The issue is when you are spinning the front wheel up hill in dirt trails and then it grabs traction. The bad design/metal can't handle the torque and spins the axle in the forks even when tight destroying the motor. Speaking from experience 🍻

Everyone commenting like this is so vague on the terrain. Hills, rocks, dirt trails? I'm thinking street riding which would make sense for it to last. This is marketed as an "All-Terrain" bike and it fell apart on me after a few miles of off road unfortunately 🤷‍♂️🍻

  • @WT6X

Mine started to have issues after 4 months, the rear shocks started leaking. Ariel Rider did send a replacement part, but that was only the beginning. The front brakes started to slowly leak, I took it to a reputable bike repair shop and they worked on the brakes. Then at the 890 mile my front motor did the same thing as yours, so I just took it out and figured I could try and get one more year out of the bike with just the rear motor...... Now my throttle sometimes works, and sometimes my peddle assist sometimes works. I never know which one will work at any given time. 3,000 for not even a year of riding. I loved it when it worked, but now it's more of a death trap for my work commute.

I had ordered this bike back in 2021, 4 months went buy and I never received the Grizzly so I cancelled my order. I bought me instead that year my first Spark Cycle Works Bandit with dual batteries and I'm so glad that I did. A few people did get their Grizzly delivered that year and challenged me to a race but sadly all I saw was them in my rear view mirror as I crossed the finish line a winner. Since then almost all of the people who own the Grizzly have been running across one problem after another with motor issues, controller issues and etc. My old Bandit from 2021 is still running excellent without any issues at all and I'm happy about that. In November of this year I went and bought me another Bandit with dual batteries also, it's much faster than my first one and the Grizzly guys don't dare challenge me to a race with the new one. You get what you pay for is what I always say and I'm so glad that Ariel Rider pushed me into the direction of a better company that takes care of it's customers.

I see. I had trouble after riding a few times on dirt single track trails where there are some rocks and up hill sections where the front tire would slip then grab traction again occasionally. Everything just started failing after a few miles of this. The soft metal on the front forks just can't handle the torque. To this day Aerial Rider's support doesn't want to acknowledge anything... Just keep saying my front axle bolts were loose which they weren't. I'd highly recommend not using this "All-Terrain" bike in an All-Terrain environment 😂🤷‍♂️🍻

Ouch! That sucks big time. I own an Ariel Rider X-Class 52V for 3 years now and haven't had many problems with it. It's a single motor design. Has cheap tires that wear after about 1000 miles and the brake pads wear in about the same amount of miles as well. These are wear and tear parts so the expectation is that they'll last at least a few years but nope. They need to be upgraded since 1000 miles comes quicker for those that use the bike for commuting to work like I did. I've been working on bikes since I was a kid and mechanically inclined so this is not much of an issue for me but could be a costly if you don't already have the tools and know how.
I'm a part of one of the Facebook groups and several of the people on there say the same thing about their customer service and warranty. It's a real bummer since they are a local company to me and I like to support local businesses.

I had a similar issue @ 380 miles with the error message on rear motor & no start from dead stop. Had to buy Amazon 6 pin connector for e bike & a larger 3 pin for 10 g wire weatherproof connector & splice in & solder to completely replace the rear motor to controller connector. That's the big wire runs to rear motor right below where it says "Grizzly" that connection would never make good enough contact to carry current & motor would stumble & eventually cut out w same error code. The whole repair took about 1 hour. Bike now has 2500 miles & runs perfectly.

