Things I loved about the season: Val's jokester arc Mystery of the saboteur Fear Co. V. Monsters Inc. Roger's true identity The Return of RANDALL Johnny being the big bad James Patrick Sullivan as Sully's full name MIFT v. Randall Val and Tylor making Ben laugh and becoming a comedy duo
Roger’s character was executed perfectly. He was such a good character that I truly hoped that he wasn’t a villain, and it was such a relief to see that he was nothing like his father at all. Season 2 peaks with its writing and character progression
The part where Tylor scared Ben was really heartbreaking, not only cause it was a flashback to Sully scaring Boo, but because Tylor had a panic attack too. I can tell by reality distortion in his eyes and shortness of breath. First it was Chase in the Paw Patrol movie, then Puss in The Last Wish, then Hunter in the Owl House, Floor in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Moon Girl, and now THIS. Man, anxiety attacks are just going around movies and shows these days. Anyways…that moment stung me. He sure learnt about what Sully meant by changing from scaring to laughter. It was even more shocking Randall came back too. If we get a third season, PLEASE let Boo come back!
@@theaveragecritic3308 I always love it when the very thing the heroes were trying to stop in the first movie ends up being what saves the day in the sequel.
I was pleasently surprised how much bigger and deeper season 2 was. Like it was so awesome having Johhny Worthington return and us finally get a really good inside look at FearCo. Even seeing minor characters like chet. But i was shocked how much Val and Tylors friendship got challenged and how much of a hard time Tylor had in season 2. I didn't expect literlly everyone turns against him. And omg the twist of Henrys waternoose son and Randall boggs returning?! Thats huge that i never ever expected
Personally, It was Tylor's friendship with Ben that got me. I mean of course they now through into kids rooms to make them laugh, but I wasn't expecting an actual friendship to be involved. Especially in the last two episodes cause Tylor being forced to scare him was gut wrenching, especially with Ben sobbing "I thought we were friends". It only made me glad they made up in the end and actually played with him and even hugged him for all of montropolis to see. This I want to see more of in season 3, cause that whole scene is hard evidence that kids arent toxic.
@@theaveragecritic3308 No kidding. I got flashbacks from movie where Sulley did same thing with Boo after seeing repeating history. And the anxiety attack after that, gosh what is with people giving animated characters trauma. First Leo in ROTMNT Movie, then Sonic in both movie and prime, then of course Puss in Boots in the last Wish and now THIS?! But I definitely cried tears of joy after Tylor reconciled with Ben and then cheered him up with help of Val. It truly felt like real PIXAR moment.
@@ivanacurna6577even Chase in the Paw Patrol movie suffered anxiety and so did Jessie in Toy Story of Terror. Even Floor in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3!
Don’t forget Dory, even she had a panic attack too. But there’s a fate worse than Waternoose. It’s that Velma spin-off that had bad panic attacks. By that I meant poorly done panic attacks. It’s mind boggling that this, Puss in Boots, Paw Patrol: The Movie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and others had better panic attacks than Velma. That moment with Tylor really rung a flashback of Sully’s accident with Boo. 😢
But the reconciliation with Ben with Val's help was a beautiful sight to see. Now for the first time ever, monsters have living proof that laughter is not just ten times but a thousand times more of a potent energy source than screams and fear ever was. Can't wait to see where they take it from there when Monstropolis has fully embraced the power of laughter.
I agree about this. Season 2 was fantastic. Monsters at Work is easily the greatest thing to come out of Disney+. It feels like a Pixar movie on TV. It's awesome.
Season 2 is the true genuine sequel to Monsters Inc that people wanted since it takes place after the epilogue of the first movie. I love the ins and outs of the energy industry of how the companies worked, like seeing Monsters Inc’s laugh floor and Fear CO’s scare floor. I honestly thought season 2 would involve the college more as they build up on laugh power, but the story is a nice change that improves on the lore overall. And all the little Easter eggs that connect to the movies also helped build up potential plot ideas for season 3. Like Rosie who was one of the sorority goth girls that worked at Monsters Inc, became a jokester, but somehow left to work at FearCo as a scarer and is now fired from that too (that was a crazy offscreen character arc). The relationship with humans is also a crazy thing to notice as now the kids know about the monsters and is willing to laugh for them, which leads me to hope for more with them a bit, like maybe a return of Boo but with more lines since at this point in time of the story, it’s been 9 months, so she probably has a better grasp of speaking. I also see some potential story arcs that could happen in season 3, such as Duncan and Declan being potential twin brothers; Fritz and Joy maybe building something of a relationship. Also what was your favorite Easter egg? Mine in season 2 was the stoop sale where it was revealed that Mike and Sully’s frat brothers Terri and Terry are famous scarers. I also like how Carla is the major vet of the show, was seen in university working at monsters Inc and was able to change her career seamlessly to a jokester. Now she got a scare card and a jokester card
Roger was the best character in the show. It is really hard to add a new character to an iconic group without it feeling too crowded or unnecessary, but from the moment Roger first appeared, he immediately fit into the M.I.F.T. team! He was hilarious, passionate about Monsters Inc. (despite his father's history there), and in the final battle against Randal, it really felt like he wasn't even a new character, but a character we have known for a long time. And I absolutely LOVE how they brought back the scream extracter, not for evil, but for saving the city
This season was surprisingly terrific and wholesome. It felt like a genuine sequel to Monsters Inc and didnt felt like an obligation to watch. In Season 3 I hope we get a return of Fungus in someway, perhaps Randall has a buddy reunion with him after he escapes Prison and because Fungus is a complete Tool and scaredy cat he obeys Randalls every command, but after Tylor or Fritz exchange some sentences, he finally stands up for himself and backstabs Randall
I thought it was someone different at first, before watching season 2 I decided to rewatch the films and season 1 so they were fresh in my memory and it had been a while since I watched the films, and I thought that the voice sounded different.
