Rance 808 I’ve always wondered why Lex had such a vehement animosity for Kal throughout the years in the films and the comics. Hell even in All-Star his argument was basically, “He’s different because he comes from a different planet and our sun benefits him, don’t you think that’s unfair” Hate and love are two sides of the same coin, Smallville did a fantastic job of showing how close these two men were, brothers in all but blood, meeting as children during the initial meteor shower, and coming back into each other’s orbits during the high school years. It’s so well done how they are such great friends, but the choice to keep their own secrets instead of taking each other into confidence is what ended up tearing apart their relationship and turning their dearest of friendships, into the bitterness of rivalries.

Clark is the true villain in smallville. Alot of the people could have been saved with a little compassion and some explanation about why they were mutated. They could've learnt how to use their powers.
They could've looked for persons affected and made a support group. And warned everyone about the effects of the meteor. Instead they wrote articles for a school newspaper and ruined everyone's lives including his father.
@@michealmahmoud6391 bro did you even watch the show Lex recruited criminals from Bellreev to take Clark's parents hostage to discover Clark's secret what kind of a friend does that. It was wise of Clark not trusting Lex.
Although there is no excuse for Lex killing his father, I do feel sorry for Lex in a way. I mean, Lionel brought him up terribly and let's face it, Jonathan Kent NEVER gave him a fair chance and was extremely judgmental. I agree but Clark gave him a chance and was his best friend whether he told Lex or not about his secret. Lex just went off the rails and turned evil by himself. I think Jonathan was wrong to not give him a chance because Martha gave Lionel a chance and she, I think, is a big part of the reason he changed and made sacrafices.
That vein on Lex's head got bigger and bigger the more intense the scene became. Also when he says everyone could trust Clark at 2:52, Rosenbaum teared up a bit, as if he was hurt by saying that to him. Great acting.
Wow! I went back and looked at that clip. The vein did pop his jealousy and hurt was in full display at that point. His only comeback was to hypothetically ask the question if raising the perfect son caused so much stress on Jonathan‘s heart. That was pure anger and hurt, mixed with jealousy talking then. With all the earthly riches that Lex had, he still couldn’t match up to Clark.
I don't blame Lex for turning insane/evil. He was right about that whole Lionel thing. Lionel NEVER loved him at all. But all of a sudden took Clark under his wing and treated him like gold.
Truthfully it was always gonna end that way. You could see it in lex early on, he cared too much about power and greed. Whether or not Clark told him his secret lex would always turn out that way based on alternate realities and just who he is as a person. But I agree, Lionel definitely made it worse
@@erikphelan7508 people always make this argument, and while it's technically true because Lex is written to be the villain, I think this version of Lex was definitely not doomed from the start. He sacrificed learning the truth about Clark a couple of times for the sake of their friendship. But Clark left him alone in the dark about everything happening around them - strange occurrences, meteor freaks, people dying - and Lex really couldn't draw any other conclusions than the ones he did: that Earth needed protecting.
@@blue.5671 true enough. It’s just hard to know that someone destined to be Superman could have saved someone liked lex but didn’t because he’s too stubborn for his own good
Both Clark and lex are to blame. They didn't trust each other. They both also made the wrong choices. I feel sorry for them both. Their fates were always sealed. They were such great friends.
Yeaaaah but Clark was right to not trust Lex. He would've eventually made Clark use his powers for his (Lex's) own benefit down the line regardless of the morality of it.
I always believed that too. Lex would have definitely tried to take advantage of Clark and if Clark didn't go along with it he'd likely have resorted to using either the green or red kryptonite to force his way.
@raymondman09 I don't know if I could have done better, but I would have tried to be more funnier. I mean why the hell hire a comedian to play a bad guy and then hardly ever let him be funny?
@raymondman09 What? Really? Is that a law? When was it written? I didn't hear about this! Are you saying that they are SERIOUS by LAW? All the time? Are you saying that They turned all superhero stories that originated from "COMIC" books, into seriousness. OH LORD HELP ME! Oh dear heavens! Just hand the whole planet worth of humans over to slavery of the (star trek reference ahead) Bogonans now! Life is no longer worth living when comics are no longer 'supposed' to be funny. But then I can see their point in doing so. I mean the majority of people on this planet right now are so uptight that they wouldn't notice a joke if it walked up and farted in their general direction.
