This was quite helpful. I've seen combo videos for Bison where they briefly explain before saying basically "If you don't get it, sell your game". I've never been good with charge characters, but I told myself that I'd pick up Bison no matter what people say about him. This should be incredibly helpful.
thank you man you saved me I started to today to play and I got crazy I need to fall back so much to charge attack and now I know how to use it efficient very well!
This video helped me alot with charge input timing in general. I did want to pick up Guile in SF6 but I was really bad at the timing and didn't want to be obvious when I was charging my inputs.
Me halfway through: *brain click* wait, as urien, jump in, down heavy into head butt, but hold back while pressing up to buffer chariot Thanks, as a Kage/necalli/akuma main, this charging shit is weird. I would’ve like Urien for the demos but he wasn’t out at the time
Umut Yildirim coincidental. I picked the game up because of necalli’s feral, rage SSJ3 style. Akuma because I liked his combo potential and air fireballs. Kage because of brutal, 0 finesse style, axe kick(loved it since sf4 despite never playing it), and the raging demon
Just started playing a couple weeks ago this video has made me a much better guile player, doing the trials was impossible until I learnt the tricks from your vids. Great tutorial mate !
Same here, I love H.HONDA or BISON, but my brain and inputs for doing this stuff into a combo it seems so hard. But it's all effort and putting in the time.
I don't play SFV,but I do play MvC2 and its frustrating trying to learn Hulk Combos since the only reliable way to land his supers is to land a gamma charge.Even then, you can't nessicarly charge while in the air at times.
Thanks so much Vesper and Mir for recommending this video, it really helped me understand charge characters a lot. Excited to try this stuff for myself and find a charge character I like.
I mean, NuckleDu (as of right now the best Guile probably) uses the Ps4 pad. I think the joypad vs arcade stick argument should die already, with enough practice it doesn't make a difference what anyone uses.
I’d not played street fight in a long while. I got it the other day to play with the kids. I was playing Chun Li doing bird kick, when I noticed if i combo’ed into it the charge time was different. You’ve just explained why.
Hi VesperArcade, I don't know if you mentioned dash or walk into CA in your "movement" video. If you didn't then how come it wasn't mentioned here? Is it because you are saving it for a later video or want to keep the information more simple? Thank you for your efforts and support of new players like me back in 2010/2011! You helped me grow a lot as a new player. P.S. At 14:51 you began speaking about how a player loses "back charge" when they perform a jumping cross-up so they won't be able to execute a short combo ending with a charge move. You are right! They do lose back charge which is why I jump with forward charge which turns into a full back charge once I land on the other side. Please add an annotation to that part of the video so new players can learn about forward charge becoming a back charge upon crossing over to the other side of their opponent. - KaizenMaster
Yooooo dude this totally changed the ways I want to play Street Fighter and any other games with "charge" based characters thank you man! You got a sub from me!
Always wanted to learn Urien back in the day but was put off by charge moves, this tutorial is exactly what I need for when he drops in SFV :) AND I get access to learn new/other future characters :D thanks Vesper! Time to (finally) learn the all american family man haha
What helped me get good at sonic booms and flash kicks was playing games like sf2ww and sf2 ce along with other old games. I’m 14 and my dad taught me to play guile on old games so that kinda transferred over into other games
Very comprehensive, I would have also added that when super cancelling a flash kick or sonic boom from down back that the charge also counts to the super.
Huh. This tutorial was actually better than the written info the game had given me... 🤔 I was puzzled in training mode for failing to execute sonic boom... and you show I have done it wrong all along... 😂 ...how missleading from the info... 😑
Thanks for the tip! i just started guile 1 week ago some of the combos i can do now i know why i did his super wrong its about speed and timing great tutorial. the only charater that i always played was ken but guile i liek him hes more defensive
Holy shit I had no idea about Guile's V trigger booms and I've been playing him almost exclusively since the character came out. LOL Thanks Vesper. Hahahaha
Hello Vesper, firstable, thanks for this video. I'm a new SF's player, and your video about charge character was very usefull and awesome. You really take time to explain every steps and me it's very understandable. I really appreciate. Well, i didn't play Guile because he's to hard to play for a beginner like me, i main Alex. I think it's a good character to let me introduce in the universe of charge characters. And i heard about something like "cancelling a St. MP or HP to Headbutt/Stampede" I found some video on Utube for sure but I'm asking if you can make video, a very, very short video about this motion cuz, ain't easy to me to understand the real timing about this move.
TonYe Kcol Performing a st.normal into a charge move is easier than you think. With back to forward, you hold back or hit neutral then forward to cancel. With down to up, you charge down, hit neutral then hit up immediately afterwards to cancel.
charge character seem hard at first but there really not that hard to learn but them are harder to win with most of the time they are really susceptible to moves that make u lose your charge like cross ups that why it very very important to be good at anti airing and footies if u want to play a charge character i use to hate them but I love them now plus charge times in sfv are much shorter
(5:00)Um, I guess cross ups are annoying with charge. Really just matters which position your guarding in (standing guard or crouching guard). Switching sides does lose the charge, however this puts them in range to charge it while you *counter hit* then you can simply string it off the counter, Charge time isn't as bad as most make it seem
Thank you vesper knew everythng in the video except the hard punch guile combo, the differnt v triggr exclusive fireball speeds and that bison can do charge moves in v trigger without charge previousl I thought h can only cancl special into special.... Fang is not the best char to learn chare with but I feel he is the easiest of all SF chars to charge with so I main him lol
Really clear concise guide - well done man! I'd just like to ask if you've used the Madcatz Alpha fight stick and how it compares to the one you have in the video? I'm finding the Alpha very oversensitive in movements and it's really hindering me moving up the ranks!
U don't need fast buffering for his st fierce to cr m u can cancel the flash kick late on the medium punch and still have it combo but u still need to be kinda fast but not crazy fast
hey vesper, the trick you do when you get a light punch before you flash kick, is there a reason you would use it for guile. I don't know, I do so how it's good for Alex
Hey, this is a really nice guide for this kind of thing, but I was wondering if you could do a guide like this for a game called UNIEL. Specifically the character named Vatista, whom is mainly a charge attack based character. She has somewhat the same mechanics, but with differences that make her a little harder to use than characters like Guile.
This was quite helpful. I've seen combo videos for Bison where they briefly explain before saying basically "If you don't get it, sell your game". I've never been good with charge characters, but I told myself that I'd pick up Bison no matter what people say about him. This should be incredibly helpful.
Fast forward two years and Bison is a good character
Amazing guide, i could never understand how players got charge moves out so quick. Thanks man
Thanks Vesper, my Ken is so much better now!

