Hello !
To begin this second season like that, with the presentation a new character is such a good idea and for many reasons. First, we ended season 1 with a little thing about him at the end, suggesting he would be important, and by beginning with him and only him, first episode, it's to insist on the fact that Einar is gonna be a main character from now on. Second, because it's to make us see how he lost his family, he lost the idea of calling a place home and he also lost hope… until he met Thorfinn. We understand with his lines that meeting our boy is gonna change everything for him.
And last and in fact major reason why it's a good idea to do things like that : because we begin this season 2 like we began season 1, with a character who is a slave. The writers are really making that subject about "slavery" and through that, losing hope, to not be free anymore, to not have any place to call home, the main subjects of this anime. And Thorfinn, who was so proud of not being a slave (but was kind of one for Askeladd), is now one ? How, why ?

This is the part where Vinland Saga becomes special. Definitely the best season of 2023

Einar's mom's dying message to Einar is for him to stay alive, to live, no matter what you go through. Simple but beautiful message.
Best arc i've readed in manga and the best season I've watched in anime alongside AoT S3/S4 and Sonny Boy, hope you like it, this season is something truly special, great reaction as usual

I have the impression that fans are divided about this season 2 : for what I understood (because I avoid spoilers like hell, I didn't read really stuff, just quick reviews on twitter or things like that), some fans were so excited by combative Thorfinn that they were lost by the direction the anime took (and that I begin to see because I have some advance on these videos), and the other part of the fans just loved that change of direction.
@@LauraReactions it's because they want básic anime, the normal stuff . Good vs Bad, action. This season is more deep and important ,can change Your perspective in some themes, than just action,and fighting . At the beginning i was bored, but then it was worth the wait.

They really nailed this season premiere. A little fun fact : the poem at the start (Carve it...) is spoken in old norse by someone from japan's Icelandic embassy. This anime doesn't really show the diffeent languages since everyone speaks Japanese no matter what their actual language is, so that's a cool little plus.
I would say Einar is strong, but he isnt a warrior at all
