You could 100% check controller firmware at tournaments. All you need to do is regulate which versions of firmware are allowed at the tournament for each controller type (OEM/Phob/Frame1/B0XX/Goomwave) and have a script that runs on a laptop(s) for check-in's to validate the firmware/code. If your firmware is out of date, or it detects unregulated code, they can ask if you'd like to update your firmware or leave lol.
And no custom controllers ever unless it gets popular enough to start being in that list which it never will because nobody can use them in tournaments?

That said, the nerf that prevents the peach ledgedash is something you can tweak in DIY firmware, and has been done on some Arduino based controllers. As far as I am aware, this tweak has not yet been performed at scale for pico based controers, but there is nothing explicitly preventing people from performing this tweak.

I think it's a ridiculous opinion, but that's where a ton of people stand on the issue. They literally think that tap jump toggle, z-jump, and tilt-stick are features that will break the game, even though PM/P+ and Ultimate have all of that and it's fine.

great video. I hate so much how this game has become so geared toward pay to win. Ive been stuck with shitty OEM's my whole melee career and truly feel its holding me back. My current modded OEM controller which I paid $300 for from a known modder and waited months for still has multiple problems and can hardly waveshine or wavedash to the left. Half the time my uptilts don't register, or other moves just don't register then I get punished for it and just die and get taunted in slippi like they think they actually did something lol. I'm super tempted to try out the new phobs with the magnets because sadly when all the super committed players have perfect controllers and mods it makes playing them even harder with a shitty controller. Anyone have any recommendations on best places or person to buy a phob from? and if they have one or if its worth it?
As a B0XX user, I agree with it being goated except for the software it uses. F1 out the box has better angles than the B0XX and does not lock you out of inputs so it makes it harder to mash out. And testing this out, it is true and sucks lmao the only workaround it is to flash the Crane software to remove the changes and keep F1 and B0XX at an even playing field Also, Sanwa casings with Gateron switches sound and feel WAY better than the caps that are used on the F1 lmao
