    I finally got my big bore inlet pipe after about 2 months of waiting, let me tell you, that had to be the most frustrating part I’ve ever tried to install. I was ready to give up on it lmao. I tried one day for like 2 hours and couldn’t get the stock one off, woke up the next day and said to myself “I’m getting this put in no matter how long it takes me”. Well it took me about 3ish hours. I ended up taking off a couple other parts that’s not mentioned in the instructions which helped out a lot. It was well worth it, videos definitely don’t do the sound difference justice.

      Haha any future person or if you ever need to access that again a 1/4 ratchet with a 4 in extension works well, you need to come in beside your brake fluid reservoir and get in from there I put mine on a couple nights ago and was having the same problem haha

    I think it’s 27psi including the atmospheric pressure so it would be roughly 12-13 psi of turbo boost

    • @MK6CHRIS

    Great video. This gets me hyped for an inlet. I just have AWE Track Exhaust and IE Intake. I did get the Unitronic downpipe, but totally forgot about the emissions crap here, so I'll have to get rid of it. Next step might be the inlet, some wheels and a tune... any other recommendations? Also, I think I may have some boost leak too.

    • @MK6CHRIS
      @MK6CHRIS  3 роки тому +2

      Hey thank you! Well, first priority should be locating and fixing that boost leak! Those suck and make you slower. Too bad you have to get rid of the downpipe. The downpipe also makes the turbo louder. But get the inlet for sure, it'll be worth it. It's affordable too. I like lowered cars so if you are in to that, lower it and get some nice light weight wheels. But you seem to have everything in heading in the right direction. Check out my other videos if you want to see what else I have done

    Would all the mods youv done work on a mk7 are the engines the same?

    • @MK6CHRIS
      @MK6CHRIS  3 роки тому +1

      Engines are the same with the exception of the turbo, the charge pipe/intake setup and placement, and coding. There’s a few other things but nothing to crazy. The inlet doesn’t fit on the mk7 because vw made a revision. I think you can buy intakes that go right to the turbo but I could be wrong. I’m trying to find a local mk7 Jetta guy so we can compare cars and parts and fitment .
      In short, no all the mods don’t fit. But some could. If you buy parts that do fit. My car / the sound , would be the result

      on cars that have blow of valves, yes. It's a bad surge. For my platform it's normal. Still not the best but we have no other way to perk the boost.

    Your 1.4 TSI with the big bore turbo inlet pipe does not sound any different than mine does with just a Intake and stock inlet pipe. Honestly I think its your intake thats makinv that sound not your inlet pipe. I have a MK 6 Jetta with the 1.4 TSi .

    • @MK6CHRIS
      @MK6CHRIS  3 роки тому

      Videos don’t do the turbo inlet any justice, so that’s easy for you to say. I have plenty of other videos on here to compare the noise. This inlet makes the whole forced induction system louder. It makes the turbo and intake flow so much better and so much louder. My turbo is definitely more audible than yours. Even when my car turns on , you can tell the difference. Idk if I included that in this video but it’s on my Instagram and everyone could tell the difference right away

    Damn, I didn't realize these things ran such high boost! That's pretty awesome. I imagine the stock turbo is rather small, but the exhaust housing flows pretty well if you're able to hold 27 psi at redline!

    • @MK6CHRIS
      @MK6CHRIS  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah my stage 2 pushes 27psi. It's mind blowing, especially on such a tiny turbo . Since the 3inch downpipe is a lot larger, it flows very well with my full 2.5in exhaust

      @@MK6CHRIS Just for reference, I used to have a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX. It came stock with some kind of tiny Garrett T25 turbo, on a 2L engine; with absolutely no wastegate control whatsoever, that thing would drop to like 10 PSI by 7500 RPM. The exhaust housing was simply too small to flow enough gas to maintain 15 PSI of boost.
      It seems your turbo is much better designed to operate at such a high boost pressure. That's good to see! That means not only is it operating fairly efficiently from a compressor perspective, but also it's flowing enough exhaust gas as to not be overwhelmed. I'm really impressed!
      The fact that you added these mods to it and it still manages those boost levels is really impressive. I think this 1.4T engine is a really good engine. I think good gains can be had from a better intercooler solution, even with this stock turbo. Then the next step would be to put a bigger turbo on (not sure if anyone is doing this) and finding out what breaks! :P
      Seriously though, I think this is a pretty impressive engine considering it's fuel economy roots. I love this kind of stuff! I once had a Geo Metro 3-cylinder with go-fast parts!

      @MK6CHRIS  3 роки тому +1

      @@rars0n yeah the GSX and a lot of other cars from that company didn’t really have good turbo set ups. But once you modified them, they were insane!
      I’ll probably get a hybrid turbo or maybe get a custom flange for something else. Depends, no one is really “ doing it “ . If they are, they aren’t documenting it like I do here.
      This 1.4T is really impressive , it was born from a 1.4T twin charger from over seas, so this block has seen lots of boost. Volkswagen made lots of improvements before dropping it here in the states. Really impressive for a tiny engine . Doesn’t sound half bad either