They brought back Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Jennifer Tilly and basically every voice actor from the movies for their respective characters. Its not surprising
I like how they brought back Johnny Worthington for the 2nd season, I often wondered what happened to the characters from Monsters University. It's good to see them branching out.
But now how would Claire and her kids feel when they learn that her husband and their father is in prison? What will they think? Will they be sad when they learn the truth?
Roger is such a pure and precious bean and I’m _so_ glad they didn’t resort to the overplayed tired cliche of _really_ nice guy actually being evil. Instead, they stuck to the classic characters continuing their asshole tendencies. They sure got me with Johnny. I really thought he actually turned over a new leaf, and his professional and calm facade was a welcome effort of redemption… Nope, he’s just as much as a pain in the ass as he was 20 years and 200 pounds ago at MU!
Yeah Nathan fillion gives such a charismatic performance as Johnny I thought he had too. Johnny and Roger were my stand outs! Hope you enjoyed the video!
I love how the used Roger as a fake bad guy. I remember yelling at Duncan about thinking Tyler was the sabateour while the "real culprit" was shopping in the background. It made Randall's return stay shocking for me even though I saw that he returned before watching episode 1.
I’m so happy seeing how everyone goes from “monster at work was ok” to “this show is so underrated” in just an entire week. This show means so much to me and it deserves all the hype it gets
Well, I’m surprised that George didn’t get that cone removed or grow his hair back. At the end of the first film of the franchise he was shown to have grown his hair back and had the cone removed. If they do a season 3 will he finally be back to normal?
@@cradiculous but at the end of the first Monsters Inc. (2001) film it had shown he had grown his hair back and got the cone removed. He seemed to not have any bad luck from there.
I like how it was Tylor and Val who convinced everyone Laugh Power is the way to go. Mike and Sulley do their best, but they have to sell it as a business first because they are tied to it as such, not to mention they are practically veterans who are trying to convince the masses their method is better than their reliable method. Tylor and Val, two young monsters, one of which is a prime scarer, showing exactly why it's a good idea with a live demonstration showed everyone why it works and why it's morally better. They showed Ben having fun, no different from a regular monster child, and tugging everyone's heartstrings at the sight of it. They managed to convince the majority of people that laugh power is viable and more powerful. I doubt it will convince everyone to stop scream power, it's too embedded in their society.
Mike and Sully also have the disadvantage that the two of them are kind of unceremoniously dropped into this position where everyone’s suddenly paying attention to them. XD You think Sully had his issue of coming into College with everyone just expecting big things out of him, just amplify that right there.
from the first couple minutes of the first episode of season 2 i could already there was a different more fuller vibe to it and i knew i was going to love it. the addition of the family, new locations, people from the past, new people, the married news anchors (which i loved), really added to the world building! it was more satisfying than the first and managed to build on everything that came before it like you said.
The end credits of Monsters University shows us through the scarer cards that another rival company called "Scream Industries" exists. Maybe Season 3 could focus on that company and get Randall involved in some way since he did escape prison.
And other things I want to happen is the monsters from the Monsters Inc Laugh Floor show at Disney, like Chris Pratt as Buddy Boyle, Steve Carell as Mac and Jeeves, and Iain Armitage as Marty Wazowski. Plus, mostly, the return of Boo.
4:41 oh I loved that Scene with Tylor scaring the kid. What incredible performance! And the direction and animation! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼they perfectly conveyed what’s like to have such conflicting emotions and morality battling inside your head. It really took a phosical toll on Tylor I honestly thought he was going to pass out! And I fell so bad for him😭
I agree on all points you discussed. Roger was easily my favorite character, very much reminiscent of Wander (from Wander Over Yonder), the development of the characters was astounding. I especially adored Duncan though he was a character I initially hated at first. His lines were gut bustingly hilarious.
