Great video I know one thing for a fact after owning dozens and dozens of boats and rebuilding boats all the extra stitching is a terrible idea for a boat that’s actually used a lot like tournament ski boats seems always start coming apart.

@@oldschoolautoupholstery Great honest answer. “I always give the customer what they want” I think it’s safe to say the average boat guy or gal goes for the (look). 🤷🏻♂️

Richard I have another question please. On your bobbin: Did you use the same heavy duty thread size bobbin as you used on top, or did you use your regular size black bobbin with the heavy duty top thread? Thanks!

Richard, Time for my dumb question lol. On the big separation, where you sewed stitches down the middle before cutting and separating the backrest from the seat bottom . (I couldn’t see clearly enough). Did you leave a very small strip in between the sewing seams for the separation cut? I assume you did. . . Thanks Phillip Hall
Well, never mind on this one. I slowed the video down to 25 percent speed and zoomed all the way in on the cut and seen that you did cut in between. Thumbs up on the. GREAT video! Phillip
I have a 1973 Javelin and all my plastic is faded amd crumbling. Replacement parts are ridiculously high! How can I redo my car without using the stock plastic?

@@oldschoolautoupholstery I haven’t tried it nor have the equipment. But I hear the 3-D printers can good for duplicating some plastic stuff. Phillip Hall
Double Diamond looks refresing and more modern but will work with many street rods and customs. You won't see it at Pebble Beach but who cares? I knew you could do it. How about large scissors to cut thick foam? Seems like it would work and be less labor (not that moving is bad and it is actually good) . Yes, a cheap hacksaw blade will last a lifetime for foam and cost a lot less than large scissors. Scissors leave no noticeable remnants.

Hello User, Howdy neighbor! I will be closed the month of November to move to my new location in Indian Springs. It's always a good idea to call ahead before you come by as I am spending a lot of time working on the new building. My number is on my website. Great video I know one thing for a fact after owning dozens and dozens of boats and rebuilding boats all the extra stitching is a terrible idea for a boat that’s actually used a lot like tournament ski boats seems always start coming apart.
Hello User, I usually advise my customer against stitching on boat seats. I have converted many boats to smooth and plain seat covers with minimal stitching. But I always give my customers what they want. Please keep liking and watching!

Great honest answer. “I always give the customer what they want” I think it’s safe to say the average boat guy or gal goes for the (look). 🤷🏻♂️
@@PhillipHall01 Hello Phillip, Yep, the customer usually has a good idea of what they want. Like I always say, if you got the money, I got the time! Hehe. Please keep liking and watching!
A question about cutting.
Them pizzacutter blades, are they something worthy to have in the toolbox?
Hello Inge, Oh, I would not know as I have never used them. Some idea though. Please keep liking and watching!
Richard I have another question please. On your bobbin: Did you use the same heavy duty thread size bobbin as you used on top, or did you use your regular size black bobbin with the heavy duty top thread? Thanks!
Hello Phillip, Sure, I only use one size bobbin for everything I do. Size of the top thread does not matter. Please keep liking and watching!

Thanks Richard. 😊
@@PhillipHall01 Hello Phillip, Your welcome pal.
Can I ask what formula you use to bid a job like this?
Haven’t found anyone on line who indicates how to bid the job.
Appreciate any help.
Hello Dans, I guess the formula would be, the person doing the work and experience. Geographical area, materials chosen, design and complexity of the item you are working on and so on. Please see this video: ua-cam.com/video/WOuzM5UPqM4/v-deo.html Please keep liking and watching!
Richard, Time for my dumb question lol.
On the big separation, where you sewed stitches down the middle before cutting and separating the backrest from the seat bottom . (I couldn’t see clearly enough). Did you leave a very small strip in between the sewing seams for the separation cut? I assume you did. . .
Thanks
Phillip Hall
Well, never mind on this one. I slowed the video down to 25 percent speed and zoomed all the way in on the cut and seen that you did cut in between. Thumbs up on the. GREAT video!
Phillip
Hello Phillip, Well, that's one way to do it! Please keep liking and watching!

Good
Hello Kap, Thank you so much for saying so. Please keep liking and watching!
The hacksaw blade doesn't have a cord or plug, or battery to keep charged. Certainly is cheaper too. You can afford to have several in your toolbox!
Hello Judih, And, the hack saw blades last your lifetime. Hehe. Please keep liking and watching!
I have a 1973 Javelin and all my plastic is faded amd crumbling. Replacement parts are ridiculously high! How can I redo my car without using the stock plastic?
Hello Gregory, Making new parts is really a challenge isn't it? Depending on the shape and size of the parts, you can make something in fiberglass, wood, or a stiff cardboard and cover it in vinyl maybe? Please keep liking and watching!

I haven’t tried it nor have the equipment. But I hear the 3-D printers can good for duplicating some plastic stuff.

Hello 4 speed, Well, decades ago, I used to used scissors for foam. Just another way of getting things done. Please keep liking and watching!

Throwing sissors down in your sewed diamonds is not a good ideal. 😂😂 You prefer nylon over polyester thread?
Hello Kentucky, No harm done. I don't pay too much attention to nylon or polyester thread. It really is the same to me. Please keep liking and watching!
@@oldschoolautoupholstery Fair enough, good video.
Rumor has it that polyester thread stands up to the UV exposure a bit better
It matters when you live in sunny places. Nylon is stronger with zero UV resistance. I say zero loosely but it's accurate. @@Timberns
@@AskLeRoy I prefer nylon for indoor use but most boat cushions are going to be exposed to a good bit of sunlight.