In season 3 he was dying of an incurable liver disease and the phone call was regarding Dr. Swann and the info he had on Clark if I remember correctly.
The script AND the acting in this scene... so good. Lex does this thing with his eyes in this scene like he regrets so much but he is trying to hide it with anger.
I agree. Clark always prejudges lex (something he probably learned from Jonathan). There is even an episode in wich lex says is this the part where you start prejudging me. When clark needed help lex always answered ofcourse. Still clark calse him selfish and in this case says that he just doesn't try hard enough for people to be proud of him. This just seems like another case of clark not having all the information. Because what started the hate Lional had towards Lex is that he thought that Lex killed his brother. But it was in fact his wife that did it. Lex took the fall for her to protect her from his father. Lex always tried to do good. it just never was recognised. People always thought the worst of him. And when he actually did do something wrong there was no redemtion for him. When clark messed up bigtime afterwards his friends welcome him back with open arms.
Their chemistry are perfect! and they both are really talented... when Lex says "Of course, everyone can trust Clark Kent" I feel so sad for him...Aww Lex and Clark is so sexy when he says "are you blaming me for my father's death...are you?" Perfect scene
I just love that scene, there's nothing more of the friendship between Clark and Lex from the first seasons. Lex only feels hate and jealousy towards Clark.
@christina170 I agree Rosenbaum and Welling could play off each other so well, even before this scene. Almost every scene with them was awesome. Welling was good at playing the man who would become the savior and Rosenbaum was good at playing the man who would become the destroyer.
Clark is partly to blame for Jonathan's death because if he had left Lana dead instead of asking Jor El to turn back time so he could save her Jonathan would never have died. Jor El even warned Clark that if he saved Lana then he was giving up the life of someone else he cared about. But apparently the life of his obsessive crush mattered more than the life of the man who raised him. Clark's obsession with Lana made him selfish most of the time.
Clark's decision to put on the red kryptonite ring at the end of season 2 I believe was the reason for his fathers death, not the time change and he didn't know his Johnathan was going to die
+Xehanort10 You make sound like he purposely threw Jonathan to wolves for Lana. Yes, he was reckless and selfish, but he didn't want him or anyone else to die.
TheMegaUzumaki to be fair jonathan kent was a way better parent than lionel. Clark on earth 2 was raised by lionel and became just as ruthless if not more ruthless.
Xehanort10 not to mention that Jonathan had a bad heart because Jor-el temporarily gave him kryptonian powers to face off against red K Clark in the season three premiere.
TheMegaUzumaki I don't think he does at this point in his life but yes by season 9 he does. And Lex kinda is justified Season 1-3 Lionel was a monster, not to mention what he did to Lex during his childhood.
I could've sworn at 3:06 he was going to figure his secret out. That's how he should've found out. I remember when I first saw this episode I was like oh shit he's going to figure out his secret.
He always knew, but just never wanted to believe it. When he found out, as I recall it was like "Who is The Traveler? ....you know who it is..." He is just too smart to not figure it out, but didn't want to actually think it was true(?)
@@ScrubNigel the show made it a point that Lex knew but just needed to either see it (like when Lex went mad and Clark stopped a car from hitting him "I was right about you all along Clark") or hear it being confirmed Seasons 1-7 was basically Lex on a mission to *confirm* his suspicions, just as it was Clarks journey to stop thinking of Lex as having any good in himself, when Clark finally stopped thinking of Lex as a friend and realised that Lex had no good in him, Lex had come to the mindset that there was no mysteriousness to Clark, that Clark was a simple farmboy, but that mindset was quickly washed away because Lex found out Clark was the traveler
When Clark started walking towards Lex, I thought he was going to hit him for sure! Lex saying what he said about Jonathan, I loved the father/son relationship between Jonathan and Clark
@@sirlunacy8066 It wasn't there, because the entire idea of the Veritas Society wasn't written until Season 7. That was pretty late into the show's run.
