"Confortably numb but with lithium came poetry" she might be referencing pink Floyd and Nirvana to say she was hospitalized and medicated when she was younger and she used to write as a coping mechanism.
@@lucasanches8065 I mean. You can't get more literal than that. Of course. But Lana is not dumb. She knows that the words comfortably numb are a direct link to pink Floyd and she's also referenced nirvana before.
i can't explain how much i love sweet carolina. Lana wrote it for her sister that was pregnant and scared about the future (apparently baby blues stands for postpartum depression) she wrote it in 20 minutes and her dad did the piano, they recovered the song in 1 hour
@Saturn_boiiiii0 Dealer and California are some of the tracks from an unreleased album half Shadow puppets half Lana del rey... they did a whole album together. but that wasn't leaked.
What’s funny, is that on a live a couple weeks ago she said she was going for a saxophone kind of sound. Haha. Gave off more guitar than sax but still so fucking cool
Living Legend - written about and for Jane Powers, Lana’s friend and mentor Cherry Blossom - written as a lullaby for Lana’s future child or for herself from the perspective of the mother she felt she never had Sweet Carolina - written with Lana’s dad and sister Chuck (real name Caroline) for Chuck right before Chuck gave birth to her baby
I've already listened to this album 50+ times but each time i get goosebumps. That's surely one of her best albums. In my opinion, it gets all the the best music features from her previous albums and successfully combines them with deep and emotionally strong lyrics
I've been trying to rank her albums for a while now and I give up. Every album has a different story, a different vibe and they're just...I can't even put it into words, I can only feel my lungs breathe in ready to scream
The line in Wildflower Wildfire is actually referring to her own biological mother. She refers to her only as her dad's wife to further hammer home how she damaged Lana and how Lana doesn't really consider her a mother. Like someone else said "comfortably numb but with lithium came poetry" seems to be using Pink Floyd and Nirvana to reference her hospitalization and medication for her mental health struggles from her mom and how writing became a coping mechanism.
Blue Banisters is about an unfulfilled promise a man made to her but then her sisters came and painted banisters for her and every-time a man leaves her, her sisters come to paint them. “Everytime it turns to may, all my sisters fly to me, to paint” (Notice how her album cover shows unpainted banisters? That’s why. The promise is unfulfilled. He never came back to paint them) I am assuming the first half (midwestern sounding) it’s about her cop bf. He works in Tulsa, OK (Tulsa Jesus Freak sneak 😉) Interlude has a sample of The Trio. The trap beats fade into the acoustic sounds at the very end and it actually continued on in Black Bathing Suit as well. (The crow sounds) Black Bathing Suit is referencing how she is wanting love and media’s backlash works in her favour in the end and also making sure we know it’s all karmic lineage. She has been unfairly cancelled and she is just setting the record straight. “Black bathing suit” is used as a metaphor and has double meaning. Living Legend is about her mentor Jane (she references her “sweet baby Jane”) The electric guitar is just her screaming Woauuu waouuu (lyric sites say it’s “why” but it’s inaccurate) she mentioned in her live that it was supposed to be a saxophone lol Sweet Carolina: it’s about her sister Chuck (Her birth name is Caroline) who just had a baby. She wrote it with her dad and sister actually. In the end, it seems like she is left longing for love and her banisters are still unpainted. This is the jest I get after listening and analyzing. The album is predominantly about heartbreak, her perception in the media and her love for her family. She said the album starts from what it was like to where she is now.
Lana’s journey…. Her journey…. Up to present day, feels like a Series. Character progression. Improvement every lyric and album. And she takes us on this journey with her. It’s more than just music, and art. It’s something we are happy to see and are even happier seeing her happy and becoming collected as a person, because In the beginning, we defended her and understood her and now are proud of her!
