  • Taking nutritional supplements can be beneficial for some people before or recovering from surgery, however, it’s not as safe and straight forward as it might seem. What vitamins help with healing and scars? Is CBD helpful for recovery? Our nutritional therapy counselor, Amy, gives us the full breakdown of what supplements are helpful and how they work.

    Really enjoyed listening to you both. I am having surgery in 22 days. 😑 I learned so much, and I wrote notes for the anesthesiologist 🙏🏻.

    Hi. Thank you so much for all this information. I listened to your new episode about supplementation too. What strength of the Arnica do you suggest and how many times a day after surgery?

    • @JasonMartinMD
      @JasonMartinMD  Рік тому +2

      Hi Jennifer! Thanks for watching! I would recommend getting an OTC arnica combo called Traumeel. You can get it on Amazon or most healthfood stores.

    Hi how about magnesium glycenate, magnesium citrate , magnesium Malate and probiotic supplements?

    • @JasonMartinMD
      @JasonMartinMD  Місяць тому

      Thanks for watching! Magnesium is a great supplement for most people. Probiotics are very often overused and underdosed, not harmful but may not be as necessary as many people think. They can be helpful in targeted doses around the time of antibiotic usage.

    Hi 🎉 how about indole 3 carbinol? Does this affect surgery ? If so how long should we stop before ? Great video btw 🎉🎉

    • @JasonMartinMD
      @JasonMartinMD  Місяць тому

      Hi Mshellome! Thanks for watching! We would have you stop taking indole-3-carbinol two weeks prior to surgery, it can have an impact on bleeding.

    I use bone broth and fruit, is that adequate for regular diet? I drink smoothies that I make as well. I take low dose aspirin for heart maintenance only. I do take a 10mg statin for high cholesterol. I really don't want to take statins,but I was told that mine is genetic. Is that true?

    • @JasonMartinMD
      @JasonMartinMD  3 місяці тому

      Hi! Thanks for watching! Bone broth and smoothies are great but alone not what I would recommend for the entirety of your diet. It's very important to include whole foods that require chewing and an adequate intake of essential fats to optimize surgical recovery and general health and longevity.

    Are you familiar with Kratom? is that okay to take daily ? would that be a problem for healing at all?

    • @JasonMartinMD
      @JasonMartinMD  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Cecily! That's a great question! If you are using it to avoid opioids post-op or to come off of opioids I would recommend clearing it with your surgeon first. As it is not FDA approved the US, your doctor may or may not be comfortable with use in the immediate post operative period. When discussing this with your surgeon it may be useful to be prepared to provide some research or other supporting evidence of why you would like to use Kratom and how/why it may be a good option for you.

    @JasonMartinMD Which of the T Relief products should we take? I see one that contains 12 other medicinals. 🤔

    • @JasonMartinMD
      @JasonMartinMD  9 місяців тому +3

      Hi Linda, thanks for watching! Yes, that is the over the counter option we recommend. T-Relief is a combination homeopathic for bruising, swelling, and pain. We currently use Traumeel, it is very similar but with 13 ingredients and a slightly higher dosing.

    So does 2,000 GDU a day three times a day mean 2,000 GDU TOTAL for the day or 2,000 GDU at each dosing, 3 times a day?

    • @JasonMartinMD
      @JasonMartinMD  2 місяці тому +1

      Hi Rita! Great question, it's 2000 total for the day.

    What soup do you recommend for healing?

    • @JasonMartinMD
      @JasonMartinMD  5 днів тому +1

      My recommendation is bone broth, preferably homemade with bones from grass fed or pastured animals. I love combining bones and 'parts', beef bones, chicken feet, turkey necks, etc. Amazing for recovery!
