How do I implement it into a custom game
Love the content. Still waiting on the 4080Super guide..
@@jere3651 Yeah, things take time and I have some many to do haha, but it will come :D
I wish I had one these to get intel Presentmon working so I could actually use GPU busy on my setup.
Came for the info and stayed for the accent. Thank you for always providing great content.
haha, thank you. Glad you enjoy it
@@AncientGameplays Came for the accent, stayed for the Fabio.
Do you have a brother who does videos on Nvidia GPU’s? 💀🤣 man, you’re the biggest reason I stay with AMD lol
haha, I do videos about tech, mostly AMD, but not only haha
With nvidia you cant
You need to pay a kidney to use new version of dlss
@@strelockyoussef4033 for the upscaler you can just swap DLLs as well
Fabio, I don't know if you are going to read this (I HOPE), I just followed your instructions with Cyberpunk 2077, updated to version 1.3, RX 6800 (OC UV WITH YOUR SETTINGS) at 1440p Ultra Settings with XESS Ultra Quality (75% scale I believe) and it looks FANTASTIC and gives me like 15 fps more than previous version. THANKS A LOT.
Glad to help my friend! Ultra Quality now uses the previous quality preset (67%), hence giving you more FPS, but still with better quality
@@AncientGameplays If FSR 3.1 managed to at least match this quality it's going to be a massive improvement, a win-win situation for all gamers, no more DLSS dependency.
@@silvio351 so XeSS may be used by amd GPU too? Guess you can not access at the hardware acceleration, but if it works like fsr on all gpu is a big new to me
@@LeagueOfZenek yes, XESS runs a little bit better on Intel Arc because of hardware acceleration and AI stuff, however, it has a fallback code for other gpus, the catch is that the render resolution is lower now for all the presets(Ultra Quality, Quality, etc.).. hence more performance but due to the great improvement in image quality that is not noticeble and looks even better than previous version. I just tried it with Robocop (UE5) and noticed a great improvement at first sight.
@@silvio351 xess for upscaling fsr 3 for framegen we just got opensource dlss basically add dxvk on that and its optimization for all
Can't wait for the comparison video!
A like for like setting video, of course.
Also, a render resolution comparison between the 3 techs would also be nice.

Thanks for the video! Couldnt really find any information on how to do this besides a very vague reddit post on how to update xess 1.1 to 1.2
Glad I could help!
Thank you so much for this man, works like a dream!
Thank you, this approach works great for Cyberpunk. I previously ditched XeSS1.2 in favor of FSR2.1 due to ghosting visible behind moving platforms in the sky, but now it seems to be resolved. No more FSR2.1 flickering when using terminals, too
Agreed
so much appreciate the effort you put into these videos man.. great job 👏
Thank you, glad some people appreciate them
Thanks you so much for responed to your community so quickly🎉🎉🎉🎉
in forbidden west xess 1.3 really helps with the nasty sand particles
not only sand. Water drops and other particles, it does lose some details in some places though
it also prevent some artifacts and fizzle on the edge of some distant objects, espcially in motion and particles in general , also it looks sharper and cleaner than FSR , XESS 1.3 performance is also better as showen in the video
Amazing video again! I like watching your videos to practice my listening in English too hahahaha
Great haha
thanks for the instructions man, it works great in cyberpunk
Glad to help 💪💪
Thank you as always Fabio for the info, and the comparisons, great work! If I'm being honest though I'm having trouble spotting too much difference on my 27" 1440p display; I think the handling of the hair looks a bit better on 1.3?
Haven't you watched the spider-man part? Also, I will be talking more specifically in the next video 💪
Look forward to it! 🙏
Free performance is always welcome 👍
Cheers mate, you are doing a great job for the gaming community. I integrated this library into Cyberpunk and Starfield and just WOW! All the image quality issues I was having are now gone. Way to go Intel! AMD, catch up!
Was just looking for the recent XeSS update and here you are with not just the github but the whole installation guide. Replaced the .dll in cyberpunk and bam, all done, the change was immediate. XeSS is sadly far better than FSR 2.2, far less ghosting, much better image stability (FSR is shimmering galore at 1080p), and with this image/performance update, complete no brainer if DLSS isn't an option. Thanks. P.S.: Bora Ancient Gameplays és grande.