I’ve got some ideas for season 3: 1. It isn’t clear if FearCo was completely shut down at the end of season 2, if they haven’t: they should make another Epsiode where they play softball but this time monsters Inc wins. This would be a great moment in the series as it would mark their very first victory in the softball games, which would be a very uplifting moment after loosing for 40 years straight. Continuing with the idea that FearCo hasn’t shut down, they would have to rebrand because of people wanting laugh power (most likely changing their name to LaughCo), they could have it so their new CEO makes a more gradual change to laugh power, as a contrast to Sulley ‘all in’ approach. 2. In Season 2 Epsiode 8, Mike claims he’s making a play called ‘New Canisters’ to hide the fact that the canisters were leaking (or so he believed at the time). It would be really funny if they made an episode where they tried to make a play called ‘New Canisters’ with Sully to direct and Mike to do his ‘New Canister Dance’. This would be a call back to ‘Put that kid back where it came from or so help me!’. As for the play itself: it could be about how the monsters adapted to the change from scream to laugh, and could also potentially be used to make meta commentary: in a similar vein to the Ember Island Players Epsiode from ATLA. 3. They could have some scenes with Waternoose and Johnny Worthington III, maybe see their perspective change whilst their sharing a cell in prison. 4. It would be interesting so see how Johnny’s family are coping as a result of his arrest. They will likely be dealing with the emotional fallout from discovering that their dad who they loved was actually a crook and will likely have to live with the stigma of being associated with him, in fact Roger Roger’s will have had to have dealt with that when his father (Waternoose) was discovered to be making a scream extractor: so they could potentially bond over that shared experience. 5. In season 2: it’s implied that the members of Oozma Kappa were able to become successful scarers, which means they will have to adapt now that laugh power is becoming a thing: Mike could train them up to be jokesters the same way he did to be scarers in MU. 6. Randall should come back as a villain.

This would mean that if Monsters Inc finally won: the episode would end in a very heartwarming moment with Mike and Ceelia finally being able to enjoy a meal together at Harry Hausens. Also the Epsiode could be a two partner with Mike trying to train the team to victory in the first part: similar to how he trained Oozma Kappa in MU. The second part would be the victory: they could even have Waternoose and Johnny Worthington spectating the game as they are allowed a day outside of prison and have Johnny making a smug/gloating remark about how FearCo have won all 40 of the past games and how Monsters Inc are so useless that they’re going to loose this one again marking their 41st conservative victory: only to then witness his company loose for the first time. 2. In Season 2 Epsiode 8, Mike claims he’s making a play called ‘New Canisters’ to hide the fact that the canisters were leaking (or so he believed at the time). Randall should come back as a villain. 7. They could show how Sully’s family (who were initially established to have a strong legacy of being great scarers) are reacting to the change from scare power to laugh power. 8. They could have an Epsiode where Mike finally does his paperwork on time but because of some unexpected circumstances: he looses all his paper work and has to scramble around trying to fix everything only for the episode to end with Roz calmly telling him that once again, he’s late, with her usual dry humor. 9. Mike could propose to Ceelia and or Tylor could propose to Val or both.
One of the things that I appreciate most about monsters inc. season 2 is the whole thing about scream vs laugh power. In the first season, they were simply trying to keep monsters inc. up and running and adapting to fully using laugh power. But, in the second season, laugh power and scream power come to a head. Scream power is seen as traditional and "embracing who you are". Meanwhile, laugh is more about progress and adapting in order to keep the city running. Idk why, but it reminds me heavily of Frostpunk 2 where the city eventually has to adapt to a new source of energy, but not everyone will like that or others will take advantage of it, such as when in season 2, we saw that they were combing laugh power and scream power, which had unforeseen consequences. They did NOT need to hit it hard for season 2. I really enjoyed the themes they were presenting or possibly had slightly hidden in it. Good season, I actually enjoyed watching it.
I loved season 2! And i don't know if i watched it wrong, But one thing that really bugged me was Val went on complaining that Tyler didn't support her decision to become a jokester and didn't want then to stop being parteners when she didn't support tyler wanting to become a scarer and kinda guilt tripped him into staying by saying they were partners and he couldn't leave her. They kept setting it up like Val was gonna realise she was being hypocritical or Tyler was gonna confront her about her actions but they never did and it keeps bugging me. Could've been another great point
Yeah I see what you mean. I personally didn’t feel that. One thing I loved from the show is all the conflicts whether you agree or not. Like when Tyler is completely betrayed by them all and they don’t believe him like that really hurt but I see what you mean
the return of a fan favorite character need the end really caught me off guard, as I was sure that Tylor was framed by Roger and yeah, the way they left with that character, really shows that a 3rd season is possible, but not required
I kind of want to watch this show now because I feel it fixes a lot of issues I had with Monsters University and feels like a better continuation to Monsters Inc which is a movie I still hold near and dear to this day.
I feel the show really enhance the writing. There’s still a lot they could too if they want a third season. Randall still on the loose they can always bring back Mr. Waternoos. And they can always do a romantic thing between Val and Tyler. Also, they can start teaching monsters jokesters at monsters University. They have a lot of good options.
This entire season was amazing! And Tylor scaring Ben was such a sad moment for me, and his trauma after it too was hard. He cried! I heard it! Truly a wonderful season
Despite what negative things people say about Monsters at Work, I genuinely enjoyed this second season! Despite its flaws, I found it so enjoyable & engaging this time around!
I find that a tough comparison since both shows aren’t even in the same league. Plus Monsters At Work had been around since 2021, before Megamind Rules even aired. If anything, it’s better then what the Bad Batch did.
