As silly as this sounds I truly wonder if the fellow operating this 537 knows what he is doing? The 537 does have all wheel drive and it has diff locks on every axle, why this driver isnt using that I have no clue?

It have all of it. 8x8 axles was grouped in two, and there were high friction diff for front and autodifflock for rear axels. Maybe there is technical falure on thoose maz. Maybe they try to save fuel, coz thoose monster eating about 60 liters... of oil on 100km and 130L of gas
@@aviwol3177 no technical failures there, also its not about fuel savings. The thing is, its not ment to be a trial truck. Its predecessor was the MAZ535, wich was designed to be a heavy arillery mover. The military needed a stronger one, capable to tow the new 100 ton ballistic missiles at the support regiments, and transport ~50 ton MBTs of the tank regiments (to save tanks operational hours), this was the MAZ 537. Ment for harsh environments. Snow, bad/no roads, hill climbs. You dont want to go mudtest a 100 ton extremely expensive balllistic missile :D. I believe its true test of capability would be like how well it preforms offroad with a trailer a T-55 tank on it, not "naked". Im bsolutely sure the designers tested its offroad potential for this situation, cos it will likely face obstacles loaded. Its chassis was used for many utility and special rescue, and even makeshift airplane mover. There are several sketches and blueprints on the net about its drivetrain, if you examine it closely you will see its beauty is in its simplicity. Easy to maintain and easy to manufacture (much easier than the tank it transported). Easily the best example for this: its rear suspension is a giant polygonal torsion bar :)

У 537 принудительная блокировка только между передней и задней тележкой. В раздаточной коробке. Межколёсная блокировка автоматическая!!

Служил в ГСВГ в 48-й брмо, Куммерсдорф -Гут. Рядом с нашей бригадой была рота тяжелых машин, вот такие 537 тягачи, не один ли из них на видео?
