Although it was before my time really, I do remember this being reshown on Channel 4 in about 1985 on a Friday night then at 10.30pm or so at the time too. Good series, also had it on DVD discs so too as well. Thank you!
Budgie gave me two phrases that I still use regularly 'I'm back'; and 'They are naked, and they move.' Budgie's boss Charlie Endell was one of the great TV creations - menacing and ridiculous at the same time.
My favourite tv show at the time with it`s sayings "stone me Hazell" and Charlie Endell telling budgie he would get Laughing Spam to break his fingers one by one with a Toffee Hammer if he crossed him one more time, Budgie`s drink if i remember right, was always a Whisky and Coke
The first episode was filmed in our local park. After they blew all the dodgy books around the playing fields with huge fans, they paid us kids to go and pick it all up! Great memories.
I only found out recently that Adam Faith was a twin! He had a twin brother, a another brother and two sisters. He was the third oldest child. His father was a coach driver and Adam spent his younger days selling newspapers and doing paper rounds to earn money to fund his acting career. I'd love to see any photos of him with his siblings!
Budgie was made into a musical and it played in the West End in 1988. Adam Faith reprised his role from the series and Anita Dobson played his love interest Jean. It has some fun songs in it, but it only lasted 3 months at the Cambridge theatre.
Loved this show way back when, and saw complete re-runs on YT a few years ago (probably not available now). Good theme song as well - written by Dave Davies of the Kinks if memory serves. Those were the days!
I used to watch this series with my mum when I was 4 and 5 years old respectively. It must've been shown on a Friday or a Saturday night back then as I was allowed to stay up late to watch it! In 1986 at the age of 19 it was repeated. When I saw the seies again it sparked off a HUGE crush on Adam Faith. I have this seies on a 2 dvd disc set which I'll always treasure. Such lovely memories. Adam Faith is stunning in Budgie. R.I.P Adam. X
@acechadwick I know, it happens to me a lot ! 😆 lol! Did you know Adam had a twin brother? 😳 I wonder if he was or is, as hot as Adam? He had another brother and a couple of sisters too.
@sarahhealy1615 I didn't, but oddly enough I had him dying a lot younger than he was. I always thought he died in his 40's. He was really good looking even when much older. I love the old drama series. Bought Hadleigh which no one remembers...except me! 😅
I have just found this channel and spent a lovely evening watching most of your past posted videos. It bought back some wonderful memories of days long past.
Adam Faith also had a successful financial career, following acting, as an investor and journalist. He was a big name singer before acting. Quite a talent.
You can't go wrong with Verity Lambert and Keith Waterhouse. And when you think it can't get any better you get Georgina Hale thrown into the mix. Sadly no longer with us - great in an episode of One Foot in the Grave.

I remember one episode where Charlie Endell shouted, 'Budgie, you despicable little bastard!' Awesome.
..'..Ang about Haze....'
Loved Budgie !
No mention of Adam Faith being a huge pop star in the early sixties then…😂😂😂
I loved this show, Budgie jackets were all the rage when I was a teen.
Yes mate, Budgie jackets with the multi coloured suede patches, loved them, alas never owned one, still time, only 61.
@@angusdesire I'm 65, so I was well into that stuff
I wasn't allowed a Budgie jacket 😢
@@rustandoil Never mind mate, away and get a tailor to rack you up a budgie jacket. Never too late. treat yourself.
@@angusdesire... Now need "wide fit" 😂 😂

It was a wonderful series. And I loved the song written by Ray Davies of the Kinks 'Nobody's Fool'.
@acechadwick I was only thinking of this very song 🎵 this morning! "I'm nobody's fool and I'm nobody's friend! " 🎶
@@sarahhealy1615 Synchronicity Sarah ❤

Adam Faith also had a successful financial career, following acting, as an investor and journalist.
He was a big name singer before acting.
Quite a talent.
Great series
Laughing Spam Fritter Rhys-Davies greatest role was surely in the Lord of the rings trilogy as the Dwarf King.
Gimli
Adam Faith - currently dead. He was a top investment consultant.
While managing singer Leo sayer devious Adam faith robed him blind

Drama not comedy
Drama can be comedy or otherwise. Haven't you heard of a comedy drama then?
