@@Blio_ To be honest, I doubt most of them are actually trying to be anti aro, specifically. More likely they just really genuinely don't understand and are only trying to be snotty to some one who doesn't think like they do, and so they pick at a thing that would hurt them and is relevant to the topic of conversation. Less 'anti aro', more 'attack anyone who doesn't think like me'

I came out as trans to a guy at my church and he went "to be honest, I'm never going to use female pronouns for you and even if you change your name to a female name, I'm unlikely to use it. Your name is Ollie and that's the name I'll use"... Yeah, mate. I'm a trans dude but ok...
I was in a heated argument with someone online and he suddenly said: "You'll always be a man!" That immediately calmed me down and I said "Thank you!" to him. Mind you, I said I'm a transman multiple times.
Lol once I was replying to someone who asked what a deadname was, I explained it to them, I didn't mention my gender identity or ASAB once in that reply. A transphobe then replied to me saying "you will never be a woman." I'm AFAB and genderfluid/nonbinary. Like thanks for the validation dude I appreciate it lmao
My uni has gender-neutral bathrooms readily available throughout campus. Because of positive feedback from students, they're going to add more of them. Just thought I'd share because I think it's pretty cool.
My new college has gender neutral restrooms all over campus, too! Plus when we were having our first-year prep meetings, the leaders asked each of us to give our pronouns when introducing ourselves. All the first year students also had to take an online course about diversity and inclusion. There was a survey in the course and one of the questions was about sexual orientation, and asexuality was actually an option! I had never seen that before and it felt amazing! (Yes I know it's just a word on a form but it felt like someone actually cared about the ace community)
A friend of mine is MtF, and she passes really well. She told someone she was trans, and they said “You will never be a man”, not knowing she was MtF 😂

Also complex biology proves the existence of trans and non binary people but basic biology just shows you that you have a skeleton, muscles, organs and cells.

My mom is one of those people who hates they/them pronouns so I always laugh when she uses they/them for people we don't know. She's recently started correcting herself to he cause, you know, you're supposed to assume everyone's a man if you you don't know their gender, but everytime she slips up I can't help but feel smug.
@The Hittite Yea, if it was good enough for Shakespeare (and is even used as a singular pronoun in the King James bible), why isn't it good enough for her?
Ugh I hate when people use the male pronouns by default. Sounds so sexist. Especially in the workplace. Hypothetical managers are always referred to as he/him and it bothers me like hell
Even middle school biology doesn't make it legitimate because hormone levels can change sex characteristics, which is the primary determination of sex.
Middle school biology from 40 years ago (when I went there). I knew people who would be trans men, looked like boys, had boys nickname, behave more like boys, nobody made a deal out of it. Maybe it was different in usa. Also my language has one noun for people, so that was not an issue either.
If they/them is plural I don’t recommend fighting someone who uses they/them because they can easily outnumber you. So next time someone says you can’t use they/them just remember you are canonically a walking army and can easily jump them.
Well, in the Old Testament (time before Jesus) there are in deed several examples of polygamie, but in each one of those it really complicated things for everyone involved. The morality of polygamie isn't commented on in the Old Testament as far as I know. In the New Testament the leadership figures cannot have multiple wives. That's pretty much all that is said on the subject, zo it isn't exactly a big thing in the Bible.
If transphobes use “basic biology” to argue their point, just remember that the “biology” is from middle/high school, unless you’re in college and majoring in biology the biology taught is so bare minimum actual biologists probably laugh at it being called that, science is an ever changing field of study so biology from just five years ago could be different to now, the majority of gender identity happens in the brain so it’s more neurology/psychology than biology, and if they’re a much older person, they haven’t had biology in some 30+ years. Science supports gender identity as a spectrum.
@@The0Stroy Sorry I forgot to clarify. You say that because most people who shout about “basic biology” don’t realize that kind of thing. Most associate “biology” with anatomy/physiology. Also, getting into more specifics instead of such a broad category is important.
Since transphobes talk about middle school biology it's pretty safe to assume they don't have higher education than that, and therefore don't know shit about what they're talking about...
One of my teachers told me about Elliot Paige. He knows I'm trans but can't go by my chosen name (James owo, probably don't need to clarify, but the owo isn't part of my name I just think its funny--), so he calls me my last name, and one day he had me stay after class to ask if I'd heard about Elliot Paige, and he talked to me about representation and hope, and he asked how I was doing mentally and told me to talk to him if I was ever struggling, and I'm like 😢 tEaChEr oF tHe yEaR

