My first time playing this mission I was shit scared
Jackk TgF this is nothing compared to CE flood
Thistook2hours nah halo 2 flood was the worst. scary af especially on last gen
To Kackk TgF: same with me! And I was 5!
+Jackk TgF Halo 3 was the first halo game I played, and when I saw the flood, I was thinking "I think I've seen these creatures before"
Fallout 4 behemoth channel; wierd
It's crazy how moments after the Flood land in Voi, it's already a "blow up the entire city" situation
The entire continent, really. And that was a risky thing hold back that much.
@@thisisaname5589 Miranda: Destroy the city
Rtas Vadum: Haha that bitch gave me permission to glass the town, I'm going to glass half of the continent!
I'm just shocked that even the flood managed to overrun Kenya in just a matter of minutes, or am I missing something
To be fair, there was a solid two square kilometers of flood landing there armed to the teeth in a city full of dead bodies.
@@ketchup2147 probably did not left New Mombasa. Flood is just so much of the Red flag situation in Halo universe that they did it *just to be sure*
You know the flood is that bad of a threat when the situation is already a "blow up the city" situation and then your former enemies start helping you out
It still baffles me how Halo 3 visually still holds up so well almost 15 years later.
I was just thinking the same. But also maybe that tells us that not much has changed since then. There was a huge jump from Xbox/PS2 to 360/PS3. But I'm not seeing a huge jump from Xbox one/PS4 to Series X/PS5.
Looks like shit to me
@@ActionJacksonForever You have poor taste than
It's the bloomed lighting that helps it so much.
The power of in engine cutscenes baby. No whiplash going from pre rendered to in game like so often nowadays. Just a seamless experience. Plus in games like reach you can even see your custom armor. Can’t do that with pre rendering a cutscene without tremendous work.
Shout-out to Martin O'Donnell. That 'pulsating' theme is scary as all hell.
Ikr Marty did such an great job with all the music but Dread Intrusions and Gravemind are particularly amazing :D

Yay halo 3 yaaaay
I never played Halo 1 or 2 before Halo 3 so this mission scared the shit out of me.
+Ian Hines When I first played Floodgate, I knew The Flood were familiar to me when I saw them somewhere else
I remember only playing Reach with my cousin and not even knowing the Flood existed in Halo, so first time I played this my brain couldnt even comprehend what led up to this
@@tastefullythick7072 I first played halo reach then I played cea and was scared shitless when I saw the flood on Jenkins camera and started screaming when the small ones burst open the doors
Same here lol. My stepfather introduced me to Halo at age 8 with Halo 3, and he started laughing the moment the Flood ship crashed into Voi.
Arbiter: "My brothers, I fear you bring bad news."
Major Elite: "High Charity has fallen, become a dreaded hive!
Arbiter: "And The Fleet? Has quarantine been broken?"
Major Elite: "A single ship broke through our line, and we gave chase."
Arbiter: "But we had a fleet of hundreds!"
Major Elite: "Alas brother, the Flood... It has evolved!"
i hate being that guy, but the elite says "fetid hive"
Damn
well... at least they tried to contain high charity after tartarus was stopped?
6:11 that flood form was like screw this I'm out
He was probably saying "Oh this is loco".
Oh fuck is that the Chief? Naw I’m not beat for this shit.
His claw was gone, so he was like NOPE NOT TODAY
Me walking away from my responsibilities like
I have a challenge. Try not to let a SINGLE marine die in this Mission.
lol good luck, some of them are pretty much guarenteed screwed
That is so hard to do in halo
I did the same but on arbiters mission lol not let a single elite die
Aren't there scripted deaths?
@@goth.1e yes but sometimes it breaks and you can prevent this

I remember the dark times when I thought *this* was how they introduced the flood to the halo series. Nonetheless, this has to be the best version of the flood. In fact, I wasnt even scared of this level as a kid. The ones that got me were the massive "beehive"-like caves.
I was 9 years old and 3 was my first halo game. Having been an avid player of resident evil at that point, I was not a stranger to zombies.... But this... Seeing the one marine get swarmed and turned into a combat form... I fired my assault rifle until they stayed down
I was 8 at the time, same feeling, I also wouldn't touch the mission Cortana
Nah the best flood version are from HCE and H2. Those were a a pain in the ass
@@thepleb5652 halo CE for me. I liked the infinite spawning
I have the exact memory still in my head of me playing halo 3 with my older brother and i got to this mission and was terrified as soon as i dropped into the cave with all the fleshy stuff on the walls. I dropped the controller and my brother said he'd never let me play on his xbox again if i didn't keep playing 😂
12:16 It's nuts that the Elites had to glass _half a continent_ just to keep the Flood from turning Earth into a Keymind.
I think it was only New Mombasa only, Hood tends to use hyperbolic language
I miss when games could deliver a line like "we either destroy this city or risk losing the entire planet" and it would give me chills and feel like an actual threat.
Why are these graphics so amazing still !?
You forgot crysis.
This mission scared the absolute sh*t out of me as a kid, and it still really does.
Especially with the first submission titled "it followed me home"
Alas Brother, the flood it has evolved...
The Arbiter's quotes are always funny!
+Robert Peach elite's quotes is funny as arbiter
+Yohanes Evan My favorite is during this mission where he says "Make short work of this abomination". Every time I hear it cracks me up