I enjoyed this season a ton, and I agree with pretty much everything you stated, great video ^^ Only nitpick I have personally is...I feel like Johnny Worthington's villain-reveal was semi-forced. Don't get me wrong, there were just enough antagonistic vibes from him throughout the season, but with the way they built him up as this charismatic community hero, family man- err, monster, and supportive figure towards for Tylor, it kinda made the reveal and his actions in the finale feel a bit 180 degrees. 🤨 Bey hey, maybe that's just me
I agree 100%. This season’s a massive step up to season 1, also I was trying to look for the ost that was used at the end of episode 8 (during the credits). Yet I can’t seem to find it anywhere sadly.
That was so good and I do agree. Season 2 was definitely a very good sequel to Monsters Inc and every Saturday I was looking forward to the next episode next Saturday. The plot twists of Roger being Henry J Waternoose’s son, Randall being behind everything and working with Johnny Worthington, and Chet Alexander secretly working against Johnny are well written twists. Randall being at large definitely does hint the possibility of a third season or a third movie being the series finale. If Waternoose does appear he can be voiced by Kelsey Grammer since he was originally going to voice him in Monsters University. Maybe he can be like Yokai from Big Hero 6 of this series. Or perhaps it can just end it here because it’s such a good ending and Randall just remains at large because like Mr Potter from It’s A Wonderful Life loneliness is what he asked for and his karma since he had panty of chances to remain friends with Mike and redeem himself. It would be a unique fate for a Disney and Pixar villain. Pinocchio does show that sometimes criminals get away. I had three possibilities: 1. Johnny Worthington really did change for the better, but just believes scream power is better than laugh power. Did have good intentions for Tylor. 2. Roger is evil either on his own or was hired by Worthington to sabotage Monsters Inc and frame Tylor to manipulate him into working at Fear Co. Considering the fake nice person cliche and the telephone conversation sounded like a villain henchmen being afraid to tell there boss they failed and arguing with them. 3. Randall Boggs was behind everything.
I honestly loved season 2. i still like season 1 and i really like the sweet moment at the end how it ties into the ending of the first film but season 2 is good for all 10 episodes. not one feels out of place and they all keep adding to the overall story. The moment at the end where they make the boy laugh was such a touching moment and i like how different her way of making kids laugh feels where its not just about them being silly but actually just being herself. Im existed to see if they do make a 3rd season and now they brought back randle they have to bring back Waternose for season 3 if it dose get greenlight but if we dont end up getting anymore im honestly happy with this being where it ends. Gonna be kinda hard to top tbh.
@@almir-chan9570 oh god yeah I know. But I never like recasting some characters especially with such a unique voice like that. It’s always conversation to have when the actor passes away
Honestly my only complaint is that the season completely ignored the ending of season 1 and the movie of when sully opens Boo’s door again, it’s just never brought up at all despite this taking place after he saw her again
Perhaps thats what theyre setting Season 3 up for and why they had Randall escape so he can have his calculated revenge on Sullivan without any distraction like Johnny. He could burn down Boos door so he'd never see her again or he can raise the stakes and kidnap Boo making him choose between her or Montropolis Energy supply, which mean Sullivan will either lose Boo for good or keep Boo safe but wont be able to return her home because she has trauma and can't laugh.
The scenes that made me sad were Tylor getting accused and fired and Tylor scare Ben which reminded me of when Sully scared Boo You know it's bad enough that Johnny was such a bully to Mike back at University but stealing laugh power and making Monsters Inc look bad is too far! I think this season is trying to get me to ship Tylor and Val especially in final episode where Tylor apologize Val for being a bad friend, I don't ship them because I only see them as friends! It's so great to see Randall again, hoping he comes back for season 3 as the main villain along with Waternoose and Johnny escaping prison and kinda hoping they adapted one of those Monsters Inc comics
Yeah I see a lot of the shipping of val and Tyler. But I really don’t see it. To quote something from Anthony Mackie when talking about Falcon and the winter solider Why can’t two people who are close just be friends. Which is what I see with them. They are just good close friends
I honestly wasn't a big fan of Monsters at Work season 1 but season 2 blew me away. I just love this franchise in general. They did an incredible job making season 2, I really hope they make a season 3. Btw, Monsters University is MY FAVOURITE MOVIE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD, I literally mean it, that movie really inspired me and made me feel connected to it in a way that I have never felt about any movie before. I love Monsters at Work and Monsters University!!!
I really liked this season. I felt for Tylor, I know what it’s like to work somewhere that doesn’t allow you to use all your talents and to want a more financially stable job. I hope there’s a season 3 but I’m not holding my breathe.
@@theaveragecritic3308He felt more selfless this season. He’s a good main character and but man he’s so clumsy and seriously needs to give Duncan a scare to back off. What do you want for a possible season 3?👀
@@brianachim2670 yeah in the first season his clumsiness came across as weird but somehow was funnier in the second season. And I don’t know about season 3. I’d love to see Tyler take on a more mentor role maybe
Honestly some episodes, I'm surprised it's a kids show. An episode about dinner with a boss? Learning to accept career changes? Working for a company that is starting to resent you for looking for alternative work? Absolute mastery.