Whenever someone objects to they/them pronouns for one person because "it's plural so it's just not grammatically correct" I start addressing them as "thou" in the second person.
In Polish, there is a popular expression "lecz się" (translation: "cure yourself") which seeks to offend a person, stating that there is something wrong with them (most often with their mind), and there are many expressions that derive from that meaning of "leczyć" ("to cure"). This sometimes results in absolutely wonderful "accidentallly pro-trans" comments such as: "Tych ludzi powinno się leczyć". (it translates to "Those people should go, get cured"), to which you can reply along the lines "exactly, we should give them some hormones or something", still leaving poor transphobes clueless about your intentions, since they don't even know that this is the actual medicine trans people need. :D
i used to identify as FtM, and people would constantly tell me "tHeReS oNlY tWo GeNdErS" as if TRANS itself was a gender. now im a nonbinary lesbian and living my best life!
Hi, I just wanted to get something clarified. From what I know, being non binary means not identifying with being a woman, nor a man. And being lesbian means when a woman is attracted to another woman. So how can a nonbinary person be a lesbian, if they aren't a woman? No hate, I just want to understand
i understand your confusion, but i dont answer questions like this. i encourage people to take it upon themselves to do their own research and answer their own questions. im not required to explain or justify my identity

I don’t get why ppl decided to gender sports in the first place. Especially gendering them by just male and female by doing that it excludes non-binary ppl and others who use any other pronouns besides the masculine and feminine ones. Sports should be separated by skill and maybe weight class depending on the sport
@I can't think of a name It shouldn't be, my sister used to play soccer when she was young, and up until she was like 7 they let the girls and boys play all together before separating them, and as far as I know they had no problems playing together like that.

The one with the middle school biology textbook and riot squad shows how small-minded the transphobes' views of gender and sex really are. It's not as cut-and-dry as "penis = boy" and "vagina = girl" or "XY = boy" and "XX = girl". There are all kinds of possibilities in a sexual species. You can have females that are XX and males just X (insects). You can have females that are ZW and males ZZ (birds). You can be female because you developed in a warm environment or male because you developed in a cool environment (non-avian diapsids a.k.a. "reptiles"). You can be female and have a mini-penis (spotted hyenas). You can be male and carry eggs (seahorses). You can be a hermaphrodite (sea snails, tapeworms, some plants). You can be female because you lost a penis-swordfighting contest (some flatworms). You can be female because you started out male but gained weight and changed sexes after the only female in your group died, or vice versa (clownfish, parrotfish). You can have males that look and act female because they're trying to get close enough to actual females to mate with them (cuttlefish, bluegills, and some others). Or you can be one of many thousands of sexes (slime molds and some mushrooms). What? The transphobes only mean HUMANS? Okay then. You can be male because you started with a female body but have 5-alpha reductase deficiency and grew a dick at the age of twelve. You can be female because your chromosomes are XY but you have an insensitivity to androgens. You can be female because your chromosomes are XY but your Y chromosome is missing a SRY gene. You can be male because your chromosomes are XX but one of your X's HAS the SRY gene. You can be male with XXY chromosomes and thus develop manboobs, wide hips, and tiny junk. You can be female with only one X chromosome at all and thus can never go through puberty or get preggers. You can be XYY, XXYY, XXXX, YYYY, XXXXX, YYYYY, whatever. You can be female because you started with a male body but your brain and heart are female, and vice fucking versa. Nobody has a right to twist science to justify their bigotry against us trans and nonbinary people. The world is too weird for that shit.
I agree but I don't think a YYYY or YYYYY person should be able to even survive, AFAIK having an X chromosome is pretty important to live for us humans - then again maybe I'm wrong
@@Miju001 you are correct, in XY species, the X chromosome encodes for necessary things, while the Y chromosome only encodes for being male. So if doesn’t have an X chromosome, it doesn’t develop much further than the zygote stage.

I still love the one nurse I had after my hysterectomy. She was actually lovely, but woefully misinformed. My chart had the info about my being trans, but she was like a lot of people who don't realize trans men exist. I was only a year into my transition and hadn't had top surgery yet and obviously I couldn't wear my binder, so I forgave her confusion on the matter. I remember her asking me how long I'd been transitioning, and I said about a year. She praised how good I looked and asked what I'd done to change my voice (that's when I'd realized she thought I was a trans woman, because my voice hadn't really dropped much yet). I explained and she was genuinely surprised, and then had so many questions. I was stuck in recovery for several hours, so I was happy to explain it to her. Hopefully, that helped her be better prepared the next time she encounters a trans man in her care.
She didn't know, but she was _willing to learn._ That is something very important these days. The will to listen and learn, which lots of people seem to, _unfortunately,_ not have.

