17:58 As a car guy and someone who's been following the lore closely for the last 20 or so years I'd like to know when we all decided to say that the Corvega was no longer a model made by Chryslus as it shows in the commercial, with different individual varying year models and sub models, but suddenly became its own sub brand. The video refers to the "sedan" 3d model as a Highwayman at 8:34 when its half buried as the Fallout 2 easter egg in New Vegas, but then calls the same 3d model a Corvega at 16:49. It can't be both and the devs already made it clear its a Highwayman made by Chryslus. Which in turn makes it clear that not every vehicle sporting the Chevron is part of any potential Corvega sub brand. I'd like to know where the names of these cars are officially listed in the lore or by the devs, and not just some copy paste wiki because I'm starting to think fans are just pulling the names out of thin air like they did with the "Atomic V8" misunderstanding. At 20:35 I honestly thought it was common knowledge in the Fallout community now that the Blitz was based heavily on the Desoto Adventurer 2 concept car. Also I know it was just a joke but the comment at 30:52 is peak car noob drivel. The guys who say that kind of stuff are always the kind of guys who can't speed shift a manual transmission to save their life and don't realize that a properly tuned automatic is superior at everything but roll starting which is why they are the top choice in the virtually all serious racing classes.
On the Cherry Bomb car, I'm pretty sure those arent headlights, but intakes, and the exhaust ports on the end. I'm also fairly certain its engine and propulsion system works like a scramjet, especially with how fast it goes.
What’s crazy about the 1997 Thrust SSC car, is that the land speed record hasn’t been broken in my entire lifetime. 26 years later, it’s still the only car to break the sound barrier.
Fallout 76 also has added quite a few Cars, my personal favorite with both a fresh-ish & destroyed look is the Hot Rod on Blocks/Pegasus Weapons Workbench Car. It’s official name is Unknown but it’s a welcome addition to the Car Variety in Fallout.
I would still like to play 76. Because I am a huge huge fan of in game. Fall out, lore and all the little quiet. Intricacies that tend to go unmissed by most people. But I just can't bring myself to play a game where online players can come in and harass me constantly. And destroy my base when I'm not there. I just can't do it. I'm too used to my fallout experience being single player. And it is frustrating because that means I'm missing out on all the 76th lore. 😕
@@marvingecko1232hey actually in 76 they have a really neat feature, anyone can attack you. However if you don’t fight back they can’t do Damage or destroy your CAMP. You can even turn in Pacifist Mode so you’ll never accidentally hit anyone! It a multiplayer system I think should be more commonplace with how much better it makes the players experience.
I consider cars in Fallout to be ambush predators based on the time that I brushed up against one in Fallout 4 and the physics did a Bethany Esda and the car instantly killed my character in a single blow. (not a detonation, it just smashed my character really hard)
Id like to see you make a video, or series, speculating potential fallout games for each American state.. or at least most of them. Highlight noteworthy architecture, legends, wildlife, potential vault locations and hypothetical factions and their territories.
The answer to the cherry bombs claim is simple. Thrust SST does not exist in the Fallout setting, since they clearly had issues with any kind of microprocessors and it seriously delayed many technological developments. Much like a certain Boston team refused any use of their trademarks to Bethesda, and never won a world series... they were set to sweep one once, but the 4th game, which they were a shoo-in to win, was scheduled for the afternoon of October 23, 2077
Finally, my old wish comes true, a better cars of fallout video. I just want to tell you that the Corvega Blitz Coupe is not inspired from the oldsmobille golden rocket concept car, but from the 1954 DeSoto Adventure II, the Zip is inspired from the 1942 Oeuf Electrique, the Fallout 3 Corvega sedan is inspired (in my opinion) from the 1959 Soviet GAZ M13 Chaika or ZIL 111 or 1956 Packard Carribian (the car from wich GAZ and ZIL were inspired) and also Fallout 3's Corvega atomic V8's front in my opinion is inspired from a mid 50' cadillac and the rear from the GM LeSaber, but anyways the video is great, you really made a young boy happy and I can't wait for the part2 !!!🤩🤩🤩
In my opinion the best part in Fallout 2 was driving the Highwayman. WOW 🤩 I love it! I really hope Bethesda lets us drive a car in Fallout 5(with their new engine it may be possible). It would be fun to fully customize your car. It could be a little similar to that Mad Max game. Also that Nick Valentine poster is really cool. I love the blade runner reference(well the entire game has a lot of references to that movie lol 😂).
