    My understanding is the brightest S.A. is the kind that's doped with europium and dysprosium in a specific ratio. Also, some S.A. powder breaks down when exposed to water, so you generally don't want to use water with it at all.

      Ive herd 2 explanations for this. On some sites it claims that there powders are coated to protect against water.
      However I have also read that There are different ratios of rare earth elements such as europium and dysprosium that can achieve the same glow but slightly different properties one such property being water resistance.
      This makes sense as even in the tube of bad powder some particles are still glowing even now meaning that not all of them met there demise in the water. Some companies must have figured out how to consistently achieve this.

    Really interesting video! I've been fascinated by this stuff lately. Do you know at all if Strontium Aluminate is also electoluminescent? Like if I were to put an electric field near it, would it charge just as well?

    • @lazerman121
      @lazerman121  4 роки тому +1

      I have never tested it for electroluminescence. I highly doubt it but will give it a try one day.

    Have you tried other SrAl products since this? I'm looking for an American company (shipping from glowtec is too long and expensive for this project)

      I have only tried LIT wich can be seen in one of my recent videos. I really wanna try United Nuclear ,TechnoGlow and glowinc I have a friend who uses glowInc's paint and says it is really good. Here is their page glowinc.com/. Honesty though I can not imagine there would be much of a difference between the 4 companies products.

      Not That I have found. I recently bought more green from Glowtec UK and there appears to be no difference between it and the decade old stuff.

    For how much time it's supose to glow in the dark?

    • @lazerman121

      Thats very subjective they all glow bright for just a bit then have a long slow decaying afterglow that can last a long time. I did an experiment a wile ago where I put one of the glow tubes I showed in another video (made with starglow) in a metal box under my bed and after 3 days I opened it and it was still glowing albeit to faint for video.

    • @lazerman121
      @lazerman121  4 роки тому +1

      No its too starchy. the Starglow green XL from Glowtec mentioned in another video Is more sand like and pours through a glass tube easy so I would assume it would work in an hourglass. glowtec.co.uk/product/starglow-powder-green-xl/

    Great video! I also have some SA batches from different chinese sellers on ebay. They ar excellent, i can read my watch all night long without "charging" it, just exposed to normal indoor light. The dark blue has initially lower brightness as the green one, but the same lume after half hour and much brighter after a few hours. Although, i have the green on my watch since almost a year and it seems have nothing lost from its lume property. Now i am searching for a day white/night red or orange but from chine i got the green one with some added red pigment. Where did You get those white/orange and white/red powders? Thank YOu!

      All the powders except the eBay tin came from www.glowtec.co.uk/catalogue.htm. There not cheap but have the best quality Ive seen to date.