I've been testing this with a bunch of games. As well as testing with fsr 3 frame generation mods and I have to say it's SO much better than fsr3 upscaling.
Especially on the Rog ally....it looks so god damn clean!
Yes, because FSR 3 is basically FSR 2.2 + FG
Thank You!
No my friend, thank YOU
@@AncientGameplays Man i am so proud of you! AMD need to show some appreciation, or i will slap them!
Thanks for the sharing. I tried your method in the Witcher 3 Next Gen. Got an AMD RX6600, so DLSS is not an option. At 1080p with Xess 1.3, Xess quality is now as fast as FSR. However, Xess has a shimmering problem especially at small details like fishnet in Novigrad and foliage, but less ghosting. FSR has less shimmering but more ghosting. In the end, I prefer FSR in this game. My guess is it depends on each game and setting. We got to try every upscale technique by ourselves. Spending time tinkering the settings is the fun part of PC gaming. Lol.
I just tried this out on The Witcher 3 with my 1080 Ti @ 1440p max settings (no RT obviously). On native, I was getting around 30 fps in the intro area. Turned on XeSS to Balanced and it gave me a whopping 90 FPS! It's hard at times to see a quality difference, it looks amazing. Thank you so much, Intel may have increased this card's lifespan a bit more at 1440p lol.
Hi man love the content thank you
Can we do the same thing with FSR 3.5 ? Or can you make a video about that ?
I mean 3.1 sorry
Fsr 3.1 is not out yet
A couple of others we can test XeSS is Warhammer Darktide and Diablo 4. I am definitely gonna give it a go later on my AMD handheld as Darktide clearly shows XeSS having better image clarity with less artifacts than FSR when trying lower resolutions. Remember handhelds do better at 768p/720. I bet 1.3 will be even more amazing! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for watching
Diablo 4 is an online game, and it seems like changing DLL files is prohibited. Proceed at your own risk.
It makes a big difference in Horizon Forbidden West. I now use it instead of FSR. I usually have RIS on by default for my global settings, but I had to disable RIS (Radeon Image Sharpening) for HFW, because it was over sharpened in this game. XESS isn't as sharpened as FSR by default, so I increased the in game sharpening from 0 to 2, and now it's better looking than FSR. I have enough GPU to not use upscaling in HFW, but the game's native TAA isn't that great looking, so the highest in game XESS was the best option.
I need to get on this shiz, I'llz be raw doggin Xess 1.3 all day and night. Thanks for the info.
Bro I was worried when I didn't say witcher as I was playing it currently and then you said it and what a relief it was
Nice haha
All I hope for now is amd will do the same thing with fsr 3 just drag and drop the dll file so we don't have to wait for months@@AncientGameplays
It works in Cyberpunk. Also works with LukeFZ's FSR 3 mod.
yes, true
but ingame it shows still 1.2?
@@danielchristoph4576 I don't think that has to do with the xess code. That's Cyberpunk's code. If you replaced the file it literally can only use 1.3.
@@danielchristoph4576 that's just a name obviously the file won't change the games coding...
I’m very happy gamers are getting closer to DLSS quality and performance. This should make the gaming space a lot better. Before Nvidia was dominating on tech, and they were taking advantage on prices and vram decisions etc. DLSS was their big advantage, if that gap goes to almost 0 soon, then gamers can really choose anything.
Hey bud, thanks for the posts and great videos. Btw, é Brasil ou Portugal?
Portugal
Just did this on my Pop!_OS Linux machine. gained 12 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077 with same setting compared to v1.2. Thanks for the instructions. I don't see the new presets thos, maybe that's something the dev's need to implement in the settings menu
Oh yea. I was annoyed by the xess ghosting in Horizon: Forbidden West and this fixes it. Thank you so much. 👌
Glad to help!
Fabio, will you show some love to CyberXeSS? It bring XeSS to any DX12 game without intel upscaler but with DLSS. In DX11 it works as well but throw FSR2.2 I think. Can you check it for us?
