I have Falken FK510 UHP tires installed and they're great for a daily driver. The new Bridgestone Potenza Sport is a bit better overall in that class. But it sounds like your looking for a 200 treadwear tire (aka UUHP) if you can sacrifice the wet handling. Tyrereviews on youtube does a majority of his tests with a 1.4T Golf btw.
Oh really ? Thank you for that. How do they compare to the Michelin’s? I just make just under 288wtq on the low end so it slips a lot.
@@MK6CHRIS I've driven a GTI PP with Pilot Sport 4S, but it was 18in. I thought the car was too stiff for daily driving. I'm in the northeast where potholes are insane, but it's probably nice on a 17in. I know you're on BCs now, which I've had on a car with BFG Comp-2 A/S Plus. That tire felt on par with the Falkens on the Jetta. However the Falkens on center steering is less responsive than either. It's hard to say the PS4S is worth $80 more a tire since you can get a UUHP for less.
@@johnathanyinger thank you a lot for this information. It seems I have a lot of research to do. Good to know. I really appreciate it

About how much did it cost to get the down pipe installed? I’m thinking about buying my Jetta at the end of the lease and modding it

Hey I have a 17' Passat 1.8t and I been looking around for Tuning options above stage 1 and I just cant really find too much, aswell as performance parts. Any help where to look would be great or in some sort of better direction :)
I would recommend to go on unitronic or ecstuning and plug in your car make and model and see what parts and tunes come up. You can also do custom tunes!
Hey Chris. Do I need to have the unitronic brand downpipe for stage 2 from unitronic or can it be a CTS downpipe and it won't matter? Thanks
Downpipe brand doesn’t matter! You’re good.

Would it be worth to get APR conputer chip upgrade on a 2018 VW 1.8t or not worth it?
I don't think so! There's so many better options
Awesome video and setup man! What did you use to turn off the traction?
Thank you and I used the traction control kit from ecstuning
Turn on ignition only , don't start the engine ,on hazard light step on gas pedal 5 times , it will disable traction control.
I have a 17 Wolfsburg edition, wasn't sure if I wanted to mod mine this much, but you sir have changed my mind. Since I'm planning on keeping it, was wondering if the 1.4 was any good modded. Very nice build, what's your front lip?

I have an awe exhaust injen intake and now a down pipe and stage 2 coming on a 5 speed 17 Jetta what do you mean by the restriction after the downpipe before the catback ?
There’s like an adapter that adds restriction that should be addressed but not completely necessary
Did you feel a difference with the APR coil packs?
down below 2k rpms at low speeds, I felt a huge difference. Up top, I am sure there is an improvement but nothing to write home about . I don't feel anything more up top but I am sure there is a tiny bit.

@@riv.k1302 you can get a custom tune with launch control OR just soft launch it yourself
Any of these upgrades worth it on an automatic or should I wait until I get my hands on a manual transmission?
why would auto or manual matter? It's preference. Our 1.4s are slow so we need every perk we can get! Autos are faster anyways. TBH u can't ask worth when it really is, preference.
What mods are required for stage 2 tune is it only a down pipe and and cold air intake
If you want barebones, it'll just be a good downpipe and the actual software.
Have you thought bout researching to see if we could get a intercooler on the car I got one and can’t seem to find or understand if you can or not on these cars
Yeah I’ve done lots of research about that. It’s possible but requires a lot of work for not a lot of benefit. Since the motor is so small , it cools quickly at cruising speeds. I could go into detail if u need
@@MK6CHRIS yeah that makes sense I could see that I just wasn’t sure if there has been anyone out there that’s found it yet so I just research things but thanks for the response man! And keep the hard work up cars lookin sharp!
Hey chris whats your opinion on the 1.8T i just bought a 2018 and really looking into going to stage 1. What should I work on first? Love the content G keep it up
hey my friend, I think the 1.8T is an awesome platform and is based off the older 1.8s that use to chase big power. These newer 1.8s don't get love and don't have a lot of support. A lot of " off the shelf " tunes are not available because they believe reliability when tuned goes down too much. What 1.8 do you have? Jetta? Those sounds great ( better than mine ) with a proper exhaust and tune. Stage 1 is a good start, however I skipped to stage 2 to save time and money.
First, I would say do your services then get an intake or exhaust. I would say intake first, cheap and sounds great. I have lots of content and more coming, I am trying to get together with some 1.8t jettas and compare/contrast. Feel free to ask any question, I appreciate it.
@@MK6CHRIS I have a Jetta SE Sport Its really fun and you can definitely feel there’s more power to be uncaged. Hey. I skipped stage 1. I buy everything on sale but I don’t remember the total . I did it slowly . I can make a mod list video and include all the various mods I have and what I paid?
This doesnt have the dsg trans does it? I have a 2016 tsi, stage 1 unitronic tune. I want to do the stage 2, I downsized from a 2015 mustang gt and am trying to get those nice noises when it shifts to. Mine is also automatic. The car sounds amazing when it shifts to, didnt think it was possible to sound like that without the dsg trans?
No this is the tiptronic auto . Oh yeah it has the “ dsg farts “ or “ dsg shifts “ . Just need a proper exhaust and WOT. I am enjoying stage 2 for about a year and a half . It sounds like that because the turbo is still holding boost. It’s a form of anti lag
@@MK6CHRIS is that feature similar to anti lag on my 2014 1.8t? Because when it shifts in between 3 and 4 it pulls pretty hard surprisingly. I saw apr rated it for 191hp and 203 ft-lbs, or 160whp and 183wtq. I run 94 and a drop in filter until it’s not the banks car soon.
@@someguyprobably well for the manual or auto?

