    FYI - This wasn’t a review. I was just sharing how excited I was about printing fast with my K1. My X1 gives me so many errors I just can’t get into it. But I especially like the price wars because it will get more people into 3D printing who don’t want to hack an Ender 3. It’s been a lot of fun playing with the K1.

    I just bought the K1, really high quality unit , zero assembly , literally take it out the box, remove he packing and print. Amazingly fast and accurate. I cannot speak highly enough of this little monster of a printer. AND DID I MENTION FAST. I have 7 3D printers but this is really next level, when you consider a Prusa 3 would cost you significantly more and the Prusa is toy compared with this

      The Prusa MK3 is relatively cheap to come by these days. Especially when buying used. ;o) Maybe you meant the MK4?
      but i dont get why speed is suddenly sooo important?! I guess many 3D printers are standing still during the night and the best part of the week. So there would be plenty of time to print things in between.
      So is speed really the most important thing, especially for twice the price of a Sovol SV07

      A new Prusa Mk3 delivered is $1130 plus AU$ with a two week delay before shipping. That's over $300 more than I paid for the K1 or in real terms 40% more.
      The print quality on the K1 is second to none and thats at 300mm/sec , so there is no trade off between speed and quailty. Sovol missed the boat when they came out with the SV 07 , it should of been the same as the SV 06 but with the same bearing rods as the SV06 plus for great stiffness. I have both the SV06 nd the SV06 plus which are by far the best budget printers. But the SV07 is a step backwards for Sovol. I want to see a bed slinger with 2000mm / sec acceleration. It would rip the print off the best. Its that fast you literally cant see it move from one part to the next, its just a blur

    I went with the P1S but this current race is great for consumers and the industry. If we want 3D printing to be mainstream, which it will be in a few years, this is how it’s going to happen. We need speed with quality and all for a reasonable price. Can’t wait to see what’s released next.

      Speed maybe not the thing people are looking for. Because you can always print over night ... but reliability, easy to use and easy maintenance should be a mayor selling point, especially in the 2nd or 3rd iteration of the product after the first generation failed and got broken and people figured that repairability is a necessity.

      I think people massively miss what Bambulab really brought to the table. Speed was already possible. High quality was possible. Exotic materials (undrler 300 c) was possible. Instead they packaged that up into an accessible machine and added features that made it pain free to use.

    What is never mentioned (except by CNC Kitchen who actually ran this test) is the strength you sacrifice when printing so fast. The plastic needs time for the heat to melt into itself and bond properly for good strength. If you're printing models then all is fine, but if you need strong parts, you're layers may let you down because they aren't properly fused together.
    Also, your prints are only going to be as good as your filament. Many people assume spending lots of money means better quality an precision. It puts you in a better position to achieve it, but many tinkerers know how to get the best from their machine with a certain brand of filament. It's not always going to be like that though because many manufacturers, particularly Amazon sellers, change their stock to more and more shoddy materials and still sell under the same guise once they got a highly positive review count. I say that people need to really ask themselves if it's worth it for them, and temper their expectations. I'm keeping my A10M for now. It's small enough and lightweight to put away when I'm not using, and I can run it while watching TV without getting a headache. It's reliable and simple and I can access everything as problems arise

    • @hassosigbjoernson5738
      @hassosigbjoernson5738 Рік тому +2

      The point simply is: you CAN go fast, if you want to. Like with big projects.
      But you dont have to!
      What is a bummer to me is: none of this "speed" printers has a "silent and slow" mode integrated which turn down the fans and the speed to actually print in your living room without the noise. But since you can adjust the printing speed in the slicer: you can actually go slow if a part needs the strength or something.

    • @ed3dnet
      @ed3dnet Рік тому +2

      Partly true, but in my tests you can get away with fast printing for more than just models. I print a lot of tool holders that do have some static forces applied to them and they're fine; so long as you're thoughtful about your layer orientation (which you need to be anyway) it's a relatively moderate challenge.