Blue Banisters has been widely speculated to be about "bruises", most likely emotional, that this dude inflicted on her. Bruises start blue and that's the color he was gonna paint her banisters, and then they go greenish and grey, which are the colors her sisters (her actual sister and her friends) were gonna paint the banisters. So it's like an ode to her sister and friends who help her move on from the hurt he caused. Also, it seems there could be a bit of reference to the sadness still being there deep down, since it's like her sisters painting green and grey over the blue, which would mean the blue is still lurking underneath.
I love that she continued the vocal experimentation with a rougher vocal/screaming style from the bridge in Dance Till We Die into Black Bathing Suit and Dealer and to lesser extents through some of the other tracks. Her vocals shine like diamonds on this album! 😍
I swear Blue Bannisters gets better with every listen. I really think it’ll age beautifully and be considered one of her best works. The lyrics and atmosphere of the album feel so personal and authentic. My favorite tracks right now are Violets for Roses and Cherry Blossom. 🌸
I have a different perspective about wildflower wildfire. During a live, on instagram, Lana said We will listen a word, one word, that she never said or sang before! Which i believe is... Mother... “I’m not friends with my mother, but i still love my dad” (black bathing suit) when in wildflower wildfire she sings: “My father’s wife” as a synonym to the word “mother”. Is known that Miss Del Rey does not have a big of a connection to her mother, Patty!

This was an awesome video, tysm Steven! How fucking beautiful is this album? Like I can’t even, she said the album’s like a story and I totally hear it. The way she says “no one does it better” as the song does that switch up she does so well in other tracks lol like, no one does it better than Lana 💕
With the "Mommy is here" line in Cherry Blossom, it could be considered to be her talking to younger self as a sort of motherly figure since her own mother wasn't there for her. It could also be a lullaby for her future daughter since Angelina was a name she used to have chosen for a daughter's name. OR, it could be about a miscarriage she had since there's the line about a "little ghost" and Angelina comes from angel...Whatever the meaning, it's actually an old song that got leaked and she added it to this album.

It's so funny cuz when I first became a Lana fan in late 2015 (!!!...how has it been this long already and how does she already have 8 albums out and how have I been here for the release of half of them?? time is crazy man lol) I was a young dumb 14 yr old and learned a lot of stuff from listening to her music. There were many many times where I was like "What does that word mean? What is this a reference to? What does this song mean?" Now as an almost 21 yr old (who obviously knows a lot more than she did as a 14 yr old haha), I attribute a lot of my intellectual and interpretive growth to her. I think Blue Banisters was the first time I listened to a Lana album (new or not, even tho Chemtrails was kinda like this too) and instantly knew what she was talking about for most of the songs instead of having to relisten a few times to get them. There have been multiple occasions over the years since I became a fan where I've come up against something and understood it because of her music. It's wild how much I've learned from her that no one in my personal life has taught me. I am who I am and know a lot of what I know because of her. That's so crazy that someone who doesn't even know I exist has influenced my formative years so much and had such a big part in shaping me into the person I am. 🤯
@@zvezda553 Yesss I knew about her before I became a fan but there was one day I was doing homework and I was listening to cello covers of songs (I'm a cellist) and listened to one for Summertime Sadness. I then listened to the actual song and became instantly OBSESSED with it and started my journey then and there haha. It's so cool that we're basically getting to grow up with her 🥺💙
In text book: when lana sings "her" she talks about Lana del rey, this "alterego" that people put on her and how end up destroying her. How the media take control of the narrative of her art and say that lana was: inmoral, racist (never understood why the call her like that), no feminist, etc etc etc that she wants older man always and how she painted this picture of a sad, weak, vulnerable woman: not feminist....and all that. How this narrative of the media take her artistic expression to another place complety different. Thats why lana sings: You know im not that girl....because she wasent this lana del rey that the media said, she screams for black lives matter, ect
“Wildflower Wildfire” is actually about her biological mother. She has not got along with her mom ever since her early teenage years, and I believe her mom sent her off to a boarding school when she was struggling with alcoholism as a teen. It’s kinda rare to find pictures of her with her mom because she’s not close to her. “Cherry Blossom” is also suspected to be a song that is from Lana’s point of view as an adult now. She’s comforting herself as a child and being the motherly/strong figure that she once needed.