no, it came with them
How much more power would a 1.8t make than a 1.4t with the same mods ?
probaly like 40-100hp more. Hope that helps!
Does this void factory warranties or car shield protection plans?
your warranty doesn't get voided. They just deny to fix something that has been modified. So, if your window motor stops they'll fix it. But if your actual car motor stops, then they will send you away
Is there an option to use launch controlor add it
For the 1.4t Jetta specifically but you can hold the rpm’s at like 2k and let off the brake
so this is super cool. But i just have to ask, why not just go for the GLI or even a SEL or something and tune that? For the price you spent on the car and mods, you could easily have gotten atleast a gen 2 2.0t if not even a gen 3. Really cool though, not knocking anything like that just wondering genuinely.
Well, when I first got the car. I just wanted something that was lowkey, reliable, and good on gas. Then I turned lol. I also got all my mods on sale and my price of the vehicle was low so I'm not doing too bad. It'll keep me out of trouble for now
I also sold a bunch of oem stuff from the car, which helped too
Do you need a tune for the turbo inlet and the intake? And how do you tune it? Is it a chip?
You can custom tune your car to accommodate for the turbo inlet but in most cases your car adjusts air/fuel ( AFRs ) . You see an example of this with intakes .
Right on I have a intake on mine no tune yet tho

