i love how he is almost playing alice in chains songs every time but just changing the rythem a little or not releasing the pattern
It’s a shame that they are discontinued. I emailed them and they said that they are releasing it again in late 2022 with some upgrades
Really? Nice.
@@bushcry1 yeah I'm hyped but it is a long time to wait tho
when exactly
@@lmcguigan9910 they just said late 2022
@@ryaneastwood6561 A regular rampage or another signature one?
it's refreshing in a way to see an artist who uses a guitar with inly one pickup instead of overly complicated multi pickup guitars with complex wiring etc.
A guy brought one of these to the Alice in Chains concert I went to last Saturday and he got the band to sign it. Lucky bastard
Did that happen to be in Los Angeles 2010?
Awesome fun guitar. I don't understand why these don't get made nowadays.
i've had this guitar for over a year, out of 3 prs's 1 lp and 1 strat this is my go to...period, flawless
This is one of my must have guitars. Unfortunately there isn't many G&L's in Australia
Backed, a USA one popped up on Gumtree about 18 months ago but it sold before I could get the cash together.
I believe Jack's Music in OZ are a G&L featured store and always have models in stock - find them on FB.
@@Moveplaylift Thanks for that mate !
I'll check em out ..
@@scottyd2262 did you find one?
@@ryaneastwood6561 Unfortunately l had to spend lots of $$ on cars that l have just after that comment. So l didn't get around to it... sigh... :-(
I'll try to do it when all of this smoke clears(so to speak) AIC are in my top 5 bands of all time. Do you have one ???
I miss this old videos allways chill to watch them!
Paul. this is the best review you've ever done.
That’s the best rendition of man in the box I’ve heard
Holy shit...I absolutely love Jerry's original guitar, but I never actually knew what He played, really cool that they actually made an artist series out of this.
Also pretty funny how Riario is wearing a flannel button down in this review...
trying so hard not to play Alice in Chains riffs haha
Paul doesn't get enough credit.
Imagine being put on the spot with a signature guitar and being told, "Yeah, you can play anything BUT the actual riffs. Oh and try not to make people hate on you. GL."
Well he did play the intro to It Ain't Like That at the beginning of the video
Keesen Gripp almost
Wow...what a nice, big sound! Incredible tone.
the necks on these guitars feel phenomenal!!
I keep coming back to here that clean tone
And I’m back
That is a great sounding guitar. No two ways about it. The cleans were really full and pretty too.
wow, sounds much better than i thought it would.sounds great.
I got this some years back, but the guy fitted a DeMarcio Super dist in it but I got the original Jerry C pup with the guitar. It is awesome to play, sounds wicked and looks killer. Only thing is that it is a paint to set up after changing the strings :-)
This sounds really good I like it.
Absolutely these play as good as they look, and they sound fantastic, like a guitar shaped sledgehammer!
This guitar is manufactured in Indonesia and it's around 600 bucks. There's a US version, but that things' nearly 2000 bucks, i think...
Thing is, it depends on the company and how they run things. For ex. Yamaha's high-end instrument factory that makes a lot of the signature models is in China, but the quality control there is superb and the workers there are all highly skilled craftsmen
Ihave a very old Rampage. No Cantrell signature model. Great guitar. Mine had a Dimarzio Super Distortion pup. Wonderful balance. A dream to play.
That guitar sounds fuckin killer clean and distortion tones. I love the tones from that custom wound pickup. Overall an awesome guitar. Hope lots of people get it.
Just got one finally. Great guitar
Sounds really good love to have one
I'm looking to pick up one of these next month.
sounds great...what are you pumping it through?
Paul has tiny hands, me too. \o/ Thumbs Up for tiny handed guitar players!
Beautiful guitar.
that guitar looks like a lot of fun, id buy one just to play around.
It has a very interesting clean tone, I can’t quite describe it
Danny Aghdam It's like if a filtertron had sex with a noiseless single coil.
That single pickup really does make it seem much clearer
Ya Pauls wardrobe and that set look go w the whole 90s MTV countdown grunge vibe. Pretty appropriate for the context of the review.
