It's interesting finding one person I have been listening to for direction, such as yourself, analyzing another person being listened to for direction.

The fact that Jaggi and all the other gurus you mentioned have so many followers and subscribers tells you that a whole lot of people out there are searching for more than just the physical and intellectual in their lives.
The number of followers says nothing. Christianity and Islam nave billions, so what? Those are people who feel the same existential dread and have the same questions as all people but decided to believe in someone who is a self-made pseudo-scientist and pseudo-psychologist.

God, pastors, a guru, a life coach, people in your life or what have you...You have to moderate it and be mindful of it.
It's tempting and easy to follow them without question when you are in search of something.
Welcoming their words with openness and obedience as they assume authoritative hierarchal position.
You are the only one who have walked in your shoes. No one can understand wholeheartedly what your journey was like and will be like...not saying you are alone in the world.
Just that take what works for you to better yourself and your situation. Make it your own...put your spin on it, customize it.

I like something Sadhguru said. Just because a person can recite information doesn't mean he's intelligent. A tape recorder can do that.
People who can recite, connect and create new knowledge from information created the tape recorder! Not someone who tries to put down educated people because he didn't have the self control to sit in class listening to someone else talk.

At least one very good thing I can say about him is that he is actively working to raise awareness about a very real issue which is the depletion of nutrients in soil worldwide. This is a very important issue so more power to him on that.

@@wordsleuth992 I don't think Dr. Grande is prejudiced, but for the sake of playing Devil's Advocate, one could be prejudiced in ways that have nothing to do with ethnicity.
Scully from the X-Files was prejudiced in favor of skepticism, for instance.
Another example is when Sir Isaac Newton proposed his theory of gravity. Back then the French scientific community was so skeptical of the way his theory seemed to defy materialism that they had a heightened awareness of his other peculiarities, manifesting as a prejudice against him as a person.

But even still, one could have genuine insights, even someone with a strange psychological profile, as in the case of Newton.
I don’t find him vague or talking in circles at all. He’s been insightful to me. I’ve never given him a dime either but I’ve always felt better after listening to him. He is human though and possible to get things wrong sometimes and who knows how much of this is cultural understanding.
Yes- it’s odd that Dr.Grande chose to to do this. I listen to Sadhguru because it calms me.
He is a great speaker and does have pretty good relationship personal advices plus lifestyle tips. Problem is he claims to have whole lot of mystical powers like a god has and nevers justifies any claim he has made. He also has a poor understanding of science.
It is very easy to read books to say insightful things. But a real guru has left ego behind and does not insist on being called real guru

"A second brain in the gut" Is not unknown and research has been done regarding how this plays out in our health.
The level of consciousness/ awareness of this man is much different than the person giving his take on Sadhguru..

I started watching Sadhguru's videos and thought I was making sense out of them, but you are right. This is the first video I've seen that has actually properly pointed out all the things that were always there, but I didn't want to see. I thought if he really wanted to help people as opposed to make obscene ammounts of money, he would not be charging the prices that he does to go to do his courses. Thankyou for this video. His answers are so ridiculously vague, and you're right, he never actually shows you step by step techniques of how to meditate correctly, just lots of confusing videos telling you what not to do, but not anything useful like how to improve your life. Just how if you have done this and that, how it will affect you, but not how to remedy the situation. I have been getting more sceptical for a while now. Ok maybe he is doing some good with this save the soil etc and I believe he does other charity work, but this could just be a cover. Maybe there is good and bad in him like everyone, but I don't think people should profit in such a huge way, from people's desire to change. As that is why most people are there I expect to try and make their lives better, or for spiritual reasons. But the point is I expect alot of vulnerable people have probably been, thinking it would solve all their problems, which I probably would have if I'd had the money at the time I was looking into it.
How do we know that the money he makes doesn't get invested back into the isha foundation ?
His motive is to provide wisdom. Not step by step procedure to come out of your misery. What you do with that wisdom defines who you are. He speaks truth which is bitter to grasp. He celebrates the power of love. He is called painfully vague cause people live in denial and are used to spoon feeding. Philosophy was never simple to understand BTW. Dr Grande, there is a scientifically accepted concept known as the “enteric brain”. It is in our intestines that most of our serotonin is produced. I had a “gut feeling” to let you know. As always...
Exactly, there's also the heart brain, which is believed to be the true brain. Objective and thorough analysis without bias is the key to true knowledge. I like Grande but his personal filters limit his objectivity

What I get from Sadhguru is everyone at some point needs to take responsibility for their lives. If you haven't noticed, everyone is blaming everyone or everything else for something. There are many things we can't control, but one thing we can do, is make healthy choices for ourselves, and he gives people "tools" on how to use their intelligence in a life affirming way. We all ask certain questions a certain times in our lives, that is what I call growing up. Jesus spoke in parables I believe, because we are not all at the same level of experience. Take what you want, and leave the rest.

