy in our lives and so much a part of our home. God gave us such a wonderful gift that was our Coco. We could never replace her and this is such a hard time for us now. But I came here to remind myself that the best thing you can do is remember the love you give to these dogs is so important to them and the love you receive is immeasurable. Thank you Rocky. I‘m surprised that her owners haven’t called the shelters yet. As soon as a dog got missing you’d call police and shelters in our country. @Klaeyy 2 місяці тому +5

@@nancysouder5111 the chip can wander if they get them too soon. Which is why you shouldn't get them chipped so young. What they do instead for expensive puppies is to tattoo a sequence of numbers into one of their ears.
It's basically the next best thing to a chip, because these numbers can also be used to identify the dog and owner.

We did not have everything you might think you might need with these dogs, but she was happy.
She loved us, and whenever she ran in the house, she would run around all through every room as fast as she could to get exercise,
and then she would chase her tail,
but she didn’t get much exercise outside,

She immediately shows one of the unique dalmatian things. Most dogs follow scents sniffing low to the ground. Dalmatians stick their nose up in the air to do the same.
They are also VERY smart dogs. Downside of that is that they really need to be stimulated a LOT, or they get bored, and chew things up. And they are VERY attached to their owner. So, being along in a place like that, having had a family, can make them really depressed. They're also very sensitive, so they do need a lot of care. But if you can give them that, they're probable one of the absolute very best breeds you can have. I had one of those beautiful girls once. She was 15 when we had to say goodbye. Still miss here.

If only the owners/adults of all these dogs, who are found & placed in the shelter could be more responsible, then shelters wouldn't be so over-run with all of the dogs. I know accidents happen, dogs can & do get out, however, a lot of the dogs dropped off, are for reasons I find quite shockingly absurd! For instance, the Mother who told her CHILDREN, "If you don't feed the dog, I'm going to take the dog away & give it to a shelter." THAT'S A RATHER LAME EXCUSE FOR LEAVING A PUPPY/ADULT DOG, IN NIGHT DROP. For God's sake! Moms & Dads: Take some responsibility in TEACHING YOUR CHILDREN how to do chores, such as feeding, giving a pet water, & the correct amount, kind of food, love & attention, & exercise AND medical care, when your pet needs it! Sh*t! I'm sick & tired of hearing all these stories of WHY a person can't take the minimal care of an animal: Food, water, shelter/blanket/bed, walk them & above all LOVE your pet. They are dependent on humans for just the basics in life. Have a heart, use the brain that God gave you! AND IF YOU CAN'T TAKE CARE OF A DOG OR OTHER ANIMAL, THEN

It could be a family that is traveling. About a month ago a man posted on fb that his cat was missing. He lives about 20 miles away. The owner was in our area and his cat jumped out the door. He didn’t know she had gotten in his van. A dog started chasing her and she got scared. We kept looking for a week. One night my granddaughter came home and said there is a black cat outside. We got food and enticed her to come in the house. She was not scared anymore. The owner came for her and Blackie was so happy. Greetings from Southeastern Kentucky

I had a Dalmatian as a kid. She was a GREAT dog, but very high energy her first three years. My Dad used to call her “that damn dog,” but secretly he adored her. She was so underfoot especially her first two years. And everyone always stopped us whenever we were out with her. She loved to roll in horse manure and her best bud was a chihuahua. And watch out -their tails are like whips!

    • @Ellie-kb6zl

@@theravensnest66 Yes, i can and this is a classic mistake people make when choosing a companion animal. They don't do any research to ensure they are adding a suitable dog to the family.
Having toddlers they should wait to get another dog. They didn't have time for Jellybean (perfect name) so I doubt any dog will suit them.
When it doesn't work out it's the poor dog who suffers. I'm glad you were able to take her in.
I'm an Aussie born and bred on a farm. Blue heelers are very popular dogs. They are so intelligent and easily trained.
Jellybean wasn't being aggressive with the children. She was bored and boisterous. I would only suggest this breed for a family if they have lots of time to devote to a dog and give them plenty of exercise and playtime.
I'm glad she has friends now too. Enjoy your new fur baby 👏♥

For years after the release of the 101 Dalmations movie remake, the LA area saw a noticeable increase in this breed surrendered to shelters. They were likely bought as gifts for children, then treated like toys. It was such that Disney had to put out a PSA campaign. As a result, there are probably also many dal-mixes out there. This one's a beauty and a sweetheart! While it'd be nice if her person came for her, it's irresponsible of them to not microchip or even tag, such a basic and inexpensive necessity, esp. compared to how much this pup cost to buy. She's a very adoptable dog, and I hope she finds a home soon.

Long, skinny legs. And awkward, goofy, just a silly dog. She was about 6 months old when me and my bestie moved in together and formed a pack. Sheesh. Eva embarrassed me, chewing up everything. Now, she is about 12, muzzle is getting grey. She grew into her ridiculous ears, and she is majestic. I call her Anubis because that’s what she looks like.

The next Saturday my dad told me I had to chase every dog that showed up out of our yard, or else. Well, I was more afraid of him than any dog, so I did. The results were I got over my fear, I learned to "read" dogs, & now I love dogs immensely. Thanks Dad.

In my long experience with dogs, I can say absolutely most dogs have much better manners than most people. A well brought up pup having had long enough with their mamma dog, know dog etiquette. This means they know how to acknowledge other dogs in a neutral way. They ask each other if they can interact. So please listen to Rocky, ask the dog if you are welcome.

Heartbreaking to think that her family left her. She looks ashamed and heartbroken. Thanks for helping her be happy again. Hope she finds a loving home. She is gorgeous and a sweetheart. She deserves a loving family who is right for her.

ROCKY! Important! You should mention on every single video where you are, what shelter, where it is, so people can react a lot more quickly, be it directly or indirectly. Thank you! This beauty is trained.

I had a Dalmatian several years ago. Still miss that sweet boy and my heart absolutely swells watching this. I hope her family comes for her soon. I agree that this breed is not for the fain of heart. Dalmatians can also be jumpers, especially if they are trying to get to their human. This doesn’t explain why she was wearing her harness AND her lead, but it might explain why a healthy, clean, well-trained Dali ended up as a stray.