Note the small print. The upscale modes no longer match the previous version/FSR/DLSS
Yes, meaning it uses lower render resolution. I talk about that here too
hardly see difference in resolution new scaling due to new improved texture sharping that not requires goes high resolution is very similar to NVIDIA ones and more models for rendering passes
Which isn't a problem if the visual quality is the same. The problem is that games will need to update to give you the option to pick the new options.
I hope it's integrated into THE FINALS soon, it too suffers from rain smearing/ghosting seen at 5:50 and you cannot just modify game files in a multiplayer game because it could trigger the anticheat.
Thanks for the comparison, I put it into Spider-Man right away and enjoy XeSS UQ + FSR3 FrameGen on a GTX 1070
I've been doing some experimenting with it on my 6750 XT and it's very, very good. When FSR 3.1 comes out, FSR 3.1 FG with XeSS upscaling will be a huge win for anyone who doesn't have an overpriced 40 series card.
When fsr 3.1 comes out you'll be using fsr 3.1 as it is great
At 3:30, there was a ghost floating by that can be seen in the reflection on the building near spiderman's leg.
Ghost aside, the reflection looks better in 1.1, probably an effect of less render resolution.
Nah, it looks basically the same, but as I explained remember that xess 1.3 performance mode has lower render resolution vs 1.1
Tks for the video a question works on Nvidias GPU and in games like The calisto protocol, A plage tale requem, Horizon zero down?
Calisto doesn't support xess, but if you jave nvidia just use dlss.
Hi
Can you make a short video how to optimize radeon drivers for cs2 (6 & 7) series. and what settings give less latency improve perfomance etc.
Tnx
Xess 1.3 + AFMF works very well in Hitman 3 4k with RT on my 7900xtx. The visual difference is very huge compared to Xess 1.2 & FSR it looks very close to native in quality mode , in perf mode you get a lot more fps makes the image looks soft but it's nice I find balanced looks ugly for the amount of fps it gives so I'll use quality Xess 1.3
I tested it in Cyberpunk since that's the only game I currently have with XeSS. It looked and performed well, except I did notice some slight flickering in places when the sunlight reflects off things like vehicles. I tested XeSS 1.2 and 1.3 and it happens in both. It is not present when I use FSR 2.1. I'm on linux kernel 6.8.5 and Mesa 23.3.6.
There’s a problem with AMD gpus where when you play Fortnite and your using the rendering mode performance mode you get a lot of stutters so some of us AMD users are forced to play on dx12 for stable fps. I’m not sure if this affects other series but the ones that are affected that I know about are the 6000 series.
I would be so happy if we could update fsr that easy as dlss or xess...
I believe AMD is working on that
Obrigado Fábio. Vou experimentar no remnant 2.
obrigado eu por ver
Hey Fabio. How are u doing brother. Can you tell me when can we get hyper rx for the 6600 gpu i heard they are going to release that in this year but still no news on that .
I checked in CP2077, it is better than fsr, the minimum FPS is only two lower than the maximum. Good stability. I recommend.
Can't wait to try this with Witcher 3
Go on 💪
Taking the idea from your video, I know that it is possible to do this with dlss, but the correct question would be possible to do this with fsr?
because some games have fsr1.0 it would be interesting to be able to update to 2.2 like you explain in the video using xess
It was in the early stages. Now with fsr 3.1 and above everything will be like this as well
@@AncientGameplays This possibility will be incredible, being able to update, for example, FarCry 6 which uses 1.0 and being able to put the current one would be great
Your thoughts between 4060 and 7600xt for 1080p gaming?
same price? 7600XT. Double VRAM will save you some headaches and FSR 3.1 is coming
@@AncientGameplays I think 7600xt is lit bit cheap in my country compared to 4060.