Love the vid man.
Hey that's awesome. My first disclaimer is, you live in California , the worst state for car mods. Since they are illegal. You will not pass smog and cops can take your car. Second disclaimer is, you cannot make 400whp on stock turbo. You'll need a hybrid or something like that. Parts are tough to fine for the 1.8 nowadays. You'll need the basic, intake, downpipe, charge pipes, fmic, and probably cooler. Now where to find it? Well, you have to do research. Google, the vwvortex, and youtube is your best friend.
cts boss turbo kit is a good one for the gen 3 1.8t jettas since is38's wont direct fit on the 1.8's since they are non MQB
@@VWcachow good point! However, there are flanges available to make is38s fit. At that point, you'll need to be concerned about fueling and connecting rods
@@VWcachow thanks man i’ll look into it! appreciate the help
You’re definitely not doubling your horsepower for $2k, maybe add ~50%, at which point you’re pushing ~250hp. That’s plenty of power in those cars - more than a GLI.
I have a 1.4t se vw jetta 2017, I was thinking about a stage 2, what would you say about gas mileage after the upgrade. And are you automatic or stick shift, because I have stick shifts, so I know that would definitely change things a bit.
You answer my question, but I’m more interested in knowing how much it deters, let’s say if you are having a little fun, but not going overboard, maybe a couple pulls every once in while.
Hey so mpg is greatly impacted by the tune/software and the drivers habits. If you driver normally with a tune you’ll see a 5-10% decrease in mpg. I averaged 30-35mpg in my Jetta 1.4.
@@MK6CHRIS ok thanks that’s definitely something to consider, and maybe I’ll do something a little smaller to start off with, and see how it effects me, because I got my car and I love it, I just think it lacks a little power, and I was looking to get a little more power, without breaking the bank, and suffering the consequences of high gas prices. ..... don't tell anyone, it's a tiptronic auto. sshh. But in all seriousness, if you go stage 2, you need a clutch. Or will very soon
@@MK6CHRIS good to know. Thanks.
@@dylanengler4128 You're welcome. I am here to help
Where did you get the bumper lip?
from eBay !
@@MK6CHRIS thanks so much 🙏
How does the transmission hold up?
holds great! It doesn't like when I shift it into gear too fast when it's cold , besides that no issues. Don't forget this is the same trans used in the 1.8T
@@MK6CHRIS Nice to know, thank you
I wanna just get the stage 1+ tune from unitronic and the inlet pipe and thats it.
Good choice! You’ll enjoy it. Intake too?
@@MK6CHRIS do I need it? I was thinking about getting the second pipe that holds more boost pressure. I was worried about heat with not having an intercooler. More airflow to the motor for me in my opinion is better but I'm not tryna have this car long. It's slow, and nobody really makes aftermarket parts.
@@Codenamewang u don’t have too but it’ll add some nice intake/turbo sounds
I have the Jetta R-line 1.4 Lt. Would these mods work in California?
any modification done to a vehicle in California is illegal. However, some of these parks don't fit on the R-line
Cool stuff. Nice ride. Now the bigger turbo upgrade to get 300hp
Thank you! I will upgrade the turbo when I get a new car, probably a 19 R. I will do water meth injection to get to 250hp first or full E85.
Water meth? I'm a just put a 75 shot of nos
Water meth u gotta tune it. Who will tune it?
@@ozone377 I've seen water meth kits that are progressive so no tune required but for best results yeah I'll need a new tune. I haven't decided yet. I've debated nos, I have removed my seats in the back so I have room for both.
EA211???
mine, yes
Is it worth it?
yes and no. This video is meant to help you draw your own conclusion. I give you ALL the info you need. Pros and cons. Watch the whole thing, I promise you will have your answer
I don't think i have a traction control button
You can get it installed easy
@MK6CHRIS ahhhh okay. I'm going to do a few mods soon. It should be fun. The down pipe from ecs is going to scare me. If I were to get an exhaust. Should I get that all done together and what kind of shops would do those things. Thank you again
@@bean_ctm724 what downpipe?
@MK6CHRIS it was one you put on your old jetta. 3" downpipe with the cat. I want to do the big bore inlet, awe track exhaust, waste gate, throttle body, and air intake. I noticed they don't make many intercoolers for the 1.4 tsi jetta. I got a lot of inspiration from you. Would the stock turbo need an intercooler for what I'm doing or that's not necessary?
Should I go with catless
send it !
It's gonna be on sale Nov 26 25
Chris
@@dimasvw2518 yeah?
@@MK6CHRIS why u have cat
dsg 7 speed?
This is 6 speed tiptronic
nice, im from argentina and here the jetta comes with 1.4T too but 7 speed dsg. it farts realy loud
how much hp in all is your pushing
Probably 210hp at the crank. I know I make 280wtq. I think I mentioned some of my stats towards the end
i’m driving a jetta 1.4 with the racechip gts i was thinking about going stage 2 uni will there be much of a difference?
@@MK6CHRIS you should do a video on how to get your jetta as fast as possible 😂
@@Swagpacc I’m working on it! I’m on E85 (E30) trying to either do meth injection or full E85. I have a gutted rear. All documented on my channel. I heard good things about those race chips, but nothing beats this torque band. Watch the whole video. I do some launches in the beginning and middle/end. It’s fun
@@MK6CHRIS noted buying it now 😂
how’d you get exhaust to rumble
Nothing specifically. It is an aftermarket exhaust n downpipe
“No bueno” when’s the Spanish review? 🤔
manana
0-60 !!
Not yet , I have traction issues now. I’m waiting till these tires are done then getting some proper tires . I’ll get a good 0-60 then. Coming soon!
@@MK6CHRIS At this rate I'll get my stage 2 and run that 0-60 before you haha
@@antoinecalve2522 LOL probably, i hope you have better tires or those 0-60s will be so off. I have some performance Federal’s 595s. I just want an accurate number
@@MK6CHRIS can't wait to see haha I currently rock Firestone Firehawk Indy 500, 225 45 r17
@@antoinecalve2522 good to know, I’ll probably get some Michelin Pilot sport 4s or something in that category. 235/35. I want to go to the track with those.
Fact that its automatic ruins it
First car , I didn’t know I was going to get into cars like this. Next will be manual
Let’s be honest the Jetta is a fun car but the electronics mess everything up
never had any issues with electronics
Is he driving at? Wtf
Pardon?
Automático?????? Nonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
Sí
My Mk6 will gap yours
I would not be surprised, after all it's a 1.4T
@@MK6CHRIS lol I’m jk I love the car dawg
@@404monte6 No worries ! Thank you!
Sell that go get an alltrack
something heavier and slower with even less support? Plus, upgrading from a 4 banger to another 4 banger isn't an upgrade.
