Quick confession; this was the first Halo game I had ever played, so when I heard Arbiter ask “More Brutes” and for Chief to say “Worse”, I actually thought to myself: What could possibly be worse than reinforcements for a self-genocidal alien army?... Little did I know the horrors that would come.
I love how the level’s name is The Storm, and the closing sequence is showing the flood being reintroduced into the game. Like when it storms hard enough, there will be a flood.
As epic as it is, it's simultaneously disappointingly short. When I saw this for the first time and saw that first salvo go off, I was all geared up for some kind of amazing showdown between the human and Covenant ships, but instead it's just a shockwave and then... over.
@@oliverlacota3112 That's the point, it's a short lived 'victory' Little do they know, that Earth is about to get railed by an infection without the help of the Elite cruisers

That feeling of utter dread when I realized what had just arrived on earth. And when the Arbiter aked: "More brutes?" Chief voiced the very thought that was going through my mind: "Worse." God I love Bungie.
Should of been there when the first game came out you had to do a solo mission fighting through an army of flood. The Libray is what I think that mission was called
One of the best parts about this scene will always be the Arbiter's roar at 1:41, the rage and anguish at seeing the Covenant move ever closer to the end of the Great Journey despite the success of their assault on the Covenant's forces. Like watching victory slip from your grasp at the very last possible moment.
Seeing that ship fly overhead with green/brown smoke trailing from it just makes your stomach churn. You know what's coming, but you can never adequately prepare for it...
I love how Chief just stares into the camera at 0:15, like "Yes. I AM a badass!" Everything about this cutscene is perfect. But to cap it all off, there was the Flood ship exiting the Slipspace, with all the Flood spores seeping into the town like a diesease (made even more insidious when you start the next level "Floodgate" off with the whole town wrapped in Flood spores, fog, and dust). Chief didn't need to say anything more than "Worse..." - the Flood is worse than even ONI themselves. Bungie was so good at presentation.
This cutscene is perfect. You feel a sense of heroism as you watch the human fleet hit the dreadnaught with everything they have then sudden horror as the ship is not only undamaged but proceeds to activate the forerunner artifact and fires a pulse into the sky that disables the fleet and knocks you off your feet. Then you watch as truth and his brutes escape through the portal and just as you’re about to charge after them the dreaded flood crashes into the city. So good! Exactly what halo should be.
I like how they introduce the flood in this game. Its right after the epic battle between humanity and the covenant, where Chief carved a bloody path through the enemy. Then the Flood show up. It hits hard when you're walking through the city with all the bodies from the fighting and it settles in how much ammo you just made for the Flood in the last mission.
Meanwhile the flood:why are there lime 2 marines with rocket launcher 1 worker with fuel rod cannon and 2 sniper rifles workers shooting us and doing a epic last stand
I don't know why, but I'm in love with this cutscene, as the burning wreck of a covenant aa gun falls, a fleet of human ships, with an epic score of music to pair, with a simple phrase "all ships, fire at will " unleash a storm of hatred and anger on an enemy that has been killing millions in their genocidal conquest of God hood

I love that Cortana risked sending a Flood infested Covenant Corvette to Earth from underneath the Graveminds nose, just to deliver a voicemail to Chief. The sass!
What's underated and amazing about this scene is just how powerful and strong the Keyship Truth uses is and is ultimately a Forerunner transportation ship.
this for me is the best halo cutscene ever. the music, the atmosphere, seeing 100s of longswords bombing Truth's ship, only for the lesser ark to activate a portal to the Ark, and ending with the Flood arriving. Just perfection.
I love the long swords in this scene. We see the AA gun shoot one down only to have a whole swarm of reinforcements come. Not only that but we see the damage 2 long swords did to a carrier in halo 2 so imagine what the swarm would have done to truths fleet.
You know…that reminds me…where did all those ships go after the cutscene ended? Like the entirety of that group just disappears.