I was also thinking about amd but so many people had bad reveiws about amd that's why I asked thankyou.
what i do is that i create a new texte document and i write every step i did and why i did it ,
the funny thing is that it actually saved me from my own stupidity
it is way too easy to forget
Does anyone know how to select the Native mode with Xess 1.3 without resolution change? The new ultra quality setting is the old native setting and there's no way to select the new native mode when you are swapping dlls.
disculpa pero crees que pueda ser compatible la steam deck ? lo digo por ser linux o no tiene nada que ver ?
i actually prefer using XeSS in Horizon more than I do FSR. And I also like that it allows for Ultra Quality anti-aliasing rather than just Quality so you get a higher resolution. And I prefer this AA method over TAA. TAA just feels like it hinders performance too much and it isnt worth the extra detail you get. I am glad you released this because I am halfway done with the DLC already in Forbidden West
The new Ultra Quality preset in Xess 1.3 is actually the same base resolution as Quality mode in Xess 1.2/DLSS/FSR2. Intel lowered the base resolutoin per setting since they claim the image quality has been improved at those resolutions.
XeSS 1.3 beating FSR 3.0 in shimmer on Starfield. It could just be that one shot, but up by the top of the silo where the railing and the pole are overlapping from the foreground to the background.
True, fsr3 is just fsr 2.2 with frame generation
*I wonder if it will be as easy to install Intel ExtraSS (Intel Frame Generation) when it becomes available. If that is the case well...FSR 3.1 better get rolled out with the same ease of use and quickly since they're officially in dead last place when it comes to Up scaling quality.*

do ya'll think xess will become propietary if they make it better than dlss? whats the benefit of buying amd gpus anytime soon?
Nah, we need better intel gpus first
Does this affect call of duty. Will it trigger the anti cheat due to changing file settings?
it shouldn't trigger anything if the game already supports XeSS to begin with
Bro, is it really important to leave the old XeSS file in the directory folder? Can I not just exchange the old file with the new one completely?
It is best practice to rename old one by adding a new .old file extension so it isn't used..... This way you can always return to the original if there is any issue!
You can, but as explained, that way tou can go back easily if anything goes wrong
which one is the best now in your opinion DLSS or xeSS ?
both are very close, but performance wise DLSS runs better on NVIDIA cards of course

Much better than waiting for the devs to update it or wait for new games to have it I don't understand why amd can't do the same, they should have already given us fsr 3.1 to use in all games
true, when devs are at play, it might take ages or simply never happen....
Yeah. It is very strange. AMD is the only brand which offers fully open source upscaling tech. Yet, while other brands let you easily update their upscalers in your games manually w/o any issues, AMD forces everyone to wait for newer versions of FSR to be implemeted by game devs. And usually gamers have to wait for quite a long time, sometimes months or even a year. Some older games (like Far Cry 6 or RE Village) still offer just FSR 1, while, for example, Nvidia updated all the games with DLSS 1 to the 2nd version a long time ago. Now Intel does the same thing. AMD needs to hurry!
@@stangamer1151 Nvidia did nothing like that, as DLSS 1 has spatial upscaling and DLSS 2 uses temporal. I am pretty sure no such thing was done
@@AncientGameplays I mean, Nvidia themselves updated DLSS version from 1 to 2 in all the games, that supported DLSS 1 (like Control, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Metro Exodus etc.). They did it pretty fast, right after DLSS 2 was released. And they even added DLSS 2 to some older games (like Rise of the Tomb Raider), which did not have built-in upscaler before.
@@stangamer1151 AMD doesn't force anything. The devs themselves integrate the FSR2 code into their games which is why we can't update it easily. Things will be changed with FSR 3.1 and AMD is enforcing an external DLL in their SDK so devs will have to use that method or put in extra work to integrate the source code it into their games.
Woww 😍
Cool 💖🔆🤪
Hey guys i wanted to ask if the 6600xt or the 5700xt is better for my ryzen 5 4600g?
in CP77, when you turn on XeSS 1.3, the car begins to sparkle with random flashes. There is no such “feature” either with the FSR or in the native. but with XeSS 1.3 ghosting disappears, which is very noticeable with FSR
I only tested it briefly, but worked well here

XeSS got a big jump in quality and it seems to compete well with FSR 3
Xess i generally better. Fsr 3.1 is the real deal here
So if a game doesn't support xess that means I can't use the 1.3 version either, right?