God i love and will always play G&L. I'm a bass guy though. But G&L is as good as it gets.
2:28 thats actually a pretty cool riff
Michael J Fox playing guitar???
His tapping is incredible.
Ive got one......Ill tell you its a blast to play sounds amazing G&L is top notch I will never own another fender I dont care where its made you have to customize them just to get close to the quality of a stock G&L
@anoshinyamo so if since he only has the rear pickup and wants a warm sound would he get the off hes amp settings instead of his guitar? thanks for the help
Awesome tone..Damn
Im getting this or the Squier J5 my two picks this far it will be my first guitar any recommendations? (I have played bass for about 6 years)
Musicians Friend has these for $599, free UPS shipping included.
Played one at Guitar center yesterday, neck is thin, maybe not Ibanez thin. Felt like a Fender American strat with the C neck shaved thinner (which to me was always Fender's thinnest to begin with).
Hung out for about 3+ hours there and the winner on the day for playability was the Ibanez Prestige, chords felt like they were being played half by guitar half by me, you know what I mean. Looks like I'm saving up for a Prestige!
@Alexnchains16 This is the tribute model in the video. The USA Rampage comes with a Seymour Duncan JB humbucker and a Kahler 2320 brass tremelo
because he is a beast at playing guitar !
yeah, iam confused also, is this the tribute model or the more expensive one?
Yea you can. It's available in ivory and black on the musicians friend website.
I NEED that sound - what is in the signal chain? amp? settings? please, have mercy and clue me (us) in!
@tommW13 I believe this setup is saying that simply Jerry almost never uses other than rear pickup and volume knob throughout his play.
Having less circuit in guitar contributes to wider range, especially in high end. It helps to prevent the tone to get muddy, and to cut through clearer in band sound. And the more mass and weight the body has the sound become fatter and heavier.
Also maybe looking different, or by having only 1 pickup, makes cool sometimes, too.=)
@tommW13 I guess it depends on songs. My memory is so long time ago so not that certain, but I believe he uses Crybaby wah pedal through Bogner amp, and sometimes Gibson LesPaul. Probably leave wah pedal closed some way to curve the tone like tone knob, and uses LesPaul for fatter or warmer sound. Bogner Fish preamp, which he uses, has got only 3 channel and he is not so effector-guy either, so it seems he makes various tone mostly by picking through that simple equipment.
how is the tuning with the Kahler 4300 X-Trem tremolo ?
I cant beleieve how that guitar stays in tune after Dive bombing the hell out of it
holy shit nice tone too!! so want this bad!
@danielhl22 I think your talking about the tribute version. The USA is 2000 new.
Its got a nice snar sound!!!
Good point. I just wouldn't want one because I am not a big fan of using the extra bright bridge pickup all the time. But come to think of it, I guess more pickups would change the tone.
You can get this guitar also in black, right?
@dorillo765 I have a bit bigger hands and been playing for 18 years but they play much, much better. I respect Paul and those who give extra effort for smaller hands. Thumbs Up!
So does this guitar always sound distorted or does it sound clean too?
my friend had a strat so since he couldnt do a killswitch effect he put the middle pickup closer to the body, almost inside the guitar and so you couldn't hear it, so now even though he cant use his middle pickup he has a killswitch.
cool guitar
Throw in a Duncan JB and you have Jerry's actual set up but the pickup in here does seem very nice
I'm feelin outshined right now.
@Wolfosteology I'm pretty sure that was Creep by Stone Temple Pilots.
I just got the USA model used for 800 bucks what a steal!!
dude thats kickass where can I get one?
thanks dude
@JgHaverty In my view a khaler kinda sits between a fixed bridge and a floyd rose tremolo. Perhaps some guitar players like that kind of idea.
Nice!
Thank you Paul for showing off this guitar even though you obviously hated playing grunge! haha
Would've been incredibly helpful to see if you are running this through pedals, what amp, settings, etc.......