I like the "Middle School Biology" because some people have studied biology beyond the middle school level and learned more about its complexities. About the last one with the anchor - all the other things in the storm are "bad" so I think they are saying male and female restrooms are also bad and we should switch to unisex bathrooms?
People deliberately dumb down what they're teaching kids (which is silly, they shouldn't) and it leads to things like a teacher saying "nobody can exist with a single X or a single Y chromosome, it's not possible" when there was literally a girl in her class with Turner's Syndrome, aka a single X. She was telling someone to her face that she was a biological impossibility. The sort of biology they teach kids just isn't accurate.
The 'Middle School Biology' one My science teacher (basic biology) is actually very supportive of her trans students (im not the only one) and she tries her best (sometimes slips up) and she uses our names and pronouns. She is my only teacher now that uses my pronouns

I saw a thing earlier today where someone said, "I don't know what a 'cisgender' is, but I don't want one in front of my kids." Never thought I'd agree so much with a transphobe, but here we are (Present company excluded, of course)
i know this isnt your newest video and lots of people watch your videos, but i found your channel over a year ago and I am coming out as a transwoman. thanks for the videos they help
I LOVED this video, I have to share it with some of my friends 😅 Thank you Jammie, you're awesome! I hope people find more of these, it made my night! 👍🥰👏👏👏👏👏
I've been talking more and more to my (very sheltered, innocent) friend about LGBT+ stuff and I had to explain to him which way the words "transman" and "transwoman" go yesterday. After a couple minutes, he understood it as "The prefix 'Trans-' is how they got to the end result, which is the gender placed after it." It turned out a lot better than last week's explanation of SuperStraight and the idea that one can socially and medically transition without surgery and still be trans. He's learning, and can only do that if he asks questions, which I support fully, so he won't be a butt about it if/when I come out
When Abby Thorn came out some rando tweeted "You will never be a man, and by your looks you won't be tricking anyone!" Abby's tweet literally said "I'm a trans woman!" so I don't know how he fucked that up
im often afraid of speaking my mind on me being a trans man. Afraid of judgement, ridicule of my chosen name, of questions i can't answer, saying the wrong thing... but then i watch your videos, and suddenly it all makes sense. I dont have to feel worried here, cus we're all good :) i am who i am, as is everyone else. Cis or trans, or anything outside of that-- we all just humans! Thank you for this man :)

The last post putting "polygamy" next to the "anti-Bible" things confuses me. have they ever read the Bible???
Well, in the Old Testament (time before Jesus) there are in deed several examples of polygamie, but in each one of those it really complicated things for everyone involved. The morality of polygamie isn't commented on in the Old Testament as far as I know. In the New Testament the leadership figures cannot have multiple wives. That's pretty much all that is said on the subject, zo it isn't exactly a big thing in the Bible.
I was about to comment this
If transphobes use “basic biology” to argue their point, just remember that the “biology” is from middle/high school, unless you’re in college and majoring in biology the biology taught is so bare minimum actual biologists probably laugh at it being called that, science is an ever changing field of study so biology from just five years ago could be different to now, the majority of gender identity happens in the brain so it’s more neurology/psychology than biology, and if they’re a much older person, they haven’t had biology in some 30+ years.
Science supports gender identity as a spectrum.
"it’s more neurology/psychology than biology"
News to you - those are (with all medicine) subcategories of biology.
@@The0Stroy Sorry I forgot to clarify. You say that because most people who shout about “basic biology” don’t realize that kind of thing. Most associate “biology” with anatomy/physiology. Also, getting into more specifics instead of such a broad category is important.

