    For future reference, you don't have to disconnect the cables and pull the control unit out. You can unscrew the tabs/tips of the control levers. Then if you are careful not to break it, you can squeeze and remove the cover from the control unit. This exposes the light bulbs. Gently pull and replace them.

      Mike James best of luck to him!! Both of you need to know that he will ruin this car. But it's ok. This won't be his last Miata. Better to learn everything on this one so that the next one can be his "good" Miata. They're great cars and parts are cheap.

      He is not the regular 16 year old.He saved all 1900.00 for his 1995 Miata 1.8 engine.Worked for it all so he will be careful and he knows he only will have so much money to put in it.I have driven it about 50 miles and the power is awesome combined with the gearing ratio.Told him he needs to do nothing to motor to make more power and I was a drag racer for years and he believes me on that.He does want to paint valve cover as we need to replace gasket.Already has wide tires,custom wheels,Borlla exhaust,and a roll bar on it.Most of his work will be cosmetic to make it look better outside and under hood.He got a good buy money wise not perfect but nice.Thanks again!!

    Nice Jeep logo. You can clean the contacts on those interior lights and add the LEDs. It's EZ.

    Hey buddy cool video. Quick question, how did you remove the #74 bulbs out of the HVAC. Did you completely rip out the bulb+ the bulb holder/housing? Then reconnect the cables into the LED housing ?

    if you look under your dash, on the steering column, you can see a blue box that is your airbag module. you can unplug that, as it's also the alarm when you remove the airbag bulb. then you can just pull the bulb and no more noise!

    Really like the led interior lights. Makes it look more modern without being too "flashy" if you know what i mean. Exterior looks great too, don't get me wrong, but the flashing that you say only appears on video, i usually see it in real life with leds. Still the difference is huge, no one can tell they don't see you coming :D

    • @goodeggproductions
      @goodeggproductions  7 років тому

      The flashing is a function of the LED flashing at an extremely high rate of speed on top of the camcorder recording at 60 frame per second. So let's say the LEDs are flashing at 100 times a second to make it dim enough to be the regular "lights on" driving lights intensity. Because the frame "grabs" of the camera is slower than the flash rate of the LEDs, there will be some frames that have two "flashes" and some frames that only have one "flash" of the LED. And because they're not even, the lights appear to flicker in the camera. But our eyes don't work like a camera and we only see a dimmer light. Sure, you can trick your eyes into seeing the flicker, but it's rare and you have to try to make it happen. With a camera, it's very apparent because the frame rate is slower than the flash rate.

      Well i actually have an eye disease that i was born with called Nystagmus which causes my eyes to wiggle horizontally 24/7. It also makes me see like 25% of what a normal person can see, but i think it's the wiggling that causes me to see the flickering of the lights. I had numerous discussions at the time that a lot of mercedes and audis came with models that had the LED tail lights, that to me looked like the old-fashions lettering boxes that they used here at the pharmacy's or something, with like the odd wiggling letters on it? They had no idea what i was talking about and stared at me as if i was on drugs. But now that you mention the rating of the camcorder and the flashing of the lights like in herz, it makes some sense, as i also see the flickering on high herz televison screens.

    • @goodeggproductions
      @goodeggproductions  7 років тому

      That actually makes a lot of sense. Some of the early LED christmas lights were bad about flicker and would really bother me when I drove by them. They seem to be made better lately. I can imagine if your have an eye flutter, you would see the flicker and it would suck.

    In Virginia what you call your driving lights have to be amber and the marker lights have to be amber. I like what you did. We have to have annual inspections. That's what I'm being told.

      @@goodeggproductions I want to do this on my miata. I want to change every light to led but the mechanics around here are saying I need to add something to add so it would not cause interference. But I want to plug and play. I can't remember what something is.

    • @goodeggproductions
      @goodeggproductions  4 роки тому

      @@jayedwards4863 They're probably talking about hyperflash. When your Miata thinks that one of your bulbs is burned out, it will make the other flash very very fast to let you know. Changing to LEDs will do this because they use so little power, the computer thinks they're burned out. That might make you not pass inspection. But there's a work around to wire in a resistor in series to the lights. I never did it because I don't care, but there's information out there about what kind of resistors to get. Sometimes, they even come in the box with your turnsignal LEDs.

    • @goodeggproductions
      @goodeggproductions  4 роки тому

      @@jayedwards4863 Yes. They're called switchbacks. And they're white as driving lights but blink amber for the turn signal/hazard light. But it's one single fixture.

    • @goodeggproductions
      @goodeggproductions  7 років тому +1

      There are two screws holding it in from the bottom hinges. You can actually remove those screws and the glove box stays in place until you actually unlatch it as you would for normal operation, and then it falls away.

    • @goodeggproductions
      @goodeggproductions  5 років тому

      LEDs only work one way. So all I did was spin the bulb around in the plug and it works. I explained that earlier in the video that it's really hard to know if you do it right or not, so you just have to do it and then check to see. Which ever ones aren't working, you just have to flip.

      Impossible. I would have never come up with something so funny or clever. Probably just a little nasal congestion getting in the way of my 'n'. However, I think I will be going back in to put red LEDs on the turn signals. The green is just so jarring now that the rest of the gauges are red. I also ordered brighter lights for the HVAC control, so we'll see.

    Wow lmao, taking out the whole Climate control was such a waste of time. You could've took off the face from the unit. You wasted so much time. There are screws under the black with white stripe switches. After that there are clips holding it in on the top and bottom.

      @goodeggproductions  7 років тому +1

      Ricardo Bravo you can't access all of the lights without removing that unit. Besides, it's my time to waste. And I enjoy learning about how everything works in my car.

    • @Ricardo-hf1bp
      @Ricardo-hf1bp 7 років тому

      goodeggpro that's true at least now you know how everything works. I've never replaced those bulbs in particular but I did replace the plastic face of the AC because it was sun damaged and I could reach what seemed to be only two bulbs pretty easily.

    • @goodeggproductions
      @goodeggproductions  7 років тому

      I watched a video of someone replacing that faceplate and I tried as hard as I could to remove those slider knobs from the stalks to remove the plate. Everything I tried didn't work. Using a large screwdriver to try to pry them off was starting to damage my plate, which is in pretty good condition, so I stopped. It ended up being easier to remove those three tensioning wires than to remove the faceplate.