I really liked how this season connected the show & both films together. Fan discourse always made it feel like all three of them were separate entities/universes, but it genuinely felt like the plot elements & characters just blended everything together and summed up the themes of both films in the best way possible I already liked season 1 since Tylor’s story and the transition to laugh power felt relatable between the wave of layoffs and the aftermath of the pandemic, but season 2 took everything I liked about season & cranked it up to 11
Just watched it and gotta say it was way better than expected. Spoilers Sully's talk about Boo from season 1 was one of my favorite parts of that season but the fact Tylor experienced that first hand was both great and heart breaking at the same time.
when I watched the series, I could tell this season was most likely going to have Tyler question if he can be a jokester, get back to scaring, only to have to scare a kid that he knew (likely Ben) and then feel bad about that and not want to scare anymore. I wasn't sure if Roger was a red herring and there was someone else doing the sabotage or a double red herring and they were getting us to believe it was just a red herring.
Season 2... we didn't expect it, we didn't ask for it, but when it arrived... my goodness! Season 1 was underwhelming and kinda boring. Didn't do the movie too much justice. But then comes season 2 and not only did it redeemed the first season, but did the movie proper justice. Many people were upset that Tylor's supposed character development in the first season was seemingly being wasted in the next one, but it actually made things better. If anything, it was his desire to be a jokester that came in too fast. Thankfully season 2 fixed that by making him have doubts about his decision. You work hard at being something and then suddenly want to change it? Yeah, that didn't convince me, but the second season fixed that. And it was an amazing touch having Tylor go through a similar scenario Sulley did to finally understand what he said about Boo. Then the characters. Roger Rogers was a very welcoming addition. We were all fooled into thinking he was a secret bad guy, especially when we learned he was Waternoose's son, but not only is he as nice as he first appears, he is NOTHING like his father, and that is a marvelous lesson. Just because some of your family members are bad doesn't mean you're going to be that way too. And Johnny. Another character that fooled us. We also think he mellowed out and change for the better. After all, Sulley went through that jerk phase too and changed for the better. Johnny however, not only was he the same jerk as before, he actually got worse. And that was another great addition. Some people change for the better when they grow, but others don't and might become even worse than before. It happens.
This season gave us a lot of character arcs, and I feel the only reason why this season is more successful than the last season because season one did not had antagonist in season two and antagonists are Johnny and Randall and also it’s fan service to bring back Randall for the show we throughout the monster world like waternoose and Johnny but Randall is the real criminal mastermind I look forward to see him as the main antagonist for season 3
I enjoyed watching season 2 and i hope they do a season 3 where claire could play a role in it now she a single parent now and i think she would ask sulley and Mike wazowski to hired her to work for monster inc they both think about and claire she had no knowledge of Johnny doing and because of it she has lost her job and the news network won't leave her and her children alone she gives them her phone number and was about to leave when Sulley call out to her telling her they do have a spot at monster inc she be helping Celia and Claire accepts the job role
Season 2 of Monsters at Work was really great. It was a lot more suspenseful than the first season. I also liked Tylor and Val’s relationship in this season and I found the ending with that human kid to be very wholesome.
The one thing I would say is that the ending kinda felt rushed. If they just showed Tyler staying at the company over a longer period of time then just one day, I think it could’ve been better. Maybe over the course of a couple months he sees the error of his ways.
Yeah I know what you mean about the ending. Yeah I think they wanted to make sure that scream power was wrong so didn’t want Tyler staying there too long. But I get what you mean totally! Hope you enjoyed the video!
Yet, it wouldn’t be Disney without pandering to the DIE and LGBT crowd with there being a lesbian relationship. Can’t we just go back to the days when relationship are more… agape?
As a proud straight man and a supporter of LGBT crowd. I couldn’t care less what a characters romantic preference is. I thought the story surrounding it was cute and fun! It’s your opinion but that’s mine!
@@theaveragecritic3308 Don’t you think this kind of insertion is getting old and tiring by now? Korrasami was pushed in at the end of LOK without a proper build up throughout the series. I’d say the same for Ruby and Sapphire at the last episode at Season 1 of Steven Universe, but then they made more seasons expanding them, so you can easily say that is an example of how to build it properly, as long as it’s revealed right from the start.
yeah. They literally interrupted Tylor's apology scene just to show something that never needed to be in the series in the first place. The last 2 episodes gave me Camp Cretaceous season 5 flashbacks, another show where insetting a random gay ship was completely unnecessary
I liked Season 1 but Season 2 was brilliant!! I have nearly zero complaints, aside from wanting to see more of Fear Co and maybe some of the guys from Oozma Kappa showing up,but who knows! We may get to see them in Season 3,given there were a few references to them this season.
I feel bad for monsters Inc there have been 40 yearly softball games and they were beaten by FearCo in all of them. If there’s a season 3: I hope they get to beat FearCo
I initially ignored the news about the show’s second season as I thought that the first was just meh at best. But… WOW. This season blew me away quite a bit with aspects such as the drama between the characters that had my heart racing. I ain’t exaggerating when I say that the scenes involving Ben in the final two episodes made tears roll out of my eyes in two different ways (🥺 and 🥹), and I wasn’t even thinking about THAT scene in Monsters Inc. Also, good for Cutter and Sunny 😊👍🏽
This season definitely improved on what made the last one good as well as adding more to the world of monsters inc and the last 2 eps were definitely the best eps of the seasons in my opinion and if it gets a third season i hope they keep it up with the quality
Facts! One show has her play a literal monster on the outside who's sweet and friendly while the other show has her play a figurative monster on the inside who's anything but sweet and friendly.