Transphobes: Basic middle school biology says...
Me: Words and sentences are fake because basic elementary teaches that the Alphabet exists. There can't be anything else; that's how you sound 🤦♀️
Whenever the 'it's basic biology' is brought up, I get a flashback to where one year I was learning about the different tastes and where you taste them on your tongue. Then literally the next year, I learned that that is not how it works 😅
Also, I definitely learned about things like intersex and Klinefelter and Turner Syndrome. Still not about transpeople and the complexity of gender but a little more than just XY=male and XX=female :D
@@mickb.8925 wait omg what how does the tongue thing work
@@LambentLight00 Tastebuds are all over the place on the tongue instead of on specific spots how people think they are before.
Why do transphobes do this all the time though???
I love it-
Because they're stupid. They wouldn't be transphobic if they weren't
Because they fundamentally don't understand they thing they're trying to fight against
Because theyre uneducated---
@@kylehayden3113 that's literally it tho, I grew up thinking a lot of transphobic stuff cause of my parents and had so many basic misconceptions cause of just...having literally no good info at the time
Because they know nothing about it and don’t want to learn about so they just say what they think will make them sound like an ass
I needed a video from you, my older brother just made a I identify as a helicopter "joke" he wasn't even talking about gender. I'm non binary and its really hard to say nothing. :(
So say something.
Talk to him alone. Tell him where that joke came from and how it makes you feel. The nature of memes is that it’s easy for people not affected by them to be ignorant of how they arose. Normally, there is little point to educating transphobes/enbyphobes. But, in this instance, he’s your brother. He very likely had no intention of being mean (especially since, as you say, he wasn’t talking about gender). Furthermore, he has an obligation to support you since he’s your older sibling. Let him know that he hasn’t fulfilled that obligation, and how he can do better in the future. He probably does genuinely love you, and if he does then he will change how he acts.
@@sophiejones7727 Sorry for the late reply but thank you for responding. Now that I look back at my comment I feel I worded it wrong. My mom and my brother where talking about how they called someone who works in hr some fancy name because it was a job listing and my mom asked why they would change it and he said, "you cant Identify as a human anymore you have to identify as a panda or an attack helicopter" this is a common occurrence for them. Im not dismissing anything you said and I understand I should definitely talk to them I'm just worried about how they'll act when I do. I think I'm at least going to wait till I'm a bit older before I come out just incase they dont accept me.
Edit: I decided I wanted to add some stuff.
@mi pájaro me esta buscando agreed
my friend, who is nonbinary as well as myself, made an attack helicopter joke on accident and for a second we just sat there like "....."
I am also a cis-woman who would prefer not to share a bathroom with TERFs! I feel much safer around transwomen than Karens.
I'm also new to your channel, and this is the first of your videos I'm watching. I think I like you!
I was on Omegle once, for context I’m FtM, and I kept running into trump supporters who were saying “you’ll never be a man”
So
I started saying I was a trans woman and they all started saying “you’ll never be a woman! You were born a man and that’s how it’ll always be”
They really are that clueless and mad
@Stripes
That’s not.... what I’m saying??
I’m saying that when I told them I was born female, they called me a girl and told me I was a girl
And when I lied and said I was born male, therefore implying I was a trans woman, they called me a guy
@Stripes
Yeah, exactly.
I’m just stating that transphobes can’t actually tell what you are.
I always get the “well you LOOK like a girl” and when I flip it they say “well you LOOK like a boy”
So I’m saying they can’t actually tell, they just go off of whatever you tell them.
Hence why I said they’re ✨ clueless ✨
Speaking of that Middle school Biology book. I went to Middle school in the early 90’s and our Biology book stated that not everyone is heterosexual ”such as homosexuals or... wait for it... arsonists”. I still find that kind of hilarious in a sad way. It sure was weird reading for someone like me who was confused and leaning towards a non-heterosexual lifestyle. And no, I’m not an arsonist. lol
Uhhhhhhhhh......... what?, who wrote that book?
When I hear what some churches say about LGBTQ+ I start to wonder if I'm not arsonist...
@@jamestheawsome100 Can’t remember. But some Swedish folks. Yes, this was taught in the progressive, liberal and inclusive country of Sweden, believe it or not.

Have a lovely day Jamie, you're an amazing human being that brightens the world with every upload
"It's basic biology!"
Okay, transphobes, I'll raise you.
It's basic psychology, and it's basic human decency.
(I have a trans friend [nonbinary] and it's really not that hard to just say they/them in reference to them. I have slipped up once or twice but I corrected myself, and you can too.)
Also, my take on the restroom debate: just rename them!
Label one as having urinals, and label one as having not having urinals. Problem solved, the bathroom is no longer about gender.
I love this.
Brilliant idea!!!
Jamie, talking about the last pic: are they trying to say these things are bad?
me, an agender person, seeing 'gender' in the picture: yes, gender is bad. good thing i am immune to gender
I am the gender vendor. I buy and sell gender.
If you have any left over gender, I will gladly take it off your hands
ok ngl ive been struggling so far this morning and it seems that the only thing actively calming and distracting me is jamies videos and positive vibes,,,, like- dang
This reminds me of my brother saying “are you assuming my gender?!?” When I told our cat that he was my stupid brother and he has a history of being transphobic and calling people from the lgbtq community weird I’ve been using she/them pronouns and I also explained to him that using “ I’m cis,bi, trans, pan” as a joke is not a thing and stood there not laughing while he made a fool of himself
Transphobes: Transmen will never be women!
Me: Yeah, that’s the point.
The "Middle school biology" one makes me laugh each time. They think they have ultimate truth on their side, while in reality it's like arguing physics and trying to disprove Einstein by quoting Newton. The irony is so sweet. Like, yeah, we still learn about Newtonian physics in the beginning but later on we also learn that it's more complex than what he figured out.
If someone argues that "they/them" is plural only, let them know that "you/you" is also plural. You have to use "thee/thou" for singular.
^ and singular "they" was actually coined before singular "you" was
Actually thou/thee but ues
Ooh that plural argument is so much more fun with "themself"
It's that singular "self" in the same word that makes it so much tastier.
Often I find myself using “Themselves” as a singular. It just sounds better to me.
@@LoraLoibu I know. I appreciated her willingness to learn.