Absolutly AMAZING Video !!! ... #Respect i have actualy never seen a video about the cars in fallout with this much detail and i have been absorbing everything fallout related on youtube for years !!! ...
If there’s one big reason why vehicles aren’t something the player can use actively in current fallout games, it would be due to the in game worlds not being quite big enough to make it necessary (76 is close, but can still be covered end to end by foot pretty easily).
I like many fans would love to see working cars in a Bethesda game but even though it's possible I doubt it seeing the state of most roads especially with their trend with east coast most likely not changing( the east coast places being more mountainous) places more in the west would be cool with big open spaces like Texas, New Mexico, Montana, and many many more we haven't seen but I highly doubt it
Well with the cherry bomb, it could be that it is the very first car to break the sound barrier. The divergence of the timeline happened sometime after ww2. So in the fallout universe things couldve gone completely differently. Look at the transistor in the fallout universe, there wasnt even the mention of one until 2000s.
Great video! I also find the cars of Fallout fascinating, and feel many of your observations are spot on. I’ve never seen the side view of a Fusion 3, but after hearing it had a knock-off as an amusement park ride, I started to see the Davis 3 Wheeler in the redesign profile. The history of the Davis 3 Wheeler is similar to that of the Tucker, but one noteworthy observation is that Gary Davis, the 3 Wheeler inventor, went on to create the Dodge ‘Em bumper cars. Check it out in Wikipedia.
2:35 that’s funny, my grandpa said he used to have a Belvedere and that it was the ugliest car he’d ever seen but that wasn’t a problem cause you couldn’t see it from behind the wheel 😂 very shocked anyone would use a Belvedere for inspiration but beauty’s in the beholder I reckon
28:21 That Car reminds a mix of a Ford Roadster 1932 and the rear maybe from a Bugatti Type 57, because of the way the column goes straight from the back to the top of the roof. Also, the other one at 28:28 reminds me of the 1925 Rolls Royce Phantom, mainly the wide fenders with the doors being "inside" and overall lines. Even being a car guy, im not good with older cars, being better with something above 80s, but i tried my best to find some match
I believe the deuce coupe is supposed to be a 1932 Ford coupe, its often referred to as a deuce coupe and also has a song written after It called Little deuce coupe
The "lights" on the Cherrybomb are definitely intake for the jets on the back. This thing breaks the sound barrier, it definitely has jet engines built into the side.
They should really let us utilise cars in some new way in 5, like using repair to send them barreling towards an enemy encampment, activating an alarm to start a wave defence battle, or turning it into a massive atomic landmine with the explosives skill/perk
Y'know, considering how many people were tinkering with power armor throughout the series, I'm really surprised that nobody in canon decided to use the powerplant from the fusion-flea or zip to build some massive power/mech at some point. It could even just be the "wastelander" equivalent to military power armor, just as tough but bulkier and less efficient.
When I heard atomic V8, I was thinking of how this engine could have worked, since I thought of the name as being the engine. There is a technology called magnetic targeted fusion, which can use pistons to cause a fusion reaction, much like a prototype reactor in Canada. If we go with fission, there is fragment fission which if used as an engine for space travel, uses movement to use the fission reaction instead of the traditional way.
I went to a car show for the first time with my dad a couple years ago. There were loads of classic cars from all different eras, and one thing I noticed about the kind of cars that inspired the ones found in Fallout was how freaking HUGE they all were. Seriously, some of the regular sedans I saw there were as long and as wide as a camping trailer. At least the American cars were, which makes sense given how car-crazy American culture was becoming in those days. They were lovely looking vehicles nonetheless, but I would not want to drive one.
Must have been looking at the late 60s through the 70s vehicles at the show. The 1950s cars were not that big in size, the 1960s saw an enlargement but still were modest in size, the 1970s is when the land yatchs came out and were huge. My '78 Cougar XR7 midsize front bumper to rear bumper is right at 20 feet long. My '63 Belair fullsize bumper to bumper is 18 feet long. My '56 Fairlane fullsize bumper to bumper is 15 feet long. This is why my '56 fits in the garage of my house built in '56 but my '63 won't fit and my '78 won't even let you partially close the garage door.
