Thank you very much
Get an old CD case, Stick a WD 40 Cap to it, hold it on your panel until the shadow of the white cap is equal all around, you have just aligned your panel in perfect alignment with the sun. I do that 4 times a day to get the max efficiency from the panel , 10 am, Solar Noon, 3 pm and 5 pm, in the summer months you will pick up 25% more efficiency, cheaper than a solar tracker.
To adjust the angle, set a soda can (or similar shape object) on the panel and hold it in place while you tilt the panel until the shadow of the can disappears under the can.
Now the sun is directly perpendicular to the panel for optimum power. Remove the can and enjoy your beverage.
I am sure that is true but I want something I can slip into a bag with my panels and have it ready for on the go for transportation cannot do that with a soda can
clever! the little clip on thing is easier to get in a pocket though.
I don't think the location of the $20 aiming tool (at the top of the panel versus the center) matters as long as the panel is a geometric plane (flat).
If, you were placing the tool on a flexible panel, then placing it in the middle of the panel would tend to be the best location to get the best [average] angle since the top would be less-than-optimal, while the bottom of the panel would also be less-than-opimal in the other direction.
I also heard that you can hold a cylindrical shaped can, such as a soup can or a Pringles Potato Chip can up against the panel to adjust the panel angle so that the cylinder's shadow is equal around all sides of its circumference.
One note of caution though, if you use the $20 tool clipped to a metal wire (i.e., a coat hanger), be sure that the tool is perpendicular to the panel since the tool's clip could introduce a few degrees of error.
Great video!
Thank you for showing us how to use that … it’s simple but I had no idea there is such a thing …
thank you very very much
Thank you
A can of your preferred beverage is equally functional, except while you are adjusting your panels you can take a break for a sip.
You can do the same thing with a can, When you see no shadow you got it. I use a 5 in. 2x4 block.
You are correct
just received my first panel....waiting for my power station to arrive. Lots for me to learn. Thanks!
Well that’s great! And it doesn’t have to be too expensive but it’s nice to have portable power and also power for backup! Let me know how your journey goes. Seriously stay in touch with me.
Am I the only one who bought on before the video was over? LOL. Love Brooklin! sooo cute!
That’s sunshine ☀️ thank you
To use it on a hard panel I put a piece of Velcro on the frame and a piece on the back of the angle finder. It stays in place and frees my hands to move the panel to get the best results.
Hi Ted
I just lay it on top for a moment get the angle and take it off now.
Thank you I just bought one and I didn't know how I was going to use it for my hard panel 🙂
Just purchased one after watching this as I’ve also bought my first solar panel too! Will be using the hanger tip thank you 😊
Thank you
You have the best videos for solar panels generatorsI will help someone that you know or no BS right to the point and we love BrooklynHey guys
Pat thank you very much
Al. You are by far one of the most thorough reviewers that UA-cam has to offer. You anticipate all of, or most of, the questions that You Tubers like myself would ask, and you include it all in your presentations. Your enthusiasm is always present in your videos as well. I enjoy electronic gadgets and fishing. As fishermen would say..."you've got me hooked." Flattered that you named your dog "Brooklyn" as I was born and currently live in Brooklyn. Thank You.
Thank you very much that means a lot to me I truly try to connect to my subscribers it’s important. Due to privacy I can’t say too much but I can say I was born in Brooklyn as well Love bagels and pizza why is that? 😎
@@TechMadeEzy😆. I'm an apartment dweller. I'm thinking about purchasing a solar generator. Obviously cannot purchase a gas generator, although I would like to. And to further add to my woes, I have nowhere where I can charge outside solar cells. My priorities are my refrigerator, air conditioner, and television. I'm undecided which way to go. I'm disabled and on a limited budget. Just like everyone else, I want to maximize my power on a budget. Keeping my fingers crossed for sales. Have a wonderful day.
Air conditioner will be your challenge because it pulls a lot. Delta pro is great but it’s 100lbs, can you lift that? If not I would say a delta max that’s around 49 lbs
@@TechMadeEzy Thanks. I was thinking about the Delta Max or the Bluetti. I would like something with Lithium Iron Phosphate. Wish I could afford the Eco Flo Pro.
I like Lifep04 also but definitely more weight. Let me know what you decide
Fantastic video bd, we really enjoy the hard work you and Brooklyn and fiancé put in to all these amazing videos
Thanks for your support Alex
Great, I didn't know something like this even existed. WOW..!
Great link and tip. I did not know that there was science behind the angels. Thanks a lot.
Thanks Louis 👍🏻Definitely, can improve solar performance drastically
I appreciate all your videos, I certainly appreciate a deal you got me on the EcoFlow river Pro in that solar panel lol
Thanks Brad, appreciate that 👍🏻
With the link. I was able to learn a few things. Man, I did not know that those angles are that important.
