The fuzzy thing thing is called shell texturing some game engines allow you to apply the effect without having to manually model it too
Ben Abbott I swear that fuzzy affect was used in Sif in dark souls 1. I think it looks very similar, you might want to check it out
That effect was also used in the original Shadow of the Colossus, to give the Colossi their fur.
Yep Shadow of the Colossus had like the best example of this effect in a game it looks so good. Ive been thinking about implementing this effect in my game engine but with it being 2D I got no clue how it'll look

Pistol pete it's hair, you're more worried about not falling off and killing the thing. Not studying the hair properties. It's also very subtle

Speak for yourself, rendering these graphics in HD like in this video through Dolphin shows how well it holds up, IMO. If it was in HD from the get go, the Wii wouldn't have got so much flack, since the game is still gorgeous.

The castle beneath the water surface is used by Nintendo as a fake water mirror. I've recently decompiled the model of the whole map you see there and they used this technique to save on rendering time by not actually making a huge mirror out of the lake but simply doing it that way. Kinda clever actually. Same with the ships.

The fuzzy layering texture thing was actually super noticeable in-game when you had to walk around on the Queen Bee in Honeyhive Galaxy to scratch her itchy spots and collect blue launch star pieces. My eyes have never been more assaulted by an explosion of fur in my life.
This whole series is a dream come true for me. Everything I wanted to see as a kid is finally here.
This was very interesting to see the evolution of your channel up to this point. You seem so much more professional and impressive then when the show had just started. But in a way this video made me realize that there's a certain charm to your old unscripted videos that I miss. Great job as always.

Boundary Break for the LEGO Star Wars games?
TMachine97 Ever since I've started watching boundary break, I play Lego games and see all the tricks. The moving portraits in Lego Harry Potter hold no mystery anymore.
That would actually be a great boundary break episode. Since I love the Lego games. Even the old pc ones.
I actually tried that on the wii with dolphin the problem though is that legos games unload parts of the map as you move and simplify the geometry so you can never see the entire environment. I only tested this with lego games based on the original lego starwars engine.
Have you tried the more modern Lego games?
Like batman 2 or Lego City?

Theory about low poly Roselina’s angry eye: It could be another leftover from an old idea. Perhaps Roselina was meant to have an encounter against some form of enemy and her expression would grow cross and as she attacked her hair would move away to reveal her right eye. Perhaps the developers just left the eye angry looking cause the player wouldn’t need to see it in at any other moment. Why it’d be on the low poly version of the model still baffles me though.

Shesez Dead Sound animations would be good for boundary breaking. In No Monsters (sequel to Being Pretty) for instance, in the behind the scenes he shows that he had to use forced perspective to make it look like mom's sitting on the bed. That was a pain for him.

Very low poly Rosalina actually looks pretty good. Low poly can look great if done right and those two are perfect examples of good and bad ones.
Mario's face in the thumbnail was how I felt when I heard there was a new Boundary Break episode.

This used to be my FAVORITE game when I was in elementary school. I would play it first thing when I got home after school and I was only allowed to play for an hour. It took me months to finish it and when I finally did I felt so accomplished.

It can be extremely taxing on higher resolution characters if you're not using it sparingly. ie, deleting parts of the mesh.
LumenLumen Yea, of course. Probably there is a better way using shaders as well, but for phone or some other system that can't use complex shaders it is a really good idea, and the characters for those platforms need to be pretty low Poly any ways

Are you still doing Sequence Break? If you are you should do a Pokemon game or Mario + Rabbids. I think those would both be pretty interesting episodes.

Real-life lies Yes. Hiding inside the rock was purely a design choice. They wanted it to look like the bubbles were coming out of the ground.

The cube behind Peach's image is most likely there as a focal point for the camera. During development, that would allow you to move the cube around at runtime with the camera following it, to fine-tune the position and its movement.

phi times15 Bayonetta, but that’d be age restricted.
The doors to the castle do open on the final level where the doors open so that Mario goes through the portal to Bowser’s Galaxy, and Mario and Peach are also seen leaving the castle (this time it’s a prerendered cutscene though) through those doors after defeating bowser, the difference is a portal wormhole texture thing on the room instead of the plain wall.
Great episode! I would have liked to see more of the end game, specifically the giant star you fight inside of during the bowser fight, the huge vortex that sucks up the whole universe (may be a cutscene so that might explain why) as well as the scene with Mario talking to big Rosalina at the birth of a new universe. Also, I would have like to see the stage that has the really big robot with two legs that fires bullet bills (can’t remember the name of him) and what he looks like when Mario is on his head vs on the ground.

WantedAsylum Making money off of online videos is nothing new. Machinima, AVGN, Zone, Homestar Runner, all existed before YT. It's just that now, UA-cam is the only place where people are able to get their stuff noticed, and really, why shouldn't people be allowed to make money doing something they love?
I live in a time, where money was never taken seriously in terms of hobbyist animation.