I went to a Sikh school. I saw him speak when I was young. I heard many crazy things as an adult. Our Principal was a woman. She would not let any of her students have "private talks" with this man. I think she knew he was sketchy.

May be true, but I still gather many little wisdoms from the Sadguru. More than i get from "Doctor" Grande. I HAVE seem Sadguru's ego come out. Once he spoke about the importance to treat caffiene drinks coffee & tea as drugs and to not use them daily. Which is sound-enough advice. But then the Guru mocked people for thinking that they are getting any benefit from herbal teas (no caffine), calling ALL non-caffinated teas "placebos!" This is absoutley wrong. Take Chamomile tea. It was minerals and potent anti-oxidents that benefit one's immune system and keeps you looking young! // Yet, this doesn't stop me for relating to Sadguru. A smart person must simply take the Guru with a little grain of salt.

I don't know if you have seen other videos where Dr. Grande also attempts character-assinatinons on Deepak Chopra, Eckart Tolle, and even US-governmnet whistle-blower Bob Lazar! I think "Doctor" Grande is a clear example of how modern medicine has rejected even historical practices of WESTERN medicine itself before 1950. Grande is part of the phamaceutical mind-set. To this day, I, myself, proudly remain un-vaxxinated! Ha.

I think your do for a little "shut the front door" your an ignorant critic, as the saying goes, "don't kill the messenger" but your request is nothing but a sad attempt.
It would be sure to generate an interesting dialogue (or monologue, as the case would be)
I know he always makes sure to inform the audience that he isn't diagnosing anyone he does a video about. But regardless, that is a legal safeguard and he does offer very suggestive if not diagnosis remarks into a person's mental state. In his professional field the consensus among others who practice in the same field is something like this, "The first is that diagnosis can only be given by a qualified expert, meaning that self-diagnosis lacks credibility. The second is that self-diagnosis can turn serious psychiatric disorders into mere fashion labels, in such a way that trivialises them."
If he were to make a video of himself he would make a mockery of his proffesion, and would ultimately lose all credibility to all the videos he has made this far, and have garnered so much popularity. He has become very popular by his neutral position towards those he speaks about. At times I see some signs he lets his personal feeling about someone come out but he does really well not to let those feelings overtake his professional nature and keeps himself very professional throughout. Doing a video on himself will NOT provide any benefit to the popularity and will only make the million plus subscribers he has gained, have to now decide if he is credible or not because he will have an self interest that may outweigh his professional nature we have all come to like. I don't think he would consider it for even a second as a possibility. The only alternative would be him asking a respectable colleague to watch his videos and make an informed scientific assessment based on those videos. That is the way the public had become aware of him, I haven't seen any other media outlet speak on him, but I'm sure some of the people he has spoken about have become unhappy with his assessment he provided and now have it out for him and will go to great lengths to sabatoge his popularity and find ways to destroy his reputation. They will find people to troll him and suggest things like " hey I want to see Dr . Grande do a video in Dr. Grande!" So thats why I think someone who is a fan of his and likes his work, wouldn't dare suggest such a Ludacrous thing for him to do. His work he does and the videos he makes are very informative and valued by many as an insightful path to gain a truthful opinion on the legitimacy of someones public reputation and if they are genuine or fraudulent. I believe Dr. grande is a genuine professional who has gained enough popularity that he will have those who will try turning him into the next Jerry Springer because of wide spectrum if people he has spoken about. Please don't make what he does a dog and pony show, and consider what your asking, before you just blurt it out. It's really not a video I want to see, because it lacks the credibility people have come to expect from him.

Most people now days are influenced and exposed to so much different stuff it clouds our judgement of our values and fundamental truths. these "truths" are very simple but often forgotten in everyday life.
Certain people have the ability to see beyond all the influences and can show a way of remaining true to good simple values. This people remind us to ask ourselves questions that ultimately help us see what it is we need to focus on to better help ourselves and the world.

