Well, THE SHOW Rhaenys (do not confuse with BOOK Rhaenys, who is nothing like this) was fleeing back to Dragonstone, to the sea, when Aemond's Vhagar ambushed her! So, she did not bow... for a while...! Then, when Maelys gave her the DEFEATED look, Rhaenys turned around and fled into the sea...! That is NOT what BOOK Rhaenys did! Yet again, the book far better than the show!

She did not want to wage war against her kin. She accepted Viserys as king against her husband's demands. And she died a honorable death as a dragon rider would. Great character!👏

Rhaenys wanted to avoid war just as much as Rhaenyra up to the point where it was unavoidable! She sacrificed herself trying to take out Vhagar alone so that no further bloodshed would happen! She was trying to protect her granddaughter Baela and stop her from going into battles! What a brave woman!

Meyles you were the bravest dragon in Westeros and Rhaenys being the greatest rider knew that. You didn't fail you became a legend to be remembered forever old girl Rhaenys you are the rightful queen and that is a hill I will gladly die on
She had the chance to stop everything before it even started; she had shown mercy, but unfortunately, her enemies are not so noble.
Her mercy killed thousands of people including Rhaenyra son
she also has no mercy when it comes to burning soldiers alive, for me it is a huge mistake starting point of the greatest catastrophe of the Targaryen family.
Rest well to Rhaenys, the Queen the realm deserved and Meleys, the Red Queen. Both died as brave Boss Ladies

She would have been a great ruler in my opinion better than Viserys, Daemon, Rhaenyra, Aegon and Aemond such a shame

Queen that never was knew that realm will not accept a queen no matter what and that queens will never be, there will always be those who strongly refuse , she fought for her dream and died for it
It’s funny because next episode everyone is going to rise up against the greens for parading meleys around because in truth everyone respected rhaenys and this also gave the small folk the ability to go after the dragons and kill them because they saw a dragon can be killed.
A dragon killed by another dragon. Ordinary people couldn't kill dragons unless they were someone like Aragorn or Legolas. Storming the Dragonpit was always far-fetched.

My gosh, this is such a beautiful tribute to her. I knew her death was coming but I wasn’t ready. Eve did an incredible job playing Rhaenys. ❤️

What a great edit! That part where Meleys turns back to look at Rhaenys and how you edited the scenes where Rhaenys said she wouldn’t leave Meleys and then harnesses herself fully in killed me 🩵 RIP to them both! They will be missed 😢

Without knowing the storyline one already does notice how great a moment this was. It's one of the true stories for any bard to recount to make his or her people survive the worst

its very rare for me to dislike a character and almost 2 season later cry for their deaths. She was elegant, wise and fierce. I am so sorry I didn't see it earlier.
For the video to be perfect, it should have included the scene where Meleys ripped Vhagar chest and knocked her to the ground.

Can someone explain why Rhaenys didn't just turn around and left after she defeated Sunfyre? There was almost no chance she could defeat Vhagar alone, and she knew it

Really cool episode, but from a tactical level it was incredibly stupid for Rhaenys to throw hers and Meyleys life away fighting Vhagar, knowing full well they couldn't win alone. She should have retreated, regrouped with Daemon & then with Caraxes they both could take on and defeat Vhagar.
She lost her Son and Daughter and her man Cheated whom she deeply loved I mean..she was ready to go for the greater good
If medleys comes back with Caracas. They could destroy vhagar

What was the sacrifice for? After the first clash she could just went back to Dragonstone with the mission pretty much accomplished, and they pretty much knew it was a trap and only sent her... I know the books had it this way but they could changed it abit
Cole and Aemond will burn the castle at Rook's, and possibly follow to Dragonstone short after because it'll be clear that the Blacks still don't have an army. Also, time and time again they remind Rhaenys of her "fault" for "running away" when she could've killed them. This time won't be it.
@@alexonodera1175 After killing Rhaenys, what stops Aemond from burning the castle down? Its the same thing, just couldn't stop it dead or alive, might as well recover and we would keep one of the best characters, altough people need to die to make an impact and for the story to continue...
Rhaenys should had been the queen of the seven kingdoms.
Yeah, she was caught by Vhagar fleeing to Dragonstone, so she attacked before because she had no choice: had Rook's Rest fallen and Rhaenyra just fleeing the scene without a GOOD reason, Rhaenyra would have GRILLED her, probably worse!...The look Maelys gave her was very telling, she was hurt and in no shape to fight, hence why Rhaenys decided to go back into the sea, back to Dragonstone! But Vhagar ambushed her by hiding in the cliffs behind the castle! Now, that looks like Aemond's plan! How he managed to get there out of Rhaenys' sight, everyone feel free to speculate, but the point is she did not go out a hero at all! Nobody dies a hero by FLEEING! In that sense, the show YET AGAIN doing a complete DISSERVICE to BOOK Rhaenys, who, INDEED, went out like a champ, a fool but yet a champ!!

Viserys aurait dû écouter Rhaenys et épouser Laena car je suis sûre que c’était sa façon de protéger le royaume. Laena n’aurait pas eu d’enfant avant très longtemps et même si par la suite elle aurait un fils, jamais Rhaenys n’aurait trahi le choix de Viserys de garder Rhaenyra héritière. Donc pas de guerre civiles et ils s’entende tous ensemble Targaryen et Velarion.

IMO it was a stupid decision of her to fight vaghar, she had allready taken down a dragon and their king, now she had the chance to leave but she turned around to fight. If she had left they would be up another dragon and a good dragon rider.

to all the people saying she should have gone with daemon and kill aemond here is the thing vhagar was in kingslanding a dragon battle between meleys carraxes and vhagar would result in the complete destruction of the capital which is not what either sides want and some of you might say we dont care about the small folks well then dont care when meleys burst opened the dragon dome and killed hundreds of people and also she could have killed the greens but as much as the blacks hate the greens they are still her extended family and kinslaying is a mark no one wants to cross well maybe daemon she would rather face them in battle then kill them all off true badass and even though she died she did it in a badass way true legend and also she is the queen who never was she bows to no one let alone follow daemon and even with carraxes and meleys the outcome is still bleak as vhagar is the LARGEST dragon she would rather follow the queens orders rhenyras orders and part of me wants to belive that she knew this battle was gonna turn out brutal and thus volunteered to go then let syrax or vermax go which they would not stand a chance against not even sunfyre let alone vhagar she bows to no one and you expect her to flee at the sight of aemond hell no she would rather die and i know some yall thinking that dumb that stupid well she is a more skillful rider than both aegon and aemond yes i know most of you say weElL iF sHe WaS suCh a SkillFUl rider why did she die firsly she fought off two dragons at once second one of them was the largest dragon in the known world meleys is the fastest dragon but vhagar purely used her size against her that is not aemond being a good rider yes i know he did a little sneak up on her but meleys did that to sunfyre meleys and rheanys has a stronger bound as we see aemond can barely control his 184 year old nuke rheanys has experience and matureness and had it been vhagar alone she might have stood a chance but not sunfyre and vhagar and also could we just agree her confidence as she knows she can beat sunfyre him and aegon are not the problem meleys and them can swipe them out with a breeze hhe
Short answer: Rhaenys and Meleys were both exhausted and hungry for patrolling the seas while the blockade was still unfinished in Driftmark. She and her dragon would only be a casualty if they joined Daemon with that condition.