Yes Shane for sure
Great video and great ideas with the angle guide as well as the wood across the panel to help make them more efficient/manageable. I am learning slow but sure. Ecoflo panels and EF Max will be in this week.
Thank you
It would have been nice if they would have made it adjustable in the back to fit all the widths of solar panels but other than that you sold me on it. Bought it on eBay for 10 bucks thanks
Ooh I just got mine. Its been dull and grey for days here (late autumn uk) so its interesting to see how it does. I think I will use it on all our little panels and make a strap or hanging piece from clear plastic to hold it on the middle.
Great! But how often do you have to recalibrate, as the sun moves across the sky?
As many times as you need to if you want that right angle. I usually reposition 4 plus times throughout the day David
Thank you again for the link. I would be able to maximize my Ecoflow Panels.
Thanks Thomas
Thanks for the video. i did not even know these existed.
Thanks Kevin
As the sun rises and falls, the angle changes. Wouldn't one need an apparatus, synced to the gauge, to have a continuous high percentage of charge?
Or for free you can take a spray can lid or a similar lid, hold it flat against the panel and move the panel until the lid's shadow is gone. Same accuracy for zero cost.
Thanks for sharing Tommy
Awesome can also use a piece of twine or Cord as well
A small piece of plywood (3x3) with a wood dowel 3" x 1/4 wide inserted in a hole at a 90 degree angle will do pretty good too for probably close to zero cost. The idea is to zero out the shadow. No coat hanger required. Also remember once set the angle would have to be constantly reset to continue to optimize the angle of the moving sun. (yeah, I know, it's actually the Earth moving)
Very cool
I accomplished this by using a screw thru the plywood. No shadow = perfect point. Using a shorter screw makes for less error, just in case it isn't a perfect 90 deg.
Blasphemer! It is the sun that moves!
@@brock2k1 Exactly I was going to say that. 🙂.
My solar panels are on the roof so I only adjust the angle a few times. Usually look up angles are adjust it around solar noon.
That's actually a pretty neat tool
I'm just learning and I'm going to buy me one.
Stay in touch, let me know if you have any questions
very nice video, also, I just got the Ecoflow pro two weeks ago and I was wondering how I would get the right angle for my panels. but. thanks to you now I will not have a problem with this. so thank you so much.
Hi Toby thank you
Such a nice accessory so simple and it works
How did you connect the tops of the 400W panel? Just screws in the wood and grommets over the screws? I found the panels a little awkward to set up, I bought them with the intention of purchasing the solar tracker system, but it is not available, now I have panels that are difficult at best to set up. Thanks in advance for a reply.
Hi Gary thanks for watching,
I went over it a little in this video but yup, some wood and some screws ua-cam.com/video/CeDlfabEjhQ/v-deo.html
Actually I was not aware that these angles would play a part in charging solar panels. So thank you.
Definitely can make a big difference thank you for watching the video
Great tip! Thanks!
I like your dog 🙂
And thank you for the video tips.
Yes, subcribed and thumbs up.
Thank you welcome to the fam 😎
Thanks for the demo and info, have a great day
Thanks Chris
Excellent knowledge solarmaster
Love seeing your dog!
Thank you Christina
All the while I thought that if I just leave it basking under the sun. It would charge right away. Now I know how to maximize my charging.
I just purchased that solar angle! I like it
Simple and easy 👍🏻
@@TechMadeEzy yes im gonna use it for my Dokio 300w panel. It'll sure increase it's wattage input 🙂
Enjoy and thanks for watching and your support
I just picked up a Delta Pro and will be getting 2 - 400w panels.
The reviews for the 400w panels seem to indicate that the carrying case that designed to prop up the panels at an angle does not do all that good of a job of keeping the panels flat (i.e., the outer two of the 4-sections sag a bit).
I have seen videos of owners adding a 1x4 piece of wood across the top of the panel to give it more rigidity, but I think a piece of aluminum angle iron would be much lighter than wood (you still need to drill your properly-spaced holes regardless of whether you use wood or aluminum angle iron). Just my thoughts.
Also, if anyone comes across a third-party or DIY panel prop-up mechanism made of lightweight aluminum angle-iron, please post the source here. I think some may be using an "easel" type of prop, but whatever works. I kinda sorta hesitate to use the 400w panel carrying case as the prop because it seems like the weight of the panel may tend to dis-configure the shape of the carrying case so that the panels no longer fit easily into it for storage. In other words, let the carrying case do what it was designed best to do, and acquire a dedicated prop for the panels, knowing that you can always use the carrying case as your prop in those situations where you are on the move.
Effective simplicity shows genius
Put a beer can on the panel. No shadow = perfect
Do you have to move the angle of the solar panel every hour?
If you want to have the best position you would definitely need to move it I don’t know about every hour. I normally move my panels about four times a day during the weekend
Thanks for the info
Thank you
Very informative, thanks!
