    One half of the greatest duo in the history of American rock/pop music. With many years of appreciation for vocal harmonies there have only been three sets of musicians who have moved me to realize I'd never hear anything more sublime: The Everly Bros. singing just about anything, Gene Clark, Jim McGuinn, David Crosby on those early Byrds albums, and Gary Louis/Mark Olsen on the first two Jayhawks albums. RIP in peace Don and Phil. Tears tell me you've enriched my life greatly.

    I was privileged to meet Phil and Don after their concert at the Spektrum Oslo Norway on 24 July 2004 when they appeared with Simon and Garfunkel in concert. I had the greatest pleasure having seen them previously at the Royal Albert Hall London on September 23 1983. I had followed their music closely since my early days at Grammar School in England from 1957. Together with the Byrds and the Moody Blues they were my all time favourites and they will be sadly missed but their music lives on. A brilliant duo!

    It was thanks to my late father I found out about the everly brothers he was into them he used to joke about the song When can I meet her laughing saying it sounded like me of course it wasn't but that was dad. Dry humour. Rest in peace Don hope you and Phil have reunited. Still love your music it'll rock and roll on for years to come.

    My dad spoke with him Tuesday at the hospital. He was talkative and they spoke about writing, etc. He was on oxygen, but in good spirits. Crazy it was only a few days later.

      @@EB84 Yes that’s what I’ve heard. His wife was there also. My dad took one last photo with he and Don together, but we certainly can’t share it on social media or anything. That just wouldn’t be right.

      It sounds like your father had a special relationship with Don. It's common knowledge that Don Everly was a very private individual who became more secluded as he aged. Longtime guitarist and collaborator Albert Lee would often comment on the EB Facebook page that he wished he could get through to Don but couldn't. He was very disappointed. Yet, we all deserve the privacy we seek. I'm sure your dad will keep his memory in his heart. I grew up with Everly brothers music. It directed my musical tastes from the first time I heard "Wake up Little Suzy". What a life. Both of them gave the world a gift that will keep on giving forever.

    • @GoldTop57
      @GoldTop57 3 роки тому +3

      @@kiltedwolf2 You’re absolutely correct on all counts. They are as legendary as any musical artist has ever been in my book. Dad will certainly treasure being able to speak with him that close to the end. But he also told me it’s a little troubling knowing that photo they took together might be the very last one of Don alive, or one of the last ones. Of course there’s no telling if he had any photos with his family in those last few days. But we’ll all focus on how he lived, and what he gave. That legacy will last past all of us. That’s for sure.

      I’ve always wanted to ask about your dad’s experience talking with Don. I heard he was dismissed but later came back. Was his wife with him? I’m so glad for his music.

    Everly Brothers are certainly great. However, there are great singers in Japan as well. Their names are Tatsuro Yamashita and Mariya Takeuchi. The two are a married couple.
