When it comes to that girl on the table (fittingly named "The Painter") is locked away there by Friede herself. This World is Sister Friede (who is an Ashen one like you) and her Father´s Home even if it is rotting. That painter though wants to see someone light it on fire (and so burn it to the ground), so that she can get Inspiration to paint another "World" that you can get succed into like in DS 1 by using the Dark Soul itself as a pigment for it, so that it becomes the "new Home". Friede wants to prevent that at all costs so she locks her away and gives the Key to that dude who is her personal Knight.

Criticizing Vilhelm for healing while stunlocking through the whole game with a greatsword feels like that meme of spiderman pointing at the other spiderman
YOOO!!! Most people place friede in second or third place for hardest boss, well done! So about the paintings! In the first game, there was an area that was VERY similar to this one called the painted world of ariamis (not ariendel). It had a similar way of sucking you into it to get here mechanically too There is a girl in DS1 named Priscilla the half breed, who is half human half dragon. We don't know for sure who her parents were, but the leading theory is she was born of seath the scaleless and Gwynevere, the Goddess of fertility, proving her name Anywho, she was ostracized and lonely and felt she had no home, so the painter ariamis painted her a world to stay in, a place for people who have no place to call home, a dark, cold, and very gentle place where they could stay and nobody would bother them. That's about all that's relevant of Priscilla the half-breed except for the fact that as a side note it's pretty likely she got eaten by Aldrich since one of his attacks is to summon her scythe But this is a different painting that's definitely related to the one in the first game, but notably different. As it turns out, painted worlds wrote over time and that rot spreads and makes the place worse and worse. Usually when this happens, the painting residents burn the whole world down and have a painter create a fresh painted world, causing momentary destruction but securing the future for future residents. This is a direct parallel and contrast to the real world where we refused to let the fire dulie out and cause more stagnation in the world by linking the fire The current painted worlds painter, ariendel, was convinced by friede to not burn the place down and instead let it rot slowly, because Even a stagnant rotting world is better than letting the world you love burn according to her. Friede I find has a lot of fluff lore around her that doesn't really matter, but what DOES matter is that she is an ashen one, just like you, who instead abandoned her duties to instead look after the painting and it's residents She doesn't like you because for whatever reason 2 ashen one in the same plans can start the fire and burn the painting down. No idea how that works so don't ask me In this regard, defeating her and fulfilling the request of the new painter and slave knight gael of burning the painting so that they can make a new one in the future is parallel to extinguishing the age of fire and letting an age of darkness come in, ending the world so that a future fresh age of fire can happen thousands of years from now. It's up to you whether this is good or bad and which you prefer As for other residents, they're ALL the same lore wise Corvin's? Persecuted and no home Wolves and Millwood knights? Forest burned down, therefore no home. Ain't much more than that
Thank you so much for the continuing lore my guy. I do wonder tho, when a painted world burn down, do all the residents just die or do they migrate to the new world? Also, I think it’d be pretty cool if the “real” world is also a painted world somehow lol. We just don’t know the painter.
11:00 Okay so, you have stumbled upon an old fan theory, which might just have some merit. Hidetaki Miyazaki, the creative mind behind the dark souls series, bloodborne, and elden ring, has said that they are all seperate universes, but that doesn't stop people from making theories. There is lore that will be shown later on that supports the theory that that woman paints the world of Bloodborne, however, even without that, you have stumbled across that theory. So, while you are not correct, you havve stumbled upon an old fan theory by complete accident with about a third of the supporting evidence, just because you thought it would be cool. I'll explain the theory when you have the lore. When you crumble an orb and fight across fields of ash, you will find the lore of which I speak.
Greathammers are insane in this game. The one from the old demon king can destroy anything with its weapon art (it gives you insane poise and creates a laval pool around you). Vordts great hammer is also good because it deals frost damage and nearly everything is weak to frost in this game. But the dragonslayer greataxe is the best weapon over all imo, the second highest strenght weapon
