there iz one thing i can not find in the grocery store _ you can cook chicken _ barbacue chicken _ shake n back chicken _ but where iz the chicken coating that you pan cook with some liquid oil and it gives a slight fried texture _ i have found this in a package of sweet and or sour chicken from hamburger helper i think but you cant find a powder box of it _ you could cook coat your chicken _ then you could have like it in a salad in a snack wrap _ the texture iz like a semi rough dry moist garlicly basily coat comparing to a wet cooked chicken breast a hard fried chicken breast texture

Your son is adorable! Awww! And honest, lol!😂 And he's right--you needed way more garlic and kosher salt! I think you needed more basil as well, and the best way to use fresh basil in this particular recipe is to roll up several leaves, then slice them into lots of thin strips so that you get a little in every bite! Fresh mozzarella balls are perfect for this recipe! And when you get a bite with a little bit of basil and the slightly melted mozzarella--fantastic! I suggest using a tad fewer tomatoes, as tomatoes can detract from the overall flavor if you use too many. And I personally don't like burrata at all--it's really not necessary here. I think burrata is oddly thick and slimy, with a weirdly bland taste. You should warn people that burrata is different than your typical mozzarella!
You demonstrated this well! It looks delicious-- It's quick, simple, and for a light summer meal, it's heaven on a plate! I agree with you that other Italian herbs aren't necessary for this recipe. Don't forget to serve this with your favorite crusty French bread! I now know what I'm making for dinner tonight, lol! 🎉👍

I actually really appreciate how seriously James took his rating, but also that moment where he felt almost sheepish about it being an 8/8.5 because he loved it (and you!). Beautiful dad/son moment (made me tear up a little actually). This dish looks wonderful, even if it is simple, as you say. I probably would have added a bit of butter to add the salt quotient and let it melt in there before the e.v.o.o. myself, but it is bright, fresh, and great looking! Another win.

Lazy weeknight pasta dishes are honestly my favorites. I end up using all kinds of random scraps and random herbs, veggies, proteins, and shortcuts I never would have otherwise used, and a simple dinner becomes a learning experience for me. Lazy pasta cooking taught me, for example, that leftover potatoes are a great thickener/filler for pasta sauces. It taught me that a very starchy pasta water can be well-emulsified with a diverse combination of butter, cream, olive oil, parmesan, and cottage cheese. Casual and lazy cooking is the foundation of most enjoyment and discovery in home cooking.

my kids start checking the tomatoes at the supermarket as soon as the weather warms up and we have spaghetti caprese at least once a week all season. i use full size tomatoes, blanch and peel/ pit them instead of frying them. i do use 2kg of tomatoes with 4 mozzarelle for 4 people, because the family goes nuts over the 'goodies'. we do also add parmigiano and a decent ladle of pasta water to help melt the cheese. it's the first dish my children learned to make themselves.

Jim, I can't thank you enough for this wonderful channel! I started out just watching because your videos are so relaxing. Then I tried a couple of your less complicated recipes, and they're now on my list of favorite recipes to cook.
I also just wanted to say something about salt, for the benefit of any fans who, like me, might be on low salt diets.
The taste for salt is very elastic: your taste buds can get used to eating a ton of salt, or they can adapt to a low salt diet -- IF you are consistent.
People on low salt diets shouldn't be afraid to try these recipes. Just use the level of salt you are accustomed to. I made the Fra Diavolo chicken thighs with no added salt (including tomatoes and tomato paste with no salt), and the result was so delicious! Same for the pork chops with cherry peppers, although that's cheating a bit because the cherry peppers and their juice have some salt.
Keep up the great work! I promise to pre-order your cookbook on Amazon if you decide to do one.

FYI y'all. In years past I've made this exact same dish with baby arugula instead of basil, although I have used both as well. Also, the best way to serve burrata is in cut halves on top of the warm pasta with a drizzle of EVOO, a pinch of salt, and fresh cracked pepper right on the burrata itself. If you want a touch of acid on it, I would recommend Italian aceto (balsamic vinegar) but just a touch. The combination of flavors is fantastic.

I love the mini mozzarella balls, thank you for inspiring and giving me new ideas for my own cooking. I respect what you were trying to accomplish here, a quick simple dish that takes advantage of ingredients in season. How I would shape this to my taste (I know no one asked lol) I would use some of those tomatoes and make a quick sauce with it, add some chopped basil in there to really inject the dish with that fresh flavor. I would then finish with more cherry tomatoes, warm them through to have that texture and those pops of flavor. I would then do everything that you did exactly the same. Gorgeous dish and I appreciate your sons honesty, because I knew that wasn't a 9 or 10 dish (it wasn't designed to be) and it's great he can be open with you. Thank you again brother!!!

My Italian mother taught me to make this fresh, no cooking other than tossing the hot pasta into a mixture of chopped tomatoes, EVOO, vinegar, mozzarella (and a little juice from the mozzarella), basil, salt and pepper. Parmesan to taste. It's best if you make the mix ahead of time and let it sit a while.
Of course, the above requires great ingredients to start with, the tomatoes should be truly mature. Harder to get them that way in the US (unless you're growing them yourself), so I can understand "softening them" in a little olive oil.

Very similar to a dish I make except it uses feta instead of mozarella and add fresh parsley and basil cooked with the tomatoes and toasted pine nuts at the end. So good.

I remember a couple months ago I was looking for a recipe for this n couldn’t find one so I just put the pasta with the ingredients for the salad and boom caprese pasta lol the first time I made it I too didn’t add enough salt but I put a tiny bit of flaky salt on top like I would for the salad and it was perfect. I’m glad there’s finally a recipe now!

I do a very similar version, one of my favorite dishes because its so easy and requires only a few ingredients but is so flavorful...i also like to finish with a bit of freshly grated parmesan

Been making this caprese pasta since this summer as I absolutely love it. It is so easy to make and even leftovers are delicious. Instead of the spaghetti type pasta, I used the Mezzi Rigatoni pasta as I’m partial to macaroni.
I also started using kosher salt and even bought a wooden container for the salt similar to what you use. I tend to be heavy handed with using salt and found that the kosher salt is a bit stronger than the regular type so needed to cut down on amount I use which actually is better for my blood pressure 😊.
Anyways, just wanted you to know that I really like a lot of your recipes and always go to your site for new recommendations. You appear to have a lovely family and I like that you involve them in your presentation. Keep up the good work and wishing you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving!🦃

Nice for summer when the tomatoes and basil can come fresh from the garden and then burrata, excellent.

I could get into this. And it's something easy to cut down to single serving size.
Pros and cons of the single life...you don't often have someone to share the meal with but on the other hand you mostly only have to please yourself.

Nice, I have a bunch of grape tomatoes from the garden and I bet some of my fresh Pesto as well would be good and I use Frantoia for it.

Infuse the garlic and tomato in the oil for longer and you get more flavor.
Butter is probably needed to carry the flavor as well.
Understandable that you want a fresh taste.
Maybe think garlic chives or garlic tops ?
Probably a more ADULT friendly dish.
The subtilty may be lost on a young palate.