I gotta say, out of all of the Fallout cars, the Atomic V8 is the finest. Also the idea of it being this big comfy family car that's powerful enough to tow campers (and probably other stuff) adds a real utilitarian value to the car as well. Bad ass looking!
I admit it. It was the cars that drew me into Fallout. I was watching a friend of mine play Fallout 3, and was intrigued by the remains of these cars, apparently Motorama escapees. The way the matter of cars in Fallout 3 and onward were handled is odd. I consider it a inworld inconsistency that the designs in Fallout 3 were completely replaced for Fallout 4 and 76. It's also odd that there's only one recognizable brand or maker in the game, that being Chryslus. That said, I found that the Corvega coupe in Fallout 4 looks more like it was based on the DeSoto Adventurer II concept car, but they made it taller, messing up the proportions. As for the patrol cars of New Vegas, take another look at a '52 Chevy...
Dude I love your videos so much they are one of the few videos I will listen to while trying to fall asleep idk just the chill way you talk about my favorite series I love sm
Yo RadKing, did you know Ford created a concept car in the 50s for a nuclear powered car? It was called the Ford Nucleon. It looks very similar to cars in fallout too. Check it out!
On 28:17 I think it’s based of the most expensive Duesenburg coupe which haves the pop up headlights and the leather roof which maybe have to be replaced when it get rained on
I believe the Cherry Bomb’s front cones are intakes and the little nobs are the headlights, leading credence to its whole “first car to break the sound barrier” phrase.
As for the older cars, the ones seemingly from the 30's, you need to think of it in terms of what would still be working after EMP's. Those older cars would and likely had been in use for quite some time prior to the dweller exiting the vault. But, with them being older, the parts to keep them going properly would eventually run out as well whereas the newer ones such as the highway man would likely use at least similar enough comparable parts that they could be swapped out provided telhe cars hadn't been fried when the bombs dropped. As far as bumpers, what about the bumper swords you see in New Vegas? They came off of cars or trucks and are a decent enough example of people scavenging things off useless cars. It's metal. Also the cars you see in the walls, I wonder, would assume that they were also models that wouldn't explode or that those parts had been stripped.
On the Cherry Bomb those are likely Air Intakes for a Jet Engine. Chrysler was working on a Turbine Car that wasn't a single seater but does have some similar design cues that Fallout then dialed up to 11 and had fun with clearly combined with the Firebird 2 of course.
Look. The tec boom did not happen till the 2050s instead of the 1970s, and in the 2030s/40s the government took pver media and radio, and i can see them pressing the golden age for america alot which was the 1950s/60s. So alot of things from the era would be pushed more. Also taking into account gas engines were still a thing and tec did not change till the 2050s/60s, so older models would still be in use and retrofitted to use atomic power. So one could argue that those older cars are from the time given just retrofitted to be usable. :)
Perhaps the Cherry Bomb was supposed to be marketed towards potential fighter pilots for WW3? As it had a joystick and could apparently go supersonic. The US military in the fallout series are known to use strange tactics to select potential soldiers so it might not be a stretch.
Ah yes the Rocket 69, it made a cameo appearance in Forza Motorsport 6 as a DLC vehicle that you could drive and use in racing. In the Fallout universe it was known as the Cherry Bomb as described in the video.

Ever since i was a child i was a fan of the 50's designs of cars. Watching this again gives me great memories.
Love cars and retro futuristic cars are sick so I was excited to see to see this
On the Cherry Bomb car, I'm pretty sure those arent headlights, but intakes, and the exhaust ports on the end. I'm also fairly certain its engine and propulsion system works like a scramjet, especially with how fast it goes.
Love how truly comprehensive these videos are! As a car guy, I love the real world design parallels brought up.
irs likely that the no electronic analog only claim was to ward away fears of nuclear EMP blasts disabling people's cars.
What’s crazy about the 1997 Thrust SSC car, is that the land speed record hasn’t been broken in my entire lifetime. 26 years later, it’s still the only car to break the sound barrier.
I understand that the worlds are smaller these days, but I wish we had some sort of vehicle to drive around and help us explore.
If not cars then at least a mount of some sort. I'd ride a Brahmin around haha.
