That feeling of closeness is the seed of this version of Luthor's fall to villainy. He truly felt that Clark was closer than a brother to him, and that they were destined to be the greatest of friends. When he finally knew for a certainty that Clark had been holding him outside of the circle of trust, outside of the people who knew his true origin, it really broke Lex's heart.
They were such BROS, WHAT HAPPENED!!??
My heart really went out for Lex, feeling as he did and rightly, that his own father did not truly love him, his father blaming him for the death of his other son ... when all along it was the mother who killed that child. You can feel the goodness in Lex in these scenes with Clark, at one time they really were like brothers.
2:55 -- "It's a foil, Clark. Every hero should have one." A foil can be a sword, or a foil can be a character who contrasts with or opposes the protagonist, serving to highlight (by contrast) the qualities of the hero or heroine. What a perfect, sad line.

i don't think i fully appreciated michael rosenbaum's acting when i watched this show. like i knew he was good and brought the lex character to life well but the subtle stuff he does is so impressive.
He‘s a really good actor. He also played the best flash imo.

Crazy how we see the story of Lexs brother that died later in the series in a flashback episode in season 3.

Its weird to see Clark and Lex get along together... almost makes me wonder how they ever hated each other in the other series
That's the thing though they both treated each other like brothers if Clark told Lex straight up about everything things would have turned out differently. Just like how we learned about reverse flash in Flash Armageddon, reverse-flash hate the flash because Flash treated him like garbage in the future he took his save.. it goes back to the old quote from Iron Man 3 we create our own demons

Believe this and sincerely repent of your sins each time you sin and you will have eternal life and nothing to fear. Fail to repent and you will end up in the Lake of Fire.
