    It is really cool to see someone, particularly a seasoned vet of simming try it in VR for the first time. Their reactions are priceless. I think most if not all of us who are VR enthusiast can totally relate in that "awe factor". It brings a smile to my face when I see that in someone who tries it for the first time.😊😊

      It feels like PCVR is in a bit of a renaissance right now.
      Valve is rumored to be working on a Index 2. BigScreen is rumored to be working on a Beyond 2. The Crystal Light has brought high quality PCVR to an affordable price. Pimax is working on a G60 airlink to provide the bandwidth and latency of DisplayPort over a wireless connection. Things are looking good.

    VR is an amazing experience and is so immersive, I'm glad you mentioned the graphics though. For me there are 2 issues I cant fix and wish you all the luck entering the deep rabbit hole you're about to discover, one is the shimmering on safety fences and the other is the lack of detail in distant objects. I think its the limitations of the Quest 3 , but would so interested to see what you come up. Some people say Virtual desktop works better but I spent so much time tinkering I gave up for now.

  • @nativerezmedia
    @nativerezmedia 4 місяці тому +2

    Setup is key to enjoy VR on the quest 3. I run mine wired using OpenXR... I limit my quest to 80fps because when using the quest that's a great balance between graphic fadelity and frames. You will want to use 800+ bitrate mode using the debug tool or oculus tray tool. Also, disable ASW mode if you run a decent computer 4070+ you shouldn't need it.

    • @LDFR
      @LDFR  4 місяці тому

      I went for similar settings as this in my following races and it looked really good!

    • @nativerezmedia
      @nativerezmedia 4 місяці тому

      @@LDFR yeah, it takes a little time to get the settings maximized for your gpu/cpu combo. Just think of it with the quest 3 as squeezing as much information through the pipe as you can (the pipe thickness is the bitrate you set). You can only get soo much through it at one time so you have to balance the framerate with quality... Go too hard on one ie: 120hz, and you'll lose some graphic fadelity. Go too high on the graphics IE: super sampling too high, or trying to push more pixels than the quest can handle, your frame rate will have to be turned down. That's why 80fps is a good setting because you can turn the graphics up a bit and it will still feel smooth.

    The graphics will definitely be less sharp than with a monitor, but I noticed at the beginning of the video you had glasses on. If your prescription is for distance, that could be your problem because in VR your view is set in the distance. Try it with your glasses on and see if that helps, if so, your best bet would be a set of prescription lenses for the Quest. I get mine from VR Wave, they're fantastic.
    You'll have to play around with the settings to find the best balance between graphics and framerate. 72 hz doesn't bother me, so I set Virtual Desktop to 72 hz and crank the graphics to ultra and use the h.264+ codec and run it at 500 mpbs. Also make sure you have the snapdragon superscaling checked in the streaming options in Virtual Desktop. Good luck!

      @@azharhirani The 4070 ti super does the job and even does it to a good standard. I run high-ish settings and get 90fps in VR on iRacing - you can see what the experience is like in my most recent uploads. That said, you can never have enough GPU for VR. Go as high as you can afford, but don't go below 4070 ti super is my recommendation mate.

    Nice video! Based on my experience (2 years) after you try VR simracing in 2d its no more a option. With the current hardware (4080/4090) and some thickening you can really make it look better than the monitor . Welcome to VR buddy! When you say the graphics are not good enough, I wonder if you mean the resolution. Obviously, iRacing doesn't have the best graphics. Maybe make sure the resolution is as high as yiur system can handle. You can look in the iRacing settings and make sure the resolution is higher and also in the settings of Virtual Desktop. If you want the best looking and performing sim in VR, you have to try Automobilista 2. The physics are decent, but the graphics and performance is out of this world in VR.

      After using it I’d say it’s about 30% not 10% with a good setup on a simulator.. The only time VR comes to play is breaking zones and apexes. Otherwise it’s pretty flat if you not count the interiors. The trouble with pcvr is the setup process and things gong tits up often without touching a single setting. Pcvr feels like an alpha not even a beta project overall. I love playing games but since purchasing quest 3 I often skip it completely because of the hassle and lottery associated with it. Hell I’ve not even finished HL:A the very reason I got the quest in the first place.
