    Hi there, thanks for your video. It was nice to see the area we may move to. My wife is so from the northern beaches, but I've never even been to Australia. We are looking to visit September onwards and I'm wondering how you get into house sitting.

      No problem. The Northern Beaches is a beautiful region.
      There are lots of websites for house sitting. I use madpaws.com.au now, which is an Australian one you can get paid through. It takes a long time to get bookings though until you've built up reviews.
      I started off with Aussie House Sitters (affiliate link: www.aussiehousesitters.com.au/?tap_a=29446-7ada98&tap_s=498226-9c69c3) which you won't get paid through but is great for travellers as you can choose multiple locations. I've got lots of detailed guides on my website too: dreamingofdownunder.com/house-sitting-guides/
      Best of luck!

    I've been wanting to go to Australia since I was a little kid but ever since the covid restrictions I don't know what to expect now if I go.

      There aren’t that many restrictions here now. It kind of feels like pre-Covid to be honest. Hope you make it here one day!

    The northern beaches are so much better than those in the eastern suburbs. And more attractive as well

    • @dreamingofdownunder
      @dreamingofdownunder  Рік тому

      Yes, I love how rugged they look.

    • @doubledee9675
      @doubledee9675 Рік тому

      @@dreamingofdownunder I'm not sure what you mean by rugged, but there's plenty of bushland around most of them once you get past Dee Why. Not the high density living of those in the eastern suburbs.

    • @dreamingofdownunder
      @dreamingofdownunder  Рік тому

      @@doubledee9675 I just mean all the nature and bushland. A decent tree to house ratio in many parts!

    • @doubledee9675
      @doubledee9675 Рік тому

      @@dreamingofdownunder Certainly there is much more natural bushland on the northern beaches than there is around those in the eastern suburbs. The houses, also, are generally more attractive, with much greater window area than there is in those Californian bungalows.

      Will you want to see any specific attractions while you're here? If you want to see the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and city but stay somewhere quieter than the CBD, the Lower North Shore would be a good option (by the Harbour Bridge but on the north side of the river). You can hop on a train to the city from there. Some ideas are Kirribilli, McMahons Point, Lavendar Bay or Waverton. You get great views of the city from there too, and it's quite green.
      Riverside suburbs along the ferry route from Circular Quay would be nice if you can find Airbnbs. For example, Greenwich, Chiswick or Abbotsford to the west. Also Rose Bay or Watsons Bay to the east, although they do get busy on weekends.
      If you want to be by the beach, Bondi, Coogee and Manly are the popular tourist ones, so I would avoid those if you want somewhere quiet. South of Coogee should be a bit quieter, or north of Dee Why on the Northern Beaches. You will have a longer journey to the city though. Hope that helps!