I’m actually Glad I still play Halo 3, And a lot of people still actually play it. Floodgate is my Favorite Mission on halo 3
That cutscene at the end is amazing!
I want to go back to 2007 wait out side for 12 hours and play it for the first time again.
There is no turning back, Spartan.. You will forward to your future..
God, When I was little I was so scared of Playing this Level, I thought campaign meant Horror.
Campain
1:55 this part of the mission when you encounter the flood, and the soundtrack that starts with it, it just awesome! The soundtrack gives me PTSD vibes like a heart racing with pure adrenaline and as Chief answers arbiter's question: "worse" matches the soundtrack of your nightmares coming back to you while you just think "oh my god.. it's happening again," all the while under pure stress, fear, and a want/need for survival.
I wish this mission was twice as long. The atmosphere of this level is among the best of the Halo series
Respect for the marine who survived that grenade chief threw at him
I remember, I was playing this mission with my brother in difficulty legendary, and at this part 4:42 when the elites cmae to help, during the little cutscene the flood kill all and my brother was like NOOO WAYYY!!! THEY GOT KILLED BY THE FLOOD DURING THE CUTSCENE!!!! And trust me, they all died during the cutscene, bc it was in legendary, so me and my brother went to where the elites fell, and they were all dead and some of then already infected xd
I use to get sad when I saw the flood kill those elites lol
Yeah, the combat continues during the cutscene on legendary and they won't survive it. Though it is possible to save all of the elites on legendary if you skip the cutscene. I usually just fight with them into the building and then block off that one small door with a deployable cover. That way I can just kill everything else without them risking their life lol.
I dont remember much about this campaign. I was a little kid playing mostly multiplayer with my family or seeing them play, but one of the few missions I did play with my older brother was this one, and even now, 10-12 years later, I still remembered it vividly as soon as I remembered the Floods existence. Currently playing through the entire series campaign with MCC after only ever beating Halo 4 and 5 campaigns by myself; cant wait to reach this level.
This is basically COVID-19 lol.
15:27 When Johnson takes from the Elites, one goes to stop him and the other marines stand up to back him up.
When the Elite takes from the humans, they all stare but don't try to stop him.
I think that's a nice little comment on the power differences between the two races.
To be fair, I wouldn't want to mess with a 7ft tall alien armed with a double barrel rocket launcher and a flamethrower either!
I can see it crawling, sliding around beneath their SKIN, then they got up..and started to talk..OH GOD!! lol that guy always made me laugh because he KNEW how bad the situation really was.
Fuck...the absolute horror of the flood.
Truly a lose-lose situation. Spooky.
I typically just knock him out of his misery.

When Johnson was collecting the elites weapons, one of the elites stood up and then the marines stood up too, looks like they were about to get into a quick fight.