Cant remember if it was Smallville or another Superman show but I remember there was a conversation between Lex and probably Superman? About how if Lex focused all his power and influence on improving the world, he could even eclipse the deeds of Superman in a way.
ond day when I get a job I will buy the whole collection in the best quality available with the delted scenes and alternate stuff then I will , then I will buy thehighest quality sound system and video system , and the biggest screen , and I will watch this series for days !!! the only seasons I havent watched are 2 & 3 . I just luv this show , lex was the reason I got addicted to this.
well lex has always been my favourite character , cuz well... lets just say that I've been thru stuff a lot simmiliar to what he's been through. I've had friends who betrayed me ,a gf who dumped me .and somehow I'm still the bad guy.the point is I see myself in lex.
God if they ever remake smallville into a more focused story it will be awesome to see what they would do with this lex luthor and clark kent friendship
Michael supreme valdez bad boy Clark has made mistakes. What makes him a hero is he tries to make up for his mistakes. What makes Lex a villain is he covers up his mistakes.
This is what makes Superman, Superman... he stands on his soapbox & he's naive & stubborn... Clark has flaws too. It's part of what masked him who he is.
If I think about it in a way Clark did kill his father too. He was indirectly responsible for his death because of the deal he made with jorel to save lana. So why is he any better?? Just because he didn't do it himself.
Botond Török you said that like he (clark) knew what was going to happen, it wasn't his intention and he wasn't thinking straight, besides jonathan's heart problems came long before his death and he was the one who did a deal with joel.
Fried Frog I mean Clark didn’t mean to kill his father Clark would never have done any of the things he did if he knew that he would end up hurting his family everyone here it talking about how it’s all Clark’s fault like he just went up to his father and stabbed him or something and for all we know Jonathan could have died right after Lana we don’t really know what would have happened after Lana died plus you also have to remember Clark’s a teenager just a kid imagine being 19 and having the weight of the world on your shoulders Clark has gone through so much he has been shot stabbed incapacitated so many times and then having to go through the stress of everyone he loves being kidnapped and having to save them most of us on here are stressed about tests and school but Clark has had to go through so many traumatic experiences
Many blame Clark for not telling Lex the truth about his powers and heritage, and they think that Lex would've turned out differently if he was trusted. But this entitlement to know someone else's secrets stems from the need for control that turned Lex from a good friend to a jealous bitter man. Respecting boundaries and letting it go was the only way Lex could've fought his inner demons.
That’s what was so brilliant about this show. We follow Clark’s journey and feel that Lex is the villain. But,in the real world, wouldn’t we turn to the man that could protect us from other worldly beings wanting to destroy us? Without knowing who Clark is,I would side with Lex.
Smallville's Lex Luthor is the first time I've ever seen a character I both despised and felt sorry for....andbalso kinda liked just because he was so badass and eloquent. Lol.
@@nkuniverse7856 I mean it’s a pretty big part of Superman’s origin that Jonathan Kent dies, unless you’re totally unfamiliar with his origin we all knew it was gonna happen
Everyone always seems to forget that Clark barely ever told anyone his secret until he had to. Why did Lex, a man that came into Clark's life as a high school freshman, expect him to tell his secret, when he had never told his lifelong friends? Clark accepted him as a friend, yes, but there was always a level of unwariness in his face every time Lex went on his weird tangents. "Our friendship will mark legend" "I don't want anything to get in the way of our friendship, Clark" Not to mention that one of Clark's subtle abilities is super-thinking. He ALWAYS could tell when an ill-intended bad guy was in his presence. Clark could tell Lex had one foot in darkness early on. Would you tell a friend your innermost secret if even for a moment you could see darkness in him? No. And it didn't take long for Lex to prove himself not 100% trustworthy. (The room where he keeps the crashed car episode). People always say "Lex wouldn't've turned on Clark if he'd told him the truth." Maybe. Or maybe Lex would've turned on him SOONER. Someone as sociopathic as Lex would've eventually abused Clark's trust and asked him for something to do with his powers or alien heritage ( Like Earth-2 Lionel Luthor with his Clark). What if Lex had sucked Clark in and made him just like his Earth-2 counterpart? I don't believe Lex would've changed. If anything, the unconfirmation of Lex never knowing for sure Clark's secret was what kept him from snapping and eventually try to oppose Clark.
