@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork I'm going to take your question in good faith at this point and answer it: In the US, the vast majority of Hollywood, including the film critics, are very politically Left wing. The Leftists like to argue that the Right wing is nothing but bigotry. This film has a Right wing angle (though many would argue it's just a "normal person" angle). Normally, films receive hundreds of reviews from critics (as Beetlejuice did, with over 300), but because the movie critics are so biased, they're refusing to review this legitimate film, one that happened to be the 4th biggest in the US over the weekend. As a result, this film has only been reviewed 5 times (compared to the usual "hundreds"). This is because they are afraid of being accused of being bigots for even viewing the movie. This is why Jahns is being courageous by reviewing it. Yes, he's just doing his job, but hundreds of film critics are either too ideologically motivated or too afraid to.

Makes me wonder. What does Jeremy think about the backlash that he has received? A lot of people on the modern right got there by way of daring to ask a question or have their own opinion about something. only to discover that these things are NOT ALLOWED on the left. Then begins the Maoist demonization, except when it happens to you, you realize you aren't a demon, and therefore question the demonization of everybody else who's been demonized. I've seen THAT movie before, but eh. I'd buy it on BluRay. Good enough to watch again some day.
@@robertthomas6363 "What does Jeremy think about the backlash that he has received?" In the comments section I see no hate. So I'm guessing all this hate is from X and all of the virtue weirdos obsessed with race and gender. They used to be confined to tumblr. One of your most viewed videos since DP & Wolverine, people are talking about you on reddit and twitter (free publicity) and a huge influx of new subscribers... damn, this is a win no matter how you look at it
I came here after skimming a mini-blog on the matter and I'm more thankful I don't use Reddit/Twitter. My only question is, has Jahn ever reviewed satires on right wing ideology? I don't buy the argument that he's racist over one review (probably a cherrypicked take), but I don't believe anyone can be truly neutral.
@scrittle Believe it. I am watching him since 2017 and I have realised he is as apolitical as they come, also he has never brought politics in his reviews, even though he is from an hardcore liberal city like Seattle. Also isn't Hollywood 99 percent liberal with liberal actors doing movies whch are taking dig at right wing ideologies every now and then? Jeremy has also reviewed those movies, where was the outrage when he reviewed Civil War? And if Jeremy is reviewing this 'Am I racist' movie, he is just giving his balanced opinion like always, solely from a critic's perspective, he has no dog in this fight.
@everythingisawesome2903 After all the heat has died down I'm willing to think he makes an effort to be neutral, although his reluctance to explore political topics in a political movie is a detriment to his review (speaking for Civil War here). A majority of this controversy is centred on Matt Walsh, Jeremy Jahns finding his movie funny escalated him to a target. Now I'm no American so I don't have a personal stake in American politics (outside foreign policy) which is why I originally made my reply, but from what I gathered Matt Walsh is the "trigger the libs" sorta folk and that does turn me the wrong way. But before I ramble on Matt Walsh and ethics I'll cut it short and say Jahns' only guilt is liking a movie made by a controversial figure. Jahn gave no endorsement in the video so I don't find the reaction justified, leaving me to conclude it was a knee-jerk Twitter mob. Finally, I'm still not going to sub to Jahn: 1) I don't like movie reviewers because I don't like cherrypicking and being told what to think. 2) something about his body language and demeanour rubs me the wrong way, I can't exactly identify it, but then again I mainly watch neurodivergent content creators which may be a fault on by behalf. Tl;dr - probably a reactionary Twitter mob going after Jahn for liking something Matt Walsh made.
@@Lanooski too much of a stretch. Reviewers who don't skip movies based on politics are more credible. So if I want to decide what movie to watch I'd trust them more