Sweet Carolina refers to her sister Caroline who's also the Chucky in Blue Banisters. Lana wrote it with Chuck and their dad when Chuck was pregnant (she just gave birth a few months ago) and she was scared she'd get postpartum depression aka the "baby blues". The playful second verse really seems to be an effort to make Chuck laugh and cheer her up. Such a sweet, heartfelt song and I love how the last line in it, and last line on the album, is "Don't write me a letter, cuz I'll always be right here, closer to you than your next breath my dear" cuz that almost makes it seem like she's expanding that line to refer to her fans too, saying she's there for us with her music 🥺 Also, on a technical level, I LOVE HOW SHE GOES ALL JONI MITCHELL IN THAT CHORUS OMG
I love the emphasis she put on self-love and family and friends in this album 🥺💙 Brad Evans (I think, I've watched lots of reactions to this album so I could be wrong about who said this lol) said he liked how she seemed to be transitioning from tryna find love in a romantic relationship and failing, to finding it in her relationships with her family and friends in the last few tracks and realizing maybe that's all she really needs...excuse me while I go sob my eyes out haha
Heyy buddy, I really like your reactions and and I want to tell you, your interpretations of Lanas songs isone of the reason of it! So don't stop saying your thoughts about the lyrics, they are valuable and interesting! All of us can feel and get the song and its meaning subjectively! Keep doing good content, cheers :)
‘Blue Banisters’ is Lana’s magnum opus album. It’s perfection. I watched the entire video because I loved seeing how much you were appreciating it’s beauty. 🤙 BTW ‘Living Legend’ was written 10 years ago. Lana wrote it for her mentor Jane Powers, a former model turned real estate agent who helped Lana with her career in spite of her personal chaos and being a nobody at the time.
Great reaction as usual. I love your reactions to Lana's album. Been waiting for this one :) I suggest you do a video about your top 20 favourite Lana's song (and or MV). Just a thought !
on "wildflower wildfire" she's talking about her actual mom, they don't have a good relationship. it's been said in black bathing suit too "what i never said why there's a price on my head, there's nothing to do with them it's my karmic lineage, so I'm not friends with my mother but i still love my dad"
I lLOVE your reaction you’re literally the best , and I love that the video is long so I can hear all your thoughts about the album and I felt like we listen to it together💙💙💙💙
Love your reaction to this album, you nailed it!! Really good point that the pandemic is what everyone in the world 🌎 experienced at the same time, rich or poor.
OMG.. LANA .. i love her songs.. I've been listening her album on loop. Yow man!, morissette releases her Signature EP. I hope you can check on her again.. it's on her channel.. she also posted live performances there.
when she said when his wife would rage at me in wildfire wildflower she meant her mother but she had problems with her thats why she didnt call her my mother she considers her as her father's wife thats it, its so sad and brave of her to talk about it
Oooh I actually really like Steven's theory about Nectar of the Gods. It makes a lot of sense in the context of the album, especially paired with Arcadia like that.
Thunder is about this two faced guy who acts like he's all that and is the life of the party around his friends, but then once it's just him and her, he's a totally different toxic person. So she's telling him to "just do it", meaning to just walk away and leave her before she can become attached to him and have to deal with his accompanying bs. This one was written by her and Miles Kane (the other singer on Dealer, which he wrote with her) and Alex Turner from Arctic Monkeys. Miles and Alex are in a group called The Last Shadow Puppets together.

When Steve said “ Arcadia is her best vocally” I’m like wait until he hears the rest !!!!!
Arcadia is still her best vocally tho. Even it is lana's favorite in terms of vocal

The end of Wildfire wildflower is like she finally has exploded in this bright fire that won't hurt you. She will build you up, not turn you down.