Neither Clark nor Lex loved Lana. They were both just obsessed with her because the characters had the original producers creepy obsession with Lana's actress Kristin Kreuk projected onto them.
I think a lifetime of gaslighting and abuse from Lionel, then copious doses of meterorite radiation, regular blows to the head, hallucinogenic drugs, murderous spouses and a potentially lethal dose of electroshock therapy did most of the work tbh. Hard to be stable or have healthy relationships when everyone you ever trust or care about blatantly lies to you, gaslights you, and eventually tries to murder you, let alone when your brain is constantly trying to recover from some form of damage or another.
Actually Clark and his family DID NOT try to be friends with Lex. In fact they, and especially Jonathan, constantly judged Lex on the actions of Lionel and blamed every Luthor for Lionel's actions.
“My father just died & you’re already breaking & entering”! 1 of many BEST lines by actor Michael Rosenbaum as Lex! For a man who chose to literally kill his own father (in the show) all without showing any remorse he certainly made pretending to care about his father’s death so convincing in this scene! 👏Then of course, once Clark (handsome actor Tom Welling) mentions he has “proof”’ all the while looking Lex straight in his eyes Lex then somewhat shows just a bit of emotion (concern or panic) realizing Clark means business & he’s not joking! He will make Lex pay! Job well done to both actors!
Lex is foolish. He always blamed other people for his downfall, when in reality it was always his obsessions that drove him to villainy. Yes, Clark kept secrets but Lex certainly kept plenty of his own from Clark. Clark never "turned his back" on Lex. The truth was, Clark was trying to be friends with him again when Lex released three meteor freaks to attack Clark, his parents and Lana to see if Clark really did have some sort of powers. Some friend...
Tumorikaxx It would be still the same, Lex has a dark heart. You can see it in season 7 episode 18 (apocalypsis) where Clark Kent does not even exist and he turns evil anyways
When they introduced the "other Earths" concept, I thought these two would become friends, but then Lex would be murdered by Earth-2s Lex and THAT Lex would be the evil one we all know nowadays and no one would know the difference except Clark. Similar to how this Lex ended up dying in the S8 explosion and was resurrected via a clone and Earth-2 Lionel masquerading as our E1 Lionel and no one else outside of the superhero circle knows
Always loved their relationship. But this conversation in particular highlights Lex turn to madness. He's not wrong with what he's saying and Clark makes out likes he is making all the previous situations up.
clark is a huge hypocrite. he lies again. lex was right about jonathan dying because of clark, and he acts like it isnt his fault. he is directly responsible for his death. and then he goes on to lie again about their parents feeling the same for lex as they did clark if he tried. he knows damn well that lex did everything he could to get the love of lionel and jonathan. he stuck out his neck for the kents more times then i can remember all he asked for was that they accepted him as a friend. but just as much as he did, they would throw him under the bus. they would use him for his wealth and then shit on him. Lionel abused him his whole life. And yet lex would keep trying to be a normal family with him well into his adult life. Finally when lionel had ruined him totally, did he try to change it, but it was to late then. Not only that, but he dropped lex for clark. The only one who treated and did see lex like a human just like the rest was martha. jonathan would yell at him, and then run for his help, and then yell at him after he got it. Same with clarke. Who blamed him for keeping secrets, when he lied to everyone he loved himself on a daily basis, and keep lying after lex trying to get him to open up.
TheMegaUzumaki this is about clark though? Am i wrong somehow? Did clark not lie insisting it was for the good of people as he basically broke lana’s heart season after season? Im not saying lana is a saint but you cant admonish clark of any guilt. To be honest it wasn’t that he lied it was how he lied, like Tess once said. If he just said its something personal to him and he doesn’t want to share it, at least he put it out there, but nah he makes everyone feel like they are high on drugs after he runs into an exploding building and comes out fine and says “its just a trick of the eyes” or some shit like that.