    • @ArcanePath360
      @ArcanePath360 Рік тому +1

      @@hassosigbjoernson5738 I'm aware you can slow it down and not get the violent sounds, but my question then becomes.... what are you paying for? Don't get me wrong, having the option to go fast would be great, but I feel that people need to temper their expectations. I recently learned that as great as Bambu Labs latest offerings appear to be, they aren't infallible, and many reviewers show off models that look awesome, because of the way they light them. When others show the light directly from above, you still see the flaws in the layers that you see from much cheaper printers. I've also since seen that they still do spaghetti prints and get jams and clogs, despite having settings that are supposed to stop this. Many tinkerers are still playing with these expensive printers to get better prints from them. And some look much more difficult than basic printers to get apart when they go wrong.

    • @ArcanePath360
      @ArcanePath360 Рік тому

      @@ed3dnet Can I ask what speeds you get away with for such things? Not that tool holders need to be strong if we're talking about a few Allen keys and snippers. I'm talking about brackets such as those on a toilet seat, where people sit on it and put real strain on it. I print no faster than 28mm/s at 205c to get good strength and accuracy from PLA+ and they are stronger than the broken parts they replace. I also made a shower screen bracket which holds a massive curved glass door with standard PLA. These fixes alone have paid for my dual extruder printer.

    • @hassosigbjoernson5738
      @hassosigbjoernson5738 Рік тому +1

      @@ArcanePath360 "what are you paying for?" ... Well that would be the option to do it if needed.
      Just because a sports car can go fast it does not always need to! ;o)
      I do also like the design of these new, enclosed printers. They do look a lot better! And people are willing to pay for good design, too.
      You still can start with an open, cheap, much more simple machine like a Sovol SV06. And it's good you have all the options, I guess.
      And yes those machines are not perfect! A very good print also needs some good profiles and a bit of tuning. But don't get caught with high resolution and perfect lighting detail shots of prints! It's like looking with a microscope on things. After all FDM is not perfect.
      I also cannot understand why Bambu Lab and Creality do not implement a slower print profile ... maybe half as fast as the normal print speed but with less noise and maybe also an even higher quality. This is something I would go for! Make that printer a bit slower but also much more silent for every day printing, use the enclosed design with a filter like the nevermore to get rid of the fumes and if the time is tight have the option of printing load and fast.

      "no one else does" ... Is that so?!
      To be fair, other reviewers had a more in depth review and more pros and cons listed. But ALL of them liked some aspects of the machine.
      Take the review of "The 3D Printing Zone" ... just in the first 30 seconds he says, that he likes the machine but does not recommend it. Later on in most reviews the reason is clear: software. It is not as evolved as the software a Bambu machine runs. (Just remember that Bambu Studio slicer is a rip off of Prusa Slicer and they dont wanted to admit that in the first place .... month later they have)
      That problem was also addressed here, if you watch closely: Chuck says he does not like cloud and does not use the app and uses the good old USB drive instead. So it's up to you, what you make out of that.
      But all reviews I watched pointed out how impressive the hardware with that price point is! A week ago (before the Bambu P1s was announced) you had to get the X1C for like double the price to get such a fast, enclosed out-of-the-box machine, especially if you dont want to modify it (like enclosing the P1P).
      The "hope" here is that Creality goes all in with open source and commit to that! A simply accessible Klipper firmware and official profiles for the latest CURA slicer would be a huge improvement with this machine and a big plus over the closed source Bambu Lab printers.
      Creality is doing Creality things again and presented a not so polished product with the K1. But give it some weeks and most things are going to be improved, like the extruder issue most reviewers had with the first charge of machines.

    They are good printers when they work, when they don't then forget about help from customer services. I belong to a group of disabled pensioners here in the UK, we decided as our bodies weren't working we could at least keep our minds active. So we all (5 of us) decided we would like to do 3D printing. And as usual it's up to me to buy one for testing to show the others how to use them. Anyway it was decided to get an Ender 3 V2 Neo. When it arrived there was no tool kit to assemble it, so I had to go out to buy the Allen Keys. After assembly I noticed filament on the bed and nozzle. On trying out the printer it had a few faults, the levelling adjusters we tight as a drum and I it took ages to release them, the printer had other faults as well and didn't work. So I contacted their customer support and waited, and waited..............and nothing. After numerous complaints they eventually asked me to forward a copy of my receipt and a photo of the serial number on the printer, this I did and emailed them back. And once again no response at all. After more complaints they sent me an email saying "SORRY". And that was it, nothing else, no offer to replace the faulty pre used printer, just SORRY. So after some time the printer was sold as spares. We were going to buy a Bambu but funds are limited and we ended up with another Ender 3 V2 Neo, this time the Snips were snapped in two, so once again I contacted them and eventually they asked for a photo of the broken item. I couldn't believe it when the actually replaced them. The new printer seems to be working ok but looking at more reviews I find I may have made a terrible mistake. So we are looking at other printers and trying to find a reliable model that won't need upgrading soon after buying it. When anyone asks me I am saying to keep well away from Creality/Comgrow printers. Any ideas?

