Don's crystal clear baritone was 1000x more beautiful with the impeccable high harmony of brother Phil behind and along with it. I loved everything they recorded but "Let It Be Me" will always hold a place of reverence in my heart. Now that they are gone, I can't even listen to it without breaking. God please continue to Bless the memory of Phil and Don Everly. Soundtrack of my youth 🎼🖤
The Everlys were not only the greatest duo ever, but influenced all pop music we hear today. Don't believe me? Then ask Keith Richards, Paul McCartney, Simon and Garfunkel, etc, etc, etc! Rest in peace, Brothers 💔💔💔
The harmony can never be repeated because of their father's influence and the tonal quality that only two brothers could have. Thank you Phil and Don for many years of enjoyable music. You are the best. And thank you Mark for doing this and I admire your talent.
The boys were so talented and respectful to those older. Their harmonies can pick you up. So many country artists come from Kentucky where music and family blended together. Sure wish I could have see them in concert.
Don and Phil are, in my humble opinion, the best of the best. I have just about everything they have ever made public. Records in the 50's, then 8 tracks, then cassettes, then CD's and of course videos. I have been to many of their appearances. I once hitch-hiked with a friend, from Minnesota to Des Moines Iowa to see them. As far as I am concerned there will never be anyone that will match their extraordinary harmony. Thanks Don and Phil for a lifetime of wonderful music.
I sat and listened to this simply entranced by the greatness of these two guys. What wonderful songs they had and such a lonesome yearning they had in their vocals. This is why it puzzles me how people say that they don't like country music. Their songs and other greats of the time left a fantastic legacy for people who grew up in the 50's and 60's to enjoy and return to again and again.
THIS IS A FANTASTIC DOCUMENTARY. ONE CAN SEE IN THE FAMILY PHOTOS THAT PHIL FAVORED HIS FATHER AND DON FAVORED HIS MOTHER, FACIALLY. I THINK TOO MUCH IS MADE OF THIS UNMATCHED HARMONY BEING THE KEY TO THEIR SUCCESS. THEIR HARMONIZING WAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL, BUT THE INCREDIBLE MATERIAL THEY SANG... THE TUNES, LYRICS, ORCHESTRATIONS ARRANGEMENTS AND MUSICIANS WERE NEVER SURPASSED. WITHOUT ALL OF THIS, THEIR UNIQUELY GORGEOUS HARMONIZATION WOULD HAVE MEANT NOTHING. THE HARMONIZING OF GROUPS LIKE THE FOUR LADS, THE FOUR ACES, THE AMES BROTHERS, THE MILLS BROTHERS, DUETS BY ROY DRUSKY AND PRISCILLA MITCHELL, BOBBY BARE AND SKEETER DAVIS, THE GODSIN BROTHERS, THE WILBURN BROTHERS, GENE PITNEY AND GEORGE JONES, PETER AND GORDON, THE BEACH BOYS, CONNIE FRANCIS AND HANK WILLIAMS, JR., GEORGE MORGAN AND MARION WORTH, ET. AL., WERE NOTHING TO SNEEZE AT.
Mark Knopfler recorded an LP with Phil in the 80s. There's some video out here of Mark with Chet Akins and Phil and Don playing an amazing Mark penned song.
beach gal Chet Atkins and Friends 1987......"Why Worry".....Mark Knopfler is as comfortable pickin' Country as he is Rock 'n Roll. Emmylou Harris was part of that concert as well. Years later Mark and Emmylou teamed up for "This is Us" and a few others.
Applauded by Mark Knoffler and millions of others. These guys had deep musical roots, and the support of a musical icon/genius Chet Atkins. They are better than i had thought, and this video helped open my eyes. They were great.RIP
Now, that's a proper history of the Everly Brothers. Discussing the rich brother harmonies, but also the fine guitar playing and their songwriting. And giving proper due to Felix and Boudleaux Bryant who wrote some of their biggest hits. And, of course, crediting their parents for their fine upbringing, musical and otherwise. They fully deserve to be in both the Country Music and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
How proud they must be to hear the narrative from Mr Knopfler! Did anyone notice the reverse negative at 9:23--they both appear to be left- handed!?Many thanks for posting!
i would go out and buy there singles with my sister when they were in the charts it was great rock roll days stick out skirts stilletoe shoes loved the everleys will always sad phil as gone but his music lives on
these guys always had and have the respect of other musicians. not the least of which was the Beatles billing themselves as the British Everly Brothers. I managed to get a meet and greet back in the 90s and although it lasted all of 5 minutes [they were about to take the stage] I can honestly say that I was knocked out by their charisma. You don't run into that indefinable star quality every day.
Beautifully done bio-tribute. The whole time I thought it was Ringo narrating … ( which I thought was odd they would pick a drummer to salute them ) … Mark K … perfect choice and perfect narration.
May 24, 2019: THIS is the result of respecting and honoring your parents!!! What a legacy they will leave behind. It is NEVER too late, so find out what your parents desired for your future and get busy!
Wonderful footage of their younger years ... also great ... the thereafter. So SAD to see this era go by. So GLAD to have been a part of it :o) Thank you for this short yet 'potent' documentary!
It was in their genes i had 4 cousins same Mother and Father one was adopted out others put in homes when reunited at our home all had the same laugh i think the fact they were blood brothers made them sound alike
1:37 omg is that an early everly family recording??? Id like to hear more of this!!!!!! Iam a from Peru and here we dont have stuff like you my american friends have😭😭😭😭😭
It would be lovely to see these historic videos in their correct 4:3 aspect ratio instead of having to look are distorted heads and bodies. Best viewed with your eyes closed I'm afraid..
They signed the first recording contract with Columbia Records and were produced by Don Law before going to Archie Bleyer's Cadence Records, they did not show this event.
Whether we like it or not America with all its negativity we’re the first to introduce us to its Blues, Rock’nRoll etc.., and to the greatest artists the world has ever known starting from their jazz blue singers to their Country folk folkbilly and pop we stream on today…..producing such unmatchable Elvis Presley the Everly Brothers etc…etc….Could go on and on and on….Congratulation America unfortunately with the passing of time a new generation has popped up with nothing but RUBBISH very unfortunate! America DO something influence the new generation to listen and learn from the past icons.
You can also see them dancing to "Baby, What'd I Say?" by Roy Orbison on the October 14, 1964 episode of Shindig. Darlene Love was one of the backup singers. No big surprise there. And the Shindig dancers!! This, my friends, was entertainment!!
I've enjoyed Everly Brothers my whole life. These days, I've a Brazilian girlfriend so to learn Portuguese, I've been enjoying country music of Brazil called Sertao. There are two sisters there who's dad taught them very much the same as Phil & Don's did. Listen to their harmonies here: ua-cam.com/video/dVIuk3bkPSI/v-deo.html
I still play Everly music every day. Thanks you Phil and Don.
This is a wonderful bio-tribute to the Everly Brothers. Thanks!!! 🌼

