My first show was Binghamton NY 92! Most life changing experience I’ve ever had. These gentlemen shaped my entire adult life. I’m at 146 shows now… and counting! I still have my ticket stub. Union College Schenectady was where I got hooked. And Great Went- well- I’m glad there was no internet back then.

7/11/92 HORDE Tour was my first Phish show ever. I was hooked from that moment on.
    32 years, 100 shows later I'm still a diehard.
I just got back from Mondegreen a little sore and battered but still enjoying this incredible journey with my musical heroes.

I backpacked across Europe Spring/Summer of '92 (coincidentally). We saw every show except London. There were only a few Americans at the shows, maybe 7 or 8 of us total.-- Shout out to the others who chewed the same fat: Barry, Sandro, Jack, ChowderHead, Joe and Nicole -if you guys are reading this...WHAT UP!!! I remember Trey walking around after some of the Indoor venues handing out cassette tapes of "Picture of Nectar" to the Europeans. Great moment in Phish History. ---Awesome to have been there.

THANK YOU for this. I've always preached 92 as the year that sent me head over heels for Trey and Phish. My first show was August 92 in SoCal, followed by a few that summer of Phish opening for Carlos. It was a magical time. Especially for a budding guitarist like myself.

The grunge era really blew up in 1992 but I was already into the organically growing grassroots northeast improv rock scene. There was so much building energy going on at that time that got almost no mainstream coverage. Bands like The Ominous Seapods, Blues Traveler, Moe., Donna the Buffalo, Conehead Buddha, Deep Banana Blackout, Widespread Panic, Moon Boot Lover, Mexican Mud Band, Percy Hill, God Street Wine and more were all over the place at that time. It was like an underground movement with a loose coalition of semi like minded bands. Phish, Blues Traveler and Spin Doctors seemed to be leading it from my perspective but Phish was pretty far ahead even so. They just had the "it" factor and it was pretty obvious even if their music wasn't mainstream. Their ferocious improv couldn't be found by any other band imo though I've run into people over the years that have said Blues Traveler were actually better for a period of time in the 90's. Maybe but I doubt it. Phish in the 90's was putting out creatively explosive music in a muscular way. It was powerful and fresh. I don't think you could find better from any other band, artist or musical genre then.

Trey told the crowd they were going to release an album with nothing but different live versions of Dog Log and that he wanted to record some of them at that show. So he he told us to all boo them on queue when they stopped playing one version. Then they played another version later and told us all to scream like crazy and then immediately go silent on queue. Of course there was no Dog Log album. 🤣 They were totally messing with us.
    I was hooked for life.

Montreal Dec. 13 1992 - Phirst show. Incredible way to open the gate to my favorite world. Everyone seemed like a player in a play, perfectly playing an important part/role visually from the Gamehendge tales. 3/4 New England heads, lots of friends / girlfriends of the band. We took some juicy white lightning doses on the drive in from Ottawa. PEAKING! After all the hallucinations, manic music and cosmic connection.....they played "Harry Hood" towards the end; we were way up front but not bouncin', just soaking it all in with amazement. That was the moment I / we , earned out permanent passes alongside Bill & Jill on the highway through the Great Divide.

The only person outside of the active military who we should insist retain the right to fire a machine gun is Trey, and '92 is defense for that argument; particularly three moments you cite in this video but people should listen to in full: Weekapaugh 3/20, Possum 5/17, and the YEM jam w/ Santana 7/25.
They primed the pump for me to start seeing them in '93, and that (particularly the Hood in Atlanta, Roxy in '93) ensured the snowball would still be rolling until today.

I'd love to hear more jams like that. I know it wasn't popular when released, but that style of Phish jamming has always been my favorite.
