- There were tons of great coins in this old-time 1950s coin collection I was entrusted with handling, but the best coins seem to have came at the end. I was blown away with the quality found in this last batch, including multiple items that I believe have a very solid likelihood of achieving 5-figure valuations when they are sold at Heritage Auctions. I am very pleased with this last batch, and thrilled to see their results - what are your predictions here? And what do you think the items will realize.. am I being reasonable?

Dang! This is a once in a lifetime event to go through these coins!
Absolutely!
Congratulations Christian. I think the 5 Mark New Guinea alone is worth a fortune, not to mention the uncredible, awesome, beautiful, mindblowing rest of this collection. Now i'm jealous.😁
So grateful to be able to handle it!
I noticed a gray tone in every coin. It looks circulated but give off the impression of possible of AU/UNC My humble opinion, I think majority of them are fake.
@@Orbgy my honest opinion, that doesn't make sense at all.
@@Michel-7.7.7 Which part did not make sense? I may be wrong, I doubt every coin in this video are genuine.
@@Orbgy so now you're moving the goalposts from "every coin has a grey tone and is fake", to "i doubt every coin is real"? Christian finessed his craft and knowledge in years of experience. Don't you think he knows how to spot fakes? So tell me, what is your expertise, aside from noticing a gray tone from a video?
Great assortment of coins. Besides the 5 Mark Neu Guinea (retail value around 2 k), the Prussian 1719 Gulden is an absolute stunner. That´s what I call a high end collection, thanks for sharing ! 👌Greets from GER, U.
Thanks so much Uwe! In Munich right now for the show. 5M NG graded AU58 at NGC and is at Heritage.
@@TreasureTownCoinsYou´re welcome, Christian. Have a great time in Munich.
It was wonderful! Nice to see my cousin (who is at University of Munich), go to the Starkbierfest, and most importantly make a lot of friends and connections + buy items at the show.@@fareast_de
@@TreasureTownCoinsGlad to hear about that. Hope you didn´t get too much Starkbier ! 😅 Munich- Weihenstephan is the first of just two universities in Germany where you can study horticulture (second is Hannover).
That is a beautiful collection can not wait to see how it all comes out congratulations on being apart of that.
Thank you so much!
thank you for the sharing my friend 👍
Utterly amazing quality coins!!!
Beautiful collection. One thing I noticed were the envelopes and finish on the coins that were not in the plastic protection. My dad stored in similar envelopes and the coins developed the same finish which is unfortunate but that what they stored in during that era.
Congratulations on being able to handle the collection. Good things come to good people
Good point! and thank you - I was honored to be a part of it.
The early Russian Roubles from the mid 1700s are world treasures. I looked up just one of them. According to the NGC price guide, that 1741 Russian Rouble with the portrait of Ivan III is Catalogue Number KM-207.2 and has a value of $6,000 in VF, $12,000 in EF, and realized $52,500 in MS-64 at the Goldberg sale in May 2008.
Totally agree - those were the ones I was most excited about.
Very nice collection. I would definitely get them out of those envelopes. I believe the envelopes can damage the surface of those coins. The acid in the paper will discolor them. Awesome video!
Absolutely - they are no longer in them :)
That is one sweet collection. Wish I had the money to buy all of them
Totally - even having one is awesome!
thanks for the video and sharing your knowledge
Thanks JCS!
thanks for sharing!! i love big coins!!!!
I have some of this, but I want everything!
Really enjoyed your sharing of this collection even though I really don't have any knowledge in this area. I do hope that you share some results with us. As always, nice work!
Holy Grail indeed! Super lot!!
Thanks Dave!
great coins
That 1726 Russian Katherine coin was stunning. What a great collection to meander through. Kudos!
Thanks so much, it was super fun!
Awesome, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching BSH!
Nice find
Remarkable coin collection ... there are some really special coins in this video. Thanks for sharing. Treasure Town is the best!
Thank you!
I would be sad to see it go but hey you should net around $10k when all is said and done. Plus you got to enjoy them and make some great videos
That's what I'm hoping in the range of!
The yen 416 is for the weight of grains.
