I have been led to say this from the Holy Spirit: Mary is a blessed woman however she is NOT God Jesus Christ is God! If we believe in what Christ did for us on the cross at calvary we will be saved! Harry Potter came out when I was in 5th grade. My teacher was obsessed with it and was reading it to my class. My wonderful Italian Catholic grandmother knew it was demonic and kept that teacher from reading it to me. She also made me be an alter boy I admit I was reluctant but still glad I did it. I taught my nieces, nephews, and family about Catholicism. But their parents refused to allow me taught them all. I failed. They refused to take their children to Catholic Church for baptism... now, their children are adults. Some of them support wacko godless liberals. I lost my faith.

I'm asking this question sincerely, if the books were inspired by the demonic why does good win in the end and the demons who's names were used for those on the evil side lose? If it were truly inspired by the demonic shouldn't the dark side seem more appealing and shouldn't they win?

I haven't read the books, but Catholic Answers did an article about that claim and why it was not correct, which mainly seems to originate from Fr. Ripperger. Except that Fr. Ripperger's video on the subject was incredibly false and misleading on the subject that I have no choice but to doubt his credibility on the matter (even though I have not read the books and have no intention to). An example of this would be how Fr. Ripperger claimed that a woman said the spells and burned her house down. The full story, as widely reported, was that a mentally ill woman combined flammable ingredients including alcohol on a stovetop while saying the words, and that burned her house down, but Fr. Ripperger left that completely out in his video and I don't know why. The point is more that if his term "the exorcists" is really just code for "Ripperger," CA did a long podcast about his lackluster research on the matter.

The gods of the nations are demons. Should i not then allow my children to read the Odyssey because it references the names of demons? Heck! The Biblical names of Esther and Mordecai are taken from Babylonian divinities.

So interesting! I admit I raised my children with Harry Potter before I became a Catholic and I just took the stories as pure fantasy. When my children and I spoke about Harry Potter, they were less interested in the spells and more interacted in the storylines featuring friendship, loyalty, respect, family, self-sacrifice, hope, and love. I’m more of a LOTR fan too and always preferred those books to all others. God was clearly trying to steer me in the right direction. But it took me a long time to listen and follow him. 🙏
I see what you mean although I was always Catholic I never had things enforced. People that I knew weren't practicing so they wouldn't have known about anything within those books. I read them myself and saw it the same way you described (thankfully) as any other fantasy novel. As I've grown older I've had my reversion and learned so much more including what that woman did with this series. Actual names of spells, actual names of demons, occult refered to as divination, etc. In the words of Fr. Chad Ripperger, she went to witch school. She also has demonic things tattooed and the list just keeps going. It's safe to say that I'm not pleased any longer.
The series may well bring out such hellish correspondences as put forward in the vid evidenced everywhere the place in sigil magik t/o the world ... but there is a focus on the protection against these influences offered by love truth and goodness as an underlying theme of the author.

It is very important that as adults, we develop our discernment, through prayer, observation, natural law, maybe some opinions of people
we respect…there are many ways that we can include to discern if something is good or bad for our lives and most important for our children’s lives, that, at the end of the day, they are completely innocent and under our care and protection…all this I said would be my first option to decide what direction I will follow regarding specific subjects BUT if we want a much easier and faster way to decide if something is good or bad, there is also a way, in these specific times we are living:

I am a 26 year old that has never seen it. Mom never would let us because she said the clips she sae and info she heard never felt right. Thankfully I wasn't interested in it anyhow.
But it was very popular when I was a kid growing, so am not surprised how many problems it is.

Spells are spells. The essence of Harry Potter is not the spells. It is the story itself. Spells are secondary to the story. I love spells-the excitement of them, the wonder, etc. But not the dark incantations, the stuff that is REAL MAGICK, etc., OBVIOUSLY.
If someone wants to get involved in casting spells, they won’t read Harry Potter. They will be reading books that Christopher Lee himself warned us not to read.

Rowling is Christian so this makes sense. The crucifix is the ultimate expression of how we must plunge into darkness. God died on the cross. If you don't realize this, maybe Christianity isn't for you.

