It’s interesting thinking how I would spend my money if I was ridiculously obscenely rich. I cannot see spending $700M on a yacht. But spending half that much I could build a magnificent mineral collection and a very secure building to house it and the staff to make it available to the public.

That’s a great idea and they’re called museums if you ever have specimens worth showing the public you can lend it or donate it to a museum and they’ll display it.

@@Hashdollars No, I chose not to say museum specifically because that would be limiting. It could be an extension of my home. It could be part of an Art Gallery or retail business. It could be part of a center where lovers of rocks and gems could gather for many purposes. And I was being descriptive to emphasize how much could be done with a lot less money than $700M. I don’t know why your sarcasm was necessary.
I can definitely see that gold as art instead of just a hunk of gold. The way it grew is just beautiful. The geometric shapes that it formed combined with it's luster is just *chef's kiss .
Honestly if I was someone who could even consider buying something like that I'd snatch that gold up so fast. Just stunning, really.
Whoever owns that Aquamarine must possess some incredible magical powers. There's no way something that incredible doesn't belong to wizards and witches.

That aqua beryl was quite stunning.
She was really loving that $1.25 million crystal. No clue why, but the innuendo's paint a picture.
The most beautiful and the most precious and unimaginable worth gemstone is that lady in the video. None of these inanimate rocks matters to me.

Esses espécimes não são vendidos no Brasil, infelizmente. Mesmo querendo, não temos acesso a isso. Vai tudo para USA e Europa. Nós ficamos com cascalho rolado. É uma pena.
That paraiba tourmaline is pretty cool for sure. I really like the gold though just because it's a metal and not something that you normally think of as being crystalline. I do casting with aluminum bronze and when you acid etch the pieces afterwards you can see the crystal structure of the metal on the surface. It's just fascinating to me that something you think of as solid metal, is actually a crystalline structure. I've actually electrolyticly grown some small copper crystals. It's really tricky though and I've only ever gotten one small one. It usually just Electro plates onto the piece but sometimes a Crystal starts growing. Trick is keeping it growing without it just electroplating over.

This was a real treat to watch. If could afford it I would have gotten the Paraiba tourmaline, the morganite and the rhodochrosite.
The pieces shown on this episode were just incredible!!!! I about lost my mind when I saw the Paraiba Tourmaline. All of the specimens shown were incredible but man the size and color of the Paraiba is just mind-blowing! Thank you for sharing!!!!

I hate knowing I'll never be able to have pieces even close to this in my collection, I thought I was crazy enough spending $2k on a large museum quality gemmy cinnabar on matrix.
Isn't cinnabar gonna slowly degrade overtime?
@@tapijtzweet6854 You just have to keep it cool in a nice air tight display. (In some cases in the dark)
Or yes the mercury could slowly leak, and it will experience degradation/tarnishing.
WHY would you spend $2,000 on cinnabar when you could have gotten LOADS of rough uncut Star Sapphire/Ruby, among literally hundreds of other options of good gemstones you could make your money back with? Why a Cinnabar specimen?
You literally could have gotten 10 pounds of rough decent quality gemstones (with some very high quality hidden within, most of the time) AND you could have bought all the stuff you needed to cut the stones and make whatever you want to make.
You just bought something to look at instead. I don't get it, you could have ended up looking at some of your money back or all of your money back if you scored, plus a bunch of extra stones you could wear yourself in a ring if you wanted, or sell those too. Could have learned how to cut stones too, all of that for under $2,000.
@@Nervii_Champion Not all people collect to make money lmao, to many it's a passionate hobby, not an investment.
Besides, people collect specimens for the natural beauty, making gemstones out of them for profit would be a shame.
Let people spend their money on whatever they want, they earned it and therefore get to spend it on what they desire.

Wow! This is the best video "Gemstones" has ever made. That is the most beautiful aquamarine I have ever seen, that color is amazing. I thought all of the specimens are stunning museum pieces. I wish I had the money to buy them all. Top pieces, the Morganite, the Paraiba, the Silver, and the Rhodochrosite, are my favorites. I will save this show, and watch it over & over again.
Can you explain what would happen if someone accidentally dropped, or bumped into one of these stones and it broke? Is there laws that protect peasants, or is their life ruined? It seems like it would be very unpleasant having to watch every microstep while going to a rich persons house. One wrong move and they'll send you to the rancor.
Well, gemstones at these levels of cost are likely insured in some way. But, these were such unique and beautiful pieces, it would have been a real tragedy to damage them.