Try, "sounds like" Andertons tv.
They have a great AIC rig.
Hey Paul, how much for some lessons??? Please!
@anoshinyamo true,he uses the guitar with the marylin monore pic alot for most of his songs, except for check my brain but theres probs more.He also uses allot of amp and pre amp combos like mesa and bogner ect,he uses alot of wah and the roto vibe and other stuff but as someone once said ''make it simple stupid.thanks for the help
does anyone know wat kinda amp he uses in these guitar reviews?
which distortion is this?
lovely guitar but make sure this ones lives in Eb standard forever (if you like AIC), what a pain to adjust that locking trem
what pedals is he using???
i want this fucking guitar.
Alexi Laiho and Roope Latvala appear to make due with only the bridge. If your pickup is good enough, you don't need to. I.E. the emg 81.
Where can i buy this?
Just remember G&L actually made very good cheap guitars like this one of course the USA model is better but this version is amazing! and friend of mine who has a small Randall KirkHamet combo makes that guitar sound like a monster
Is the the $600 on or the $1700 one?
in the very begining, it just ounds very familiar... can anyone tell me what is ounds like caue its eating at me
Yea Schlagdog, I understand they wanted a replica, but for the money you don't get much. The Tributes are 600 bucks and the American mades over 1000. I just don't see why they don't at least offer the guitar with a neck pickup too. I don't think an extra pickup would change the sound that much.
Plus you made a good point - they tried to make an exact copy (which means they target the Chains fans) but failed to put the original pickup in it.
@dorillo765 Helll yeah, makes the guitar feel bigger, more to love! ;-)
ive never heard of a shadow killpot, it sounds cool explain
@Blargaha Yeah, also the other Custom guitar rampage has a JB in it so i guess that was the point =D
Paul has the best job
kahler actually stays in tune better than a floyd in my opinion but has vaery different feel, alot of ppl dont like the feel of a kahler, its better to palm mute with and is a low profile, but most ppl prefer the more muscular resistance of a floyd but you can get a kahler to stiffen up
@yungbubbabush Ahh, it's the same magnet in it, and probably a similar wind. I'd be more surprised if it didn't sound like a JB, sounds awesome.
Ah, the video is much better, now! Good call, Chuckles.
Jerry cantrell is the guy.
Important to know what amp is using, I don't believe that with only that guitar and the JB, you can achieve that tone...
How wide is the nut? Heard it's pretty wide. How does it feel?
Not sure how wide the nutnis but it’s a pretty thin neck, very flat but not super thin like an ibanez if you know what i mean
I want this as my first guitar... Do they make it for left handers?
I actually got one of those as my first guitar. Not the USA one though. They do not make a lefty.
Jason Weirauch does the tribute one sound and feel good as the USA one?
I love my tribute. I put in a Motorcity Pickups Afwayu and it has the tone I was looking for. Honestly though, I don't even want to try a USA one because I am so happy with mine. I fear I will try a USA and like it so much I'll have to save up to buy one. I cant see how it could be worth that much more money to me. I am content to live in ignorance.
Not Very Good For Your FIRST Guitar.
If You Want A FIRST Guitar , Try A Fender Or Gibson.
Then Buy This lol
***** I'm a lefty so it doesn't matter. I really wanted it though..
small hands are about 6"?
That sounds fuckin sick
@theonetheycallderek
That's more or less what I was saying, but since someone noticed the shirt, I thought he might as well know that it's the wrong one.
Does the Rampage have a big neck or is it Paul's hands are tiny?
+Fuzz Cous The Neck is a a thin C. Its very comfy :)
+commercialking Thanks.
What amp here?????
My most expensive guitar is an Ibanez 7
String that I was able to get for $399 using a 20% coupon.
How? Besides one pickup they are completely different
@syclone1931 you sure sound like you work for kahler lol jk, ive been coming to realize how often i dont use my whammy bar so ill probably start using guitars with TOM style bridges or some type of hard tail bridge... thanks for the info though
the rampage is an 80's guitar. This is a reissue signature.