There is a channel on UA-cam called "Catholic all year" she is well repected in Catholic circles and she advocates for harry Potter and ive told her of the dangers, and she says she knows plenty of priests and nuns who read Harry Potter and it's okay. I told her this information has come from exorcists and she said they're just fear-mongering. 🤷♀️ I just asked her the other day how did she feel about the last installment of Harry Potter " harry Potter and the cursed child"??? On a sidenote, I was recently watching an Infowars broadcast, and Alex was going off on the Prince of Wales being tied to Dracula and the order of the Dragon...of course, I get a laugh our of his pseudo take on it all. I remember, years ago, our parish priest was enthusiastic to announce free tickets available to watch Harry Potter's movie....😳
The current production on stage at Toronto's Mirvish Theater is "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child". I purposely do not follow Rowling's series, so when I heard that title advertised it was the first time I'd heard it, and it made my skin crawl. It took a little while, but THIS is where THAT was going, eh? Tag line: "Sometimes darkness comes from unexpected places". Indeed.
To address the point made at 1:32, The Lord of the Rings may be a fictional setting, but it's supposed to be a "creation mythology" for Great Britain and Europe as a whole. The events of the trilogy took place in the "Third Age," and Tolkien put his lifetime in the "Fifth Age." So it's a fictional take on our past, whereas Harry Potter is a fictional take on our present. LotR is, by that definition, still in the "real world."
Also...Harry never bargains with a spirit. Aragorn literally makes a deal with an evil, traitorous spirit for military aid against a foreign nation. Just a thought.
I call it nonsense I have nieces and friends that are obsessed with Harry Potter movies they are Christian they never had any demons come into home. I been watching Harry Potter for years this is complete nonsense.
The same thing happens in the music industry. In fact, more so.
LOTR was intended to be a mythic human prehistory. I think the crux of the issue with magic is less the setting and more the nature of magic itself and how it's treated. There is human sacrifice in Tolkien's Silmarillion by a people (The Numenoreans) to Tolkien's equivalent of demons, as well as witchcraft, in a vain attempt to extend their lifespan, but ultimately it leads to their downfall. None of the ceremonies or spells are described. Harry Potter is concerned with the particular details of learning how to cast spells and paints magic as manipulation of reality as morally neutral, which is clearly more problematic. Tolkien deals with magic as manipulation as well through characters like Saruman, Sauron, Morgoth, even the ring, etc, but doesn't glorify it and makes clear that such actions are directed towards destruction and death, even if the goals one is pursuing may be good.

I've read all seven books and seen all eight movies. While I found it to be deeply enjoyable reading, in the end I threw out my Harry Potter collection.
I had come to false conclusions about the magic in the series. I had no clue real spells were used and falsely assumed this was pure fantasy about people with super powers who were not invoking spirits. How naive I was. But even then I had real concerns about the ethics of the characters that Harry looked up to. Now there's no question for me that I cannot go near Harry Potter again knowing what I now know. Bummer because, like I said, it was an enjoyable read with relatable and likable characters.
I completely agree with you. I read it myself and originally enjoyed the series seeing it as the fantasy and "magic" that other books have as well. Therefore not a big deal and I was even confused when I first heard people had issues with this series. Now, it's a big no thank you. I still might have to search my drawers to throw away or burn merch. As I heard that recommended by an exorcist. Being what it is, I wouldn't want to give it or spread it

There are no "demon names" in Harry Potter, the answer is only a Google search away. All characters have normal human names, some maybe a little archaic. Maybe they think Lucius or Draco are demon names? They're not. There is a giant three headed dog called Fluffy.. is that a demon name? Padfoot? Prongs? Really can't think of any.. the giant acromantula Aragog (from lat. arachnis - a class of spiders, since he is a spider obviously)
"Spells" from Harry Potter books don't work, they are all made up. Or do you really think that if you yell Incendio enough times, you really will start a fire? Lol. You won't.

@@wouternieminen844 One of exorcists said to avoid mentioning the real demons' name, as doing so invokes them in reality. That's the reason he would not identify which names were real demons. Actually, if you use a little discernment, you can figure out a few of them easily.
Hmm. You're only interpreting LOTR with Catholic lenses because Tolkien was Catholic. He himself had never said he wrote LOTR in the way CS Lewis wrote the Narnia books. On the contrary, Tolkien had said about how his experiences in the Great War influenced his writing LOTR.
Fantasy is fantasy. The claim that the spells in the Harry Potter books are real spells is nonsense. I can still remember the time when Christians claimed that backward masking was real and that Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven was somehow demonic. You hear what you want to hear. An objective listening to that socalled backward-masked song reveals nothing remotely similar to what some Christians claim they heard.