Honestly, I think a motorcycle might be the way to go in the newer fallouts
@@YourBoyGrey That would probably be the best option. Small, easier to maintain and store.
@@YourBoyGreyor an ATV
@@Fehn_FennecAlso (atleast when I played) it was on by default
I consider cars in Fallout to be ambush predators based on the time that I brushed up against one in Fallout 4 and the physics did a Bethany Esda and the car instantly killed my character in a single blow. (not a detonation, it just smashed my character really hard)
The Corvega Blitz is actually based on 1954 Desoto adventurer II concept car.
Id like to see you make a video, or series, speculating potential fallout games for each American state.. or at least most of them. Highlight noteworthy architecture, legends, wildlife, potential vault locations and hypothetical factions and their territories.
He does
I love the Atomic V-8, it's definitely my favorite looking car. Also those 0 to 60 times are wild 😂
imagine the g forces
The answer to the cherry bombs claim is simple. Thrust SST does not exist in the Fallout setting, since they clearly had issues with any kind of microprocessors and it seriously delayed many technological developments. Much like a certain Boston team refused any use of their trademarks to Bethesda, and never won a world series... they were set to sweep one once, but the 4th game, which they were a shoo-in to win, was scheduled for the afternoon of October 23, 2077
The last unidentified convertible you showed really reminds me of the old post war Buicks
Great video, really like your stuff
Finally, my old wish comes true, a better cars of fallout video. I just want to tell you that the Corvega Blitz Coupe is not inspired from
the oldsmobille golden rocket concept car, but from the 1954 DeSoto Adventure II, the Zip is inspired from the 1942 Oeuf Electrique, the Fallout 3 Corvega sedan is inspired (in my opinion) from the 1959 Soviet GAZ M13 Chaika or ZIL 111 or 1956 Packard Carribian (the car from wich GAZ and ZIL were inspired) and also Fallout 3's Corvega atomic V8's front in my opinion is inspired from a mid 50' cadillac and the rear from the GM LeSaber, but anyways the video is great, you really made a young boy happy and I can't wait for the part2 !!!🤩🤩🤩
There’s a mod for Fallout 4 that gives you a Highwayman to fix and use as a fast travel device, it’s pretty neat
The shape of the nozzles at the front and back of the cherry bomb suggest that it could be jet powered.
Absolutly AMAZING Video !!! ... #Respect i have actualy never seen a video about the cars in fallout with this much detail and i have been absorbing everything fallout related on youtube for years !!! ...
For how easily they explode keep in mind how long it's been since they've had any kind of maintenance
I've always wanted to build working replicas of these cars.
To be precise, Corvega Atomic V8 from fallout 4 looks closer to Buick XP-300, than Wildcat concept
The rear part is nearly identical
The side profileof the station wagon looks a lot like a different Tatra models with the central fin in the back. Most likely Tatra T87
Wow, I have hours upon hours in 76 and am almost level 300 yet I have NEVER seen that flying car. You truly do learn something new every day.
I believe "the sedan" is mostly based off the 1956 Packard patrician based off the headlights and rear fender chrome.
I swear RadKing has been one of the main reasons I have returned to Fallout, especially Fallout 4 and to do more Children of Atom quests
wow, did anyone realized the unused sprite for the fallout 2 car looked like the V8 in Mad Max: Fury road with the same fuel cells in the back? 2:48
The V8 interceptor was it's inspiration
28:21 That Car reminds a mix of a Ford Roadster 1932 and the rear maybe from a Bugatti Type 57, because of the way the column goes straight from the back to the top of the roof. Also, the other one at 28:28 reminds me of the 1925 Rolls Royce Phantom, mainly the wide fenders with the doors being "inside" and overall lines.
Even being a car guy, im not good with older cars, being better with something above 80s, but i tried my best to find some match
Always love a Radking video in the morning
I believe the deuce coupe is supposed to be a 1932 Ford coupe, its often referred to as a deuce coupe and also has a song written after It called Little deuce coupe
It's always a great day when RadKing posts a new video!
The "lights" on the Cherrybomb are definitely intake for the jets on the back. This thing breaks the sound barrier, it definitely has jet engines built into the side.