I personally enjoyed season 1 but I can understand the criticism, but I do feel season 1 did a good job introducing the characters for season 2 to flush out a far more interesting story line. The plot twists were fantastic, without spoiling anything, there were so many moments that genuinely surprised me. Absolutely adored season 2.
Yeah I wanna go back and watch season 1 again because I definitely think that’s the set up and season 2 is where they shine. A lot of shows are like that
Omg literally! Also bless Steve Buscemi I didn’t think it was him. He’s obviously got a lot older since the last film because I didn’t think it was him. But still was awesome that it was!
I’m more surprised we got to see more of his college life after he flubbed the games in the university movie, he went from freshman noob to frat bully in those 4 years
I wasn’t crazy about how everyone just turned on Tyler when he thought he was trying to figure out the big problem. Other than that I really enjoyed the season.
@@theaveragecritic3308 My head canon for many years was that the Swamp Family sold him to a circus after they discovered he could talk as well as turn invisible and change colours. In where he's the star attraction called "The Talking Alligator who can Turn Invisible and Change Colours".
this is not a Pixar show. This is made by some 3rd party company that makes these shows from what I have heared but no this is not a Pixar productions but is using these characters from pixar
Season 2 was great. My only issue was its final episode. The pacing was too fast, and they rushed in some last minute exposition. It didn’t ruin the season, it just felt poorly executed. Other than that, it’s a 9/10 season. Massive improvement!
For me the plot twist of the season is finding out a nice guy like Roger Rogers’s real name is Henry J. Waternoose IV
I know! I loved that. Roger Roger’s was probably my favourite character in the show
How much you want to bet Roger Rogers was born out of Wed lock.

I wasn’t sure if Roger Roger was a red herring or I was being double gibbeted.
@@theaveragecritic3308and another plot twist RANDALL RETURN. THE KING, THE MEH, THE LEGEND, HE RETURNS
Things I loved about the season:
Val's jokester arc
Mystery of the saboteur
Fear Co. V. Monsters Inc.
Roger's true identity
The Return of RANDALL
Johnny being the big bad
James Patrick Sullivan as Sully's full name
MIFT v. Randall
Val and Tylor making Ben laugh and becoming a comedy duo
All this! Same! 🤣
Bruh, Sully's middle name is PATRICK?!? That's my middle name.
So that's what the P stand for in James P. Sullivan.
Yeah Randall's return in Kh3 we don't talk about that
Roger’s character was executed perfectly. He was such a good character that I truly hoped that he wasn’t a villain, and it was such a relief to see that he was nothing like his father at all. Season 2 peaks with its writing and character progression
I know I really thought he might have been the true villain but he was so funny so nice that he wasn’t
He was SUCH A CUTE BEAN I LOVE HIM WITH MY ENTIRE BEING, I WOULD DIE FOR HIM
The part where Tylor scared Ben was really heartbreaking, not only cause it was a flashback to Sully scaring Boo, but because Tylor had a panic attack too.
Yeah it was a truly heartbreaking scene! It got to me too.
Moon Girl also had a panic attack in it.
@@king_poyo64Meant to bring that up too. Thanks for the reminder.
@@ultimatedisneycruiselinefa5112 now that I think about it, the recent Digital Circus episode may have also had a panic attack or two.

Also, the MIFTers using the Scream Extractor to save the city from what could only be comparable to a nuclear meltdown was a stroke of genius.

@@theaveragecritic3308 I always love it when the very thing the heroes were trying to stop in the first movie ends up being what saves the day in the sequel.
@@Nighlocktheawesome00 Oo yeah does this trope have a name?
When Tyler was devastated about scaring Ben, it literally made my jaw drop because it’s just like how sully felt with boo, just too good of a show.
I know that moment is so powerful and moving!
@@theaveragecritic3308Yeah Ty Ty had a powerful moment
But it was even crazier because he just had to keep going. And it was actually scaring the kid he liked rather than an accident. Brutal scene really
Even that panic attack afterwards…
I was pleasently surprised how much bigger and deeper season 2 was.
Like it was so awesome having Johhny Worthington return and us finally get a really good inside look at FearCo. Even seeing minor characters like chet.
But i was shocked how much Val and Tylors friendship got challenged and how much of a hard time Tylor had in season 2. I didn't expect literlly everyone turns against him. And omg the twist of Henrys waternoose son and Randall boggs returning?! Thats huge that i never ever expected
The 2nd season ending brought me an emotional moment as well. I’m home run man… home run.
HOME RUN!! 🤣 loved that episode and yeah it’s such a lovely joyful ending
Tylor’s accident with Ben really did stung…not only the flashback to Sully accidentally scaring Boo, but the panic attack too. 😢
Omg literally that scene is almost hard to watch and I don’t even have kids! But yeah I loved his relationship with Ben
It's awesome.
if they make season 3 it should preparing the company play "put that thing back where it came from or so help me"
@@FamilyGirl566 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I also think the finale is dark because if MIFT didn''t stop the machine it would've destroyed Monstropolis like a nuclear bomb.