@@jonsmith2832 this is not the point, not the protagonists, that the culture and way of doing things of the inhabitants of the world of Harry Potter is the same as Satanism. In fact, I remember a scene where Harry talks to the snake and Hermione says that even in the wizarding world, the language of snakes represents evil. I mean, it's like if I wrote a book about hell and created an antagonist like the devil but blue in color and said that he is not the devil, but the sorcerer lord, when he represents him in everything but name.. even the Death Eaters look like Satan's beasts (but dressed in black instead of white)

@@angelalemos9811 I read all 7 books, got them all and enjoyed reading them (until the 5th/6th, I still read them, but didn't like the progression of the story). My devout babcia warned and told me to stay away from them, I didn't listen. After I become stronger in the faith I have had to dispose of the books and films and cd's, it's not easy destroying things, at least not in my experience. It's better without potential openings. The issue my babcia had with it was as soon as she heard it's about witches and wizards, that was enough, it portrays them as something good when traditionally they always were (because they are) evil. It is another chipping away at our civilisation. That is not okay and not good, she was right.
Anyway so that is my issue with them, don't know about what the guy in the video says, conclusion is the same though.

@@angelalemos9811 Well I burnt some of them, but then I felt from the Holy Spirit that it wasn't necessary with these particular items (in my case, so you can pray on it, sometimes people can have cursed objects or individual items that have baggage, those should be burnt) so the remaining I ripped them up and disposed of them in a way they cannot get into the hands of others to corrupt them, as it does promote witchcraft. I destroyed the dvd's and cd's, I could not find the old vhs's sadly, ... destroying items physically is practically very hard, at least in my experience, burning things sounds easy, but when you try it it's not smh. I am a pca who came across a young woman about 19 - 20 years of age . She was very into harry potter and before I met her she tried to hang herself, her mom found her and gave her recessatation and came out of it but, is now incapacitated to a certain extent. Cannot verbalized, she could transit with her eyes and I so wanted to continue to work with her, I thought maybe she had some contact with the other side, maybe meeting Jesus or had some experience there of but unfortunately I was not vacinated and her mom ended our work together. Too bad, she looked at me intently when I was there.

we read the first one in primary school, yr 5 (so around 9 years old, I have no idea what that would be in the US school system).
Taylor: I have read the entire series in order to write a paper highlighting why it should not be read by youth. I have yet to find any demonic names in the books. I found quite a number of real problems, and I did quote Fr. Amorth and others as to why the books should be avoided. But I do not find real spells or demonic names in them. We do not serve the truth by publishing exaggerations or half-truths. It is the truth that should be published and that alone is a worthy calling for any Catholic apologist. More Rosaries for those children whose parents let them read these books.

I don't think there's anything wrong with reading the books or watching the movies. It's all fictional fantasies. It's not a sin to read or watch a fictional fantasy. However, it is a sin when we revolve our life around them. Let is also be known that J. R. R. Tolkien is a devout Catholic as well. When you watch the entire trilogy of the Lord of the Rings, you grasp some hidden messages that symbolizes Christianity and I think it's great that he shows them in there. Peter Jackson also deserves some credit for bringing Tolkien's messages out as well.
The timing of this video is definitely helpful. While I knew Harry Potter books were evil from Fr. Amorth, I had no idea they contained actual spells, which made the series harmfulness make even more sense . The interesting thing is, is that I had gone to a funeral for a friend’s sister the day before this was released and I hadn’t brought my phone with me into the Mass, so it couldn’t listen to what was being said. My friend’s sister had committed suicide, so please, pray for her soul. Apparently they said she had been dealing with depression for 15 years, but the pieces of the puzzle came together for me after this video because they mentioned too many times how she really liked Harry Potter books in the Mass, and the unsolved mystery of why she did ultimately commit suicide seems to be in part due to this interest she had. Pray for her brother to be open to listening to this revelation, when some time has passed , please. God bless you all, always!
I don’t even get the popularity of Harry Potter. I tried to read the first book, but it was just bad, and I couldn’t finish it. I saw the first movie, and it was boring and stupid.