True, unless you use mods
In warzone when you made it everything and try to start the game battle net start an update and change that file to previous version. Any tip about that?
The game doesn't allow it, not much you can do there...
@@AncientGameplays ok Fabio thank for your response
FABIOLOUS 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 OBRIGADO !!!!
Abraço!
Now i', looking forward for FSR 3.1. Maybe they find a way to update it same as XeSS.
How about some new GPU staff ideas - like 3fans gpu-s that have side slide fans (for cleaning and replacement of the fans - because they are worn out in time - so you do not need to take the GPU apart and crash your warranty - GPU can last longer if you give it new fans or better ones - like click fans that have no cabels etc. ....😮
The results on Cyberpunk at 4k, optimized high end settings, with more than 160 mods, Quality XeSS are Amazing. Min 100 FPS almost anywhere !!!🎉🎉🎉🎉. Everything is better, FPS, aliasing, CPU temp, GPU temp.... juste WOW !! Could it works with Diablo 4 game pass version ?
💪💪
Great video, thanks for the instructions. Unlike popular opinion, I found XESS 1.1 unusable in all games, and FSR 2 overall better. This version seems closer, but still inferior to FSR 2 because of the larger, more distracting, flickering on lines/thin objects. If you make another comparison, and eventually throw DLSS into the mix, please compare image quality in lateral motion, and watch for flickering of straight lines/objects.
Agreed to some extent yeah
Xess 1.3 Quality = Xess 1.2 Balanced in terms of internal render resolution.
Yeap, they added some new options like Native AA and Ultra Quality Plus (which is the previous Ultra Quality) lol
Can you implement this in mmos?
I tried it on Diablo 4 but it didn't work. Maybe because I don't have an Intel graphics card. Right?
No, listen to the video...diable doesn't feature xess
Does the game have to have dlss in the game to be able to use xess? Like can i use this mod in game without dlss?
Yes, as stated in the first seconds...watch the video...
@@AncientGameplaysI think he's asking if the game doesn't have xess only dlss, can he replace the dlss file for the xess just like the fsr frame generation mod.
Can I use it on call of mw 3?
How do I use this on Helldivers 2?
That feel illegal 💀
But hey, more performance, more fun, I guess
Thanks 🙏🏿
xD
Can i do it in RDR2 and PUBG too???
and next question. Can i do the same Stuff with a FSR3.1 Data from Github and put it in the Games?
PuBG does not have xess and neither does RDR2, why do people skip even the first seconds? Jesus
@@AncientGameplays 0:13 "... in every single game where XeSS is already presented..."
ok now i have it. ty👻
@@AncientGameplays People skip the beginning of the video because you titled it: THIS is how to INSTALL XeSS 1.3 in ALL Games!! More FPS & Better image quality! "in ALL Games!!" is the keyword here. ;) Everybody just skips to the good part and then they are confused.
The video is great as always, but the title is misleading because it suggests that XeSS 1.3 works in every game, not just in those with XeSS already implemented.
@@RETROxGAMER true, a bit misleading, hence why I stated that in the very first seconds
I only have CP2077 that supports XeSS, but I can't see much improvement. On FSR my 7900XT is at least as fast, often faster and the image is less flickery on High RT when looking at the palm's leafs. May be on ARC is better and/or faster then 1.2
XeSS usually runs considerably worse on AMD GPUs performance wise, but quality wise CP2077 gets only a minor improvement with even 1.3. Some games get considerably better though
The XeSS implementation in Cyberpunk isn't very good in my opinion. It's only slightly better than FSR on my Arc GPU, and is probably worse without the XMX hardware. It looks better with 1.3, but still not great.
xess is not working on my rx5700. I tried the mod on Spiderman; it made the fps worse, but I see some improvement in the image quality. I tried every setting: ultra-quality, balanced, and performance, and all gave the same result.
Because like all upscaler it takes work to do, and older cards like the 5700zt suffer with xess, even the most recent amd ones do
Can i use it on non supported games that don't have the libxess file ?
Haven't you watched the first seconds?