The key is to be very careful and think twice about going up a steep rocky or slippery dirt/rock section with the front wheel drive on. This is what I believe put mine out of commission. When the front wheel slips and grabs traction over and over, it may spin the axle in the axle mounts destroying the front motor 🍻

Sorry you had issues with your Ariel Rider Grizzly that began after only 10 miles. I have the v3. I have had better luck with them. I had a broken throttle interrupt switch when I got it. Emailed Jaime. They sent another one right away. I didn't have a charger working properly. Or so I thought. Emailed Jaime. Sent another one right away. Then, the original charger started working well. So 2 chargers now, a new throttle interrupt switch, and now had the bike 18 months and 383 miles on the odometer. I've had zero issues. The only thing I'm a little pissed about is that I bought mine in Sept 2022, and it cost more then. Still get 35+ miles of range. I think the farthest I've been is about 37 miles with 19% remaining. Mods include Kevlar compound tires to minimize flats, rechargeable 12v battery to power motorcycle handlebar stereo with built in USB for phone charging + treblab speaker as a subwoofer and mount, also a very secure phone mount, JB Seats-seat, hold down straps to mount to bike carrier and spoke reflectors. I mean, absolutely NO issues. I have seen a UA-cam video that rates this bike as Best or Most Fun of 2024. I know that says nothing about reliability but coming from someone with almost 400 miles with no flats or anything. Sorry yours had issues. Thanks for the hub lock tip. I'll make sure to keep checking that. Anyone interested in seeing my AR Grizzly v3. I'd be happy to send pics or even meet up in LA. Let's head to the beach. BTW, no, I don't work for or sponsored by Ariel Rider in any way. I am just offering a different experience with the same bike. No sarcasm or negativity intended with this comment. Again, just different perspectives and experiences here. That's all. Enjoy Fellas.

My sympathy for what happened to your grizzly bike bro. I am a citizen of washington state and have had this bike for about 1.5 yrs now. So far it has been the best commuter ebike in my life with the best hill torque (as we have enough hills in western washington) experienced in a bike. Mine hasnt let me down and is the reason i am going after the zero brand electric motorcycles.
In the meantime i will say for the front wheel, if anyone purchases this bike it is wise to upgrade to a bigger disc given how heavy the bike is if you dealing with hills. It is well worth the extra 100 dollars or so, you wont be dissapointed. Also make sure if you unlocked it to make sure police are good in area. Mine said they dont care as long as im respectable to everyone, people and car alike, so i follow all the rules like not doing 38mph on a sidewalk or cutting cars off on the road.

I know the bike comes with a torque.
I have had my bike for over a year.
I put at least 30 miles a day on my bike.

@DustinDunnill , my friend's Grizzly had a display issue and AR sent him a new one . I have a D Class, and my display was not reading 100% . Initially, Ariel Rider thought it was the battery, so we did some troubleshooting , Ariel Rider sent me a new battery, but the problem was not resolved.
Eventually, we moved on to the possibility that it was the display.
Ariel Rider sent me a new display, and now the display reads properly.
Prior to purchasing my Ariel Rider D Class, I had a Super73 ZX , that bike lasted about 3 weeks .
The Super73 ZX would literally stop on me while I was riding , dangerous stuff in the busy city that I live in .
I returned the Super73 ZX because it was a lemon and moved on to Ariel Rider. I love ❤️ it.

Thanks for the info. How long into owning your AR bikes did you start having issues? They seem to be very strict about time frames.

So many Ebike companies are short term endeavors.
That's why I never waited and never put any investment in warrantee claims

Same exact thing happened to me.
Had to track Arda’s personal cell number and bug him to get anything done. I think he only got the ball rolling since I found his cell number and he didn’t want me to share it or something. I didn’t. And won’t. But still. I got special treatment over my friends for that reason I believe. After it was fixed. 2 different times I sold it online. Good riddance.

Great, but let's hear about how / where you ride it? Off-road is where this bike failed quickly when trying to get through some hilly dirt and loose rock sections. No other bikes I've ridden or reviewed in this same terrain have failed. This bike wanted nothing to do with the "All" in "All-Terrain" 🍻