Thx for the info man, i was really struggling with uriens charge moves
just started sf6 world tour mode and learned the existence of charge attacks, thank you so much for uploading this!
Thanks for posting this, might be old but still is helpful to have around for anyone who wants to pick up or start maining a charge
This is awesome, thank you. I'm playing on a DS4 and I can't even clear Bison's first trial vol 1. I need to practice this so badly
thank you man you saved me I started to today to play and I got crazy I need to fall back so much to charge attack and now I know how to use it efficient very well!

Kage, Necalli and Akuma so you like evil characters? And I think you would play Ken if he had Violent Ken version in the game.

@@RetroWrathX13B Wow 🤔

Knowing that you can charge up-back or down-back is so goddamn useful, I really wish they emphasized it more
I learned because of the Guile turtles online
Just started playing a couple weeks ago this video has made me a much better guile player, doing the trials was impossible until I learnt the tricks from your vids. Great tutorial mate !
Same. Started playing 5 days ago. Haven’t played street fighter in 20 years maybe.

Fusion
I believe it should die aswell. Mostly because some pros change it up differently dependent on the character, balrog being played mostly on pad
It's not really an argument and never was with anyone with a brain. There are strengths to each, and faults to each.
lol i dont know any of this charge or 720 shit, i play PC KEYBOARD