Sadhguru hasn't received a dime from me but listening to his words has helped with me depression and anxiety by calming me. There are people who SIT in their depression -- that is what I think he's referring to. It was listening to him and that helped me get to a point where i asked my doctor to go back to medication.
My interpretation is that he's saying the same thing I've heard countless others say, "God helps those who help themselves" yet somehow when Sadhguru says the Hindu equivalent is isn't acceptable.

He has a center here in the US, near Nashville. The Great American Eclipse of 2017 passed directly over it. Was Sadhguru there for the event? No. He was in India, working to protect the rivers. One data point to show how deeply he cares for such causes.

His techniques are regurgitation of yoga techniques like pranayam or vipasana packaged in a more approachable way. I wonder have you actually tried to practice any meditative approaches or just intellectual assessment/ ofcourse disagreements and recommend therapy sessions and drugs?

You can learn approachable yoga techniques from thousands of gurus that provide it all for free. Todd is right about calling him a business man, he is using yoga and charisma, as well as a big marketing team to accumulate wealth. This selling and marketing of yoga is the biggest red flag you can have - these type of gurus will make you become infatuated with them and spend all your money to realize (hopefully) at some point that their practices lack the grace of an enlightened master and ends you spinning around in an ego trap just as his ego is still governing his being. Real enlightened masters or genuine gurus with their heart in the right place will never put a price tag or a marketing team behind their practices, they may accept donations at your discretion but that's it.

Do you know about the scandal regarding his illegal, environmentally damaging construction of his ashram in India?
I could go on and on about the red flags that reveal what he truly is, but chances are, people like you, who are already primed and allured by his charm, are not going to be budged due to cognitive dissonance. It's the same as when you try to tell Osho fans that Osho was a dangerous cult leader who abused drugs and did orgies that involved kids, and they will just refuse to believe you or even fact check what you're saying (yes Osho was far more dangerous than Sadhguru, but nonetheless the same principle applied, a guru who achieved certain spiritual change within them, becomes obsessed by their ego from the power they find themselves in, and completely give up on seeking their enlightenment in exchange for enjoying their new powers).

I don’t know about all his spiritual products; just listen to some of his UA-cam videos. I find his teachings profoundly enlightening. He seems to teach like a Zen master in that his teachings compel one to self reflect. That’s an amazing gift all by itself. Too many of us focus our attention on what others are doing wrong instead of going inside and questioning our own motives and behaviors.
He killed his wife back in 1997. He’s your standard narcissist cult leader. Listen to a real zen master, this guy is selling ideas that feel enlightening, like all cult leaders have always done. You’ll find some cool ideas with all of them, that’s how they get to their position at the top of the pyramid.
And that’s why he’s successful… He knows how to tell people what they want to hear, and be manipulated you by feeding your needs/wants. Do what you like, just be aware of what’s really happening.
If you didn't care about what other people think, you wouldn't care about what he says either.

First of all Sadhguru's name is Jagadish Vasudev. 'Jaggi' is his pet name that only his closest family address him as. As an interviewer, who is a complete stranger, do you automatically jump to calling people by their pet name? He's not asking you to address him as his holiness or your highness, it's just the name everyone started calling him by, "Sadhguru".
The interviewer could've at the very least addressed him respectfully, but clearly he was trying to instigate him.

@@kjbrocky There isn't really any evidence pointing towards that claim, but i understand why people would instantly go towards that idea, what i know is that In Buddhist and Yogic tradition theres a practice where one leaves the body behind and goes somewhere else and that's most likely what his wife performed. Theres a ton of buddhist monks that have done it and have been cremated, and some of there bodies are still around till this day. I definetly recognize the corncern though, from the outside looking in it looks like a cult especially after the whole Osho debacle.

He did not wait for the parents who had raised her all those years. What a disrespectful thing to do at the very least.

Chris, if you are dealing with his ‘believers’ then you are most certainly not dealing with his disciples or devotees, as Sadhguru refrains people from believing him or believing in him, but rather to use the methods that he teaches. If it works you keep it, if it doesn’t to leave it and go.

Only when an authority that asks you to be a believer, one becomes susceptible to doing things blindly and is prone to cause damage to others out of confidence. A guru like Jesus, Buddha or Sadhguru have been there to raise human consciousness by bringing clarity to the individual, not a belief system to the masses. The church may have asked you to believe, but a guru will not do such a thing.
When one has clarity, where is the room to be mislead? Only if one is clouded by a belief system or distorted knowledge can one cause harm to themselves or others through false pride and confidence.
If you cannot comprehend what Sadhguru says, you should not listen, but you should not mistake what he says as half baked or blabbering. If he really believes his own teachings then he cremated his wife while she was still alive at just 12 hours after her death. Women's rights in India are very limited. His father-in-law's suspicions about his wife's mysterious death are all I need to know.