The aquamarine!!! I also love a large crystal clear Fluorite!! These are all amazing!! Black opal is the only other thing to compare besides maybe a giant clear diamond in the rough! Wow!!

The aquamarine was making me very anxious when it was vertical. My brain was like "just lay down on the table so you are nice & safe".

That rhodochrosite... I don't see them outside the common "space bacon" formations that often and that one is simply astonishing.
I am torn between the rhodochrosite (just a few hours from Sweet Home Mine and I have dreamed a long time about having one that beautiful) and the paraiba because it’s just so striking and unique.

I've been a rock hound my entire life.
I have metric tons of minerals in crystalline form.
I have 2 ft long Smokies from the White mountains.
Herkimer diamonds petrified wood fossils.
As much as I love all these things.
It's disgusting the value we put on rocks.
It doesn't matter how rare it is.
You could have the Hope diamond in one hand or fragmented River worn Garnet.
They both have the same value in my mind
those are insurance prices, a bit high but the rhodochrosite was a saucy deal!! especially for the lack there of eye clean gem quality specimens.
I was blown away, when I saw Paribia tourmaline in 1995.I bought 2 - 5 pointer cabochons .And 2 round cut 10 pointers.The box of hundreds was absolutely magnificent new color.The cost was low at first.i got lucky.

Interesting. Well! I blv the Million dollar stone is Aquamarine which is the Beryl group. I and a team of geologists once found some very large, naturally polished Aquamarine in Northern Kenya. little did we know that it can fetch such amount of Money.

I found an incredible specimen of Aragonite (well at least it was labeled that way) for dirt cheap and never could find a similar looking specimen on internet to see the real value. Is there a place where I can post it to get some opinions?

I hv a question for you though...is there a way to tell if the inside of the geode will hv color or will just be white?? I know you never know what the inside would look like or what color it will be. But is there a way to tell if it had color or not???
wow! 450k! I bough a couple small paraiba tourmaline mineral specimens 15 years ago in tokyo for 30 bucks each. there no where near that quality but my guess there worth more than 30 bucks. just like that with the purple on the inside. cool! but I should of bought the big one the same size as the 450k. dam it. it was only 1,600ish back in 2005.

Just pretty rocks. I love jewelry but honestly, quarts is very common and beryl isn’t far behind it. So much of it so crazy it can cost so much. Marketing really works.
Question… I got a specimen of rubellite tourmaline in matrix at a gem and mineral show bc it was a good price, and I keep my specimens on a huge shelf that is painted white. Over the course of like a week, there is an oily stain under the specimen on the shelf. Like grease on a paper towel or on your shirt. What is this?
It's hard to say for certain without examining the specimen, but one possibility is that it was oiled to improve its appearance before the show and that oil is just seeping out now, particularly if it is under warm incandescent lights. The seller may have paid attention to making the rubellite look good while neglecting to properly clean excess oil off the rest of the sample. Do you still have the original packaging? Is it oily? Sometimes the oil will impart a smell that is a clue to its identity, like baby oil, which is quite a thin oil and would be prone to seeping out. If the matrix is a quartz or feldspar, there is no harm in washing it in warm soapy water. Clumsy oiling will attract dust and spoil the appearance, so it is worth cleaning it...another thought is that specimens generally can be pretty dirty from transportation at shows, etc. so there’s a chance it had gathered dirt and oil, and this was just part of the settling process of gravity

I would love to do something with gemstones, but yea I am from the Netherlands there is not so much here. But I would love to someday walk with someone talking about this and looking and learning.
The Netherlands has some nice minerals there. There is some very nice top quality flourite from there. I believe there is some really nice quartz crystals there too. I'm sure there's more.
I'd be pretty okay with more mined gemstones being left on matrix for display and the use of synthetics for jewelry, but I also don't have much of an appreciation for authenticity when it comes to jewelry, as long as it's pretty. But you just can't get specimens that look like that out of a lab. mother nature can give you something that unique.
