Anxiety tells you to stay small and hidden in order to keep you safe.
But is stopping yourself from stepping more fully into your life by trying something new, putting yourself out there, going for what you really want, working toward a goal really keeping you safe? If you want to grow, if you want a full life, you have to be willing to stretch. But anxiety tries to convince you that this is not safe. BUT So often the things we are afraid of are not a threat to our safety - they are a threat to our ego. This goes pack to our primitive brain that did experience social rejection as a threat to our safety. In this talk I teach you how fear tries to control your life by keeping you small, and which questions to ask yourself to start living on the other side of fear- and more fully and freely.

I once read somewhere that you could ask yourself what will go wrong, but you can just as easily ask what could go right.

It may seem simple, but it's enough to change a life. It never dawned on me that I can actually start asking myself other questions. I'll make sure to try it next time I feel anxious about something. Thank you, Julia, you're the best!

This helps me a lot. I work at a job where there are a lot of different complex duties, so go to work nervous anxious and with a "get this over with mentally " the manager has no patience to train that doesn't help.

Seemingly small matters in life can change everything and cause serious harm. One single sentence misunderstood by a middle manager at a company party got me fired, forced me to sell my home and cancel the contract of my art studio. What I said was about myself (as a light self-reflective joke), but the middle manager thought it was about him, something I understood many years later. (I was very well-liked and popular at the company, none of the co-workers understood anything, they even wanted to organize a farewell party for me.)

If I wouldnt allow fear to be dictating my decisions, one of the things is, I would be braver in putting myself out there, my opinions, convictions about things. Thank so much Julia! :)

I will be working in a new job doing what I like; working with plants. I sometimes worry if I will be successful or if an anxiety will flare up during work. However, I can remind myself what I am doing is not dangerous. Additionally, another good question to ask is "what can I overcome?"

I unfortunately had a therapist who created anxiety and fear in our private and confidential conversations. It wasn't until I met an amazing therapist who helped me through it. No, anxiety and fear don't get the final say, and neither did she.

Julia, thank you so much. It’s so nice to see you.😊 actually, I was just in the backyard with my dog ginger and I was thinking about fear. I have never been ran or felt like I was overrun with fear. But I have this continual fear popping up and it’s creating anxiety for me. I am diagnosed ““ with anxiety disorder, and I’ve been worried about my beautiful dog ginger physical health/ Ginger has a severe eating disorder. She is from a puppy mill And I was thinking why haven’t I taken her into the vet yet? and I thought about It’s fear that she would somehow be unwell. Thank you for this topic Juliet so lovely to see you. Have a lovely day.🥰🦌 I am so proud to be an alumni and a shifter🙏🏽❤️🦌

Why is anxiety and fear always talked about in regards to taking on a challenge? While important to tackle tough situations they aren't the only ones that breed fear. What do we with anxiety that is from the fear during the time waiting for a diagnosis or just after hearing about one?

How about the fear of being rejected when trying to approach someone for a date? Wouldn't that put a dent in a person's self-esteem, and discourage him or her from making new attempts?

There are many resources you can utilize. Julia has many videos on anxiety you can use as a start. There are also books and articles on fear too. Seeing a doctor to be prescribed anxiety medications and meeting with a therapist is helpful as well.