Seniors today will be deceased by the time printing doesn't require skills much more common to machinists and coders who are just as enthused with learning the machines and correcting garbage lazy design choices (which do not make the product cheaper to produce). The death of Western manufacturing means everything affordable will basically require a rebuild by technician skilled in relevant trades. W. Edwards Deming is a hero in Japan, not China.

    I have to point this out - it's astounding how this and other K1 reviews praise the K1 profusely, but the same reviewer slammed Bambu for things both printers have in common. You don't like the Bambu, but you like the Creality because it's open source? Creality Slicer is not open source. Bambu Studio is. Why do you trust Creality is going to make the printer firmware more open when they literally just patched the way people could actually make it open source and put a proper version of Klipper on it?! Meanwhile, Creality isn't publishing the source code for their klipper install, which is openly violating open source software licensing. You criticized the Bambu for not being open source hardware spec. Neither is the K1, but you apparently love it.
    If you're pro-open source, you should be slamming the K1 as an abomination considering your criticisms of the Bambu Labs X1 Carbon. If you don't like either one since open source is important to you, I get it. But this? C'mon man.

      Bambu Studio just "made" open source as people found out it was a rip off of Prusa Slicer.
      Are you really sure Bambu Lab is NOT using Klipper in the background? Because it's closet source nobody can tell.
      But yes, Creality is acting shady here instead of embracing open source and partnering with Klipper or the community. So I have the feeling they are doing the same thing that BL does.
      And no, I don't think that Bambu Lab reinvented what the Vorons and Klipper already achieved. They are just hiding it better.

Bambu Studio was such a good slicer, the community forked it in the form of Orcaslicer. Bambu Studio is no more a “rip off” of Prusaslicer than Prusaslicer was a stollen Slic3r. You’re spewing absolute nonsense. Bambu complied with open source licensing agreements other than they didn’t initially release the source code as soon as they should have, but they did release it. Creality still has not released their klipper source code they’re required to do, and Chep in the video also mentioned Creality Slicer is based on Cura which is also open source, and where’s the source code for Creality Slicer? You have zero proof Bambu’s printer firmware is based on Klipper. That is purely idle speculation. These two companies are not behaving the same way. @RoXolid I am also interested in multicolor printing but the price of that AMS is to high for me for "just having the option". I am also concerned about the waste issues with that AMS. In some cases it produces much more waste than the actual part itself.
      That why I am thinking about an IDEX machine like the Sovol SV04 IDEX. It reduces the waste because of dual tool head but is only giving 2 color option without changing filament in between. But it's significantly less poop which is a good thing. A manual change of filament during the print is also an option for me. Depending on the model and how it is positioned it would not be a problem if like 3 colors are needed and the last one only at the top...
      The multi toolhead system that Prusa is working on would be another option! But at what price?
      And there are concerns with Bambu Lab being closed source, which is a problem for the community I think! They used the PrusaSlicer for their own purposes which benefits also the more "user friendly" handling you mentioned ... but they are not giving anything back to the community and had to be pressured to make Bambu Studio also public on Github. If Creality also goes that route than 3D printing is changing.
      But since the AMS is a huge selling point for the Bambu machines ... there could be another manufacturer already be working on an alternative.