Everybody keeps saying that Clark is responsible for the death of his father. And yeah it was but it’s not like he purposely killed him or wanted him to die. Clark loved his dad but made all the wrong choices which resulted in his death but it was still an accident and he didn’t intentionally murder him like Lex did with his father
They both lost their fathers but in different circumstances. Clark made all the wrong choices but at least he did not mean for his father to die because of it. He felt remorse and did not handle his death correctly. He made a mistake that led to serious pain. Lex on the other hand I don't think he did feel remorse and he intentionally killed his father without blinking. He turned evil and dosent care what he does. So well. It's not like clark is a completely terrible person.
3:30 I mean, Clark DID cause Jonathan's death. When he ran away at the end of S2 with the red kryptonite ring, Jonathan had to borrow Kryptonian powers from Jor-El. Human anatomy isn't made for that kind of power so that caused her heart to develop a life-threatening condition. Later on, Clark was killed and brought back to life by Jor-El. He was told someone will eventually die to bring balance to the universe and that person was Lana, but Clark asked for another change so the universe ended up killing his father instead. Whatever way you look at it, Clark did cause, at least indirectly, his father's death.
Lex was driven to what he became by the people around him. Everyone who Clark called his friend tried to find out about him and one by one, everyone did. Lex was the only one that Clark gave such a hard time about it. Then everyone made Lex feel like he was crazy for trying to find out the truth about things like everyone else was trying to do. Eventually, it drove him crazy.
Are you blaming me for my father’s death? Are you? Well...I mean technically you did blow up the ship and run away from home forcing him to bargain away his life to bring you back home...
No other person is responsible for evil (Lex) even his creep of a father. Clark never trusted Lex for a good reason even during friendship he never felt comfortable thank goodness. If everyone who had a bad childhood turned "bad" a good amount of the population would be criminals/in jail/killers. Lex is who he is because of his choices, Lionel never made him do anything. Lex/Clark was so tired at this point but I am so glad Clark finally accepted Lex as evil and irredeemable.
Absolutely! We make our destiny 100%. We always have a choice. But the conflict in this particular scene is that both Lex and Clark aren't somehow 'responsible' for becoming who they are. And that their fathers' deaths are somehow someone's responsibility. Lex of course physically pushed his father out the building, while Clark's father made a deal with 'higher power'. We always get to choose how we respond to the environments we are in. Great acting - I wish the both of them did more film.
Yes, most are responsible for their own choices unless you are a slave maybe. But choices are also influenced by experiences and people around you. The more negativity and lack of solid love foundation, the more likely it is your choices will be made leaning towards that side. Nobody is 100% free from outer interference.
Exactly what I have been saying. Lex is no victim. Sure sometimes our childhood sucks. But that’s not an excuse to inflict pain on others. The problem begins and ends with Lex.
The best part of this show was the dynamic between Clark and Lex. And the fact that you could genuinely see Lexs side of things, disagree with his methods sure but when literally everyone around him is lying. His father, his best friend, all keeping secrets and lying even when it’s so obvious that’s it’s infuriating. You really can argue that Lex isn’t 100% responsible for how he turned out.
lionel was right when he said u can fool everyone but me lol we all know the guy was literally obsessed about clark and about the past his hunger grew out of control he could just not let it be
Lex was always jealous of for Clark having the family, the support, and love he never had. Lex was the richest man in Smallville, had everything at his disposal, but did not have the one thing he needed, and that was love☹️
I won’t say that lex was jealous but I try to understand why lionel was so cold and evil He killed his parents Shot his son Fired employees Screwed people over Lex even had to deal with the house guest of doomsday Lex was always an after thought to lionel But he made Martha and Clark priority Lex wanted love from his father He wanted wat Clark had But he wasn’t jealous Life just didn’t make sense to him Yes he had wealth status connections But nobody he could trust Hence the fortress of a castle for a home Lex was lost and lived life as an unanswerable question to his father

This is one of the many scenes of why these 2 are the examples of the perfect clark and lex, at least for me. So much depth
They were both great actors. Just amazing.