"Be advised, BFG rounds have been authorized, you have 60 seconds to take cover"
*Fires BFG10k round at the ship*
Dude for real. I watch it over and over, so dope
13:58 that line alone is why Shipmaster is my 3rd favorite Halo character
Yeah Rtas is a great character, the graphic novel about the Infinite Succor details his first meeting with the Flood and why hes obsessed with destroying all trace of it. Worth a read if you havent yet
0:28 i never noticed the marines fighting in the distance there!
I was fucking terrified when I had to go in the destroyed mothership
Reminds me... I still need a weapon. 🪖
I never got to experience Halo 1’s amazing flood intro. However as a kid with no previous halo experience, I feel a little lucky that this was how I was introduced to the parasite. Disfigured terrifying monsters dropping from the rooftops, transforming the marines that my 10 year old self was so comfortable fighting alongside. I couldn’t beat this mission the first or second time I tried it. I was too terrified. Looking back I appreciate how eventually I was able to overcome such an abrupt introduction to these monsters.
I was confused as fuck when I saw my brother play this mission for the first time when we where a lot younger. At age 12 I finally gotten a closer experience. I'm 16 now and somehow still scares me...
If you ask me I'd rather die from Brutes than them Flood (of all things I do not want to be turned into some alien zombie)...
EDIT: 2:27 Here comes the one man army. (Heck yeah!)
Friendly reminder this was master chief last time on earth until halo 4 ending
10:25 "Do not be AFRAID👁👁👁😇👁👁👁😳😨, I am peace☮🕊, I am salvation🔥" (Gravemind is an accurate angel)
I remember playing this mission as a kid. I was so dang scared but it still earned its spot as one of my favorites.
Flood levels were my favorite, like a bit of Resident Evil mixed into the Halo Adventure
You know what would have been cool. If you heard the voices of captain keys and other characters consumed by the flood . "Chief stand down humanity is doomed"
When I first played this mission I wasn’t really scared. Having the scene change from a normal earth environment to the flood scene without a proper transition broke my immersion.
As a kid playing this mission really really freaked me out
when chief left cortana on high charity the ark hadn't even been mentioned yet, so how did cortana have knowledge of the arks existence? I know cortana had been left in the control room during the first game and gained lots of knowledge about the ring itself but again, she didnt mention, nor did any other character in the game mention the ark prior to the end of halo 2. perhaps the gravemind told her of its existence while they spent time together on high charity..? but then again why would it tell her?
Homie Hoppers Maybe it told Cortana so that she would then inform the human/elite alliance to got through the portal, which would bring all threats to the flood in one place. Which is why the gravemind crashed high charity on the ark. Well that’s what I think at least
1) Guilty Spark mentions the Ark at the end of H2. 2) The Gravemind probably used it as bait.
cyber_dragon_123 seem like something he’d do considering he used chief as a distraction during the level gravemind in halo 2 (I’m aware chief was sent to high charity to get the index and stop truth, it just seems very convenient for the flood to show up a little while later)
4:33 epic epic epic change in the musical score
I just recently play halo 3 I still don’t like fighting against the flood
Man I just realized the master chief doesn't eat a single thing for the entire franchise and you bet the inside of that suit is stanky
Im currently playing halo 3 campaign. My first reaction and thoughts to this level were:
DAMN IT THE FLOODS ARE HERE
OH GOSHHH
THEY ARE INFECTING EVERYONEEEE
4:09 am I the only one who put that marine out of his misery after he was finished talking.
No. Done it every time.
I did it too, I just needed to put him out of his misery
First time playing this mission was easy for me. But I was on normal difficulty because it was my first time.
I was probably 11 when I first played this and I was so scared to move
Oh boy it sure is great to revive how my fobia of zombies started
Arbiter: "Hail humans and take heed, this is the shadow of intent"
John: "What happened to the rest of the fleet"
"We tried to stop by Dunkin donuts but the flood...I can't do this without my coffee"
John: "But the flood?"
Arbiter: "Who gives a fuck?"
*ships leave*
John: "I was going to say that there's a coffee shop here"
Arbiter: "oh...ok then. where was i? Oh yes.."
G when i first played dis my balls dropped

There is flood in this level. Ok. But it just isn't as scary and hard to kill as halo 2 floods like they had shields and the build-up is just fucking scary as shit. Dont even wanna tallk about CE. The library was absolutely horrifying, terrifying and extremely hard. The flood in halo 3 are little sissy cuddly dolls
By the way. Just shoot Flood tank face, because *flood tank face has easy weakness*

It would've been really cool to have a bug Hive underground. With bugs swarming from all sides.
What on Earth (and Halo) happened to this once Beautiful series??
This was it's last great game, what a Masterpiece it was!
When I first played this mission those initial words: "The Flood it's spreading all over the city" made me shit myself.
the sounds the flood make remind me of the original nazi zombies from Nacht Der Untoten on Call of Duty: World at War
Has anyone accidentally shot Elites since its the first mission with the Elites as ur allies other than the Arbiter Missions in Halo 2
Did you know the flood can talk for example "The armored casket" I think the reason why they call you that is because we'll you would pretty much be a rotten corpse in armor if you got infected so I guess that makes sense

This level was pretty short and had long cutscenes. Most of the levels aren’t like this one.

Ngl, as a teen, when I first played this level, it terrified me a lot. The previous two games and the books have given me insight on how deadly the Flood outbreak was to any sentient life in the galaxy. But the fact that it found its way here on our planet Earth was pure nightmare fuel.
