❤🎉congratulations!! I also ran NYC and it’s kinda good to know that this course super tough for experienced runners like you! It was HARD. But man… what an experience. WOW .. the participants, spectators and volunteers. Soooo amazing. Truly once in a lifetime experience
First really got into your channel watching the Edinburgh vlog. I cried at that one and I had a proper lump in my throat watching this one. For all the laughter and the banter, that look and exchange with Hayden when you first see him at the finish 😢. That’s running for me at it’s absolute best 🥰🥰❤️❤️. Congratulations to you both and thank you for letting us being a part of this rodeo.
Congratulations to both of you 🎉🎉🗽🇺🇲♥️ "Best day of my life." Big and brave, or maybe silly words for a married man but I can wholeheartedly agree 👍 As when I ran the NYC Marathon followed by a totally different Marathon in Uganda just 5 and a half days later it was definitely the best week of my life 🙂 There is nothing on the Marathon circuit quite like that section of the course through Williamsburg where you are like Moses parting the red sea ⛵ as you run through the crowds. Great seeing the pure joy on your faces 😁😁 Brilliant video that stokes up some wonderful memories for me. THANK YOU!! 🙂
Mate I’m so proud of you, you stuck with it and more importantly you didn’t push it and respected the course.. Thank you for your support xx love you mate xx
Not going to lie, felt emotional watching that. Amazing achievement. I bet your girls are all so proud of you. Well done. Lovely dedication to Big Fletch at the end too ❤
Well done Chris and congrats to Heyden, what a day, such a tough course, definitely most difficult have done thrilled to pb faster than Berlin, and 13th age group happy days. Well done again guys
Congratulations Chris! I ran the NYC marathon too and thought it was brilliant - from the canon at the start with Frank Sinatra singing "New York, New York" to the crowds. The noise in Brooklyn was deafening and overall atmosphere (dare I say it) might have been better than London. Yes, the bridges were long slow hills but when you got to the top it was much easier going down the other side. Hats off to the organisers - they did a great job with the expo, start, aid stations and finish. Also NYPD were out in force and I've never seen so many police. So glad you enjoyed it. What an experience!
Well done - glad you enjoyed your tour around the Big Apple - if you’ve not yet done it I can really recommend the Rome Marathon and the Barcelona course is pretty interesting too! You mentioned how tough the NY course is but the strange thing is I ran my 2:57:48 Marathon PB at the Isle of Thanet Marathon back in the day (1986) when the final 7/8 miles of the course was along the coast from Pegwell Bay to Margate via Ramsgate and Broadstairs - hill after hill after hill! The best I ever managed in a big city event was 3:06:01 in London (1993) - not as busy as it is nowadays but still hard to run at your own pace - think that one finished on Westminster Bridge.
Rome is definitely a beast of a course - hills, cobble stones and potential hot weather. I was a fool and ran it in racing flats too (my 13th Marathon in 16 months after doing a 12 in 12). Took me over 2 years to recover from an injury that I got through the back of that little run. Rome is a brilliant race though 👍 good crowds and just one amazing sight seeing journey. An incredible event but I still say that is the toughest City course that I have ever run.
Yeah Fordy!!! Smashed it and good vibes all round. Loved it 😊 well done, mate. And so stoked to have finally met you. Let’s not leave it so long next time, yeah? 😂
Massive congratulations Chris 👏🏻👏🏻 watching all of your videos has inspired me to sign up to my first ever Marathon in 2024. I've run many half marathons but never a proper marathon. Tried to get into London but didn't get in, so I've decided to run Manchester in April, excited and nervous at the same time about it. So thank you for all your videos, keep it up 👍🏻😁
Brilliant recap. Congratulations on an awesome run. So good to see an 'ordinary'* runner have a great day out - walking the hills like a normal person. Loved every minute of this. *obvs nothing ordinary about running a marathon, but you know what I mean!!
It was a pleasure walk/running with you from 18😂, defintiely helped power me through a tough race. but like you said we were gonna make it to the finish regardless! Keep up the amazing content Fordy!
Well done Chris, I also ran New York the crowd support is amazing I want to run it again next year, looks like you had an awesome day, saw the event for believe in the run on Saturday but went and ran park run instead in New Jersey
A great watch, really good video. I did the NY Marathan last year and agree it's the toughest and best. The crowd was immense and watching this helped bring back some great memories 👍

@@MarkSmith_Best-Athletics chengdu. 🤷♂️ No, me neither! 😂 From comments by Tim Hutching about Sydney, the current course is totally unsuitable for 40k runners! The last part of the course by the opera house is narrower than the South Bank. People will be squashed together!
@@rych7852 I also think that Sydney will face further issues with running separate events on the same day (Half Marathon, 10k or whatever it has). If it is to stand a chance of becoming a Major then Sydney must show that it can stand alone and run the event as a successful Marathon only. I think that the Cape Town Marathon would have to do the same although not heard any news about them having to make alterations to the course there. It is a shame that Sydney may not have the harbour and Opera House Finish if it does get the go ahead to become a Major.
Chris, I'm so pleased you got to experience this. You are an inspiration. I ran my first marathon at London this year, and your podcasts kept me sane through training. Went to New York for a break in November a few years ago and just remember how cold and windy it was. So, well done. A 6am run around the Central Park 10k is pretty special with the sun rising around you. Maybe one for your bucket list?