As far as I know, he never said to pursue for peace. What he said is, peace is just that it has to happen for everyone everytime. Without that, a person cannot enjoy even his food. So a daily management of your body and lifestyle should correct that aspect pretty well. Meditation is just a measure to connect ones body to mind and deeper self. A visible results when you go to gym for a year is seen on your body with defined contours. Well same can happen, when people meditate for long period of time, and they become more enthusiastic, calm, happy, understanding etc. The moment you stop doing , it will fade away naturally. Not necessary meditation means just closing your eyes in some posture. It has lot more aspects. Right eating, right talking, right listening etc etc. But as far as I know , what he says to pursue is for mukti ( salvation) , coherent to lots of eastern vedik philosophy. Much greater than getting god. Now what mukti is might be debatable. I don't think it's same for everyone. One aspect of mukti is " free from ignorance".
I appreciate you’re opinion Dr. Grande. I agree that depression is a clinical issue such as bipolar and schizophrenia. Eating broccoli 🥦 or taking 1000 mg of Vitamin B12 along 1000 mg of VitaminD might help people with low lying depression however, serious imbalances of the brain 🧠 need medication. With that said I wish we had better alternatives to the numerous harmful side effects of pharmaceuticals. I’m still a supporter of group counseling with a competent, sharp, compassionate, insightful therapist along with meditation, Yoga, organic food, and support from loving 🥰 people like you! Unfortunately, there are a lot of adequate at best therapist.
My impression of him is that he's kind of flippant about any kind of problem you might be having. He sees things in black or white. I felt he was also very subtly making fun of whoever came forward with a problem.
He is not flippant. He wishes for you to take responsibility for your life. For you to determine your experience of the situation. Maybe your ego got a bit bruised. He has said many times what he says is not important, it can be merely used as inspiration for wanting to know. You are supposed to do the yoga practices to experience what he is talking about. He is out talking now about the Save Soil Movement that is the agenda not for you to believe anything.

He is probably the only person from whom I learned not to look at everything as black or white. It takes time to "know" even 10% of what he is saying. Took me 5 years to simply trust him and even now I don't know him fully after using his yoga tools.

He is not a flippant. His words are deep and direct and may hit one's ego. If one keeps their ego and opinions aside and listen to him what he says has made the most sense to me. He is not a people pleaser and I understand that might turn some off...

That is one aspect, but there is a more recent discovery that is quite literal and that is the microbiome, basically the gut bacteria. This is proven science now and is most likely what Sadguru is referring to since he seems to stay well versed in current studies.

@@shanira1536 it can be, hopefully it's not the case here, though. I admire respectful amount of succesful people, like musicians or writers. The issue here is the magical thinking that a belief, a thought, or positivity cures your illness. While focusing on positivity or cultivating your spiritual life in general can definitely help your health, people shouldn't feel guilty for being ill because they don't think or feel the 'right' things.

Quantification and western science and medicine is the third leading cause of death. With the scientific and analytic knowledge we have today , we cannot understand or quantify Sadguru’s theories.

Any guru is essentially trying to describe using language, the indescribable. What I would ask everyone who holds negative opinions on Sadhguru or spiritual teachers in general, is what do you picture a 'legit' guru sounding like? What would he say how would he be? etc

And i agree with previous comment, Ramana Maharshi is one example of a real guru. Humble, authentic, not pretending to be "spiritual", he wasn't greedy and nobody had to pay 1000s of euros for courses.
Sadhguru, late Sai Baba etc. are complete oposite of that.
@@soloforce6187 yeah Ramana maha shi is great but I'm not sure it's fair to judge Sadhuguru on the fact that he charges for retreats. Even if you don't like him as a guru he's obviously contributed a lot into helping the world with this savebthe soil campaign and countless others. He also puts a lot of free content put there and the basic program is reasonably priced. But what I was getting out with the comment was that most people commenting and probably Dr Grande would say all spiritual talk is nonsense, so I wanted to know if they had an idea of a guru that they would consider legitimate. If not then the video is redundant and you might as well just say there's no point in investigating anything past materialism.