My parents were very vigilant to guard me from this series. They instilled so much discernment in me that when my best friend/next door neighbor started playing one of those movies, I was maybe in middle school and I excused myself and walked home and told my mom. That girl I used to be best friends with, was absolutely obsessed with HP… when we were just kids, she’d pretend to make potions… as a kid I didn’t indulge but thought it was strange but nothing more.. the older I got, the more we began to distance ourselves… as a teenager, she got into paganism and identified as a Wiccan… I vividly remember being at a mall with her one time and she saw some of her other friends there… they sat on the floor of an entryway, in a circle to practice incantations… I couldn’t exactly leave because her mom was my ride home… they invited me to join but I separated myself until her mom showed up.. our friendship ended by the time we finished high school … best friends for nearly a decade…. I still occasionally pray for her… her father and one of her step brothers are gay… and she also came out as gay… heavily involved in Wicca… obsessed with Anime and HP and anything remotely similar. Zero spiritual guidance…. I still love her. She really was my childhood best friend… but I grew up with my parents teaching me scripture and praying over me daily.. she grew up reading and watching HP and became a Wiccan…
I would like to see citations of these spells (many of which the Latin is not grammatically correct) and names (demons). I have heard this from many within this community, but I have yet to find it written down. My wife and two of my daughters have read the books and it has not affected our faith. We explain to the kids, that when they read fiction or fantasy, that it is just that, make believe. Nothing contained therein is real. I myself prefer Tolkien, Dante, and Shakespeare. Even if Harry Potter leads you to possession, something else was already very wrong.

Harry Potter isn’t demonic lmao. It CAN be, should the reader have weak faith or something. It CAN be destructive, if the person doesn’t understand how sinful sorcery/magic is. But demonic? Are you out of your mind? Just because some exorcists said so doesn’t make it true; the only one who knows for certain is God, and you people need to stop putting your faith regarding what’s true or not in human men.
I went to catholic school for 10 years. My priest, nuns, and teachers were devout, hardcore, strict Catholics. Yet they had Harry Potter in the library. And you know what? I’m glad they did. My school was such an amazing foundation into the catholic faith that I could enjoy the story, as middle schooler, of HP while also acknowledging magic is bad, magic is a sin, there is a reason God says to not engage in it, and here’s a perfect example of it (the mess Harry gets involved in). They never censored and hid anything from us. It was like we got to look into the world while also being surrounded by good people who guided us according to God’s Word.
I think a much more apt description of HP would be destructive. It’s arguable that Harry Potter was destructive because it romanticized magic more so than it had been in decades past. Magic became extremely mainstream and lost more of its stigma. But demonic? Come on. Those are huge words for this lol.

Hobbits? You do know that J.R.R. Tolkien was a devout Catholic? The only reason that Harry Potter was vilified by the Church is because J.K. Rowling is not Catholic. If she were Catholic, then the Church would be touting her book series as a masterful work on the battle between good and evil.
Catholics really need to question their faith, or rather, Catholic Tradition. When Christianity became the religion of the Roman Empire under Constantine, the Catholic Church was born. It is not the same church that Jesus instituted. Instead it became a means to control the masses. Anything that opposed that control was forbidden. It is still the same today, which is why Satan has been able to take up residence in the Vatican and to infect the Mystical Body of Christ with its evil. I have seen in manifested in priests while at mass. Not all priests are infected but far too many are.
We have to focus on Jesus Christ, His teachings and the example of His life. Any doctrines or laws that the Church has created since the Council of Nicea are suspect. If you want to follow Roman Catholic Tradition, that is your choice. I choose to follow Jesus Christ.

😂 anyone could predict the ending of Harry Potter even if they have a pea sized brain. The "bad" guy never wins. Although it would be cool in some books perhaps no author would go for it most likely since the fans wouldn't be happy. Plus it ruins the whole good guy against bad and only one can win. That whole setup or trope (however you would like to define it) is the equivalent of watching a Disney movie because you know what the ending will be. Disney obviously uses that technique too
Just a thought on this: did you all know that JK Rowling carried around Tolkien everyday. So much so that ppl were starting to say that she was getting all her material from him. She then stopped carrying them around. I just don’t know. It’s not that I don’t fail to see the connections this author and the exorcists come to about the series, it’s that I think it all comes down to parenting. It’s fantasy writing. Tolkien, Lewis, Chesterton, Belloc, all wrote fantasy yet we’re ok with it because they were catholic or almost catholic.

I read the first four books nearly 20 years ago. Didn't feel there there was anything wrong at the time. Only recently heard there are real spells.
