Adam Faith - excellent 9-min interview (1974)

Former teen idol Adam Faith (born Terence Wright) was many things - pop singer, actor, music manager and financial journalist. Dead at 62, Adam Faith was one of Britain's early pop stars with consecutive Number One hits but became more well-known as a great actor, also discovering and producing Leo Sayer's first big hits. Cudos again to Bob Harris for this excellent interview with one of Britain's mavericks in 1974, Adam talking about his starring role in the TV series Budgie and working with Leo Sayer.

I didn't know he had produced David Essex and Leo Sayer...I understand as a younger man his generation of singers were eclipsed by the beatles and other bands of the mid sixties ...good on him for walking away and reinventing himself. BUDGIE WAS BRILLIANT... very well written and acted ! I have just been binge watching the 1st series, which has brought me here.

He was my heartthrob when I was 17. I worked in Acton and he bought his mum a shop in Acton vale . We used to see his speedbird parked outside but I never saw him.

Bob Harris is a total opposite to the showbizzy interviewers like Jonathan Ross and his unobtrusive approach was to get guests to relax. Adam Faith related a lot of interesting details of his life and interesting that he managed Leo Sayer whose early stuff I liked a lot.