@@IPONJ thx lmao
it isn't even advanced, sex is different than gender. sex = chromosomes, gender = identification. everyone is born with both, and our pronouns, which are based off of our gender, should be used correctly. smh, it's not that hard to understand

The last picture:
Only the Non-binary can survive
correction: only the agender can survive
for context: nonbinary isn't just genderless, it's anything that isn't binary. this can include genderless or gender neutral (agender, neutrois, maverique), partial gender (demigender), multiple genders (bigender, pangender, omnigender), fluid genders (genderfluid), fluctuating genders (genderflux), and many others!

@@aim-to-misbehave5674 not a biological impossibility, but a biological impurity
I remember that time you reacted to someone saying something along the lines of “I DONT USE PRONOUNS IM NORMAL” ... 🤦🏻♀️
The 'Middle School Biology' one
My science teacher (basic biology) is actually very supportive of her trans students (im not the only one) and she tries her best (sometimes slips up) and she uses our names and pronouns. She is my only teacher now that uses my pronouns
You're so wholesome. I love watching your videos and having a cute lil safe place to discuss and acknowledge these things when my parents and people around me are so anti-LGBTQ+. It's really refreshing to have a nice little support system and safe space to breathe on your channel.
You never fail to make my day! Your calmness is infectious! 🌸
I had a friend ask me "who was that actress from Juno?" And I was like "oh the actor Elliot Page?" My friend is very pro everything and just had a lapse. They correct me when I don't remember things. It's nice to have pro everything friends that are still cool with slip ups that are totally accidental.
That's sweet! It's good when people are willing to be corrected. If a person makes s mistake then just correct them and a lot of the time they'll accept :D
"Trans men? What mythical creature are you talking of?"
Wait... I'm a mythical creature? Noice.
Your fellow french genderfluid feeling highly masc these days
Hell yeah!
I am ftm. A few years back (pre transition, pre coming out, not even trying) and wearing a work pollo and shorts I was at a rest stop. After fueling up I went to the ladies toilet. When I came out I was faced with a LIVID woman who had cornered a poor teen from the hungry jacks counter and over 50 people staring at me in silence. She demaned the police and everything. I just shrugged and said sorry in a questioning tone and walked out. It was so shameful and degrading but also scary as heck as everyone watched on as aaggressive man followed me to the car swearing at me coz he confused. Lucky I was parked near the front door and I got the F out of there. So, scary and humiliating but correctly gendered.
I'm glad you're safe. So odd how strangers pick and choose when it's "okay" to be aggressive. Like is it ever okay?
The whole "they/them" thing is rediculous when I was pregnant I referred to my baby as they them and it was rediculous how many people were like oh you're having twins?!... no... it's a gender neutral option since I don't want to call my baby "it"...
have you ever considered... that I am actually 3 large rats in a trench coat.
OOH thanks to this video I understood why "they/them" can be use as singular!💜
I'm not a native english speaker, and we don't have anything similar in my language so, although I used that pronoun with non-binarie people, I wasn't able to understand how it worked.
Some of this posts were helpfull as examples.. thaks💜
English is basically 16 other languages in a trench coat!
They/them has actually been a singular pronoun in English for longer than you/your has been. In Shakespearian English, you/your was the plural and thee/thou was the singular. That's why we say "you are" instead of "you is", even though we would say "she is" instead of "she are".
These are the transphobes that aren't even good at being transphobes. It reminds me of a beautiful quote.
"If you're gonna bully someone, at least be good at it, jeez!"

I really love that you explain everything that you're talking about, because I find it really difficult to understand by myself and it makes your videos really accessible to people like me!
I saw a thing earlier today where someone said, "I don't know what a 'cisgender' is, but I don't want one in front of my kids."

"you'll never be a girl!" "you'll never be a boy!"
me, nonbinary: thanks i know :)
6:23 Imagine using basic information that was watered down so that CHILDREN could understand it as an argument about something way more complex. These people are getting B's in biology, then growing up thinking they're experts on humans and being trans.