Hope you won your water polo match! Incredible collection. Wish you could track the original $800 buyer down to see what was in there, but that’s likely lost in the wind now. Hopefully that was his more modern box.
That's what I'm hoping - and thank you! (also, appreciate your positive comments over the years)
Frederick III....holy shit
thanks for the video...........
Absolutely.
On the silver Yen, it's 416 grains of 900 silver.
I'm surprised he didn't have a 1921 RSFSR Rouble.
Thanks!
Wow, what an amazing collection, so many of those pieces are just fresh/original and breathtaking.
Do you know if the collection is from the UK? The accompanying tag for the Iraqi 1 Ryal coin says 18/6 on the bottom, maybe indicating that the original collector paid 18 shillings and sixpence for it. It would also indicate that the collection is pre-1971, which makes sense
All I can say is wow. Thank you for sharing!
Absolutely! So the collection is pre-1953 (when they stopped buying). It was a doctor in the States who bought world coins when he would (apparently frequently) travel across Europe.
19:14 It's some kind of mistake. This coin is not Ivan III. In the history of Russia there was Ivan VI during these years of reign. Ivan III reigned from 1462-1505. This coin is fake.
How much are they worth ,do you have anything over 1000 or 5000 thousand
Yes, definitely a few in there - last batch realized ~$125,000 - but none of this is with me anymore.
Well I’am glad you sold them and made some money, congratulations 🎉👏🍻
wow PVC
I was waiting for you to open the 1899 Hong Kong dollar, first in the middle row, but it doesn't look like you got to it. Any comment on it? Or, another video coming?
The 1909 Philippines peso looked like it was in the ocean for a while…
I saw a Diana Princess of Wales 5 Oz. gold coin from Tokelau. Only 25 pieces minted.
Time to play the “what horrible fate did that Russia Tsar meet” game.
Tough for a lot of rulers on ancients too!
The 1909 philippines peso is from the oceans. During ww2 the American government didnt want the japanese too get the coins in the philippines so they order the coins be thrown into the oceans so japan couldnt take them.
Fascinating, did not think of that!
😮
So fun!
that 1553 salzburg guldiner is a multi-thousand-dollar coin
the 5 guinea mark is insane too
Absolutely! Came back 58 from NGC and is being offered at Heritage - some awesome stuff in the mix
🍯🐝🌻
Since they all appear to have PVC and envelope glue damage, you might should have them dipped in 100% acetone. Consult an expert first.
They went to a real expert
Russian Ivan VI rouble about 5000 $
I think you're right - $10K might have been too high - have to see how it grades
Definitely improperly stored. A lot of those coins probably looked BU perfect when they were originally put in those envelopes. The envelope has acid that damages the coin. The plastic bags have PVC which damages the coins. Some 3cent 2x2's would have prevented that. Shame.
Agree.
Palestine 🇵🇸
Any of this silver coins
Not to be a nitpicker, but could you please watch where you put your fingers. You've been grabbing the coins out of the flips by the obverse and revers and you can see from that earlier coin that those prints do stay on the coin.
As much as I enjoy seeing this collection of coins, and I do very much appreciate them, it is a little disheartening as it makes my own personal accumulation seem rather feeble and weak. Anyway, I was especially struck with the Tibetan coin (crown?) which I feel may be a higher value item (I can't imagine Tibet issued a lot of coins), and also many of those Prussia and German States pieces. Beautiful. Thanks
For sure! My collection is much smaller too - I wish dealers would show the accumulations they find more (but most are pretty secretive or don't have the time)
Those coins don't look like they are stored properly. If not, the PVC from the plastic and the glue from the envelope will damage the coins over time. And it looks like they have already been stored improperly already for a long time.
True! Has been stored like that for ~70 years. Not anymore!
"sigma machine" like a Sigma Boss? Precious metal detection?
Yes!
Just to be clear - you are screening these and then they will be submitted to Heritage?
Yes, exactly. Heritage won't want anything sub-$150 and they return those items to me. First coins from this batch will appear in some of the Signature sales.
How did the first box go to a dealer at 800 bucks
Not every dealer is honest :/
Fantastic!