Michael was born to play Lex, he's a fantastic actor; the series went down spiral when he left.
@NOT YOU Since Kristen and Michael left; the show ended for me.
@TheMegaUzumaki If I was Lex Luthor, I would gladly step aside and leave the task of handling Darkseid to Superman.
The series went down hill after season 7
Arguably one of the best scenes in Smallville. Absolutely fantastic!
It is literally the best scene in smallville. Period!
"My father just died and you're already breaking and entering!"
Lionel would never take his own life
Both Tom and Michael are AMAZING Actors DAMN
"Lionel would never take his own life." Ironically, that's exactly what he tried in season 3.
One thing it's try and another it's to actually do it.
Thats what I was thinking!!
He was about to pull the trigger but his phone ringing snapped him out of it. I think if that hadn't happened he would've went through with it.
Rosenbaum DESTROYED that scene, unbelievable!!! Such a phenomenal performance!
This scene still gives me the chills.
This Clark is so good at gaslighting. I felt frustrated for Lex this whole series. Definitely worth a re-watch!
Lex at this point is a murderer. Sympathy is kind of limited.
Lex is a cruel, evil man at this point of the series. Nobody has sympathy for him.
Their chemistry are perfect!
and they both are really talented...
when Lex says "Of course, everyone can trust Clark Kent" I feel so sad for him...Aww Lex
and Clark is so sexy when he says "are you blaming me for my father's death...are you?"
Perfect scene
One of the greatest scenes in all of Smallville. I loved this episode!
I think Lex was actually scared when Clark said, "I have proof!"
Yup lol😲
Yup the look on his face when he said that
one of the most legendary moments of smallville.
I just love that scene, there's nothing more of the friendship between Clark and Lex from the first seasons. Lex only feels hate and jealousy towards Clark.
My favorite Lex!!!
Jovana Radosavljevic the best Lex
@christina170 I agree Rosenbaum and Welling could play off each other so well, even before this scene. Almost every scene with them was awesome. Welling was good at playing the man who would become the savior and Rosenbaum was good at playing the man who would become the destroyer.
Great friends turn good enemies.
He practically did. For the entirety of Lana's time in the show Clark's obsession with her overrode everything else in his life.
Funny thing is Lex is right, in a way Clark did kill his father.
TheMegaUzumaki I don't think he does at this point in his life but yes by season 9 he does. And Lex kinda is justified Season 1-3 Lionel was a monster, not to mention what he did to Lex during his childhood.
TheMegaUzumaki Hey I'm not saying Lex isn't the villain, but he is kinda justified, Lionel did a lot of horrible things to Lex.
+assasinsknight "kinda justified" is a poor rationalization. Like saying two wrongs DO make a right.
Jonathan Kent died after having a fight with Lionel Luthor.
@TheMegaUzumaki But he didn't do it literally.
I could've sworn at 3:06 he was going to figure his secret out. That's how he should've found out. I remember when I first saw this episode I was like oh shit he's going to figure out his secret.
Joseph Flores right!
Dante Jordan it would've been perfect because it's like yeah "was raising the perfect son that much work? I wonder why
He always knew, but just never wanted to believe it.
When he found out, as I recall it was like "Who is The Traveler? ....you know who it is..."
He is just too smart to not figure it out, but didn't want to actually think it was true(?)
@@ScrubNigel the show made it a point that Lex knew but just needed to either see it (like when Lex went mad and Clark stopped a car from hitting him "I was right about you all along Clark") or hear it being confirmed
Seasons 1-7 was basically Lex on a mission to *confirm* his suspicions, just as it was Clarks journey to stop thinking of Lex as having any good in himself, when Clark finally stopped thinking of Lex as a friend and realised that Lex had no good in him, Lex had come to the mindset that there was no mysteriousness to Clark, that Clark was a simple farmboy, but that mindset was quickly washed away because Lex found out Clark was the traveler
That wouldve been so cool!!