Literally! Likes it’s crazy serious!
Frightenheimer
Roger was the best character in the show. It is really hard to add a new character to an iconic group without it feeling too crowded or unnecessary, but from the moment Roger first appeared, he immediately fit into the M.I.F.T. team! He was hilarious, passionate about Monsters Inc. (despite his father's history there), and in the final battle against Randal, it really felt like he wasn't even a new character, but a character we have known for a long time. And I absolutely LOVE how they brought back the scream extracter, not for evil, but for saving the city
Roger was awesome. I think a lot of that comes from the Rhys Derby who plays him such a wonderful performance
The second season really allowed us to see more of the world of monsters at work
Yeah definitely good world building
Season 2's finale can basically he summed up as "MIFT stops the monster world from experiencing a Chernobyl of it's own"
🤣🤣🤣 pretty much! Hope you enjoyed the video!
Season two genuinely made me jump out of my chair at certain moments. Those last few episodes legitimately could have been a movie sequel.

Nope, he’s just as much as a pain in the ass as he was 20 years and 200 pounds ago at MU!
Good I’m glad you love it! Yeah a lot of shows have an okay first season and then knock it out of the park with its second season

Tylor = Sully
Val = Mike
Ben = Boo
Johnny = Waternoose
Chet = Roz
Randall = Randall 😂
XD
You think Sully had his issue of coming into College with everyone just expecting big things out of him, just amplify that right there.
from the first couple minutes of the first episode of season 2 i could already there was a different more fuller vibe to it and i knew i was going to love it. the addition of the family, new locations, people from the past, new people, the married news anchors (which i loved), really added to the world building! it was more satisfying than the first and managed to build on everything that came before it like you said.
@@butterflybe3 yeah I was the same. They really improved in every way! Hope you enjoyed the video!
The end credits of Monsters University shows us through the scarer cards that another rival company called "Scream Industries" exists. Maybe Season 3 could focus on that company and get Randall involved in some way since he did escape prison.
The next big thing that I want to happen is the Oozma Kappa returning, along with Hardscrabble
I would love to see them interact with Mike and Sully again. I could see the Oozma Kappa members adapting to jokesters

I agree on all points you discussed. Roger was easily my favorite character, very much reminiscent of Wander (from Wander Over Yonder), the development of the characters was astounding. I especially adored Duncan though he was a character I initially hated at first. His lines were gut bustingly hilarious.
Yeah i thought Duncan was fine in season 1 but so much funnier in season 2. Hope you enjoyed the video!
I’ve got some ideas for season 3:

1 a) They could make it so that which ever team wins gets two tickets to Harry Hausens.
It would be really funny if they made an episode where they tried to make a play called ‘New Canisters’ with Sully to direct and Mike to do his ‘New Canister Dance’. 6.
I’m glad they brought Randall back 🙂

I had three possibilities:

Johnny fooled me i thought he redeemed himself
The scenes that made me sad were Tylor getting accused and fired and Tylor scare Ben which reminded me of when Sully scared Boo
You know it's bad enough that Johnny was such a bully to Mike back at University but stealing laugh power and making Monsters Inc look bad is too far!
@@theaveragecritic3308 great quote from Captain America! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
@@theaveragecritic3308I agree, ever since Zootopia shipping has gone way out of hand.
@@brianachim2670 especially now that people are hoping for Judy and Nick to become a couple in the sequel
@@lexramstudios1386 I know, that’s like the biggest ship ever. Honestly I just want to see them again, as friends is preferable.
Did I just hear that Gunnery Sgt. Buck voices Johnny? That's kinda epic
@@winSonoma I haven’t played Halo! But yes good old Nathan Fillion voices him!
I feel like we’re not going to get a 3rd season due to viewership
I honestly wasn't a big fan of Monsters at Work season 1 but season 2 blew me away. I just love this franchise in general. They did an incredible job making season 2, I really hope they make a season 3. Btw, Monsters University is MY FAVOURITE MOVIE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD, I literally mean it, that movie really inspired me and made me feel connected to it in a way that I have never felt about any movie before. I love Monsters at Work and Monsters University!!!
@@Michael-hr4zc awww that’s awesome! The best movies are ones that inspire us. Hope you enjoyed the video!
I finished the 2 seasons im waiting for season 3 pleaseeee 🥺🙏🏻 its sooo good i actually love it.
I really liked this season. I felt for Tylor, I know what it’s like to work somewhere that doesn’t allow you to use all your talents and to want a more financially stable job. I hope there’s a season 3 but I’m not holding my breathe.
Yeah I know that feeling too! Glad you liked the season as much as me! You never know season 3 might happen
@@theaveragecritic3308 A mentor how exactly?
@@brianachim2670 dunno. Feels like a nice step in the right direction. He’s been the newbie, the resident. Now to be the wise man passing the torch
Honestly some episodes, I'm surprised it's a kids show. An episode about dinner with a boss? Learning to accept career changes? Working for a company that is starting to resent you for looking for alternative work? Absolute mastery.
I know right like the actual plot is very adult!
