- Another day, another game hunt here in Tokyo. I didn't have to go too far from home this time, taking the train over to Musashi-Koyama station. Just a short walk from there, a Hard Off packed with games and consoles. Awesome!

Those covered Shopping centers are called "Shopping Arcades." BTW. Also you should have grabbed that copy of Atelier Ryza Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout for the Switch. It's an amazing game.

I don't have any NeoGeo of any sorts, but I would have picked up a gamepad for the original NeoGeo if for a good price only because it is such a cool input device. The thumbstick is clicky!
The NeoGeo Mini's gamepads got a boring analogue thumbstick that only emulates digital directions.

Great video and pickups Jim! The PS1 and the PS2 are both overlooked consoles when it comes to shmups, like that Gradius III and IV collection you picked up. There’s even a Strikers 1945 collection on the PS2 and lots of great shmups on the PS1.

Bro... u too spend quite a dime on these cool retrogames...i own many of the games shown here....the Capcom belt collection...i love it....the emulation is better than what u get on the 2 Capcom Arcade Stadium releases, if im not wrong...Famicom Gradius is as old as u, bro...ure born in 1986, isnt it? xD

Is there a good list of English friendly famicom and super famicom games so that if you're in Tokyo buying games and you don't speak any Japanese you actually can find games that you can play. Thanks
You know I just thought of something. I don't see you come across alot of Mortal Kombat games for retro systems. Is that franchise not as big in Japan?
I visited Japan 6 times in the last 17 years and my most recent trip was last month in Tokyo for 2 weeks. The MK franchise is not popular overall in Japan and the same goes with first person shooter games are not popular in Japan as well. I have never seen a MK arcade cabinet at the retro arcade game centers in Japan.
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen one Mortal Kombat game ever in Japan! If so it’s not often.
@@selbyjohnson5986 Back when MK games were released in arcades, you'd see a couple of machines in the Jaapnese arcades. Though the games were never particularly popular in Japan the way they were in the west, it is a highly recognized series in Japan, particularly among gamers.
I occasionally come across the 16-bit MK games, but it obviously wasn't as popular of a series as the Capcom and SNK fighters

Yeah, typically Hard Offs in the city don't have as many games than the ones that are more out of the way.
shout-out to belt-action collection I picked that up myself not too long ago, imported that off of amazon! Just thought it would be cool to own a physical edition. (the inside artwork is great too, peep the little Haggar sprite beneath where the cart sits!) Gradius 3&4 I definitely want to import at some point, that and part 5! always fun to watch these pickup videos sometimes it'll even inspire me in my collecting!

Nashville TN has something to that are we call the arcade but it has nothing to do with gaming it was a carnival arcade back in 30 and 40s and thats where the name came from unless i am mistaken but i could be wrong

@@rubenmejia4881 Oh, I see. Right now I only take requests via my Patreon page, I'm not selling via my Facebook page for example. People pay a monthly subscription, $60-$200, and I go and find games for them.