Matt Walsh has freedom of speech, and uses it to be a bigoted asshat. Just like Jeremy (and most of the world) has freedom of speech, and uses it to rightfully call Matt Walsh a giant fucking moron.
Question: Who is hating on Jeremy for this review? I have not seen a single hate comment on this video, only support for the "hate". Is it off platform or something
Yeah, the "backlash" is always way, way overblown on stuff like this. People want to believe it's a significant problem because they want to feel that they themselves and the people they support are brave and special for talking about a particular topic.
@@macodamia Exactly, its why they are called the loud minority, not the screaming majority. Ya, people on twitter and reddit are saying "Jeremy, I cant believe your a conservative! Unsubscribed." Regardless of what's being said its always safe to remember, the same people who cry for female space marines with a big fat old goose egg of context about the 40k universe, or call some one racist for reviewing a conservative movie about racism, are far outnumbered by the people who wake up in the morning and remember to turn their brains on instead of keeping it on auto pilot.
These are the same people that tried merking trump twice during this election. You think these radicals have any idea what's actually controversial or not? Basically anything that isn't militantly radical left wing ideology is considered controversial to them

This movie has nothing to do with racism and has everything to do with people monetizing peoples guilt, DEI is a big sales pitch. I laughed out loud when Walsh correctly quoted the Content of Your Character saying by MLK, and the DEI workshop facilitator dismissed the statement. MLK is an american hero, we have a national holiday for him and she acted like that statement was wrong. This movie is about the victimization and guilt we are putting on ourselves. And I love Jahn's courage to review this movie!
I mean we had the black panthers and black separatists at the same time as King so I guess this is less surprising as I get older, just more shocking how it’s been adopted by corporate America. I had to take a DEI class at a job 2 years ago…
100%. I'm black, and old enough that I grew up under apartheid, in South Africa. And I completely support Walsh, on this stuff. The supposed "anti-racism" movement of the last decade or so, is a disaster; The EXACT OPPOSITE of what "anti-racism" meant, in the 20th century, when huge progress was being made against REAL, overt, written in law, racial inequality. These people KNOW that genuine racism is such a relic of the past, that they have to cook up ideas like "micro-agressions", to spin trivialities into "oppression", because their politics NEED "oppression" so badly, that they're willing to manufacture it... Black children are NOT being helped, by getting told "The world hates you, because of your race. You are a victim, and oppressed, and white people will treat you unfairly and keep you down"... ...any more than white children are helped, by being told they"re "oppressors", and responsible for events from before their parents were born... Certain politicians and activists, have incomes that RELY on trying to divide us along racial lines, while they PRETEND to be pursuing the exact opposite... ANY law, policy or standard that treats ANY race different to another, is "racism",and unfair, REGARDLESS of whether it says that white, or black, or any other race is inherently bad, guilty, racist, etc. The idea that you OPPOSE racial discrimination, by discriminating based on race (Something the activist in the movie straight-up says is good, and "the way forward") is incredibly harmful. This is NOT about race; Sane, reasonable, free-thinking members of ALL races should ,(and most already do) oppose this mess... This is about a deliberate attempt to divide us, and to PROLONG (and exploit) the final, tiny, scattered, almost -dead embers of racism, trying to exaggerate and re-ignite them, for the benefit of a small number of politicians and activists (of ALL races)
"Educated"(indoctrinated) Black Women nationwide have been conditioned to believe everything MLK did. All his sacrifices. Meant nothing ultimately. Because he may have cheated on his wife. Getting attacked by dogs, police, racists, newspapers, radio shows, being called out of his name nationwide, being arrested multiple times, having the lives of his family, friends or anyone associated with him threatened with death and worst (including the president) through countless letters and phonecalls, having his house blown up. All those things meant nothing because Women back then couldn't respect his Wife. He was a preacher. He knew adultery was wrong. But he wasn't smoking weed and drinking. But I imagine a de-stresser of groupie. Would help while traveling through Jim Crow America. And even after his life was taking from him. Black Women still can't get over the idea that he may have cheated. Like more than 3\4 of the women running around today haven't cheated multiple times, in multiple relationships. For extremely less justifiable reasons.

@@TheDeconstructivist Is it supposed to be? He's reviewing a movie, what is wrong with it? How's it any different from every other movie?
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork I'm going to take your question in good faith at this point and answer it:
In the US, the vast majority of Hollywood, including the film critics, are very politically Left wing.

Never watched any of your reviews but the fact that didn't let politics bias your choice off movies to review earned my respect.
