The new Magic Keyboard with Touch ID can finally be purchased without buying an iMac. Do you plan on getting one or what keyboard do you use? Thanks for watching as it is always appreciated.
Was debating wether or not to get one for my MacBook (16 inch) since I frequently use it on my TV through HDMI, I don’t always have my Apple Watch on my wrist or sometimes it fails to unlock so I thought this would be great for my specific use case, thought it’d be a great upgrade once they release a space grey/black version and give my old Magic Keyboard to my dad or something, guess that won’t be happening anytime soon. Thanks for the great, comprehensive video!
Are you able to turn on your Mac with the Touch ID button? I'm using my Macbook mostly docked and find it cumbersome to have to open the Mac to start it.
The iMac Magic Keyboards have always been so good to use. I love the feel of them and really miss it on my old iMac, but I have gotten used to the butterfly keyboard over time too
Damn. I had no idea it was already out. I’m not planning on getting one, but I’m going to watch cause there’s not one zollotech video I don’t enjoy. This is the first review I am seeing on the new Magic keyboard
Thank you. Was struggling to setup Touch ID. 4:24 revealed that it isn't compatible with my current device (2021, Intel MacBook Pro). Lesson learned, need to check compatibility before purchasing. Could've saved myself $50. Not the first time I made this error; once bought a Satechi USB-C hub for a Windows laptop without realising it was made for Mac only.
Backlighting is one trick too many for the Magic Keyboard in 2021. Also: TouchID - why not on the topmost right of the numeric pad?? Awkward placement.
In the video you connect the keyboard with a non-M1 macbook pro with the cable or via bluetooth? Looks like it's through a cable from the video. My concern is that my macbook air (intel chips) doesn't have a usb-C port and was wondering if it can be paired with the Touch ID keyboard through bluetooth.
Hi. Does it work with iPad when used with Bluetooth? I have an iPad 9th gen with lightning port and I'm wondering if the one without the numeric keyboard will work.
I love the touch ID. I have an Apple Watch, but you have to double press it to unlock the Mac or passwords or whatever else. With touch ID, you don't have to move at all. Your fingers are right where the Touch ID is.
I was going to buy this keyboard for my M1 Mac Mini until I discovered Touch ID only signs in if your machine is locked or in sleep mode. It will not sign in on a cold boot. My Lenovo laptop that is a few years old has had this feature via Windows Hello for years. Heck it even powers on and signs in at the same time. I will continue to use my Apple Watch for this feature.
@@tim8767 Seems like a huge oversight because the M1 Macs have a secure enclave built into the SOC so I see no reason for the fingerprint reader to not log you in on a cold boot. One can hope it is patched in down the road.
Does a single charge last only a few weeks for the new one? I have the old full sized magic keyboard and I charge it once every 3 months, and I use it daily. This is a big deal. Charging interval from several months to several weeks seems to be a big regression.
In my opinion, Apple should place the separated trackpad in the keyboard on the area of numbers which is in the right on the keyboard. In a laptop, keyboard and trackpad stand together. What do you think Aron? BTW, love your review.
Curious about whether the Touch ID works when not connected to a computer? Saw some reviews where they said it had to be connected? that would be a bummer if so.
IT NEEDS A BUILT-IN PRINTER SANDWICHED BETWEEN IT'S COMPONENTS. PAPER CAN BE LOADED INTO IT FROM THE TOP WHEN READY TO PRINT. IT NEEDS CAMERAS AND SENSORS AND A 360° LASER-KEYBOARD/TRACKPAD/DISPLAY EMITTER SO THE USER HAS A DISPLAY WHEN 1 IS NEEDED AND YOU ARE ALLOWED MULTIPLE KEYBOARD TYPES AVAILABLE FOR THE USER TO USE BY USING THE LASER-KEYBOARD. THE 360° LASER-KEYBOARD/TRACKPAD/DISPLAY EMITTER SYSTEM COULD ALSO PROVIDE A LASER-DISPLAY STRIP AS WELL IF PREFERRED.
Good unboxing mate ! A nice keyboard , but as an old Geezer with so so eyes , i would prefer the old one with black keys with white writing on the keys , and while having touch ID is very nice indeed , is it true there is no back lighting ? How can this be so on a " Magic Keyboard " ?
So apart from the Touch ID. There aren’t any other features or differences from the previous generation Magic Keyboard? What about the Bluetooth connection. Is it 5.0?
I recently bought the Apple Magic Keyboard with touch ID. My Mac is one year old, but I can not use the touch ID. It recognizes the keyboard, but in the Preferences does not show the touch ID. What is wrong? Thank you for help in me.
Typing experience on this keyboard is closer to what you feel on flat screen, than on real keyboard, however touch ID is great great addition, fingerprint scanner should be already on the MX Mechanical from Logitech.
Aaron, there is also a new Apple keyboard with no Touch ID. Instead of a Touch ID key it has a lock symbol. I would love to see you demonstrate what that does.
although I would have loved to have gotten a backlight with this keyboard, I do find it as a good option and personally one of my favorite keyboards to use on my mac mini. maybe next time we will get the option
We're literally telling Apple how they can make more money without even as much as lifting a finger and ironically, they're just not listening to us…just make the padless keyboard in space grey and you can even sell it for $50 more and people would STILL buy it cuz that's how badly we want a TKL space grey Apple keyboard.
I would really, really appreciate a backlit keyboard at this stage too. I recently had to replace a magic keyboard for my M1 Mac Mini. Shame I couldn’t have waited for this. If this new keyboard had a backlight I’d have bought it anyway. My iPad Pro 2021 magic keyboard has a backlight, but not my Mac magic keyboard.
$50 more?I paid $300 for my cute little iPad Pro 11 version.thing is awesome.. no numeric pad,the numbers are the top row of keys. And it’s Space Grey!😍
The only real benefit i see with this keyboard is the Touch ID functionality. I'm more inclined to go with Logitech's Craft keyboard that has the 'crown', programmable keys and backlit keys with sensor. It's also cheaper.
I have a blue iMac that I purchased at Best Buy. It only came with a regular blue key board. No Touch ID. Called Apple if I could buy one and the refused to sell me on. Now that it officially launched for purchase I called back and asked if I could buy a blue one for my iMac and they said no.