I always get goosebumps when lex blames clark for jonathan's death. Amazing scene
When Clark started walking towards Lex, I thought he was going to hit him for sure! Lex saying what he said about Jonathan, I loved the father/son relationship between Jonathan and Clark
Now this was some good ass acting, it just felt so authentic 😎
There it is. While there has been animosity before, this was the official time Superman declared war on Lex.
One of the best scenes ever in Smallville
Lex and Clark are the perfect rival brothers
lex believes he's protecting the world cuz braniac aka milton fine (disguised as kara) tells him that the 'traveller was sent to destroy the earth :P
ah yes, the stain glassed veritos symbol that magically appeared but had apparently been there the whole time
+Antony D'Andrea I agree with you! Was it there in the earlier seasons? Because I have been re-watching the series.
+adrian Titera not that I can see
crazy huh!
Lmaooooooooo
@@sirlunacy8066 It wasn't there, because the entire idea of the Veritas Society wasn't written until Season 7. That was pretty late into the show's run.
Clark Kent's super power is Gaslighting Lex.
Lex isn't exactly slacking in that department either.
Ahead of its time! Great series, great writers and actors!
I know they are sticking true to the comics but if they trusted each other and learned to work together they would have been an unstoppable team
Cant remember if it was Smallville or another Superman show but I remember there was a conversation between Lex and probably Superman? About how if Lex focused all his power and influence on improving the world, he could even eclipse the deeds of Superman in a way.
i cried and sobbed through this entire episode. lol.
Wow!
3:12-3:59 Lex's theme.
it's such a sad yet beautiful theme
@@kafkaseyebrows I want to know where the music is from though
This is the best moment of Smallville.
He’s the best live-action Lex Luthor… period! “This is SMALLVILLE!!”
Clark: I have proof!
Lex: Darn.
ond day when I get a job I will buy the whole collection in the best quality available with the delted scenes and alternate stuff then I will , then I will buy thehighest quality sound system and video system , and the biggest screen , and I will watch this series for days !!! the only seasons I havent watched are 2 & 3 .
VChuckShunA same here it's why I can relate to lex Luther for similar reasons but I'd never kill my dad that's a line one does not cross
God if they ever remake smallville into a more focused story it will be awesome to see what they would do with this lex luthor and clark kent friendship
clark shouldn't be acting all high and mighty he made mistakes to
Does Martha Kent's unborn baby mean anything to you?
That was an accident.
TheMegaUzumaki his mother killed Julian the first time
Michael supreme valdez bad boy Clark has made mistakes. What makes him a hero is he tries to make up for his mistakes. What makes Lex a villain is he covers up his mistakes.
This is what makes Superman, Superman... he stands on his soapbox & he's naive & stubborn... Clark has flaws too. It's part of what masked him who he is.
One the the best and writter scenes ever that builds to a huge yyyiiiiihhhhhaaaaa ?????????
If I think about it in a way Clark did kill his father too. He was indirectly responsible for his death because of the deal he made with jorel to save lana. So why is he any better?? Just because he didn't do it himself.
He also indirectly caused his heart problems and his mother to miscarry.
assassinsknight because he always tried running away from who he was
Botond Török you said that like he (clark) knew what was going to happen, it wasn't his intention and he wasn't thinking straight, besides jonathan's heart problems came long before his death and he was the one who did a deal with joel.
daniela lls
Is that your excuse
Clark: *gets punched* Happy now?
Lex: Yes, since you have apparently lost your invincibility for no reason whatsoever.
Clark did him dirty in Lex offense no argument.
And let's not forget from the start Clark did want lex to know but johnathan did not want that knowing what the Luthors are capable of
That’s what was so brilliant about this show.
Lol.
this scene was excellent and the acting was so dam good
Wait, Clark's father died? I just got into this series, when did that happen?
Oof you got spoiled it happened in season 5
512 “Reckoning”
@@nkuniverse7856 I mean it’s a pretty big part of Superman’s origin that Jonathan Kent dies, unless you’re totally unfamiliar with his origin we all knew it was gonna happen
Everyone always seems to forget that Clark barely ever told anyone his secret until he had to. Why did Lex, a man that came into Clark's life as a high school freshman, expect him to tell his secret, when he had never told his lifelong friends? Clark accepted him as a friend, yes, but there was always a level of unwariness in his face every time Lex went on his weird tangents.
