Just updated my 7300 to 1.4! No pain - no strain. Going to the FT8 video now. Thanks for the walk through! Love the channel. Keep up the great work. 73s
Finally,..I had written to Icom when I bought my 7300 over 3 years ago that the Ref. Levels had to be continually adjusted every time you swapped bands, I take it they were listening! thanks!! -NP2KW
It is nice to have the feature. Here's the funny thing, I didn't even realize I was missing out on it until I got a radio which had independent reference levels per band. I love it!
For the 1.50 future update (wishful thinking), we would like an analog type meter like the 7610, that would be awesome. They could fit it on the right hand side of the display under the clock and reposition the VFO A/B and Mem. Ch. to the left of the display under the TX lamp.
One of the neatest updates is to be able to use the multi knob on the fly now to adjust NR. Much respect for Icom to come out with an update for a radio that's a bit long in the tooth...what 6 years now? I thought 1.30 would be it. Kenwood isn't doing that for the 590sg and Yaesu is just Yaesu.... I digress. Now can we please get a IC-7305? Just make it a 100w version of the 705. 73
Ya know, I do fancy myself a Yaesu kind of bloke. That being said, if money was not a problem, I'd be keen on a 7300 & 9700 as the perfect home station. Either way, great video Sean, you rock man.
Yo Dude, Thanks for the video. I found it quite helpful, especially since you posted the links in the description. One suggestion: When removing the SD card from the radio, remind folks to use "Unmount SD card". Eject from the computer before removing the card is important too. Just pulling the card is not always a problem, but a proper unmount is certainly recommended. 73 de N9KJU, Ken S.
@@Capecodham Yo as in a friendly greeting. So rather than Hello Bert, one might say Yo Dude, And since the video is posted by Ham Radio Dude, it seemed like the a fun way to start my reply.
Thank you! I think that the 7300 will be my new HF rig. First I need an HOA friendly antenna🤔 Seems funny that the zipped file is larger than the extracted files or did I read that wrong? Maybe by the time I'm ready the new firmware will be installed.
The 7300 is a great radio to start with. Plenty of support and Icom does a great job with their firmware releases. I am in the unfortunate and dreaded HOA as well. Are you allowed to put anything Outside?
@@HAMRADIODUDE Yes, I have a patio area and I had a MA6V on a ten foot mast which was barely visible above the roof line. It only went down to 20 meters. For 40 meters and 80 meters I had mobile whip antennas with quick disconnect mounts ground mounted with about a dozen radials about 12 feet long laid out. The Mark V field that I have is getting too heavy for me to lug around!
Great explanation, I have a kind of weird question, How do I ask this? Ok, does anyone like hro or w5yi provides this firmware download for those of us who don't have access to the internet and computers?
Great instructional vid, I have a question, I have a ic 7300 and I like to install the 1.40 firmware but I don't have access to the internet or a computer, Does anyone Does the downloads can I buy them somewhere?
Thanks. I've done it step by step but the radio don't find the file 7300_140.dat The file is in the card but the radio don't find it. When I go in the SD Card menu => Firmware Update and I press YES when the system ask "... do you agree to all of the above", the radio say "-No File -" How's possible? Damn! (Icom: if the radio is connected to the pc via USB cable, why you don't allow to update the firmware via USB cable?)
The 7300_140 file is inside the 7300 folder? That's a new one. The sd card backed up the files from the icom okay? Really, I think it weigh one of those two things. I hope you get it.
Yeah, you'll want to unmount the card before taking it out. It's not something I do, but should have been noted as it could create issues with the card if you don't unmount before removing
Joseph,I saw your comment on the ftdx10 video about the break in noise on cw. I can send you a video link demonstratimg it, if your email address is good on qrz. I'm not proficient enough to do cw faster than a few words a minute, but I could probably set up a program to demonstrate it, if you'd like.
Overall, the FTDX10 - Sounds so amazing, I get great audio reports, it's a overall nice radio. The big display is great etc. I do have a few small gripes that I wish they would fix, but I'm sure that's with every radio. I know I've been slacking on the DX10 Videos... I'll work on it. Sorry my friend. Hope you're well!
@@HAMRADIODUDE Thanks Sean! I'm not a winter guy (even though I live in Canada LOL) I'm ready for warmer weather LOL. I'm leaning towards the 7300 myself purely due to the fact that everyone says ICOM is a more thorough company in terms of track record I guess. I'm upgrading from a TS-570SG. I dig you channel man, great content! 7 3
Hey burt, I made a new video yesterday about configuring the 7300 with the new firmware for ft8. It's a bit long, but maybe something there will help. Specifically, i think "unlink from remote" got changed in the radio settings when I upgraded the firmware. I'd check that and the com settings to make sure they didn't get changed. Hopefully that gets you in the right direction
Thank you for your great video my friend!! Very well presented well done! would it be possible please drop me an email and I would appreciate you expertise advice on small update glitch if possible, Thank you 73deA25SL

unmount card ? or turn radio off before removing or inserting card.