I use the magic keyboard for my iPad Pro

Beware, the Touch id function does not work with Intel macs
Nah. I use the Logitech Keys for Mac on my Mac mini. Maybe if they do space grey later.
As much as I like the design, for Apple's retail price it ought to have backlighting.
Are you able to turn on your Mac with the Touch ID button? I'm using my Macbook mostly docked and find it cumbersome to have to open the Mac to start it.
I am wanting to know this also.. can you turn on the mac with this keyboard touch id button? same button on the new macbook turns the mac on.
The iMac Magic Keyboards have always been so good to use. I love the feel of them and really miss it on my old iMac, but I have gotten used to the butterfly keyboard over time too
Try Connecting it to M1 iPad Pro.. I want to see if it works. Thanks for the Video :)

I love that subtle curve on the buttons at the corners. Cute.
would really love to buy this braided lightning separately
It appears thinner AND shorter than the braided charging cord that comes WITH iMac
It’s so nice, and the black one is sexy af
Just ordered mine in black. Can’t wait
I ordered one yesterday and it arrives tomorrow. Looking forward to it! I'll miss my space gray though.
Wanted one but I'm not doing white. I'll wait till they come out with the black and/or gray version.
Hopefully they sell the braided cable by itself as well.
Does the fingerprint work on the login screen without a cable?
Going to pick one up for my Mac mini M1 cool
I just bought the black version for my new Mac mini
The touch id button seems takes the place of eject. I have M1 Mac mini and I guess it will work with it perfectly including touch id.
Glad they brought a stand alone touch I.d keyboard just hope in time we get the colour options.

I do not understand why you are using the cable since it is wireless keyboard if I am not mistaken!
The new Magic Keyboard w/TouchID is nice but the new rounded edge design does look as nice as the previous version.
The "Home", "End", "Page Up" and "Page Down" keys are arrow symbols on mine, not the words. Did they change it?
Just ordered MBAmidnight m2 base model with this keyboard in space gray with a black magic mouse, im so happy ! Had to save up for a looooooong time !
If this keyboard had a backlight, it would be the perfect keyboard for me
It doesn`t?
@@prismstudios001 no, mac’s magic keyboard never had a backlight and still don’t.
@@jsn593 sure could use it. dang, it`s gorgeous!Even though mine is relatively tiny, it`s freaking gorgeous
@@jsn593 when my grandpa got his, I assumed it would have backlit given the price, it was shocking to realize it doesn’t.
Backlighting is one trick too many for the Magic Keyboard in 2021. Also: TouchID - why not on the topmost right of the numeric pad?? Awkward placement.
I prefer the numeric keyboard.. Why are you plugging that keyboard in when it works wireless?
Is it bluetooth connected or required to use the cable all times....I think you just answered my question at 9:31. Thanks
Good review. So the keyboard is wired? Latency should be very minimal I surmise? Thanks
No, its wireless
So the lightning cable only charges the keyboard? There is no data that goes through the cable? That is it only connects wirelessly?
nice, I will be getting one of these in December
So much better than the small one whih is utterly abysmal

Amazing video Aaron keep up the greatest Tech videos
Would have liked to see you locking the iMac with the button then unlocking it
Seems very functional !
ALL I WANT IS THIS KEYBOARD RIGHT NOW
finally I've been waiting for this to buy individually
Hi. Does it work with iPad when used with Bluetooth? I have an iPad 9th gen with lightning port and I'm wondering if the one without the numeric keyboard will work.

yes, but not touch ID

Isn't it supposed to light up when you plug it in
Is the frame aluminum? I got one today and it feels like painted plastic as opposed to the old magic keyboards which was solid aluminum
Thanks for the video. Blessings on your day.
Great stuff thanks
How does it look with the Mac mini?
How does it compare to the new keyboard on the MPB 14 and 16? I'm quite enjoying that one.
Outstanding video!👍😊

what's the new shortcut to shutdown the computer with this keyboard.
The imac m1 comes with color braided lightning cable
Can it connect to more than 1 devices and just swap without the cable????

Nice review. What is the Model number for the Keyboard with the numeric pad with Touch ID?
Does it work with the Touch ID on the intel MacBook Pro or air laptop?
I really wanna upgrade, my magic keyboard 2 will sometimes not connect at all, it is very scratched up, and its bent in the middle
But there's no TOUCH ID on System Preference. Very frustrating, spent so much money, upgraded MacOS, can't see the icon. Any advice, Sir?
Useful video! Thank you!
Would it work on a windows laptop like I have a Mac and a PC and I hate the keyboard on my windows computer
Can i use this keyboard without a cable on my Macbook Pro 2021? Like through bluetooth

It’d be nice if I could use this with iPad Pro 2021
is this keyboard with illuminate ?

Does Touch ID work with an M1 iPad Pro?
Does it work with windows?
