      Or fine then absurd fines to intentionally force them out of nascar like Carl Long because his car was a few millimeters out of compliance because he couldn’t afford to pay a rocket scientist engineer to make sure it was within specs. He just used a damn hammer and some cheap wrenches form Lowe’s instead. He bought an oversized used up engine from I believe Yates 🤔 and was fined out of the sport for using it merely because he was an owner driver. How many times did Yates run that engine and nascar did absolutely nothing? 🤔🤔. I’m not sure if it was a Yates engine but if was a used engine from one of the big corporate teams and nascar never had a problem with it going through tech until an entrepreneur owner driver used it

    Kenny Nascar was making people buy weekend Tickets way back in 1997 when Texas started racing. Also tickets back then were $80 for about any Cup Race and $45 for a Busch Race as well and Hotels were $200 a night 2 night minimum. You still had alot of fans actually 100,000 plus every week. It went downhill in 2008 with the crappy COT car. Also you always had people with money running good in CUP Races its just with the Charter system it has gotten worse. And when fan attendance left what did you think was going to happen.

    The NASCAR fan base is perfectly capable of recognizing driver talent. Usually, the drivers who show that potential talent will eventually get an opportunity to move up to the next level in racing. A young kid who starts his driving career on a local short track, eventually might get an opportunity to move to another series such as the NASCAR Truck Series. Once in a Truck Series ride, if the kid shows talent and potential, he might get a shot at an Xfinity Series ride. With success in the Xfinity Series cars, the young driver is sure to eventually get a seat in the NASCAR Cup Series…. maybe. If they have all of the qualifications, it makes it much easier for a car owner to elect to give a young Xfinity driver a chance in a Cup Series car. If they ever get that break in their career, a Cup Series ride, the odds are stacked against them having any measured success. However, if these young up and coming drivers have sponsorship that will follow them to a new team at a new level, then that driver has a lot to be thankful for. Personally, I think that progression through all of the steps at all of the levels in racing makes for an excellent resume for a ride in the Cup Series. In NASCAR, like the other professional sports, money talks. If these young guns can arrange for their own sponsorship deals then that could be their ticket to drive in the big show. JMO

    This is why I love what Tony did with Custer. Custer's dad is a big wig at Haas. And the Fords were already on the decline by then as well. Custer got his shot. But! Instead of watching him ruin his career and end up in an underfunded team like Tony has seen many real racers with talent have to end up doing, he bought him back to Xfinity to get some more practice. Racing, media, attitude, the way he holds himself, learning to he human, right sized, not better than anyone. Even though, they know he will be. It wasn't punishment, it was out of love and respect for Custer and his family. When he gets back to Cup, he'll tear the up.

    I remember 20 years ago the announcers for a NASCAR race would say as the cars came to the green flag 40 of the fastest drivers in the world. It is no longer said because it is no longer the fastest drivers. It is the rich kids that bought there way in to NASCAR. Most are not A team drivers. I believe that is one of the reasons why it is always the same 6 drivers running in the front. And just every once in a wile a B or C drivers gets luck and runs up front because of a crash or lucky pit stop.

    Nascar has never been the best of the best but the rich kid thing is a lot newer. There are drivers that are good also that bring money, like a rich kid. If there wasn’t drivers with their own money, there wouldn’t be sports car racing. My first Daytona was $85 tickets with an $80 a night hotel room across from the track. My last one at a hotel near the track, was $400 a night with a 4 night minimum and $185 tickets. That was from ‘93-‘98.

    Yes and no. Money is way more important nowadays compared to a few decades ago due to costs going up around the globe, as well as the sponsorships required, and also Motorsport is just generally very expensive. However there are still lots of drivers, especially in NASCAR, that have shown their talent with or without being from rich families. Ross Chastain who isn’t from one is a phenomenal driver, and Ty Gibbs who is is also a phenomenal driver.

    What does it cost to put “a star athlete” in front of the fan. I believe that herein lies where baseball, hockey, football and basketball have completely different models than Automobile Racing. If you add up all the cost for one athlete (driver), you will find it costs the fan, those promoting the sport of racing, far more than stick and ball sports. Add it up, car, engine, safety, track, NASCAR costs per “star”, IMHO, are exceedingly higher than say a start baseball player. It costs far more to allow the one driver to preform his craft. For one thing, 40 some other teams playing at the same time to display the one stars talent. Auto Racing is expensive, that money to put on a show, “of the best”, is much higher that the stick and ball sports where they only need 2 teams playing at one time to display the “star talent”. I am repeating myself. Embrace what auto racing is; comparing it to stick and ball will only complicate our enjoyment of “the need for speed”. Alberta Jim

    100% it’s sad how greedy NASCAR has gotten. THEY HAVE PROCED OUT THE MIDDLE CLASS from going to races. I live in Chicago and can’t afford a ticket to the MF street race. A street race!!!!
    As far as drivers, look at the Dillon brothers? Everyone knows how they got their seats. They are the down fall of RCR and are absolutely horrible drivers. Need people with talent in those cars. Should be up to the teams to get sponsors, not drivers!

    When Jimmy came in and won five in a row... and never got the credit... I mean he won five Championships in a row and people said... crickets. What happened?

    Jimmy Owen's is better than Bobby Pierce though, ya hes getting older and doesn't run like he used to but hes still usually top 5 now

      Pierce is the son of a driver, though I have seen their place and they are not as wealthy as some of the bigger teams. His family is in Oakwood, Illinois, not far from Danville, Illinois, and the Indiana State line is not far away.

    Huge can of worms and Michael is 100% correct. This is what the teams are complaining about!Relying on corporations (in recent years) is a death knell. Almost all of them are foreign based which explains the severe lack of patriotism ON THE CARS and in the sport. There’s tons more that could be said about this but everyone (fans) already know it.

    • @ethanweeter2732
      @ethanweeter2732 24 дні тому

      Okay, we had foreign makes in the sport in the 50s. And not every sponsor or owner was American.

    It's better than F-1 thanks very expensive and if you start on the poll you'll most likely win. That's why I refer to it as FOLLOW ME ONE racing and ther so tutty fruity . More people changing tires than needed that's huge cost just to change 4 tires. Stupid!!

    The whole rich kid thing is why I quit supporting & watching nascar in 2015 after already being fed up for over 5yrs. It has only gotten worse & worse since then. If Kyle Larson was 15yrs younger, he doesn't make it to nascar today

This garbage on Sunday is a stupid looking prototype shitbox spoiled country club rich kids playing race car driver that happens to be on tv on Sunday…
