Episode 4 has Leatherworking for Tanning Hides but Episode 5 hasn't come out yet, which will give us a new Profession for turning those Hides into Armors and such.
"breadth" comes from the word "broad", he's saying that the barrier to entry for each episode is intentionally quite low as to encourage player freedom and horizontal progression (levelling multiple skills for less time as opposed to, for example, going from 1-99 in fishing before doing anything else)
@@FringePatriotGaming no no, they're synonymous words for sure, just one fits better in this circumstance, that's all. the word "broad" tends to refer to things in a more coneptual, metaphysical way- it tends to be paired with depth when used in speech, and you wouldnt describe a quarterback as broad and deep, right? they're tall and wide. it's a discussion about scope in development, so the term "broad scope" would be more appropriate than "wide scope" linguistically. like say you said something like "all fruits are sweet" you would likely say this was a broad generalisation not a wide one. you get the point anyways lmao
Happy to hear about the changes. Really hope they make cooking useful beyond just for money. We need more arrows for those who like range. And at least basic magic. We cant just have 10 episodes of all melee.
I believe a lot of the confusion came from rumors and OSRS fans expecting OSRS mechanics. That seems like a consistent problem at this point. I love OSRS, but this game is Brighter Shores 😮 And yes, the game is less than a week old, why did some people think they were gonna get a massive game with a hundred elaborate quests. Did we forget how simple RuneScape was in 2001?
it mainly need more questing. People are mad about the reset because to get up it's mainly grinding the same spot that change names rather that some fun new quests every 5 lv of grind that would make the process fun and people focus on something else. Also it need more ways to interact with people, like trading for set prices ( to not break eco), or split tasks for cooking bounty.
Width is acualy the most accurate word to describe what andrew is saying. Breadth is used more to describe having a whole lot of something. Like "i have a breadth of knowledge about sports".
Is there a transmog system in the game? I feel like that would help preserve the feeling of progression in the sense that you can keep the look of your gear from a certain chapter without affecting stats.
Let's face it the games designed to max in every area of the game and its clever in the way its intertwined them. Personally I'm holding back on episode 2 until I know more about it for now I want base 100s. Then go from there l, if you look into things like alchemy for example you master that you're instantly saving time with the boosting for pretty much all skills.
I think it would behoove people to look at the Professions more like this: In OSRS, not every Skill is relevant everywhere. You're not Runecrafting within the walls of Varrock. So, within Varrock, having a 99 RC is the equivalent of having 0 RC. What Gower is doing is recognizing this in an explicit format. Professions only exist where they are relevant. I think if people (particularly us OSRS players) thought about the Professions more like curated skilling areas, it would be less of a culture shock. However... Combat shouldn't work this way. I don't think you can rationalize that. My concerns: • Combat/gear progression should be streamlined • Is this mechanic sustainable long term? I'll most likely lose interest if my "Hopeport Foraging" is 100, but I go to an Episode 7 area, and now I have to train "New Place Foraging" from 0. Albeit... it is a bit brilliant, in a way. If new areas always offer new Profession resources... I could see them getting away with "New Place Foraging"... hmm.
andrew can do whatever he wants I'll play this game no matter what until leagues 5 comes out, then ill quit no matter what. the game is good enough until then, but im not hooked to it the same way with OSRS
I think it would nice if the various combat levels provided a perk to each of the others -- similar to Paragon levels in Diablo. Say you have 50 guard levels when you go to episode 2, you might deal extra damage as a scout, due to your previous experience as a guard. Just something to think about!
I dont understand why people arent reading through the skill guides. I found out immediately how interconnected the skills were just by reading through alchemy and seeing +5% Xp for the Forest and Mines.
I still feel like Combat professions are getting the short end of the stick, even if they do add bosses that intermingle them. I'm broke af and i can't afford the subscription, so i made it my goal to be the first to get level 500 Guard in episode 1. Even if they add the boss mechanic mentioned in order to get the max efficiency of my grind in episode 1 it would mean to also get level 500 Scout in episode 2. Which would be an insane level of grinding.
Yeah needing a new set of the same gear for each episode is why I quit. It makes no sense from a combat point of view... This sword doesn't do sword things beyond this wall...? There's a magic barrier that renders all our gear useless, so go get another set for this zone so we can artificially make you grind more for nothing. I'm game for higher tier items, but me needing a episode 1,2,3,4 sword, shield, armor etc is just a pain in the .. And making a sword in blacksmithing in episode 3... That sword is locked to episode 3, how do I make swords for episode 1,2 and 4?? wtf is this
I do not agree with all of this. A reset is never an answer and professions you should ALWAYS have the option to opt in or out of. it should never be mandatory to progress story.
mah as an early rs3player that played the game way too long im kinda disepointed we cant just explore the game and figure it out like we did back then. People think somthing and give up on it not understanding whats going on. It has soma magic to it. But hey gamers these days like to be hold a hand wile playing I gues.
Im sorry. But when the different combat professions work exactly the same. And gathering is pretty much the same as foraging. You have a bad system. Justfifying this because a fraction of the playerbase might progress too quickly and be overleveled by the time new episodes arrive just leaves me scared. He is tailoring the game for a fraction of the player base. He has been doing some great qol updates though, but i dont know if the foundation is there. I also fear for the economy of the game. If there will even be an economy at all. Everything feels on rails. How will p2p trade work in a world where everything is sold and bought by vendors?
I'm play in a bit as long it isn't bad as cube world difficulty cause once you get a in area (border of the map) you pretty got to start over unless you have bound (attuned?) gear. O_O
that is 100 percent the best way to approch this game. because look at rs classic like you said lmao rs2 is a different game. Andrew like to fix and change things and im ready to see what hes been cooking with this homies. the game works imo works good gonna be cool to see the economy
Episode 4 has Leatherworking for Tanning Hides but Episode 5 hasn't come out yet, which will give us a new Profession for turning those Hides into Armors and such.
Nice. It seems that the episodes Professions are much more intertwined than I originally thought
@@FringePatriotGaming Its nice to see someone admit they were wrong. Alot of content creators shy away from that pretty often.
i tried it and the combat is boring af, just autoattack

So it's not a British term? Or is that an explanation as to why they don't say width? They seem similar enough XD

im well into episode 3 and i can assure people the skills are very much intertwined. like massively. i dont have an issue with how its structured.

@@JeffTyler-i7t expecially since the class's are geared towards specific thing hammer mage is mage sentinal in ranger and the other is melee
Yeah 100% some sort of buff from certain foods would be a good addition to that skill

Yeah expectations were in the wrong spot I agree
I told people that and they raged harder asking me if it was early 2000s.... completely missing the point again
These people complaining havent even played runescape. Just osrs on runelite.
So true

Quests are gross
Bruh didn't know the word "breadth" 💀

@RyanCross-ce1li I'm going to start game today. Any first timer tips?
you know you unlock an additional banking feature in act2 right? saves a lot of running to bank materials, no matter which zone you're in

I really enjoyed episode 1.
Episode 2 (new skills) understandable.
But gear reset (chapter locked) was the reason why i quit.
I really think you should jump back in yeah it feels bad but after a few drops you forget about it.
I dont understand why people arent reading through the skill guides. I found out immediately how interconnected the skills were just by reading through alchemy and seeing +5% Xp for the Forest and Mines.
because if you F2P, then it sucks. so most ppl wont get to the part and will drop the game instead of paying monthly fee to see if it is good