Ariel Rider's customer service is abysmal....its so bad I had to use a word my granny would've used to describe it. They have no concern for the customer once the check clears ( no, I didn't actually pay with a check). They are constantly sold out of parts, accesories and take weeks to respond to requests for service.
If you are a person that anticipates using customer service, don't buy Ariel Rider. Sometimes you can't anticipate these things, so, only make a purchase of one of these bikes if you're feelin' lucky...
That being said my experience with the Grizzly was a lot more positive than the review. Still not a bike I would reccomend. The geometry doesn't allow for tight turning or quick changes of direction. It is not a nimble bike ( nor does it claim to be). I bougnt mine bramd new during a sale last year, and durability wise it has been great. Between my better half and me, a little over a tnousand miles have gone on the bike and we have only encountered a flat tire as a performance issue. I weigh about 215 and have taken the bike on challenging trails in Tahoe National Forest, trails in the Oakland and Berkeley hills and trails in Shasta counrty designed for dirt bikes. So, I never took it easy on her. But the bike is most fun on a mellow fire trail, the beach or mobbing in traffic. Also, it is a grreat hill climb machine, and impresses a crowd when it blasts up inclines that are sitting Sur-Rons down. But, Between the weight and geometry its not really any fun riding switches or in rocky terrain....in my opinion the X-class another Ariel Rider offering is a bike that is way more fun. Its no ballerina but it has those nimble notes the Grizzly lacks. It doesnt have the juice of the dual motors but it has plenty of torque and a lighter front end so wheelies pop. The grizz did not pop wheelies well. And tbe x-class is easy to mod, so, you can get that power if you need it.
But let me reiterate: Ariel Rider as a company, overall is a giant flaming turd.

So this guy has a review contract with Ariel Rider that he didn't follow through on in the agreed time frame, bike breaks and he waits till it's outside the warranty period to contact them and address, but this is all customer services fault....... Sorry, but this doesn't pass the smell test. Sounds like you were riding it like a full on dirt bike to get the amount of damage you did. No company is perfect, and I am not white knighting for Ariel Rider, but it seems like a lot of your issues mentioned here would have been completely avoided by doing things in a more timely manner, both your agreed upon review and the warranty repair claims. For those worried about the front motor spinning, yes it was an issue, but the V3 has addressed it by beefing up the motor mounts. That, plus the many many long term reviews in which the people are still very happy (regular people, not ebike reviewer channels) should also factor into your purchase decision

Yep, just sharing my experience. I explained it all in the video. But why didn't they acknowledge the engineering defect on this model? Bad company. Just falling back on warranty even with a known defect with this generation. Auto companies call that a "recall" and notify / contact / fix the issue no matter how long past warranty 😘🍻

As I explained, my issues are likely from dirt/rocky trails, not NYC street miles. I wouldn't doubt it not having these issues if I rode this all terrain bike on the street only...but this is an "All-Terrain" bike and I found its limits with ability and customer service 🍻

But do the reviews you speak of ever put it through dirt and rock inclines? That's where it fell apart. Not really an "All-Terrain" bike. Maybe light off-road and it'll survive if you're lucky and fairy ride it in that terrain or get off and walk it 🍻

Ok, first and foremost, 20 miles of riding when you knew you had a problem with the front motor does not make you a reliable reviewer.
Second, when you assembled the bike, YOU made the mistake while assembling. I have two Ariel Rider bikes, a Grizzly ver3 and an original XClass 48 that I purchased and repaired because the person that had it rode thru water, like literally, and shorted the controller, battery and battery holder connection. They are great bikes.
Third, I’ve had Ariel support respond to me about parts for both bikes without any issue at all.
Asking them to pick up the tab for your mistakes only tells me you think any
Mistake you make should be covered by them.
This ain’t Wendy’s and you don’t get it your way.
If they had assembled the bike and then you had an issue I’m sure they would cover any damage they had a part in.
Own up, grow up or sell me your paperweight for $500. I’ll fix it, assemble it right and ride it like I do my others.

    • @DustinDunnill
      @DustinDunnill  18 днів тому

Try read / listen....apparently you missed everything. I assembled it correctly. The front weakness was apparently a defect found out later (had I known any of this I would have contacted them prior to riding). After the front issue the rear motor went out during further testing trying to get the front to work.
Anyhoo, it was sold for parts already. I'd never buy this brand unless you ride like a fairy 😂🍻