It's so cool that we're basically getting to grow up with her 🥺💙
Dealer on repeat over an over again 😎
your reactions are one of a kind!
Loved this reaction, was eagerly waiting for it!! Tysm for the review!!🤍🤍🤍
And one request, please react to Riverside- Barrie James feat. Lana del rey
Guns in the summertime from living legend is a throwback to Florida Kilos from ultraviolence :))
Thank you for the textbook appreciation!! It’s such a beautiful and unique track ! Love that you were hyped about it 🙌
In text book: when lana sings "her" she talks about Lana del rey, this "alterego" that people put on her and how end up destroying her. Thats why lana sings:
You know im not that girl....because she wasent this lana del rey that the media said, she screams for black lives matter, ect
Been waiting for this!!!
The way I clicked on this so fast ✨
I was waiting for this! KING OF BEING LATE🥰🥰🥰😂
Cherry blossom and living legend break my heart everytime I hear them 🙁 😢 😿 ♥
can’t believe you didn’t show your reaction to the best part of dealer….
Really enjoyed your perspective of ‘chaos’ in this album, something I’ve never heard from any other music reviewers. Totally agreed!
‘Blue Banisters’ is Lana’s magnum opus album. It’s perfection. I watched the entire video because I loved seeing how much you were appreciating it’s beauty. 🤙
BTW ‘Living Legend’ was written 10 years ago. Lana wrote it for her mentor Jane Powers, a former model turned real estate agent who helped Lana with her career in spite of her personal chaos and being a nobody at the time.
Great reaction as usual. I love your reactions to Lana's album. Been waiting for this one :)
I suggest you do a video about your top 20 favourite Lana's song (and or MV).
Finally you drop this albummmmm
Thank you for praising our Queen. We Lana stans loves you.
Looking forward to this.
The reaction I have been waiting forrrrrr!
when she said when his wife would rage at me in wildfire wildflower she meant her mother but she had problems with her thats why she didnt call her my mother she considers her as her father's wife thats it, its so sad and brave of her to talk about it
Oooh I actually really like Steven's theory about Nectar of the Gods. It makes a lot of sense in the context of the album, especially paired with Arcadia like that.
Oficially in my top 2 lana albums of all time
I loved Blue Banisters on my first listen, but I don't truly appreciate how amazing her albums are until I watch other people review it too 😭😂
I was waiting for this! So happy when I saw the notification! ❤
I'M DYING I'M DROWNING IN HOMEWORK BUT I HAVE TO WATCH THIS CUZ I'VE BEEN WAITING SO LONG LOL
Have you ever thought of making a REACTION video to tv shows/sitcoms? IF you ever do I would absolutly LOVE to see you react to SANTA CLARITA DIET (zombie alert!), a brilliant show with ONLY 30 episodes (20min long) so you can finish it pretty fast(maybe 1 episode a day or a few a week, depending on your time schedule, even 1 a week would be amazing)! Joel & Sheila's relationship is AWESOME to watch, just love them so much! Drew Barrymore is such an amazing actress & we get the sexy TImothy Olyphant with his awkward smile in the perfect/worst situations... The beginning is a bit slow so please give it a chance, a few episodes and you will be hooked! And a similar sitcom with also only 30ep is WRECKED!!! And for a more suspense, drama, comedy, thriller type show I highly reccomend IMPOSTERS with only 20 episodes... I feel like you would be amazing at reactions to shows with your awesome personality!
oh my goood finallly, literally just searched up your account to check if the Lana one was up and here it iis!!! woohooo
Paolo Nutini - Scream (Funk My Life Up) [Acoustic] you will love it!
This is my favorite Blue Banisters reaction. Thank you Steven for appreciating lana's music
omg the quality of ur video is great!
Omg, yayy!! I was waiting for this!!
Omg you should react to the song “RIverside”. It’s a Ft. with Barrie James (her ex bf). It’s SOO GOOD!!!
