  • I hope you enjoy this short video. This is one of the requested videos. Like i said at the beginning, FSL sensors can only be extended to the maximum of 15 days. Additionally, this method could stop working at any point. ( i will probably delete this video if that happens)

Location USA did get sensor to work for 14 days and about 14 hours. Used Glimp-S to start sensor and Glimp to read sensor with Blucon device. Glimp shows the 12 hours past 14 days in yellow. The end of life of the sensor will have the same result repeating. And a one hour start up time with Glimp as opposed to 12 hours. Just started the MiaoMiao today, much quicker connection and less problems with Blue tooth so far. Thanks again for your videos.

Thank you very much for the info! How did you learn about this? I have a lot of questions so I figure I can read on my own instead of bothering you. Some of my questions: 1) does it still work today with 14 day sensor? 2) If the sensor is already initiated using Abbot reader, is there no way to use Glimp with it anymore?

@@bobtan7187 Have not used for years since Abbott stopped use of algorithm by other apps. Glimp and Libre to me were the best until the algorithm was not available anymore. May be that these other apps have overcome this issue. Currently I am using a weak signal strength Dexcom G6 and transmitter.

I came across Ambrosia’s Nightrider Blucon on my endo's advice. This when used with Libre Pro sensor allows you to get real-time readings and alarms of highs and lows. You can share your glucose readings with your caregivers and you can also pull out reports of last month or year. The best part is you don’t have to scan. Connects with Apple watch directly also. Highly recommended!

    **Edit (a day later)
I used Glimp which gave me an extra 19 hours. Interesting on top of the usual 14 days.
    Thanks for posting this.
I noticed also whilst searching that one can re tag which could also allow more time.... I've not tried it myself though it's another potential hack, useful of course for similar cercumstancess, maybe....

    Hi Nerdabetic,
I've managed to get on average, 8 extra hours out of Libres using a Miaomiao XDrip combo.. Based in the UK.
Before the readings on the graph just don't make any more sense.. Either going wildly skatty or on a repetition with the readings.
I can only guess that Abbott give it a reasonable 14 days before the body's immune system attacks the sensor seeing the cannula filament under the skin as a foreign body like a splinter or thorn?
The reasoning I can only guess for the 14 days or 10 days in other regions is a mixture of "built in obsolescence" & covering thier backs legally in certain regions like the states by moving the "goal posts" for our American friends..?
Lol, I've also tested the glue on the double sided tape before getting bored after 18 days, to date I've never lost a sensor. But then I place mine inside the arm.
    Regards.

Since the Blucon is able to extend the sensor, would it be possible for it to override the 12 hour start-up for the Libre here in the US?

    • @Nerdabetic
      @Nerdabetic  6 років тому

Thanks. and i dont think so because during that start-up process sensor is not actually releasing any correct glucose values. I've never even tried getting reading during that 1 h because its only 1 h. What i know is possible is that if you use old EU ( german, UK) reader on us sensor then you will get 1 h start-up and 14 days on the sensor. I hope that helps

What is a "old reader" ? Got mine 02/2017. German one.
If that thing works, you should check german ebay. Due to the free 14 day trial, where you got to keep your reader, there are tons out there from that time period and basically nobody uses it, as most german insurances actually started paying for dexcom and enlite before they did for freestyle libre.
P.S.: If the reader does actually determine sensor life, try the "Glimp S" app.
btw, I totally forgot Libre was 12 hours warm up. That's crazy. I'm already annoyed by 2hrs warm up on dexcom once a week.

This really surprises me! Because I live in Japan and our sensors start transmitting data in an hour after activation. Also I have not noticed much difference between a finger prick test and my Libre values. Of course, this is somewhat relative, as I have noticed a few times a difference of maybe 15. But for me this didn’t cause any problems. Also this is not often.

actually, the Libre 1 senor (EU-version) can be restarted and lasts for additional 14 days beyond the factory 14, so about 28 days in total. The extension duration varies, but the sensor usually gives correct readings in the first 7 to 10 days after restarting, sometimes up to the 14th day. The Libre 2 sensor, however, cannot be restarted / extended beyond the factory 14 days. This is the main reason Abbott retracted the Libre 1 sensors and stopped manufacturing them, cuz, why lose money? There are some side effects to using this method though, like skin irritation from wearing the sensor for nearly a month, but it's better to spend 60 EUR for a month, than 120...