I really liked how this season connected the show & both films together. Fan discourse always made it feel like all three of them were separate entities/universes, but it genuinely felt like the plot elements & characters just blended everything together and summed up the themes of both films in the best way possible
I already liked season 1 since Tylor’s story and the transition to laugh power felt relatable between the wave of layoffs and the aftermath of the pandemic, but season 2 took everything I liked about season & cranked it up to 11
I love Tylor and Ben's relationship. If they make a Monsters at Work season 3, I really hope Boo returns, as she is such a great character.
Just watched it and gotta say it was way better than expected.
Spoilers
Sully's talk about Boo from season 1 was one of my favorite parts of that season but the fact Tylor experienced that first hand was both great and heart breaking at the same time.
when I watched the series, I could tell this season was most likely going to have Tyler question if he can be a jokester, get back to scaring, only to have to scare a kid that he knew (likely Ben) and then feel bad about that and not want to scare anymore.
I wasn't sure if Roger was a red herring and there was someone else doing the sabotage or a double red herring and they were getting us to believe it was just a red herring.
When you compare the voice work Mindy Kaling does in this show to Velma, it’s truly night and day
Season 2... we didn't expect it, we didn't ask for it, but when it arrived... my goodness!
It happens.
Absolutely we didn’t think season 2 but be much by such a surprise it was! Hope you enjoyed the video
John Ratzenburg will be back with Pixar starting with Inside Out 2.
…ironically though, Mindy Kaling won’t
I know! Shame she couldn’t. But new voice cast sounds good
This season gave us a lot of character arcs, and I feel the only reason why this season is more successful than the last season because season one did not had antagonist in season two and antagonists are Johnny and Randall and also it’s fan service to bring back Randall for the show we throughout the monster world like waternoose and Johnny but Randall is the real criminal mastermind I look forward to see him as the main antagonist for season 3
Yeah that is true there was no antagonist in season 1. A story is as only good as its villain!
@@theaveragecritic3308 Randall was not the one behind Fear Corporation, it was Johnny.
Movies: Dreamworks > Pixar
Shows: Dreamworks < Pixar
Same here glad you liked it! I know everything just seemed more refined
@@datprawn4850 I’m not bothered. I’ve never seen Legend of Korra. And with regards to this show it doesn’t really matter and the story was fun! 😁
yeah. They literally interrupted Tylor's apology scene just to show something that never needed to be in the series in the first place. The last 2 episodes gave me Camp Cretaceous season 5 flashbacks, another show where insetting a random gay ship was completely unnecessary
@@theaveragecritic3308 same here!
As a Star Wars fan, I love Roger Rogers as a probably unintentional reference to the battle droids!
I know I always thought that! I like to think there’s a Star Wars fan at Pixar hahah
I’m betting a season 3 is happening
I initially ignored the news about the show’s second season as I thought that the first was just meh at best. But… WOW. This season blew me away quite a bit with aspects such as the drama between the characters that had my heart racing. I ain’t exaggerating when I say that the scenes involving Ben in the final two episodes made tears roll out of my eyes in two different ways (🥺 and 🥹), and I wasn’t even thinking about THAT scene in Monsters Inc.
Also, good for Cutter and Sunny 😊👍🏽
I know same! Like it was such a lovely and honest friendship it was great!
I know literally I didn’t think it was going to be so good! Hope you enjoyed the video my friend!
I'd think the show has gotten more better in it's second season and I've liked Monsters At Work from it's first season
This season definitely improved on what made the last one good as well as adding more to the world of monsters inc and the last 2 eps were definitely the best eps of the seasons in my opinion and if it gets a third season i hope they keep it up with the quality
I like this show but I don’t know if its needed a 3rd season.
AT Least Mindy Kaling as Val is a much better character as Val then that God Awful Velma series
Facts! One show has her play a literal monster on the outside who's sweet and friendly while the other show has her play a figurative monster on the inside who's anything but sweet and friendly.

Good glad you enjoyed it! So did I! Hope you enjoyed the video!
A lot of shows are like that
And what about the plotwist of Randall's Comeback (reprised by Steve Buscemi)?
Were you surprised?
Omg literally! Also bless Steve Buscemi I didn’t think it was him. He’s obviously got a lot older since the last film because I didn’t think it was him. But still was awesome that it was!
I’m more surprised we got to see more of his college life after he flubbed the games in the university movie, he went from freshman noob to frat bully in those 4 years
I wasn’t crazy about how everyone just turned on Tyler when he thought he was trying to figure out the big problem. Other than that I really enjoyed the season.
Good Review Buddy!
Thank you! Appreciate the view!
What about the return of Randall Boggs? I’m as shock and surprise as you are.
I know it was good seeing him!
@@theaveragecritic3308 My head canon for many years was that the Swamp Family sold him to a circus after they discovered he could talk as well as turn invisible and change colours. In where he's the star attraction called "The Talking Alligator who can Turn Invisible and Change Colours".

Season 2 was great. My only issue was its final episode. The pacing was too fast, and they rushed in some last minute exposition. It didn’t ruin the season, it just felt poorly executed. Other than that, it’s a 9/10 season. Massive improvement!
Yeah to be fair I can see what you mean. I suppose they’re only 30 minute episodes. But glad you liked it!