    I received my K1 Max this weekend. I did about 10 pints (Creality's Benchy, Standalone Spool Holder, and misc small stuff) in white Hyper PLA. I decided to try printing Overture PETG and my part printed with issues that look to me like part cooling issues. Basically, the part was oriented in the center of the build plate parallel to the front and back sides. The part cooling fan on the right side was blocked from object side walls to cool interior spaces.After finishing the print I retracted the PETG filament and sealed it up for the night. The next morning, I tried to print with Hyper PLA filament, but I could not extract it. After reviewing Creality's various repair videos, I removed the extruder and found nothing wrong. I moved onto removing the nozzle. Using Creality's supplied cleanout rod I could not feed it through the hotend from either the bottom or the top. After heating up the hot end (with the nozzle removed) I used the cleanout probe again and got some black PETG filament out but I still could not feed the rod all the way through. I used a lighter to heat up the rod and was finally able to clear the hotend or so I presumed. I replaced the nozzle and put the hotend back together. I printed a replacement spool holder with bearings in Amazon Basics PLA and all seemed well. The next day when using Amazon Basic PLA again I could not extrude filament. I removed the filament and the Bowden tube from the extruder. I reused the cleanout tool from the top side and found more filament blocking the throat of the unit. I heated up the nozzle but I still couldn't clear the clog from the topside. I heated the rod for a few seconds with a lighter and this cleared the clog (so I presumed). I was able to extrude Amazon Basics PLA so I started another side mounted spool holder. The first layers had some issues due to not enough glue stick being applied for the size of the part. The first layer wasn't perfect, but I let it go. After about 4 or 5 layers the printer speeded up printing of a cross hatch infill pattern. The cross hatches came out in blobs and didn't stick to the smooth layers printed previously. I stopped the print and decided to use Creality Hyper PLA. This turned out to be worse. First layers were better, but the high-speed infill layer didn't stick at all and globs of filament and small filament pieces were everywhere. The Lidar didn't stop the printing either (not sure if I need to turn it on or what). Looking at the Generic and Hyper PLA filament profiles provided in Creality print the speed for both profiles is identical (300 mm/s first layers, 300 mm/s outer wall speed and infill speed of 500 mm/s). I presume printing was failing at 500 mm/s - I was surprised to see the non-Hyper filament was configured to try using 500 mm/s. Anyway, I am going to try Creality's Benchy with Hyper PLA to see if my printer has a flow issue due to clog remnants. Sorry for the long comment. Keep up the good work. Perhaps some a speed test cubes are needed to tune filament profiles similar to temperature towers.

    • @davewilliams8050

      Benchy is printing fine so I just need to "tune" print speed for the side mount print holder I was trying to make. Oddly this is from someone who made it for their K1 printer. No comments were included with the model. Regarding the Lidar module. I don't see a what looks like a LED on the bottom of the Lidar unit lit. Perhaps when I replaced the nozzle I got the Lidar wiring reversed. I will check this out.

    Forgive my ignorance, but wouldn't everything be ok if say for example, I was to create tree supports in Cura...to a model at the correct size... then import it into Creality's slicer and go through the printing process that way.
    I have the printer on order as from today and as a workaround can't see why this wouldn't work... but I am new at this... Anyone?.. or is there now a slicer that may already support the tree support function that works with the K1?.

I've got an Ender V2 and I hate when I'm in a 3 hour print, something breaks at 2 hours and 45 minutes (Typically something to do with the filament, ranging from snapping to clogs). At least with this, if it supported OctoPrint, I'd be able to get down to 30 minutes before I realized something broke....

    I must say more than other videos this one bothered me in that it's directly sponsored by a Creality distributor then offers a glowing "review" of their printer which is a lower effort version of the actual innovator Bambulab.
    It says nothing of the ads in their app, their abuse of the klipper GPL license and purposeful attempts to hide it, their lack of anywhere near the software refinement in printer firmware, slicer software or app and the design flaws that have things like the lid popping off during printing.
    Creality has such a bad reputation for openly paying off reviewers (Tom S has directly talked about his experience and he is trust worthy), not crediting modelers they upload the content of, and being lazy in engineering it's agitating that with reviews like this that forget all their problems, they continue to be successful while being awful in many ways.
    At bare minimum though, I think this video deserves some sort of disclaimer with a sponsorship so closely linked with the company whose product is being "reviewed". That's just flying too close to the Sun for my taste.