"Our friendship will mark legend" "I don't want anything to get in the way of our friendship, Clark"
Not to mention that one of Clark's subtle abilities is super-thinking.
They made lex who he turned out to be.
+Man with The plan No. Lex's own lust for power made him who he turned out to be.
Xehanort10 Both had an impact in turning him into who he became. Along with the way Lionel raised him
@@Xehanort10 His love for Lana and fear of losing her made him dark.
Wish they did a lot more close up talks like this in a deep way. Good or bad
Great acting. Great writing
Stop making excuses for Clark. He was the worst character on the show.
@@friedfrog5447 it's not Clark's fault. Lex is a grown man he made his choice to be a bad person.
@@michaelterrell2108 agreed.
Because Lex is just using them as excuses to do what he wants.
One of the few times Clark left with the final word in a conversation with Lex. Brilliant scene!
clark is a huge hypocrite. he lies again. lex was right about jonathan dying because of clark, and he acts like it isnt his fault. he is directly responsible for his death.
and then he goes on to lie again about their parents feeling the same for lex as they did clark if he tried. he knows damn well that lex did everything he could to get the love of lionel and jonathan. he stuck out his neck for the kents more times then i can remember all he asked for was that they accepted him as a friend. but just as much as he did, they would throw him under the bus. they would use him for his wealth and then shit on him.
@TheMegaUzumaki You are so fucking stupid man...
TheMegaUzumaki clarks secrets didnt cause lana to suffer?
@@kully1995 How?
@TheMegaUzumaki Facts
I was 11yrs old when I first started watching Smallville.
Are you?
Well...I mean technically you did blow up the ship and run away from home forcing him to bargain away his life to bring you back home...
he didn't FORCE Jonathan made that choice... Of course you could give him some of the blame but Jonathan sealed his own fate
BEST SCENE - EVER- SOOO POWERFUL
Such a great scene 👏 lol I bet they were about to crack up during this scene, cuz they can't be to serious around each! 🤣
Technically Clark was to blame for his own father's death. What a hypocrite.
@TheMegaUzumaki Facts
One of the best scenes in the whole 10 years
No other person is responsible for evil (Lex) even his creep of a father.
Smallville is beginning to sound more like 2022. Meteors, Aliens, cryptic symbols etc
Most ppl want to see Clark and Lex be buds.... Really I've been waiting for Clark to kick his ass for 10 years lol
Supes pulled a Columbo on Lex.
The show is just not the same anymore without Lex :(
The best part of this show was the dynamic between Clark and Lex.
Loved this scene
lionel was right when he said u can fool everyone but me lol we all know the guy was literally obsessed about clark and about the past his hunger grew out of control he could just not let it be
You could really see Lex was unraveling this season. The cool, confident Lex turned into a delusional sociopath
Not delusional at all.
Lex was always jealous of for Clark having the family, the support, and love he never had. Lex was the richest man in Smallville, had everything at his disposal, but did not have the one thing he needed, and that was love☹️
I won’t say that lex was jealous but I try to understand why lionel was so cold and evil
He killed his parents
Shot his son
Fired employees
Screwed people over
Lex even had to deal with the house guest of doomsday
Lex was always an after thought to lionel
But he made Martha and Clark priority
Lex wanted love from his father
He wanted wat Clark had
But he wasn’t jealous
Life just didn’t make sense to him
Yes he had wealth status connections
But nobody he could trust
Hence the fortress of a castle for a home
Lex was lost and lived life as an unanswerable question to his father
I love Gene Hackman’s Lex Luthor but now I got Micheal’s Lex Luthor and the Supergirl Lex Luthor competing.
I LOOOOOOOOVE this SHOW 😍😍😍 it's on Hulu now 💯
NOW THIS IS WHAT SMALLVILLE IS ABOUT !
Best. Show . Ever.
When i start watch smalville i knew this scene is going to happend i just hate their destiny but bad choices make good stories
I can't believe ive met these two
You met Superman and Lex Luthor?
omg i love this scene so much