Thank you
Thanks for sharing this
Thanks for watching Jeffrey
As always another brilliant video regarding ecoflow solar panels ☀️ thanks buddy
What was the app you were using to tell watts being generated and where may I order that angle tool. Thanks
Ecoflow App for the Ecoflow power station
Cool widget
Wow. I can finally throw the empty tin can away I’ve been using. Thank you for this demonstration, and thank you EcoFlow.
Don't throw the can away recycle it and have a great day
Great video, thanks.
Thanks Ron
I just watched your video on the new ECOFLOW Delta 2, but when I wanted to watch it again, it comes up as “PRIVATE”… Please advise!
Launched it too soon, had to take it down 😔
💡Good info and research Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Bill
I love the idea and that's a wonderful product, I even want it! However, I cannot get myself to buy something that is easily less then $5 to make. Hoping a knock off will come soon.
Nice video. It also proves one of my points on why not to buy portable panels. You cannot get all the sections on the same plane unless you build a backboard for it. I got a free 60 watt on prime day. I am curious how long this type of panel will last before delamination. Only took my others 5-6 years. Dont buy portable panels folks. Look into delamination and ask yourself why the such short warranty on portables vs rigid panels.
Definitely something to think about thank you for watching the video
No way any solar panel is going to replace my Honda Generator.
@@azclaimjumper thats not even remotely true. What are you gonna run it on when there are no open gas stations to buy gas? Eventually you are going to run out of fuel unless you build a wood gasifier. Not gonna run out of sun anytime soon.
@@TheWatchmanNews You've been watching to much TV, gas stations will never close, gasoline will always be available in my lifetime.
Sun, on the other hand is unreliable & iffy whenever Mother Nature rains, clouds over, gets dark, etc. & lets NOT forgot that a solar panel will delaminate after 5-6 years.
@@azclaimjumper I quit watching TV in 2006. Nothing but a trashbin with a screen. Perhaps you should peer out from your bubble. We are in the midst of an energy crisis and very likely global conflict. Do yourself a favor and download a copy of the plans for a FEMA gasifier. But you may want to secure a water source above all. You know how many people say "it'll never happen here"?
Hi love the channel what solo panel did you use on EcoFlow please
Hi thanks UK I used 2 EcoFlow panels, 400w and 160w
Is that the hard panel looking for a waterproof panel to use on EcoFlow
Which power station do you have
anything device that can turn the panel throughout the day?
How about you just point the panel at the sun and then lean it back until its shadow’s length is maximized?
Am I missing something?
Good idea, That would help, but it’s not necessarily the best angle
I would prefer a spring loaded clip on this item. Some panels are thicker than others. The existing clip may snap if it goes over a panel that's too thick. Thanks for the "clip." Pun intended.
Honestly the way I use it now , I just lay it on the center if the panel and it tells me which angle in need to adjust it, I don’t even clip it anymore
Good idea, but' where can you get one from?
Here it goes thanks for watching
amzn.to/3cilU0g
TLDR: Make the shadow as small as possible. Use a more adjustable support. Clever device but ill save the $20 and just go by the shadow on the ground being nice and square.
Hello. I'm a recent follower of your account. I have a question. Can I put 2 different solar panels in series? Example (200w BougeRV with Renogy 200w)
Yea but you need to stay within the voltage range of the system you are connecting to and because they aren’t the same they won’t perform at their peak but they should work. Do not connect them until you check your voltage limit. The video below will help you understand the voltage limit I’m talking about

Welcome to the fam 🙂
I move & angle my solar panel until it's casting the smallest shadow on all 4 sides.
How much did spend on extension cords, wire for the extension MC4 connectors, MC4 connectors, special crimping tool for the MC4 connectors, wire stripping tool, + the price of all those panels that will delaminate in 5-6 years & then need to be thrown away. All that time a person has to devote is an additional cost of so-called "FREE" sun power. Let's not forget the panels can simply be blown over by a gust of wind.
A Honda Generator is the way to go for power, anywhere, anytime.
Warm Regards ffrom Reno, Nevada
The g is silent in Hanger. : )
Soooo, what is the optimal angle?
See the video, it’s all about getting the dot shadow in the center
Doesn't it depend on where you live? Different latitudes, etc.
I have a cheaper solution. A pringles can or even a can of pop or vegetables. Just set it bottom down on the face of the panel and move the panel to minimize the shadow. Done
I can eat some Pringles for sure 👍🏼
So in reality can't you just use the app to angle it so you get the highest reading and not need the angle guide?
I’m sure there’s an app for that
@@TechMadeEzy I’m talking about the app on the phone you were using to check the draw rating when you changed the angle
@happyhamster1411 doesn’t have that function
You’re literally doing it in the video after you adjust the angle to make the dot centered. It went up to 125w. Can’t you just adjust the panel and look on your phone to see if the watts go up or down?
@happyhamster1411 now that i understand your question, no, I prefer the angle guide, works great and much easier and accurate than checking the app multiple times
😂
