Any ideas on how to install a new track and rubber piece? Ice froze the window shut and someone popped it off the track. Now the window is free floating in the door.
Learn something new everyday. Never thought of using rag to take clip out. Been long time since I needed to do that l think I have a tool somewhere in my toolbox to do that?
Dang just sold a passenger side glass yesterday it was for my 87 would have worked for y’all and I live in Nanaimo could have swung out to your place in a couple mins hahaha
They have a chemical that etched glass at Hobby stores, use this on areas that go into channel on bottom of glass, epoxy it in the channel, the etching will create a better bond eh 🎅
I believe all the mounting holes are there, so you'd just have to delete the motor and such. Probably easiest to find a rusted out door and swap everything over.
I tried many different adhesives and rubbers. The only thing I didn't try was windshield adhesive, but it was $50 a tube and took $24 hrs to dry. Window was $10.
@@ToyotaWorldRunners I’ll try check the one junkyard on island, otherwise there’s new ones on eBay and Amazon though they look they bolt on rather sit in with the rubber
anyone got any tips for how to replace the glass in a rear door of a 1990 hilux?? Can't find any videos on how to do this, and can't get the glass inside the door from any angle.
Actually problem is window off track. Don't want to buy what already have . This video skipped the( as he called it ) "bitch" part. Common 80s Toyota problem.Had hoped for how to put window back in track.
You will have to buy windshield glue, I tried many other types of glues and methods before making this video about replacing the window. Gorilla glue, various commercial glass glues combined with different types of rubber to get the glass to stay in the metal track. All lasted a couple days then fell a part again. This is the best solution I found. Windshield glue: $50-80 New window with factory track still together: $10 from pick-a-part/auto wrecker.
Great tutorial, made me realize I can't fix my window and just need a new one (came off the track).
You're right, everyone does love old Toyotas
Gotta like the little things ,like having a window.
Now I know.(have an 86' that I love more than my wife).
Thank you, nice work.
Thank you. Aweomse tutorial. I was able to replace my window in under 30 minutes!
A window that is 35 years old (based on your publish date) that finally failed? And you want to call it a shitty window? LOLOLOL! Thx for the vid! ;)

Is it easy to switch from power windows to manual? Door panel looks the same. Just need to find the manual mechanism.

in our 88 little toyote pickup the glass fell down into the door so i’ll probably use this video to fix it
Damn I was hoping I could just put it back. On mine the rubber is totally separated

You do realize the whole where the second 10 mil is that's where you're supposed to take the 10 mil out from right? That's why that hole is there
Yeah, I should have mentioned that - I didn't have an extension with me!