Phil made magic when he created the harmony.
No one can match their perfect harmony.
These guys were so incredibly underrated . That song , Let it be me , is one of the best of all time .
Damn. This is so awesome video. Thank you. RIP Everly Brothers. 👍🤗🤗🤗✌️
They are the best!!!
Saw the Everlys many times and met them, they will always be the greatest 😎
I enjoyed everyone of their records. They were the best male duet ever. Miss them.
Thank you Everly Brothers. I grew up listening to your beautiful songs and still love them too.
Rest in Peace Don,joining your brother Phil, in that big band in the sky! Pure joy to hear & watch!

I've been with them since the 50's and I agree, "The best of the best"
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I loved this video of the Everly Brothers and their family! Have always loved their music starting with Bye Bye Love!
We used to have an eight track in our car and our girls knew every word of every song of the Everley Brothers as its all we ever played .
❤️❤️ I love Everly Brothers songs👍👍
I got a little choked up at Let It Be Me. Loved these guys and their music.

Beautiful music by one of the greatest, and such a moving tribute by the greatest of all. God bless them all.
They sounded so good " the first time I heard them ( I thought they were girls singing ) of course I was very young then .
they dont make music like this any more, and few singers today, have the ability to sing these songs, ANYWAY!
Beautifully done bio-tribute. The whole time I thought it was Ringo narrating … ( which I thought was odd they would pick a drummer to salute them ) … Mark K … perfect choice and perfect narration.
Excellent. And great narration by one of the Ev's friends, Mark Knopfler ;)
Love that Mark Knopfler narrated this tribute
Unmatched two part harmony.
I went to see them perform in Denver Colorado,at a club named Mr.Luckys. good singers.
Best harmonisers ever….

Both sing lead in all songs...strangest beautiful harmony-also one of very few who managed to swim through the British tsunami and come up whole.
This archie guy was so stupid he almost cost the world the best harmonizing duo ever thank God someone took another look.
RIP Phil.

R.I.P. Phil

RIP .. Phil
Ihre Schönheit trug auch mit bei zu dem grossen Erfolg.
Simon and Garfunkel were heavily influenced by The Everlys and do a great cover of Bye Bye Love too.
Farewell xx
the beatles were big fans
Don and Phil are both left handed, their father made them learn to play guitar right handed when he taught them.
Wow. Wonder why he did that?
Left handed guitars were rarer and more expensive
Born in '51 , how great is that ?
I'm so sad

Does anyone know where I could find the full clip at 5:51 where they're dancing?
It's from the December 7, 1957 episode of The Perry Como Show.