*bumps car in FO4*
Corvega: So you have chosen death?
how considerate of it to ask
They should really let us utilise cars in some new way in 5, like using repair to send them barreling towards an enemy encampment, activating an alarm to start a wave defence battle, or turning it into a massive atomic landmine with the explosives skill/perk
Y'know, considering how many people were tinkering with power armor throughout the series, I'm really surprised that nobody in canon decided to use the powerplant from the fusion-flea or zip to build some massive power/mech at some point. It could even just be the "wastelander" equivalent to military power armor, just as tough but bulkier and less efficient.
If the cherry bomb really is supersonic, they could be ramjets or whatever the fallout equivalent is
When I heard atomic V8, I was thinking of how this engine could have worked, since I thought of the name as being the engine. There is a technology called magnetic targeted fusion, which can use pistons to cause a fusion reaction, much like a prototype reactor in Canada. If we go with fission, there is fragment fission which if used as an engine for space travel, uses movement to use the fission reaction instead of the traditional way.
"All the cars in this town seem to be props anyway" - an unknown Postman from Paradise, Arisona.

I remember driving some of these cars in forza motorsport 6’s fallout DLC. Pure speed and no handling.
YES! another deep dive of the stuff in my favorite video games, A RadKing upload day is the best
In my eyes the cone shapes on the cherry bomb looks like a nuke
Dude I love your videos so much they are one of the few videos I will listen to while trying to fall asleep idk just the chill way you talk about my favorite series I love sm
I really like how they made a unique extremely high end vehicle to use in just 2 places in FO76. More variation in details is smth I really appreciate
The original video was great, can't wait to see the remaster.
You sir have earned my thumb. 👍
Interesting, that multiple cars are advertised as having "no Computers" as this is a high tech feature, manufacturers would normally bolst about.
Yo RadKing, did you know Ford created a concept car in the 50s for a nuclear powered car? It was called the Ford Nucleon. It looks very similar to cars in fallout too. Check it out!
4-door Corvega Atomic V8 is one of the coolest car designs I've ever seen
Correction on the cop car: while it somewhat looks like a spotlight, it is in fact a mechanical siren of the late 50's and 60's
I'm so glad I get to see a radking video as soon as it's posted I didn't expect to refresh my page looking for a vid and Atoms glory shine upon me!
Gotta love the fallout vehicle designs, Makes me hope fallout resurgence gets cars and supportive areas
Hey Mr. King of the Rads, I'd love to see a dedicated video on the trains of fallout too!

YES! ever since you started doing the remasters ive been hoping for a new car one
On 28:17 I think it’s based of the most expensive Duesenburg coupe which haves the pop up headlights and the leather roof which maybe have to be replaced when it get rained on
The lesabre Centre oval is it's main headlight, ita flips round to reveal the headlights
I always like watching your videos. Keep it up man.
Wonderful! Atomic cars!
I believe the Cherry Bomb’s front cones are intakes and the little nobs are the headlights, leading credence to its whole “first car to break the sound barrier” phrase.
You can drive the Cherry Bomb in Forza Motorsport 6 where it's called the Chryslus Rocket 69 and produces 1000 hp from an 'Atomic V8'.
22:14 I've always thought the back and engine was based off of the 1957 ford nucleon.
Same with this car engine too 31:57
26:03 My photoshopper’s brain is insisting that someone selected the transparency channel of that text’s layer. 😅
Those ain't highlights. those are ramjets!
That's not a car that is a wingless airplane.
With how easy these cars explode - I wonder how much damage was actually done by nukes rather than these things exploding. 😅
Could you imagine a fallout game with working vehicle's, would be fun running over everything
use mods
it’s a small thing to note, but as a nevada native, it made me really happy that it’s actually pronounced correctly here (27:16)
Perhaps the Cherry Bomb was supposed to be marketed towards potential fighter pilots for WW3? As it had a joystick and could apparently go supersonic. The US military in the fallout series are known to use strange tactics to select potential soldiers so it might not be a stretch.
The corvega coupé is inspired by a 1954 de soto adventurer
Ah yes the Rocket 69, it made a cameo appearance in Forza Motorsport 6 as a DLC vehicle that you could drive and use in racing. In the Fallout universe it was known as the Cherry Bomb as described in the video.
Thought I'd watch this when I noticed that the Fallout TV series apparently doesn't feature any of these unique cars.
