    Very helpful, I did this today but found it far trickier than you. My v6 has 2 brake line brackets on the arm, one removable one fixed. The passenger side can be done without uncoupling the brake line just, follow it back unclipping it, the drivers side I cut 2 slits in the fixed bracket and pulled the line free didn't want to have to mess around bleeding brakes. The bush bracket I really struggled to get lined up with the previous setting, Found there was limited movement, hopefully when it goes for alignment they'll sort it. Thanks again.

    That's an excellent way to go about it! I need to do this on my buddy's MK1 TT. His is FWD so I believe the suspension setup in the rear is slightly different than that of the Quattro. Hopefully I can do this successfully. I'm going to be replacing the entire rear braking system including the calipers so I guess that would be the best time to replace these bushings as well.

    Great video Chris; I haven’t worked on a car in over 30 years but am now working my way around a Mk1 and trying to remember things. Did you need to clamp the brake lines anywhere before doing this or had you bled the system first? Looks like my next job to (hopefully) fix the rear squeaking - tried virtually every other bush and no harm in updating them

    • @CarChris82
      @CarChris82  2 роки тому

      Hi yes I bleed the whole system including the abs pump after fitting these as the rear hard lines had to be disconnected. These cars are getting on a bit so bushes are getting worn out.i find the poly bushes so much easier to fit as you don't need a press

  • @jelly32
    @jelly32 2 роки тому

    Making it look dangerously easy, Chris! Very tempted to give this one a go.
    What are your plans with the brake side of things. Will you bleed it up via VAGcom?

    • @CarChris82

    Nice. Looks easy enough. So there's no need to bleed the breaks, or add break fluid after disconnecting the break line?

    • @CarChris82

      I did yes as I disconnected the brake line but you can unclip the line from the body which should give you enough movement on the arm but with its disconnected it give you a lot more

      I was able to do it without removing the hard pipe. I just unclipped the pipe from brackets that holds the pipe to the chassis. It gives you enough space for movement! I myself was also scared to undo the brake pipe thats why I tried the audi workshopmanuals's way 😂
